Il Colombaio is a peaceful oasis in the heart of Chianti Classico, with expansive views on rolling hills and rows of vineyards. The location, near the village of Gaiole in Chianti, is perfect for visiting the several hilltop villages such as Radda, Castellina and Greve, and the many fortified castles and walled abbeys of the area. Siena is also at less than 16 km away. The property was completely restored bought by an American family who used to be tenant themselves and now decided to have their own holiday home in Tuscany. They equipped the beautiful huge terrace stretching along the west side of the house for outdoor meals and also for sitt...ing and relaxing, making it an ideal place where to rest and enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Chianti landscape. They also built a beautiful pool (14 x 7m) located a few steps below the terrace in one of the flat loans of the property, making it ideal for families with children. The discreet yet comfortably furnished interiors combining country style with a modern touch suggests a pleasant ambience. A particular feature is the very well equipped kitchen opening on to the terrace, ideal for those who love cooking and enjoy 'al fresco' dining.

SWIMMING POOLS - Swimming pools are not open all year. If your rental period is outside the period May 30th to October 3rd, please check with us that the pool can be opened. Swimming pools are not enclosed with fences and there are no lifeguards. Clients’ use of the swimming pool is at their own risk.
HEATING - Heating is available at an additional charge of 50 Euro per day and must be paid directly on the spot to the owner or his/her representative before departing. Please note that heating in Italy, when not subject to restrictions by the local Government, is more expensive compared to other countries. If you look for a property in low season, make sure to ask for an estimate of the heating cost. You may be asked a supplementary deposit for heating expenses.
WATER AND ELECTRICITY - Please note that most of the properties that we offer are not the typical purpose-built Mediterranean holiday villas. Most are converted farmhouses or former manor houses, full of character and history. Water shortages do occur; please use it sparingly during the summer months. At the same time, Italy is probably one of the few countries in the world where the government has introduced a system of electricity limitators to contain the national consumption. This means you must be careful when using more than one appliance at once because the limitator will shut the electricity off.
INTERNET CONNECTION - Many of our properties have an internet connection. From our experience, when a connection is interrupted due to technical reasons beyond our control, it is unfortunately very difficult, despite our efforts, to receive immediate assistance from some of the internet providers operating in Italy. We therefore strongly suggest that those who need to access their emails should bring their own BlackBerry, or a similar portable device. Please note that in any case we cannot accept responsibility for lack of these services.
LOW SLUNG CARS - VANS – MINIBUSES - Most of our houses are located in the countryside. Some of them can be accessed only by unsealed roads and driveways. We therefore advise people intending to take a sports or low-slung car on holiday, to check with us first whether the access to the property allows for such a car. We advise against the use of vans and minibuses. Please always check with us, at the time of booking, if you are planning to use this type of vehicle when staying at one of our properties.Read more

A great house in a beautiful region for a relaxing week.

We stayed at Il Colombaio as a group of 6 adults and one baby. Despite some unseasonal weather, we had a fantastic time and especially enjoyed the kitchen and terrace. The house is in a great location to get to several towns and we went on several day trips during our stay. The house was very comfortable and well-stocked with kitchen equipment, and even some baby toys. Fantastic huge tables both on the terrace and in the kitchen. - Katherine B., New York, USA

Villa Il Colombaio was a wonderful property... It\'s well located and very rural... The property was larger then then handful of pics on the website led us to believe... All of the surfaces, and fixtures were of a very nice standard... The landscaping & hardscaping on the property was exceptional and well maintained. The kitchen is fantastic for cooking once you learn to operate the oven (it\'s a gas / electric pro model and the oven only works in conjunction with the timer... if you don\'t figure this out you\'ll never get the oven on)... the refrigerators are a little weak and need to be replaced... probably not a big deal, unless you show up with a lot of food as we did to have all of our meals there for 13 people for 7 days...The outdoor loggia is just steps off the kitchen and worked wonderfully for all our meals... The pool is large, the water was very clean & warm... it was all good! we had a couple of small problems that the villa manager Annie handled very promptly. She was g - Tom H., Pennsylvania, USA

Absolutely incredible. Villa Il Colombiao surprised even out wildest expectations. The home is beautiful, the landscaping incredible, and the views undescribe-able The minute we walked into the house, we never our plans to explore the region changed so we could just enjoy more time at the Villa with each other. The absolute highlight is the outdoor eating area. We spend hours and hours there eating, drinking, laughing and enjoy each other\'s company. Plus, we are a loud group and were comforted by the fact this Villa sat on a hillside by itself, so we could enjoy games and laughing until late hours. This property is the quintessential Tuscan home and we are thankful to be able to spend one of the most amazing vacations here. - Kerry S., Washington, USA
