Great place to get away and relax!

Left on 10/16/2012 for a stay in October 2012

This place exceeded our expectations! We went for just one night but ended up staying an extra night because it was so darn cute and comfortable. We stayed in a very nicely remodeled Casita and there was terrific attention to detail. Beth and Bob have done a fantastic job making some very beautiful accommodations with rustic Southwest decor. Don't be surprised by the amount of wood and leather in your room, there may even be a pair of Cowboy Chaps hanging on the coathook! Paths and property are marked by well -landscaped gravel paths and there are plenty of animals to visit. The hot tub (spool) was amazing! It is strategically placed for privacy yet offers views like no other and plenty of stars to see at night. We are so grateful to have stumbled across this gem and encourage everyone to drop in for a visit!

We all had a great week.

Left on 11/03/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Our daughter had a course to attend at a high end Tucson hotel. She proposed that she bring her 9 year old and we come along and baby sit. I got depressed at the idea of a week with the little guy in a hotel, no matter how nice. Thnks to Tripadvisor's Specialty Lodging Category (Go to to Hotels first and it appears as an option) I found the Casitas at Smokey Springs Ranch, a little east of Tucson, and we spent a week in a Casita (a small house, 2br, 2 ba) on the grounds of the ranch. The little house was a nice as could be and our grandson had a great time as well. He helped feed the animals in the morning, played with the owners grandchildren, hung out at the spool (a very small pool/hot tub) and learned to ride a pony on a nearby horse ranch (Houstons, top rated at Things to Do). We ate breakfasts and a couple of dinners at the casita and ate out other times. We sat on the patio and watched the frequent humming birds. We put out water in a provided basin for other creatures. At one point at first glance I thought 5 quail were walking in a well formed line for a quick drink, but when I looked more closely I realized that number 4 was a rabbit! One or another of us at or near the ranch also saw grouse, lizzards, a tarantula, a black snake and what we thought might be a pair of wild boars. (no scorpions of rattlesnakes, thank goodness.) The casita had air conditioning but we were never tempted to use it even thought daytime highs were around 100 each day with lows around 60 each night. Dry heat is a lot easier to take than the moist heat we get in the east. The owners are great people, very accessable and helpful. We all had a great week, and saved a lot of money as well.

What a nice getaway from the crowded hotels/B&B;'s in the city. Stayed in The Rain Dancer, perfect for a couple, with everything we needed. Good location for East Tucson activities. And yes, we will return.
