Overall the stay was great! Cabin was easy to find, close to town and beautiful. We will definitely be going back to visit. There 3 things we had issues with though.
The heater stopped working the first night, lucky for us there was a wood burning stove.
It was listed as a non-smoking cabin, yet there was a bucket with a couple dozen cigarette butts in it on the porch and a few butts laying in the driveway.
Wifi never worked.
Overall we had a wonderful experience and are looking forward to our next trip to Twain Harte. -
Santa Clara, CA, United StatesOverall A Great Experience
Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We visited the area to enjoy the snow with our kids. For that purpose it was great - centrally located but in a very quiet residential area. The wood stove and jacuzzi bath made for great relaxation after a day climbing hills for sledding and the kitchen/laundry facilities were very handy. The non-functioning Internet and Cable were the only real annoyance and the management company seemed unable to resolve them. My wife fell due to a broken chair, but no harm done. We were very pleased by the helpful handyman (Nick) that went out of his way to drop off firewood the first night. Again, it was overall a positive experience and I'd definitely consider returning.

Pillows flat. Bedspreads faded. It is time to invest in some new bed covers and pillows for your renters. Kitchen worked well for us. The decks were nice. Dog friendly, but would be helpful if there was even some small area fenced in for a dog to be outside.

My family has been vacationing in Twain Harte for years and this was our first time renting a cabin as the family has outgrown staying in my grandmothers cabin in town. The cabin was nice, however upon entering there was a very musty smell in the downstairs and it was so bad that we actually had one couple sleep on the couch upstairs both nights to avoid the smell. For us the downstairs was not usefull. The second floor had no smell and was very spacious and nice. The main reasons we will try to reserve a different cabin next year is that the drive way was very steep and it was tough to back out of as well as transfer my young nephew in and out of his car seat. The second reason is the neighbor seemed to be an "interesting" character. On our first day we left my dog (note the cabin is a pet friendly location) for roughly 5 mins and I received a call from the THVR office saying the neighbor complained about my dog barking and she was going to call animal control. I admit my dog did bark as well pulled out of the driveway, but then he stopped. And when we returned to the cabin 5 mins later he was not barking. Also each time we pulled out of the driveway (very slowly because it was so steep) the neighbor would walk out on her porch and watch with her hands on her hips. It was a little strange. But this is not THVR's fault and we will just try to find antoher cabin next time to avoid these minor inconveniences. Overall, a good trip.

Fremont, Ca, United StatesDisappointed with the Spruce 65 upkeep
Left on 01/03/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We rented two cabins - #17 and #65. #65 has been my worst cabin stay ever. Bedding/sofa were dirty (something you'll get 3rd hand from craigslist) , the balcony doors would not lock, heaters were very old and not working. The only saving grace was kitchen and bathrooms.Had they been dirty too, we would have left. By comparison, the other cabin was clean, nicely furnished, had more board games, cards, books etc at the same price!!!

The pilot light blew out the first night we were there (Monday). The handy man arrived Tuesday and relit it. Tuesday night was very pleasant. The pilot light blew out again on Wednesday night. Both Monday and Wednesdahy were freezing and very uncomfortable. I expect to have heat if I pay $175 per night. I would not stay at this house again during the winter.

We had a great stay - although the weather could have been warmer - unusually chilly for June. The only thing I would do differently next time is to pick someplace with better walking access to town or to the lake - our kids are 5 and 7 and it was just too far for them to walk either way without complaining. Driving access and parking at our destinations was fine though.

Parking was the only issue. Driveway is steep and difficult to walk on.

Petaluma, CANot a cabin for cooking and hanging out in.

Upon our arrival, I spent my first hour cleaning all the deck furniture. Then bedspreads were stained. The carpet was filthy. There was no proper cookware unless you considered Kraft mac and cheese or top ramen a meal.
