Sydney, AustraliaWonderful Family Home
Left on 12/30/2012 for a stay in December 2012
Just returned from a wonderful week at Chalet Sierra. We arrived in Blizzard conditions to a wondefully warm and cosy home. All the beds were made and the house spotlessly clean and well maintained. We stayed over Christmas and appreciated the great oven and well equiped kitchen and dining area. The house included access to a number of books, videos and games which the children enjoyed. The great washing and drying facilities were also a bonus.
We spent our days at Tahoe Donner ski resort (3 minutes drive). A great ski resort for the young and novice skiier. The under 7 ski program was particularly good. The house was well situated to access the lake and larger ski resorts. Truckee is a great little town to spend time in. -

El Cerrito, CAChalet Sierra - Beautiful Getaway!
Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Everything was handled online quickly and easily. We arrived to a lovely, clean house stocked with everything we needed. There were plenty of linens, dishes, cooking utensils- all the comforts of home. Everybody loved the house! The open layout, two levels, and the huge deck makes it easy for a couple of families to spend quality time together without being crowded. The house is also perfectly located for taking advantage of the plentiful neighborhood outdoor activities. We spent days hiking, horseback riding, relaxing by the pool, and our favorite activity: The private marina at Donner Lake where we enjoyed swimming, kayaking and fishing. A great and kid friendly vacation!

BerkeleyBeautifully maintained and comfortable house
Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We were enchanted by this house. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The spacious yet cozy great room allowed everyone to hang out together while doing their own thing. - chess, cards, watching the Little League World Series. The kitchen was well quipped so we could grill at home and make all of our meals.
The location turned out to be perfect. Hiking, golf, Donner Lake, all close by. The membership allows access to lakeshore clubs and other pools and recreation.
We could have stayed another few weeks.
I forgot to mention my personal favorite - the most comfortable bed ever. The owners clearly have high expectations for a house worthy of renting and they surpass them. -

Berkeley, CABeautiful Chalet Is Surrounded By Nature, Very Close To Truckee/
Left on 07/30/2012 for a stay in June 2012
My girlfriend and I had an unforgettable stay at the Chalet Sierra. The cabin, which comfortably sleeps eight people, is simply immaculate and features an indoor jacuzzi tub, gourmet kitchen, and spacious deck with a backdrop of alpine forest. The house is located along a very quiet, wooded road but it is surprisingly quite close to Truckee, Donner Lake, and the Trout Creek Recreation Center (all are five minutes away). On top of all that, the house is stocked with Dvds and numerous board games, and it is equipped with high-speed internet. Finally, Carla couldn't be a more gracious, friendly, and communicative host. We can't wait to visit again; Chalet Sierra is truly a magical place to stay for both a summer or winter vacation.

El CerritoWonderful home and location
Left on 07/30/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The home is very well cared for and clean. The location is quite and relaxing. I was there with 2 adults, 19 year old girl, 17 year old girl and two 12 year old boys, for 4 days. The house easily accommodated everyone. It was an easy drive to the pools, horseback riding, hiking trails, moutain biking trails and golf course. There was so much to do, we actually didn't make it to Donner Lake! So, I guess we will have to return!!!
In the past we have stayed at Squaw Creek, but not anymore. Great place. Thank you Carla. -

Left on 05/29/2012 for a stay in May 2012
I have now made the trip up to Chalet Sierra twice with friends and family. We always joke that it'll be hard to get out for the beautiful hikes, etc. because the house is so great. The house was neat, well stocked, and comfortable. I wish I were there now grilling out on the beautiful deck...

We had a great time staying here, with games to entertain our kids and sledding that kept us outside free long days of skiing. My only complaint is the downstairs "guest" bed is uncomfortable.

Willits, CAWonderful birthday gift !
Left on 02/13/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Chalet Sierra more than met our expectations ! The setting was beautiful and quiet but just a short drive or walk to all the outdoor activities that the Tahoe/Donner area has to offer. The home has everything you need - even sleds and plenty of games for the kids. Some members of our family liked the comfort and esthetics of the house so much it was difficult to leave while others liked the proximity to Northstar, Boreal, and Donner ski/snowboarding slopes - and you couldn't ask for a more pleasant and helpful homeowner !

Windsor, CAThis is a beautiful house that is nicely furnished.
Left on 01/30/2012 for a stay in January 2012
The owner took extra care with us from the time we inquired about the property to the time we left. The house is nicely furnished and stocked with everything we needed. The location is perfect, right in Truckee Donner offering close shopping and a short trip to many ski resorts. The layout was exceptionally pleasing that offered a comfortable great room with an open kitchen perfectly situated for visiting while preparing meals. It also has a split level with everything for kids downstairs who got to play while the adults visited without the ruckus (this was probably my favorite part).
Thank you Carla for offering your cabin and all of its accommodations. -

San Mateo County2nd stay at Chalet Sierra
Left on 01/19/2012 for a stay in December 2011
Recently we visited Chalet Sierra for a weeks stay and had a wonderful time. This was the second time we have stayed at Chalet Sierra in the past 2 years and we were keen to go back after such a wonderful stay the first time.
It is a lovely house with great facilities and the owners are very helpful.
We like the location. It is a short drive to the shops in Truckee and just 2 miles from Donner Tahoe ski field. Within about a 20 minute drive we were able to visit Northstar Ski Resort, Sugarbowl Ski Resort and go tubing at Boreal. Tahoe is such a great area with lots to see and do, even when there is very little snow in the winter, and Chalet Sierra is an ideal place to stay when you are there.

Our stay at Chalet Sierra was just what we needed. Close to everything and near Truckee which is the best town for miles around for fine restaurants. Nice trails in back woods right behind the house. Clean and professional.

Chalet Sierra is a beautiful, welcoming home that our family and extended family has enjoyed immensely both in the summer and winter. It is tastefully furnished and comfortably houses eight to ten people. The access to the pools, driving range, stables, ski area and the programs for children are ideal. Many wonderful memories have been created under the roof of Chalet Sierra and we look forward to coming back soon.

BerkeleySkiers dream house
Left on 12/10/2011 for a stay in February 2010
I stayed at Chalet Sierra twice last winter. It is hard to imagine a more perfect house for winter fun. Tons of room, all decked out in comfort and style. The combined living room/dining room/kitchen area, replete with fireplace and bar area, creates an immense open space, perfect for everyone, young and old, to hang out together at the end of the day. The kitchen is beautifully equipped for any post-ski feast you feel up to making. Plus, with the kids' bedrooms downstairs, adults don't have to worry about keeping quiet once the kids are asleep. I have rented cabins all around the north lake area, and none have come close to this one for comfort, charm, and all the right amenities.

We had a wonderful time at Chalet Sierra! This beautiful home was very comfortable and roomy for two families to share. Everything was immaculate with nice furnishings, a well-equipped kitchen, and especially comfortable beds. The location was great since it is very close to skiing and restaurants. There is plenty of room for kids to play outside too!

PhiladelphiaThe Highlight of all vacation!
Left on 12/07/2011 for a stay in November 2011
I have spent several vacations at Chalet Sierra at various times of the year, whether in ski season or sunny summer, The area is gorgeous but what I most like is staying at roomy, lovely Chalet Sierra with its fabulous views of forest and so close to activities. I have enjoyed my stays immensely! It is a home like few others. There are all the amenities from state of the art kitchen,to the spacious, 2-story living room with fireplace to decorator bathrooms. The chalet is spotless and all the needed appliances are there. The ski slopes are close by and there are many choices. In the summer the activities are just as much fun -- swimming, golf, miniature golf, tennis and more. The area is welcoming to couples, families and older folk as well. Thank you Chalet Sierra for being there and proving to be a wonderful place for some of my best vacations.
