We felt at home immediately. This is a great old house with tons of character and plenty of room. This trip was along with my daughter/son in law, with several of their friends who live in the Savannah area dropping in. Grilling and hanging out in the yard before/after the beach. Fun in the play area.Lots of room for them and visitors upstairs, and I had the full private apartment downstairs. All for the price of 2 tiny hotel rooms.
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars for location is that there is no ocean view, but it is a cool one minute walk through the dunes to the beach for amazing sunrises and moon rises (if you're there during a full moon). Unspoiled beach with a real family atmosphere. Easy bike rides anywhere on the island and ride the beach for exercise and people watching. This was the cleanest, safest beach vacation we have ever had.

Thanks for the great comment about My Beach House, 15 18th Terrace , original 1930s beach cottage. Yes, the private suite downstairs is perfect if someone wants a separate but still in the same house - place. And you have your own kitchen ,too. I love adding special vintage and comfortable items to My Beach House and glad you enjoyed them. The fenced backyard is indeed convenient and we like the inground park style charcoal grill. Glad you liked how clean it was - that is my goal!! My Beach House sleeps 10 so I agree that it is a DEAL especially when compared with hotel rooms that don't have kitchens and livingrooms either. Yes, I don't advertise it as ocean view since you have to get in the very corner of the porch to see the ocean.

This was our first attempt at a Tybee Island family vacation and it was a very good experience. My Beach House was a lovely beach cottage, circa 1930's. Our son and his wife and 2 children enjoyed the upstairs (King-size bed, two Twin beds, fouton, kitchen and wonderful screened-in porch) while my wife and I enjoyed the cozier, studio downstairs(Queen sized bed, fouton, small kitchen). The downstairs bed was pretty close and against the wall on one side so the inside sleeper had to crawl over the outside sleeper to get out of bed. Not an area for plus-sized guests. Could have used more hangars on the walls to hang clothes so they would dry better. One small dresser; two small closets. We packed everything in plastic tubs so just lived out of them. Indoor propane heater was Wonderul and decreased humidity inside beautifully. Only one of 4 burners worked on downstairs stove but upstairs stove worked fine. Quiet neighborhood and upstairs porch had wonderful breeze. Short walk to beach but not a scenic one. Avoid grass/clover in late day or early morning. Chiggers or grass mites very active. Location is great and easy walk to shops and restaurants. Sleeping 10 would be OK with 4 adults and 6 kids but 10 adults would not be very comfortable and, certainly, not very private. Manager, Lauren Davis, was very efficient to work with and maintained good email contact prior to our stay. Very easy check-in (just show up, Key in lock-box with previously recieved code). Will Definately utilize My Beach House Rentals again. We love Tybee Island and it's unpretentious demeanor and it's closeness to Savannah for day trips or evenings out. Kids loved the enclosed ping-pong table downstairs. Cottage was very clean when we arrived with plenty of towels. Small washer and dryer downstairs. Plenty of dishes, glasses, silverware and pots and pans. All in all, a very good experience and we would return in a heartbeat!

Shoot - that is supposed to say Beachside of Butler Ave but I guess Flip key cut off some of my words since was probably too long. I just never noticed it but will change the title now. Thanks for letting me know.
** Adding more hooks/hangers is a great idea. Would you say in the bedrooms? or more in baths? Will do that!!
***Also, I wish I had known the burners on the downstairs stove were not working so I could have fixed them for you. You can guarantee I will get them fixed right now!! Just need some new coil/burners I bet. They have them at Chu's close by. Again, good to know about that.
**Path to beach: Hmm, would love to help with that one but the DNR won't let us touch anything in the dunes. Big violation. Hope you saw where you could walk to beach on wooden crossover on 18th Street? Not private like yours but all level. Maybe I should tell everyone about that.
Bed downstairs: Yep, it is a tight squeeze. There is only so much room there since the queen bed is tucked into an alcove - - and wondering if I should put in bunk beds - - or make that area the livingroom and put the bed where the living area is. Hmmm. I can see where that would be a pain.
Again, you have been very helpful and have been very good guests. Would love to have you back,

Lauren, this was our first visit to Tybee Island and our first beach stay in the state. We have been blessed to stay with many places but as I mentioned in my emails to you your hospitality goes above and beyond. We loved being able to spend time in your beach home. This is the first time we felt at home in a beach rental. We thought all beds were comfortable and linens were above expectations. We will be back.

The house was immaculate and had every home supply you could possible need. Bowman's Seafood had an incredible selection of seafood and the house the perfect kitchen in which to cook said seafood. The beach was great and the sunset was so perfect that two in our group got engaged on the beach. Property manager was very informative and helpful. I would recommend this house for anyone who loves good food, good views and good values!

My family and I enjoyed our visit to Tybee Island. The upper level of the beach house was perfect, quaint, and comfortable. The lower level wasn't as nice, but suitable. We had planned to let my sister in law stay in the "summer house" in the backyard, that was reported to be habitable, but with no screens on the window and a dirty and ancient mattress, it definitely wasn't somewhere a human would want to sleep!
We enjoyed being able to walk to dinner and shops in the evenings. The distance to the beach was further than we expected and required walking through several other resident's yards. Thank you so much for your comments. It always helps to know what our guests think. Please note that the "summer house" My Little Beach House is not advertised as a sleeping area - it is just a small playhouse or entertainment area as it has a DVD player. I am sorry if there was a misunderstanding about whether is was inhabitable - as far as sleeping - no - website says it is not and has no AC or heat. It is in original condition and just too cute to put AC in.
Path to beach is on shared - deeded access - for the houses on the private lane . Yes, you do walk along the fence by another house but that is the way all private lanes are on the island. I do have some other houses closer to the beach but they are more costly.

If everything worked, it would have been better. The telephones were out of order for most of our stay. The stoves were not in good working order. It was a very long walk to the beach and then you had to climb over, up and down the sand dunes. Thought there would be a crosswalk, but there wasn't. Hard for older people. Won't stay there again.

Thank you so much for your review. I understand your concerns. I was able to get the phone company to come though right away i thought and fixed the issue. I also brought by a new phone but tested the phones there and they were ok. Remember that the phone tech found that the neighbor had cut the line when he installed fence and we just dound at out.
Also thanks for letting me know about the burner not working on stove. Glad you had two stoves though. One upstairs ans one downstairs
My Beach House is on a private lane which means there are no wooden crosswalks like on the streets with parking meters
The DNR has strict rules about adding crosswalks and it is almost impossible to add one. I do have lots of other properties witth wooden crosswalks. Lets find you one of those next time. Thanks lauren
