Our two families had a great time in Happy Trails! The house is spacious, clean and very well equipped. It is conveniently located near Down Town Twain Harte, and close to the Golf course. We will definitely return to Happy Trails in years to come.

As usual, superb. Very nice upgrades to an already comfortable and appealing cabin. Our doggies, YorkiePoos loved it too, especially barking at the large deer on the other side of the fence. The deer ignored them.

Lancaster, CAPet-Friendly Is Always a Requirement for Us
Left on 10/10/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We vacation with our dogs. A securely fenced yard is a requirement. The backyard worked for our German Shepherd. We did not bring the other 2 dogs, but if we had they would have also been fine. (27 pound terrier mix and a 27 pound spaniel mix) The chain link fencing had no escape routes unless your dog either digs under, jumps over, or is a fence climber.
Our other requirement is a washer and dryer. I am not spending any of my vacation time at the laundromat.
The free Wifi and cable TV were also appreciated.
It was warm/hot there in August with no breeze, but it cooled off nicely at night. We used the portable box fan that was provided. There were only 2 of us plus the dog. If there had been more we might have wished for more fans to be used in different parts of the house.
The family room and living room are on opposite ends of the house. This might be advantageous for larger groups with kids and adults. (Be sure to look for the secret door in the family room.)
Lots of spices were provided, but many were out of date. This reminded me of my own kitchen. Bring your own if this is important to you. There are quite a few pots and pans. There is a need for replacement frying pans as the stove requires flat bottom pans, and the old frying pans no longer have flat bottoms.
The special laundry detergent that is required for the front loading washing machine is provided.
We enjoyed the Farmer's Market on Fridays and being able to cook at home. There are at least 2 pet-friendly restaurants. We were able to have dinner on the patio with our dog at the Mexican restaurant. They had a shrimp entree that was wonderful.
The only reason I marked 4 stars rather than 5 on cleanliness was because each time I had to retrieve the dog's ball from under or behind the 2 couches it was obvious that no one cleans there.
Our entire deposit was returned in one week.

Left on 07/11/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Two grandparents, two grown up children, their spouses, and four grandchildren. Our third year at Happy Trails, Loved the new fridge, new range and oven. New toaster, toaster oven combo not a good big deal Our two yorkie poos think Happy Trails is another home. Every year, I sit on the patio on the enormously comfortable reclining chairs and am filled with serenity looking at the huge surrounding trees. We will be returning next year. Our only complaint is the $5.00 per person fee at the lake. This is $40/day for our family. We were there 14 days...or $560.00. I know this is not the cabin owners fault, but it still rankles a bit.

Best place we've stayed at for children and pets. The kitchen is modern, clean and well equipped. Large bathtub and large shower, also. Game room/den is isolated from the rest of the house. Ping pong table was an unexpected surprise. Fenced in yard. Didn't even see the garage until we were ready to leave. A fairly steep driveway, but safe and plenty of parking. Five or six steps to the front door, and almost everything else is on one level. The lake privileges are a must for our family!

Left on 02/24/2011 for a stay in July 2010
I stayed at Happy Trails with my two boys, ages 8 and 12 for an entire week. We had various friends and family stay with us for different times during the week. I've rented 3 different houses in Twain Harte and I have to say this was my favorite. I loved the fact that there were no lofts! Lofts in Twain Harte in summer = hot rooms that are basically useless. I loved the layout of the house and the ping-pong table. I loved bringing my Labradoodle puppy. The lake is so fun! My boys like coming to Twain Harte almost as much as going to Hawaii!!

Left on 01/01/2011 for a stay in December 2010
The property was not clean when we arrived from the previous guest but maintenance crew arrived shortly and cleaned the premisses. The phone call previously placed to the property rental manager was very promptly returned. We were very satisfied with the response and would rent the property again.

We've stayed in the same cabin for 10 years - although in the past it had a different name, different owners, etc. We've never been disappointed when we are there. It has everything needed for a relaxing vacation. We will be back!

Had a nice stay. Yard and Fence were great for our pet. House was nice and clean, but kitchen could use a few more amenities - refrigerator took a long time to get cold, no coffee grinder, could use more large serving bowls... Also, water pressure was very low throughout cabin. Kids loved the games and ping pong table.

Redwood City, CAA great four days.
Left on 09/20/2009 for a stay in September 2009
We had a great getaway. The place, the weather, and the quiet were just what we needed. At the end there was an emergency health issue, but that all came out OK. The only suggestion I would have is better lighting in the living room for reading. I actually moved a lamp from the bunk bed bedroom to the living room so my husband and I had proper light for reading.

Redwood, CAIt's a miracle!
Left on 06/18/2008 for a stay in June 2008
We had a great time at Black Hawk 63. It was spacious, very clean, well appointed and the yard for the dogs was incredible. The only problem we had was with the hot water heater. We didn't realize that the pilot had been turned to "pilot only" so the heat didn't come on. We found this out with our first shower. My husband found the problem and saved the day. I would suggest including a note with instruction so that people can make this adjustment when they arrive.
Thank you to Brenda (I hope that's the right name)for all your help. We'll be back. Susan Allen -

We had a great stay. Very comfortable inside, with lots of room for our kids--the playroom is great! Our dog had trouble deciding where to relax, and the fenced yard was a relief. The kitchen was well outfitted, probably the best we've seen in a rental, and we really felt at home with so much room. We had a great time skiing, first time with our kids, and the short drive to Dodge Ridge was very convenient. We love Twain Harte, would definitely stay here again and the people at Twain Harte Vacation Rentals make it all very fast and easy to have a great stay.
