Had a wonderful stay at Behla Palapita, can't wait to come back! Perfect for our family of four. We were very pleased to find the photos and description of the property very accurate, which is not always the case when renting this type of lodging.
Outstanding service from property owners, manager, and staff, from booking the reservation, to helping us make arrangements for transportation and activities, letting us know the best ways to move around town, to impecable housekeeping service. Highly recommend taking advantage of their meal service. The couple of ladies who cooked for us went above and beyond in accomodating our picky eaters. The best meals we had while in Tulum were at the house hands down! Plenty of places to eat nearby if you prefer to go out. The house has a kitchenette if you prefer to cook. Just know that no oven of any type is available, so cooking is limited to a stovetop and a pretty basic selection of pots, pans and kitchen utensils.
The ocean breeze combined with the open design of the house provides amazing ventilation throughout. Fans are also provided in each bedroom for added comfort. Travelers should know when considering Tulum in general that the town lacks the infrastructure of the big resorts (i.e., Cancun or Playa del Carmen), so you are bound to experience an ocassional issue with a toilet, availability of hot water, etc. Please be assuered that the staff an Behla is available 24/7 to promplty take care of any issues you may have, regardless of how small. Water from faucets and shower are semi-salty, bottled drinking water is provided and available at all times. We had great internet access during our stay.
Tulum has the feel of a small town, a place you can unplug, relax and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Tulum Beach without the distractions, crowds and commercialism of the big resorts. Having the beach just a few steps from your doorstep is more than worth any minor inconvenience you may experience. I have not seen more beautiful beach than this one. An absolute paradise!
One important note, be prepared to deal with mosquitos at dusk. Tulum beach backs into the jungle, so they are simply part of the ecosystem here. Your options for mosquito control will be limited when you are there. You are better off doing your research beforehand so you are prepared. In our case this meant bringing an insect repelent you are comfortable using on your face, light weight long sleeve shirts and pants to wear during the evening, and start a regimen of vitamin B at least week before traveling. If you are extremely sensitive to mosquitos, you should consider bringing a mosquito net to sleep in.

This is the quintessential beach paradise. The house (which is a bit tricky to find in the dark by the way) delivered on every level. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully designed and well equipped for home cooked breakfasts and simple meals. The situation right on the beach is divine. The staff are discreet and available 24/7 for the smallest requests. Infact the owner Renaud actually encouraged us to ask his staff for any and all requests/chores regarding the house. The one thing you really need to know when you arrive is that the in-house catering is 5 star. We only splurged on this luxury on the last night and wished we had taken advantage of this service much much earlier in our stay. It is really good value and well worth it. Plenty to see and do and eat nearly. The owners and a pleasure and visited every day with suggestions of what to do and see. You absolutely have to do the river boat/float trip - with aldo - just a magical day. The one thing that is a bit unreliable is the internet - it was spotty - and if you want to get bang up reception you have to sit under a palm tree between the houses. I am sure they will figure it out soon tho. Also most properties on this beach road have semi salty shower water that takes a bit of getting used to. Altogether a great time and a memorable relaxing break from the fray.

Estuvimos una semana en Behla Palapita, la casa es preciosa y super comoda.
La playa esta a solo unos metros con comodas reposeras y palapas para el sol.
Esta lleno de restaurantes a los que puedes llegar caminando por la playa (recomiendo especialmente La Zebra y Villa Las Estrellas de los mas cercanos). La casa esta al lado de Coqui Coqui, un hotel con un pequeño restaurant que no esta nada mal para un almuerzo ligero.
Tambien se puede solicitar que te cocinen en la casa, nosotros lo hicimos varias noches y fue delicioso (gracias Hayde!!).
En resumen, fue una semana maravillosa. -

My wife and I just spent 8 nights here and it was magical. The beach is great, Renaud is great, the food was fantastic, there are so many wonderful places to eat nearby... can't say enough. For a very fair price, they have a wonderful cook who will prepare meals for you in the house, which we did on my birthday for both breakfast and dinner... So good!
The house is very comfortable and very spacious... you can open up the doors and windows and enjoy the sea breeze all day long. We were there in June, so there are certainly Mosquitoes at night, but that's just the deal in that part of the world. Couldn't ask for a better place to spend our honeymoon. Thanks Renaud!
