Our stay at alder Creek Charmer was great and easy. We were 4 adults and a couple of toddlers who also enjoyed it very much. The house is comfortable, quiet and it was very easy to make ourselves at home. The kitchen is fully stocked. We had only brought coffee beans and were so happy (and relieved!) to find a grinder! The place was very clean and had quite a few items for kids, very clean and sturdy fold-out crib, high chair, kids utensils, plates, etc. Which was great for us -- less stuff to bring!
The kids explored the surroundings in the morning, mainly walking the house around and gathering pine cones.
The neighborhood is quiet and minutes away from shops and restaurants. Donner lake is also very close and an ideal destination for little ones. As for the adults, a few more minutes up the lake and we were climbing one day and hiking the next on the PCT to Donner Summit, taking in the gorgeous views.
We hope to be back someday as it was a very easy, welcoming and comfortable place for us all. Also a huge thanks to the staff (Lucia) at the Pullen Group for helping us with this almost last minute reservation! -

We rented the alder Creek charmer for 4 months straight during the ski season!! It was the perfect house - clean, great views, comfy beds, open floor plan, bright and sun filled everyday!
Good kitchen to cook in and a big table to seat a large family or group!
Highly recommend this rental!

The location is great, not far from the main shopping area in Truckee and close to several ski locations. The general layout of the property is nice, though the downstairs bedroom was very cold and too close to the garage door for us to comfortably allow our children (4 & 6) to sleep there.
There was an unpleasant issue with the freezer when we arrived. We needed to try all forms of contact (several different email addresses and voice mails) since there was no "in case of emergency" or after hours number available. The management was responsive to our initial contacts.
The binder of information about the area was out of date and for the wrong season.
The furnishings were nice for the most part, however there were some things (couch pillows & dining chair seat cushions in particular) that were dirty beyond normal usage and in my opinion unacceptable. Our bed was incredibly hard.
The kitchen was moderately stocked with tools and dishes.
I think with some more attention to detail and some creature comforts adjustments this could be a nice place to stay.
