      The perfect balance

Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Maya Jardin strikes the perfect balance between luxury and rustic charm. It's a beautiful, well-appointed home, but it doesn't look like an upscale american suburban house that was plunked down on the Caribbean and it's wonderful to have both the pool and the ocean right at your door. It also provides whatever amount of excitement and/or relaxation you choose - you can relax by the pool, look out over the turquoise water of the bay and star gaze for hours or you can do ziplines, snorkeling, kayaking, or many other activities. The caretakers are delightful, helpful and a pleasure to have around. We loved every minute of our stay there and highly recommend Maya Jardin!

I was skeptical about going to Tulum because I like to do things and love to be in the water. We booked it and when we got there, had plenty to do. The house is perfectly situated for a getaway. You could spend all your time there chilling and exploring Solomon Bay or you are close enough to Tulum and Playa del Carmen for even more activities. The restaurants in Tulum are not so great and priced like New York, so I recommend staying in a couple of nights. And we did find everything to be more expensive than we thought, but I think anywhere white people are, it's expensive no matter what country you are in...

The house was really well laid out for big groups, and there were just 2 of us. We found the house very livable. Some of the furniture could be more comfortable, and the bed a little less hard, however, we truly enjoyed our stay Maya Jardin.

A week of bliss on Soliman Bay

Left on 02/02/2012 for a stay in July 2011

My extended family had the pleasure of staying at Villa Maya Jardin, the first week of July, 2011. Maya Jardin proved to be everything we were looking for in a vacation property, and more.
First of all, it was a pleasure working with the owners, Sherry and Jeff. From the very first communication they were helpful, honest, professional, and prompt in answering our questions. This gave us a sense of comfort as we were investing a lot of resources in getting our family of 13, traveling from all over the U.S., into a foreign country.
A lot of research was put into selecting this property. Not only was location a key consideration but so was the living/sleeping spaces. While we are a close-knit family, it was important for us to have enough space (and privacy) to spend a week together. One of the things that made our selection of Maya Jardin happen was to be able to view the floor plan, as well as the pictures, and read the description of the Villa. I assure you, the pictures do not do justice to this wonderful beach front Villa. The location, on Soliman Bay, served as a great home-base for our excursions to Tulum, Akumal, and the Coba ruins.
While the Villa, itself, was wonderful, an added bonus was the on-site caretakers, Mauricio and Maria. It was evident the pride and pleasure these two take in caring for the property and its guests. Every need, question, or concern was addressed quickly. It was helpful to have some members of the family able to converse in Spanish though Mauricio made an effort to communicate in his second language. Also, Miguel (he took care of the pool, the beach front, and the grounds) was always pleasant and prideful of his work. We took advantage of having Mauricio and Maria prepare our first dinner. Not only was the meal wonderful, it was a treat to have a meal waiting for us upon arrival.
The garden/palapa kitchen and dining area was a pleasurable place to prepare a meal and dine. The grill was large enough to cook up 3 fish (one meal), enough chicken pieces to feed our crew, and several large cuts of meat for another meal. The table in this area seated 15, the decorations were befitting the locale, and two, large, overhead fans helped to keep the mosquitoes at bay.
The large, open layout of the main floor made for very comfortable gatherings. Each morning we opened the French doors to allow the Caribbean breezes in. The terrace, looking out over the pool and beach areas, was a favorite place to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee or to finish the day with a cocktail. The kitchen was spacious and provided everything our large group needed.
Each of the bedroom suites got a five-star rating. The beds were very comfortable (not always easy to find in Mexico), the decorations were a taste of the local culture, and the ceiling fans/air conditioners kept the rooms comfortable by all our standards. Maria did a wonderful job keeping the rooms clean and the beds made/linens changed. The travertine sinks, walk in showers, decorations from local artisans, and clean, fresh towels made the bathrooms fantastic. Having a safe in each room was an added bonus, though we always felt secure.
While the Villa abuts a nice sandy beach, the ocean floor of this part of Soliman Bay is rock and coral. The lack of soft sand underfoot was made up for in strolls on the beach, shell picking, kayaking and snorkeling the bay. The massive coral heads and mesas were a haven for a large variety of fish life including manta rays, barracuda, conch shells, and turtles. A turtle came ashore right at the Villa one night in what appeared to be an unsuccessful attempt at nesting as no eggs were laid.

      Incredible

Left on 01/16/2012 for a stay in January 2012

What a place. I mean the only way to describe it is to say "You know when your flying someplace, and you're checking out vacation brochures and you see something and say 'wow' look at this place...that's how I felt about this rental. I walked around with my jaw dropped, repeating those words "wow." I did not want to leave. The service staff, the views, the sunrises, everything. Its a magical place.

Amazing family vacations in a very secluded bay near Tulum

Left on 01/07/2012 for a stay in December 2011

Only positive things to say: the house is huge - fitted us (13 people including 4 children)), very well decorated, by the beach, with a nice swimmingpool and most important extremely well located 10mn from Tulum and far from any kind of crowds. From there, it´s easy to go to Sian Ka' an and Coba for day trips. And last but not least the excellent (compulsory) service of Mauricio and his family to prépare the coco locos, margaritas and dinner of your choice. He is pleasant, not pushy, a very nice and trustful person.

Awesome villa in a perfect location.

Left on 01/01/2012 for a stay in July 2011

Maya Jardin is a beautiful villa set in a gorgeous setting. The east side of the villa is right on Solimon bay, with a great pool right on the beach. Get up early for an amazing sunrise. The second largest barrier reef in the world is only a three minute kayak (provided) trip from the villa. The tropical fish and coral are amazing. On the west side are jungle views, including a bird sanctuary. The villa itself has everything one needs, including a helpful caretaker. I wish I was there now (instead of Chicago in the winter!).

      Maya Jardin truly exceeded expectations!

Left on 08/09/2011 for a stay in August 2011

What a wonderful stay we had at Maya Jardin last week. We had stayed there in room 3 a few years ago but had never seen the upstairs and it truly exceeded expectations! I said many times during the week that I really was in the most beautiful place in the world. Future vacations will have a hard time measuring up unless we just never go anywhere else. It was such a luxury to stay in such a beautiful home on such a beautiful bay. We snorkeled in the bay every day, we even got up early to snorkel some more on our final morning before leaving for the airport to get one last look.

Everything we hoped for and more

Left on 06/13/2011 for a stay in May 2011

This villa is amazing! We stayed in Room Cuatro and loved the outdoor shower, not to mention the incredible view, the comfortable bed, and the handmade furniture. I think our favorite activity was kayaking and snorkeling in the bay.

We also spent some time in the cute little town of Tulum and a couple evenings in the sandy-beached bars and restaurants of Tulum Beach. We took one day to visit ruins and cenotes and another day to explore the nearby jungle. None of that compared to just relaxing in front of the villa with the waves lapping in, though.

We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

      As described!!!

Left on 06/03/2011 for a stay in May 2011

12 of us spent 7 wonderful days enjoying the breeze off Soliman bay through the shutters of this well designed home. The older folks from the north were able to use the room aC to be comfortable at night while for the rest of us the breeze was sufficient. We were served by the house staff with daily cleanup and one night they prepared a great meal for us. All in all we agreed that we could not ask for more. The house has a "Wow" factor that does not come through in pictures. If we have need of that many rooms again we will repeat.

Thanks to Sherry and Jeff for allowing us into their slice of paradise.

      Plenty of Room

Left on 04/03/2011 for a stay in March 2011

My family found the accommodations at Maya Jardin to be more than adequate for 9 adults and 4 children. The home was easy to find and the setting was as described by the owner. The Staff was available for information and they cooked 2 very fine meals. The water at Solimon Bay is excellent for snorkeling and is secluded enough that the water is calm. I would recommend the property to any group of 13 or 14 people.

      Amazing Villa

Left on 02/02/2011 for a stay in January 2011

This was a great experience to stay in an amazing villa right on the ocean. A rental car was a must and enabled us to spend time along the beaches of Tulum and travel to the ruins within 1 hr of the villa. The staff was great and gave us many tips on good locations to visit.

      Very, very awesome.

Left on 10/18/2010 for a stay in October 2010

I really couldn't recommend this place more. I arrived there late at night with 8 exhausted friends after an endless day of flying and accidental driving detours through the insanity of downtown Cancun. When we finally got there, the place was so overwhelmingly beautiful it felt like a hallucination. The caretaker stayed up to show us around the entire house despite us getting in so late.
Unbelievably, it's even better than the website makes it out to be. There's lots of little touches that really weren't necessary but made it excellent, like heavy shades for all the patio windows, poolside showers, and a stereo with a supply of burned CDs in the outdoor kitchen. There's even a little door that opens onto a little platform on the roof for a view so picturesque it doesn't look real.
What else? The beach is lovely, and mostly occupied by other vacation homes. Granted it was the off-season for tourists, but we hardly saw anyone else, much less than at another beach we visited. Our most common visitors were the mosquito-eating geckos and some giant iguanas that liked to hang out in the side yard. We developed a mild obsession with finding and eating delicious coconuts.
We were very glad that we rented cars, since it's way too far to walk (or even bike) into town or to a restaurant, but we were there for a week and didn't come close to exhausting all the cool places to go within an hour's drive.
So.. yeah, I'd go back in a second. I can't imagine you could find a better place to stay.

      outstanding villa

Left on 04/10/2010 for a stay in April 2010

lovely villa - we had an extended family vacation of 9 adults, 3 kids and this property was perfect - plenty of space to get away from each other, but also plenty of space to hang out together. The beach is a bit rocky with seaweed, but the protected bay was great for kayaking and we mainly swam in the pool. We had the manager (Mauricio) prepare dinner one evening, which was our best meal and a fantastic price. Definitely need a car to get around, but we spent most of the time at the villa, sunbathing, swimming or kayaking.

      FANTASTIC HOUSE!

Left on 08/03/2009 for a stay in July 2009

Maya Jardin is perfect! The house in real life is even better than the website, if you can believe it. It is spacious, beautifully and comfortably decorated, with an amazing, quiet, spectacularly gorgeous location. Mauricio, the house manager, was helpful in offering advice for excursions in the area, and he cooked phenomenal dinners. Everything was spotlessly clean and in perfect working order. We would highly recommend visiting cenotes in the area, going kayaking at Sian Caan, and seeing the ruins at Tulum (early in the morning). A few things: I'm not sure how easy it would be to navigate without renting a car but it was a fine, 90-minute drive from the Cancun airport and well worth it to be in beautiful Soliman Bay. The location is perfect because it is very quiet and secluded but within an easy, short drive to tourist sites, the town of Tulum, other beaches, grocery store, restaurants, shopping, etc. Also, the ocean floor in front of the house is rocky (the beach itself is sandy) but there are smooth-bottom, white sand beaches in Tulum, a 10-minute drive away. From the house, you need to kayak out to the reef but the snorkeling is excellent. Sherry, the home's owner, was extremely helpful and attentive as we planned the trip. We would return here in a heartbeat!
