IndianapolisThe perfect trip
Left on 05/12/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Everything was perfect, the area is so nice and safe, the house is spectacular! The 3 bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, as well as the bathrooms. Marcos and Laydi (caretakers) are fabulous; they are always there in case you need them. The beach was nicely raked every morning, and the beds were made while we were eating breakfast. Although we mostly cooked for ourselves, on the two occasion we asked them to cook for us, the food was amazing. This was definitely one of the best trips; we could not have had a better time. The beach is nice if you want to stay at home and relax. The house is also close to several great places, including two beautiful restaurant/bars, the pyramids at Coba, Tulum. Cenote Manatee is at walking distance, and Cenote Dos Ojos is 15 minutes by car, and it was an incredible experience. It's nice to be 10 minutes ride to Tulum because you can find great supermarkets with everything you need. It's 60 km to Playa del Carmen, another great local town with good night life. We have two little kids age 1 and 2 and they had a great time there as well, playing on the beach. All in all, it was the perfect trip to the perfect house.

SeattleSimply amazing!
Left on 04/11/2013 for a stay in March 2013
From the moment we drove up to the incredible Casa Caribbean Soul and were being greeted by the caretakers Marcos and Leydi, we knew we were in for a treat. Walking through the front door and into to the expansive open plan living/dining/kitchen area with huge windows looking straight out into Tankah Bay, I was overcome with emotion, this was a much needed vacation! For the week we snorkeled, swam, walked on the beach, sunbathed, kayaked and enjoyed each other's company. We rented a car at the airport and were able to explore the surrounding area quite easily, visiting many of the local attractions (visit any of the cenotes, they are awesome)on the days we got tired of sunbathing and snorkeling. We had plenty of room to spread out if we wanted alone time but we mostly spent time hanging out in the communal areas. Each bedroom was spacious with full bathrooms and nice size closet space. The upstairs rooms have balconies, while the downstairs room has a sliding glass door directly to the beach. There is also an amazing roof top deck that we didn't take as much advantage of as we should have. Stunning views of the bay as well as inland, it is a great place for relaxing with drinks at sunset. Marcos and Leydi were excellent caretakers, cleaning most days, setting up lounge chairs each morning, raking out the sand and making sure we had what we needed. They will also cook for you for a nominal fee and I highly recommend you take advantage of this. The food is amazing and elegantly presented. It's nice to sit back and relax and have the cooking done for you! Jadee, the owner, was excellent as well. From setting up the dates, to sending us a ton of information on just about everything you needed to know about the area,to checking in and making sure everything was to our liking, she was beyond accommodating and pleasant to deal with. We are already talking about when we can return! Thank-you Jadee, Marcos and Leydi for making our vacation one of the best vacations ever!

Boise IdahoTrip of a Lifetime
Left on 03/26/2013 for a stay in March 2013
The photos of this home do not do it justice. It is stunning in every way. We stayed 8 nights with another couple and cannot wait to return. The location is great, about 10 min from town on a secluded stretch of beach with a cenote and restaurant within walking distance.
The house is well appointed, very clean, elegant and well cared for. Each couple felt like we were in a private suite. There is fresh water to drink throughout the home. There are doors, fans and windows throughout that allow for a great sea breeze and the bedrooms have a/C if needed. The rooftop views are fantastic.
The beach is amazing. We went kayaking and/or snorkeling each day and I saw a ray! It is safe to walk down the beach or the caliche road leading to the home. There are tons of shells and creatures to find!
But probably the best part was Marcos and Leydi who live in a little home onsite. They were so kind and welcoming. They raked the beach each morning, swept the sand from the patio, cleaned the house thoroughly each day, cooked amazing food, and are just lovely people.
I would highly recommend staying at this home, you will not want to leave!Response from Jadee - 03/27/2013

CaliforniaExceeded Our Expectations
Left on 03/15/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Upon arrival we were greeted by Marcos and his family, which made us feel very welcome and at home (especially making us feel comfortable with our after dark arrival). Dinner was ready for us, we had fajitas and they were delicious. Each day the house was cleaned by Marcos and Leydi, even the dishes, which we did not expect! The the king size rooms with huge bathrooms and closets were so nice. The beds were very comfy and each upstairs room had its own porch, the downstairs room with direct access to the beach front. We loved that there were cards and games in the house, we used them every evening.
The white sand beach was beautiful and the bay was perfect. Each day we sunbathed, kayaked and snorkeled right in front of our home. There was also plenty of shade for those of us who needed it. Definitively bring water shoes because it is rocky when you enter the water, which is why the area is so great for snorkeling. We saw a large variety of fish and coral, I even saw a huge stingray swim by! Just down the road (10 min walk or 3 minute drive) is a beautiful, meandering cenote, which we enjoyed and was usually quiet compared to the others we visited. Also, right across from there is a great little store for last minute food or toiletries that were forgotten.
We also loved this home and its location because it's so close to Tulum, which is a great, small town. We had many delicious lunches in town and were not overwhelmed with tourists. The Mayan ruins at Tulum were also a wonderful experience and the Grand Cenote, just east of Tulum was a must do (arrive early to avoid crowds).
We could not have been happier with Casa Caribbean Soul and the surrounding area. We hope to return and enjoy this home again.

Left on 03/15/2013 for a stay in March 2013
You hear that line a lot, but in this case, it is the literal truth. If you are looking for the perfect oceanfront rental home on the Mexican [Maya] Riviera, you've found it. There is a reason every single one of the reviews for this property are 5/5.
The Casa is absolutely stunning with every amenity one could want - wall mounted flat screen tv, satellite with English stations, DVD player, DVD library, wifi, ice-cold air conditioning in all sleeping areas, ridiculously comfortable king size beds in all rooms, Fully stocked gourmet kitchen (food sold separately).
The views of the bay/ocean are truly incredible, and you can even see the Tulum ruins in the distance from all ocean/bay-facing windows of the home, on most days. Marcos and Ledyi are the perfect caretakers of the property - there when you need them, and I don't think I had ever seen Marcos without a smile on his face. The beach is prepared every morning before you wake, casa cleaned everyday, everything you need is within arm's reach.
We spent most of our time snorkeling in the bay and the variety of fish you see, is a list too long for this review - We were lucky enough to spend about 5 minutes with a Southern Sting Ray, and it was absolutely incredible. Great examples of coral - Torch, Leather, Brain, Tree, Zoanthids, its all out there within 100 yards of the shore.
Yucatrek adventure Tours provided an excellent private tour of Chichen Itza for our family and our guides spoke perfect English (and were kind enough to teach us a bit of Spanish during the drive) - thank you to Omar and Ethar; I would highly recommend YucaTrek.
Our trip was only 7 days, so there was much we wanted to do, but simply did not have the time. Driving down the coast to Punta allen for more snorkeling, visiting more of the restaurants in the area, visiting more cenotes, all on our to-so list for the next time around.
At the end of the day, what makes a trip like this all the more enjoyable is the owner of the property - we have learned they can make or break a trip. Jadee, the property owner is simply the best. She provides excellent information about the area, the property - everything. Her communication throughout was excellent, and always very timely. This was our first trip to Mexico where we did not stay at a resort and use shuttles/ large bus tours, etc. so as you would expect, we were a bit nervous about the idea of renting a car and staying a bit off the beaten path, although the casa is within 8 miles of Tulum. Having Jadee there with guidance for everything from rental cars to grocery shopping made all the difference; like talking with an old friend. She made all the difference, and helped to provide us one of the best trips of our lives. Thank you Jadee, for everything.
As with every other review here, we cannot wait to return. Extraordinary.Response from Jadee - 03/19/2013

Mark,
I am so happy that this vacation was all that you had hoped for, it is important to me that people that stay in our home really like what they are paying for. Thank you for being good guests and taking care of the villa as we would do ourselves. It makes me feel really nice to know that what I am doing is helpful and appreciated! So thank you! -

Great house, very comfortable inside and out. Everything worked...Tv, DVD (great library), wifi and ipod docks, we worked the blender pretty hard making pina coladas but we could not kill it!
Great location on Tankah, private with lots of shade and sun. Great snorkeling right out front. All kinds of tropical fish, turtles, cool coral looks to be coming back.
Do: call Pedro for a beach massage (best I've ever had), have Marcos & Leydi cook for you (chile rellenos, empenadas, lobster, delish!) take kayaks out to tour the bay, stop off at Casa Cenote for a great margarita, eat at Chimicos shack at end of Soliman Bay Rd. Hit Dos Ojos cenote and Tulum ruins (if you've never been). Drive to Sian Kaan bridge, park and hike out to the point. On the way back stop at Zama's for a quick lunch. Chill out and relax at Casa Caribbean Soul. You will have an awesome time...we sure did!Response from Jadee - 03/08/2013

The pictures do not do it justice. Casa Caribbean Soul is amazingly beautiful. We traveled to the home over the christmas holiday's. There were six of us four adults and two children. The location of the house is great, it is quiet and secluded, yet less ten minutes form the town of Tulum. The house itself is fantastic for families or friends traveling together. Lots of big common areas, but also tons of privacy. The kids could be up on the roof top deck, and adults in the living area or outside overlooking the ocean. The caretakers were very gracious, and also they prepared great food. We spent lots of time trying to come up with what we would do different and no one could come up with anything. They even have two very happy dogs to hang out with. We have been coming to the Tulum area for many years, this was the first time we rented a house. I would highly recommend it, it is great to get up make coffee hang out on the beach, read, maybe get a massage. Then if you feel like go see the ruins or a cenotye or just continue to hang out and have a margarita. One of the most important things about Casa Caribbean Soul is it's owner Jadee. From the moment we spoke on the phone she was so helpful and concerned that we would have a good time. She has tons of love for the home and it shows. We can't wait to go back

This was my second time staying at this beautiful home, and I am so excited to come back again next year. The location is wonderful, and the accommodations are spectacular and decorated so beautifully and tropically! We discovered that right down the road in Tulum, there is great night life and food, so, you dont have to go to Playa to get out. I highly recommend this place...feels like paradise!

HoustonCasa Caribbeansoul Review
Left on 09/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This is the third vacation I have stayed at the Casacaribbeansoul. There's a reason for doing so, and I'll return again as soon as I have vacation time!
Besides the majestic beauty of the home, the convenience of the location is excellent, the view is spectacular, and the privacy is worth the rental rate alone! Being located between Playa Del Carmen and Tulum, there are tons of things to do that are easily accessible, if one so chooses! Being located on the waterfront of it's own protected bay, the snorkeling is fantastic as well.
As far as amentities, it's like being at home, or better! The full kitchen provides the ability to prepare any mean you might cook at home; enetertainment includes everything you have at home; stereo, TV, DVD and iPod hookups along with a beautifully decorated Great Room/ Living area! I was even able to get some work done, as it includes an internet connection!
Living quarters are equally spectacular with king size beds and beautiful decor! Huge bathrooms and showers are larger than my own! Frankly, if I owned the place, I'd never leave! I will return everytime I can do so!
Jadee is a pleasure to do business with, and will make you feel right at home! She even helped arrange a great deal on a rental car! Her on-site staff of Marcos and Leydi are as friendly as can be, and will do anything asked. They even prepared a couple of dinners for us that were nothing short of a 5 star restaurant, for a fraction of the cost! I give the entie experience a 10 out of 10! -

Casa Caribbean Soul is an amazing home in a lovely place. It's also in a perfect location: close to adventures but quietly secluded. In addition, Marcos and Leydi were wonderful. They took care of everything, so we didn't need to do anything but relax.
Because of the rockiness, I would be hesitant to bring very young children to Casa Caribbean Soul. But we completely enjoyed living so close to the reef. Beach combing, snorkeling, kayaking, watching waves, tide pooling--it was all fascinating and fun.
This was our third trip to the Yucatan Peninsula and the best by far.

Brighton UKPerfect holiday in a fabulous property!
Left on 09/11/2011 for a stay in August 2011
From the moment we rounded the corner first view of Casa Caribbean Soul, we knew that we had found a jewel of a property & that it was going to live up to our high expectations - the photos and reviews on the web and the reality are a perfect match. So if you are wondering if the property could be as good as it looks, the answer is a resounding 'yes'.
The design, decoration and furnishings are of a high standard and a style in keeping with the beach front - the colours of the sea, sand and tropical setting are reflected back in the interior, a perfect holiday setting. The house and beach were beautifully maintained by Marcos & Leydi, who took pride in their work:beach raked each morning, house cleaned from top to bottom 6 days a wk, catering on offer if required.
The climate was lovely with a gentle breeze, the beach enticing with comfortable hammocks & loungers, kayaks & good snorkelling to hand. The coral in the bay is a bit beaten up by hurricanes but is slowly recovering, with plenty of interesting fish & the occasional turtle. We also saw nesting and hatching turtles in the moonlight on the point nearby - a remarkable experience.
Owner Jadee was very pleasant to deal with and the administration of our booking went through very smoothly - wiring the money over from the UK to USa took 3-4 days, but the process worked fine.
The property is in a good situation for exploring the Yucatan. The Mayan temple at Tulum is about a 20 minute drive - you can see it across the bay perched on a cliff top; nearby is a freshwater cenote where you can snorkel through the mangrove roots plus 2 nice restaurants on hand; Coba with its jungle-festooned Mayan temples is about 45 mins away & well worth it to climb a Mayan pyramid (forbidden at many sites now). There is great scuba diving only 20 minutes' drive away in the beautiful bay at akumal, which we did on 2 days.
Casa Caribbean Soul delivered 100% on all aspects and we would certainly like to make another visit! -

Left on 09/03/2011 for a stay in August 2011
If you're looking for a getaway in paradise, this is it! this Villa has all the comforts of a 5 Star Hotel! It's stunning view overlooking the sapphire blue water and white sand beach of the Caribbean, only steps from the back door, are too beautiful for words. No detail overlooked regarding convenience and comfort. True luxury lifestyle. A very friendly staff, a local couple that not only provides daily Maid service and maintenance, but also will cook upon request, and very inexpensive! Cheaper than going out to dinner, and far better! We had several meals prepared, and I must say, it was like having a private Chef and Butler serving us! All in all, I give this Villa, it's beautiful setting and service, a 10 on a 1 to 10 scale! I will be returning for another stay soon!

Pine, COThis was a great place to relax and unwind!
Left on 07/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Stayed here 11 days. Jadee has created a beautiful atmosphere for her home...very well equipped and nicely decorated. The sea Kayaks were fun to take out. It's a little rocky right in front of the house so it's sometimes hard to get in and out for snorkeling. It's easier if you walk down the beach a ways. The snorkeling wasn't as good as some places I've been but it was still good by the reef. I got to see a huge Manta Ray! It rained some while we were there but it was still beautiful. Leydi and Marcos were great. They are great cooks! Some local fishermen stopped by the house one day and Marcos came and got us to see if we wanted to buy some. We bought a kilo of Lobster!...yum...doesn't get much fresher than that! The only thing I had problems with was the oven. It seemed to get unusually hot and the numbers were very hard to read so I wasn't even sure what temperature I had it set on...Maybe a big red dot signifying 350 degrees might be helpful. All in all a great vacation...not at all like staying in the glitzy resorts of Cancun which is what we wanted. There are plenty of good restaurants not far away if you have a car. El Camello in Tulum was a great little seafood place...Not fancy, but great food and cheap ice cold beer! The house was a little bigger than what we needed cause we only had 4 people. It would easily accomodate 3 couples with each having their own bedroom and bathroom. My favorite spot was the rooftop. I sat up there a lot and took in the beautiful scenery. Check this place out...you will definitely not be dissappointed!

Santa Fe, New MexicoFantastic in every way!!!
Left on 05/30/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Our stay at Casa Caribbean Soul was absolutely fantastic, in every way! It was the best vacation experience we've ever had... in Mexico or anywhere else in my various travel experiences in the Caribbean and Europe...and we can't wait to return again. Everything from the warm and very hospitable staff - Marcos and Leydi (who also cook and serve wonderful meals upon request), are quietly there (unobtrusively) to help with anything you need; the property manager, Arlene, who checked on us frequently to make sure everything was 'in order' with the house and property; the incredibly clear and colorful turquoise/blue waters; the beautiful soft white sand beach (which was perfectly groomed every morning before we even woke), the palm and coconut trees swaying in the breeze and offering lots of shady spots to sit under with your favorite book, drink, or favorite friend, or significant other... and then there is the house!! It's very beautifully designed and decorated, offering luxurious comfort in every room. One of our favorite spots was the rooftop palapa bar area, for watching sunsets and sunrises, spending 'happy hour', or sitting under the stars for a romantic evening. We also very much enjoyed the fantastic snorkeling just off the beach, and kayaking when the bay was calm.
And then there is the location. It's splendid - offering privacy and quiet serenity, with absolutely beautiful views, and close enough to see and enjoy so many other scenes and activities within just a few minutes/miles, if you choose to. Our favorite spot was Casa Caribbean Soul - each time we ventured out to see something else, or do something else, we were happiest when we returned. We highly recommend it for everyone (couples, friends or families) - it's perfectly suited for anyone who wants a much nicer experience than the typical resort or hotel.. no matter how nice they are! -

Our 10 day trip to paradise was a dream! The house could not be situated in a better spot, with a constant indirect breeze and no blaring direct sunlight - there's always some nice cool shady spot on their beach under the palm and coconut trees. The reef is right in front of the house for exceptional snorkling in the clear blue and turquoise waters. The views of Tankah Bay and the stars at night were to die for! (especially from the rooftop palapa bar area). The exceptional personal service and authentic home cooking from Marcus & Leydi, the two very friendly and sweet dogs - Peggy and Dulce, the property manager (Arlene) and "locals" personal insight and information were great! The home is spacious and beautiful inside and out. Everything is very nice and very comfortable. Another nice surprise was the privacy and quiet sereneity it offered, but so close to everything if you choose to go anywhere. We loved staying right there the most though... and we hope to visit again and again! Everything about the experience was fantastic - much better than any other vacation experience we've ever had in Mexico (or anywhere else for that matter).

Left on 04/24/2011 for a stay in April 2011
The home is located a short 12minute drive from Tulum and the beach . Its on a very Quiet bay, 30 feet from the water. Do not expect a sandy beach, all of the homes on the Water North of Tulum have a rocky water front. We swam in front of the house and snorkeled. Get Clear on this point . For us it was perfect, we went to the beach in Tulum every day to Kite board. There is a quiet cenote to swim in within walking distance. I would trade this level of quiet and relaxation for the more public sandy beach hotel options any day. This 3 bedroom home has all the amenities we were looking for and is perfect for 3 couples or a family.
The furnishings , linens , appliances and art are all new and of very high quality and tastefully selected. It is a well cared for Home , the care takers live in a small house on the property and are friendly , ready to assist, very professional and trustworthy and are almost invisible. The owners are very easy to deal with and trustworthy. I would stay there again. In fact I can't wait to stay there again.Response from Jadee - 04/25/2011

Hi Keith, and thank you for taking the time to leave me a trip review as well as the positive comments you have left. I am so glad that you ejoyed Tankah Bay and Casa Caribbean Soul! I would like to address the comment about the beach. As you can clearly see in my photos that my home does have a beautiful white sandy and private beach on which we are located. Because of the close proximity of the house to the reef (the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world) there are some coral and rocks along the edge of the water upon entering. There are many areas north of the Tulum beach that offer sandy beaches as Tankah Bay does as far north as Cancun! This is partly why the snorkeling is so incredible in this bay. This is where the beautiful tropical fish, turtles and other abundant marine life live, and feed along this reef and the coral heads that are scattered throughout this bay. I would like to clarify that once you enter the water and swim out a very short distance there is a nice sandy bottom. Tulum is not known for fantastic snorkeling as is Tankah bay making it an excellent choice for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and just about anything else without all of the crowds. I do hope you can visit our "paradise" again, thank you! JHC

But my favorite was just lounging out front with the beach underfoot, the sea beckoning and a chilled cervesa at hand.

As a musician, I have been all over the world...and am the first to admit that I can be very 'particular' when it comes to my vacations and down time. Right from the onset, Casa Caribean Soul exceeded all of our expectations!!! It was like having a slice of paradise to enjoy for just the two of us...from the breath-taking sunsets we viewed from the rooftop patio, to our own private stretch of white sand beach to enjoy. There was such a tranquility at the property, no dealing with loud, crowded beaches over-run by screaming tourists...the snorkeling was amazing as were the sunrise strolls on the beach! Everything was at your fingertips from swimming in the warm blue waters of the bay, to just swinging in the hammock strumming my guitar. It was the perfect blend of privacy, yet close enough to see attractions like the ruins of tulum without going out of your way. Casa recharged our batteries like no other vacation we have ever taken and it will be the vacation that all others will be judged by...we can hardly wait to go back...and we will, again and again!!! Words are not adequate to describe how amazing our stay was...I would rate this higher than the 5 stars allotted if I could!!! A definite must stay when venturing to the rivierra maya!

We would happily rent Casa Caribbean Soul again. It is very comfortable, immaculately clean, and situated right on the beach. I think the beds are always important, and these are excellent mattresses and nice sheets. The air conditioning worked well and the bathrooms were beautiful.
The view over the water is gorgeous, and the beach is lovely. It is a rocky walk going into the water and one must wear shoes or booties. The water inside the bay is turquoise, clear, gentle and not too deep. What we could see of the reef shows much silting over by the hurricanes in the last decade, but I think that is true all over the upper Caribbean.
We wished we could have opened windows at night to hear the surf, but we were advised to keep them locked. I'm sure that is true for any private home in the area, and we always felt perfectly safe.
The Mayan couple who cook and clean are lovely people and we had wonderful fresh fish dinners several nights.
We would go back tomorrow if we could!Response from Jadee - 02/08/2011
Owner
Susan, thank you for choosing Casa Caribbean Soul and it sounds like you did enjoy yourselves.
I feel bad that you did not sleep at night with your bedroom doors and windows open! When I advised you to keep things "locked up" I meant if you were to be leaving the property to be sure that all is locked up. And at night when everyone turns in to their respective bedrooms to be sure that all the windows and doors are locked just as you would do at home.
Believe it or not some people think that just because you are in "paradise" there is no reason to lock things up when leaving the property or going to sleep at night! Just as in any place there is a risk in not locking up and it makes it very easy for those that are looking for this type of opportunity .
I am so sorry for this miscommunication as sleeping with the bedroom windows and doors open is perfectly lovely and would not have been a problem. Sorry for the confusion and I hope you do return sometime so you can experience this for yourself!
Thank you again, JHC -

My friends and I spent an unforgettable Thanksgiving week at Casa Caribbean Soul. The caretakers, Marcos and Lady, were exceptionally thoughtful and caring. Everyday our beds were made up, house was cleaned and before the sun starts to rise, Marcos and Lady are out on the beach raking it and putting all the cushions out on the lounge chairs. The, us bought, Cali King size beds were the most comfortable imaginable and each room opens to a balcony or terrace with a spectacular view of Tankah Bay. We Kayaked and snorkeled right from the house...the ocean is only a few feet away. Casa Caribbean Soul is absolutely the most beautiful house on Tankah Bay and I will definitely be going back. Can't recommend it enough!!!

Without reservation I'd recommend this home to anyone who likes a vacation home with all the upgrades. The staff was discrete and attentive to our needs. The home itself, the grounds, the beach area in front are perfectly maintainedf. For those interested in dining at the home we tried four meals from the menu and found each prepared fresh, presented professionally and delicious.
It was a quiet beach and we did not see many others during our stay. We walked both Soliman Bay and Tankah Bay, comparing all of the villas and grounds and this villa stood out as the best one to choose. Just the right amount of landscaping, to both offer views and provide a little privacy. Also, it is ideally situated to hear the rolling surf and capture the ocean breezes.
I could go on and on, but the bottom line is everything is easy to do from here and doing nothing is easy to do from here. As day time enthusiasts we drove to Tulum Centro to walk the neighborhoods and eat downtown. We drove to Tulum Beach for Salsa lessons and dancing at La Zebra on Sunday nights. We went to the Tulum and Coba ruins both along well maintained roads. A day trip to Playa del Carmen for sight seeing, and over to Cozumel for some grand snorkeling using a small tour outfit booked at the ferry pier. We also snorkeled and dove in a cenote nearby. All the roads were good, we always felt safe and no pre-planning reservations were required for anything we sought to do during our stay.
The only thing I did not prefer is the lighting on the patio dining area. I prefer incandescent light with a dimmer or candlelight for my meals. It is an easy fix, the recessed fixtures are there. The solution for us was to dim the interior dining room fixture (incadescent) and this provided us with enough light to eat by. A hurricane lamp for candles outside would be a nice touch.

What a wonderful villa that is just beautifully decorated and has all the necessities of home! What you see is what you get - it is as attractive as it looks online - maybe more so. Roomy, quiet seclusion will keep us coming back; not to mention the attentiveness of the staff and owner. Every detail was taken care of prior to our arrival, including destination suggestions, which made for an easy transition from the daily hustle to total relaxation and peace. We were close enough to enjoy the delights of Tulum and akumal and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay at Casa Caribbean Soul.

The Villa provided My husband & I with the seclusion and privacy in a beautiful setting we were looking for with still plenty to do for my young adult children. We had a great time and every need was met by the wonderful staff. The villa was beautiful and so comfortable. I have stayed in several lovely villas in the area and I have to say, this was my favorite. The wireless internet access was wonderful to keep tabs on home and work and what a view you have from every room while you check on home. The rooftop observation deck is amazing and a perfect spot for an evening cocktail or early morning coffee. I have to say my #1 pleasantry was the beds. Usually the beds in Mexico are very hard, (don't confuse with firm) even in the nicest resorts the beds are not that comfortable but Carribean Soul has very comfortable beds and as I have problems with a stiff back, it was a wonderful bonus. Every room was so great, it was hard to call one the master. The staff was attentive to our every need but never intrusive. I would highly recommend this vacation rental to anyone. My whole family had the a wonderful time, ages 18 to 52, so that is quite a range to please. The setting is pretty secluded, which is what I love, but if you are looking for crowds, glitzy lights and non stop action with 4 lane highways and shopping malls, go to Miami, but if you are looking for the true amore of the Carribean, seclusion with still plenty near by, in a comfortable, beautiful villa with total privacy and a wonderful staff to attend to your every need, Carribean Soul is what you are looking for.

This lovely home on Tankah Bay absolutely offered the best of everything. The snorkeling was amazing! The coral reef is just offshore, and we were delighted to be able to see a gorgeous variety of marine life just by wading into the crystal clear water. We are accustomed to paying to go out on chartered snorkeling tours, but we were amazed to find that it was completely unnecessary as the beauty of the Caribbean coral reef was at our doorstep. The home was very private and we rarely saw other vacationers. Usually there were no other people in sight in the entire bay, and we had our own private beach. There are no large hotels or resorts on this bay which mainly consists of private homes. Jadee's home has the prime lot on the bay as it is so private and has the best views. The house itself was clearly not built primarily as a rental property. Every detail, down to the light fixtures, is extraordinary in quality and aesthetically pleasing. The linens are fine quality and the bedrooms are so luxurious you just want to pile up in bed and gaze out over the balcony at the sea. The kitchen is extremely well stocked, but don't bother to cook for yourself when Leydi can prepare the most sumptuous meals, and she and Marcos will serve you like royalty. (That was one of my favorite parts!)With all the privacy, you might think there is nothing else to do, but that is certainly not the case. This home is much closer to the major attractions of the Riviera Maya than Cancun, and I was amazed at the delightful restaurants and shops on the beach in Tulum just minutes away. The ruins at Tulum are a must do, and the Coba ruins are under an hour by car. We snorkeled in a cenote just by walking down our lane. We were so glad we decided to vacation in this fabulous home instead of staying in Cancun or a resort farther north. We felt completely safe during our stay, and we were able to experience Mexico at its best instead of an american vacation transplanted into the Yucatan.

The beach, with turquoise/emerald green water, is right out the back door, and beckons to you to snorkel, kayak, walk, tan, or just relax and read. The cartakers live in the pretty casita on the property and every morning rake the sand, sweep and/or mop the beautiful mosaic tile patio. They do the housekeeping, etc. and are just delightful - they even cooked two beautiful and delicious meals for us. The accommodations were superb and Jadee made sure our stay was comfortable and memorable.

This was our second stay at Cassa Caribbean Soul. It is a great house with plenty to see and do right at your doorstep. Nearby there is a "Cenote" -- a spectacular spring-fed river with great visibility and lots of fish.
The caretakers, Marcus and Laydee, are very friendly and put a lot of effort into making sure you have a good stay. They prepared two wonderful dinners for us on our arrival day and our last night. There's not a better view to be had in any area restaurant, and so convenient to just pop downstairs after watching the sunset from the roof top deck. -

Our stay at the gorgeous Casa was splendid! Overlooking the bay, beautifully situated not far from the breaking waves on the reef, the shoreline is inviting to swim, snorkel through and around coral formations, and kayak (2 provided) around the amazingly clear multihued waters of Tankah Bay, located just a few miles north of Tulum. The Tulum Mayan temple is faintly visible in the distance across the bay. Just down the very private and low traffic access road are two excellent and mellow places to eat and drink and soak up the Caribean beachfront ambience, and also a super-cool "cenote" freshwater swimming hole that must be the nicest place for a dip we've ever experienced. The house is very clean and staffed by a wonderful couple, Marcos and Leydi - you will be very glad if you have a dinner or two that they prepare. The whole experience was really fantastic and we would not do anything differently for our family spring-break week vacation. CL/DesMoines

Left on 03/24/2010 for a stay in August 2008
I suppose the best test to apply to any experience is, "would you do it again"? The answer is yes, absolutely!
To begin, the villa was ideal. The spacious bedrooms were sparkling clean, large closets, bathrooms and showers with a wonderful view of the beautiful bay just a few yards from the grounds.
The roof top with an open bar area provided magnificent views of the tropical evening sunsets across the bay and of the surrounding area.
We took advantage of the two kayaks provided to paddle all over the bay both inside and outside the surrounding reef and to snorkel the warm waters.
The meals prepared by the wife of the groundskeeper were delicious and an unexpected pleasant surprise.
When we felt the need to return to "civilization" to shop, eat out and just sightseeing the town of Tulum was in easy reach. I might add the locals were all very friendly and accommodating. Other popular sightseeing destinations such as the Mayan ruins which provides many "Kodak moments" was within easy driving distance. We did get caught outside during one of the tropical rains on this visit with one umbrella and four people to share it with. This just provided us with another experience to laugh about later.
The only real downer for the whole trip was the day we had to pack to leave this wonderful place.
and return home. -

Our stay was wonderful. The home is very private and secluded on a beach that is all private homes or very small hotels. The home itself is one of the most private, as there are no neighbors directly on either side. The reef in front of the house is definitely rocky, water shoes were necessary. However, we experienced some of the best snorkeling that we have ever seen, and if you go out a bit further the water is deep enough to swim but calm enough that we felt safe the whole time. The homeowner has 2 kayaks available which were a lot of fun. There is a cenote within walking distance which also was one of the most amazing snorkeling experiences that we have ever had. There are some small restaurants that you can walk to but it is worth it to rent a car so that you can drive to town (10 minutes) for groceries and food. The housekeepers were wonderful, attentive to everything we needed but staying mostly out of the way unless we asked them for something. Leydi is a fantastic cook and Marcos procured some amazing fish and lobsters for us. The home itself is beautiful, comfortable, and was nicer than some hotels we have stayed in. The rental experience itself was problem free, the homeowner was very prompt in answering all of our questions and dealing with the contracts and payments. All in all, we feel that we got an excellent value for the money that we spent and will definitely absolutely return again.

From first contacting Jadee to enquire about the property to finally arriving the transaction went extremely smoothly. Jadee responded to my many e-mails with amazing promptness throughout the process.
On arrival we were met by Marcos and Leydi who were delightful and were attentive without being intrusive.
The house was beautifully kept (by Leydi and Marcos) and had the most wonderful views from all the bedrooms.
The outside space was also beautifully maintained - even down to Marcos "raking" the sand daily! The dogs were also very clean and friendly!
Snorkelling in the bay was not as good as we had hoped but we feel this was due to the windy weather and churned up waters. This did not deter us and we had wonderful swims in the nearby cenote, at Akumel beach(10 minute drive) with the turtles and Tulum beach - spectacular coastline. Also a wonderful trip snorkelling in the caves.
This was our first time to the Mayan riviera and we loved it - fascinating history, wonderful beaches, good mexican food and delightful friendly people.
We just hope Tulum will not be spoilt in the years to come by mass tourism.
All in all a wonderful trip - I am sure we will return one day!Response from Jadee - 03/02/2010

Ita,
I am truly glad your experience in Tankah and at my home met your expectations! I am so sorry the weather conditions during your stay prevented you from having the ideal snorkeling experience in the bay!
We are having uncharacteristic "winter" weather in Tankah this year and as a result of that have had a great deal more wind and cooler temps than what is normal for us for this time of year.
I do hope you visit Tankah again as the snorkeling is really fantastic and would love to have you back anytime!

Yes, they describe it correctly: it really is a beautiful beachfront villa with incredible snorkeling.
We had a great view of the beach from our bedroom, with a walk-in shower, and lots of counter space. We watched sunsets from the roof, sipped margaritas, and read novels in the lounge chairs and hammocks.
A short ways down the road is a cenote (underground water supply), where we snorkeled, too. About six miles away is Tulum, where we explored Mayan ruins (the only ones on the coast). We also explored the ruins at Chichen Itsa a couple of hours away, and there are lots more in the region. Down the coast is Belize, where English is the official language. Up the coast is Cancun, where we took a ferry to Isla Mujeres. The whole coast has one incredible resort after another, with lots of things to do, things to buy.
The on-site caretakers kept the house and grounds immaculate, and we highly recommend you hire the cook, who prepared the best Mexican food we have had anywhere.
We recommend that you use the ATM to get pesoes, because you get a better exchange rate. The taxi drivers charge by the zone, not by the mile, so you can haggle with them. The food you buy in the grocery stores is a lot different from that of the USA, and getting a great cup of coffee with pastry is a little difficult.
But all in all, we had a great time. The weather was sunny and warm, but not hot, and the breezes coming in from the sea kept the air circulating. Clouded over maybe once or twice during the two weeks we were there. Surely it was a very relaxing vacation.
We would definitely return. -

I loved every minute of my time here. Excellent service - Leyte & Marcos were charming & attentive without being obtrusive in any way. we opted to have meals prepared by them - which turned out to be better than many restaurants we've been to. In fact, the food was really great and it was tough not to be tempted to eat too much.
The house was impressive in just it's design, but it was also beautifully decorated. Far from ordinary, it was comfortable, sparkling clean and gives a feeling of spaciousness while maintaining cozy areas. The rooftop bar was one of my favorite places, though the beautiful private beach is tough competition. The trouble with hammocks is you just don't ever want to get up, not when you're looking at the sunsets we were seeing!
There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, ruins at Tulum and Chichen Itza, Isla Mujeres, cenotes...a lot to see and do in just 2 wks so I'll guess we'll have to go back to do the rest. Somehow I don't think I'll have to twist any arms.

Very luxurious and comfortable house. The pictures, if anything, do not do it justice. It was perfect for 3 couples and the snorkeling in the "backyard" (the lagoon bordered by the coral reef) is amazing. Really an idyllic place. The only very minor downsides: the access road isn't very well maintained and was riddled with pot holes when we were there. Also, we had to be careful getting into the water because of the abundance of sea urchins.
The property manager (and owner) Jadee was very nice, helpful and made the rental process painless.
The caretakers Marcos and Leydi were super attentive and kept both the house and the beach spotless.
Overall a really wonderful experience. Highly recommended.Response from Jadee - 01/25/2010

Thank you Mathilde I am so glad you enjoyed your stay!
The road into the bay from the Federal hwy(307) can become a bit annoying. The summer months are our wettest months normally during the year and with the traffic in and out of our road this is normally when it starts to deteriorate.
We as homeowners in Tankah do collectively maintain the road and this is done on an average of about 1 time a year and have the road graded and more road base laid down. It is usually about this time of year(January) that all of these repairs happen.
Unfortunately for you the repairs were started the week that you returned back home and the road is really nice and smooth now!
The situation with the sea urchins is such that it changes regularly.
Because of the close proximity of my house to the reef there is always going to be more marine life just steps away from my beach into the water. The sea urchins are not always as plentiful as they have been in the last couple of months and with most things goes in cycles, so does this. There are sometimes very few of them at all! I guess it is just one of the little things that you have to tolerate when you are in a great snorkeling area! I hope that you and your family come back again to Tankah soon! Jadee H. Craig -

My husband and I spent a simply delightful vacation at a beautiful beach front home just outside of Tulum, Mexico. The area provides much to do and plenty to see.
The ruins at Tulum are fascinating. We were amazed at the building skills of the ancient people, not to mention the sheer size. A visit there should certainly be part of your stay. It is very well organized and transportation and fees are quite reasonable. Don't miss a day on the Tulum beach. It's unbelievable. Powder white sand and palm trees and huge.
We dined at several charming restaurants in the area and found the food exceptional and the service outstanding. Several of these were places that we simply wandered into with no foreknowledge and still we were very pleasantly pleased. Especially since neither of us speak much Spanish. However if dining out is not your cup of tea, you couldn't do better than having breakfast, dinner or lunch on the patio, in the dining room or on the rooftop at Casa de Caribbean Soul. The view is fabulous and "Lady", one-half of the couple that kept the house tidy and well run proved to be an outstanding cook as well as an organized housekeeper. Her husband had the beach clean and cushions on the chairs every morning and hammocks ready for a
siesta. They live on site and we found them attentive, helpful, willing and friendly, but never intrusive. Actually I would have been content to relax at the house more, but we wanted to experience the area's culture while we were there.
We had a few days of unseasonably cool weather and so chose not to scuba in the beautiful bay. We were disappointed to miss seeing the reef up close and personal, but being Texan, we don't do cool very well. Ahh--something to look forward to on our next visit.
We were able to arrange for massages on the beach at the house. The two that came to do them were remarkably good. I can critic this service honestly, as we have been salon/spa owners for years.
