The Best Spring Break and Easter ever!

Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We spent Spring Break and Easter Sunday on beautiful Tybee Island. My Twelve year old daughter and her cousin had a great time. The people at Tybee Vacation Rentals were extremely friendly and helpful. I absolutely will stay here again!!!

Very relaxing with a nice river view.

My friend and had a wonderful time at Tybee as we always do. Our condo was very clean & ready for us upon arrival after a long drive. We liked sitting on the balcony watching the dolphins play and the ships come in to port.We didn't really go out to eat that much cause we like to cook so we took advantage of the local seafood at the market. Are condo did need some updating in the kitchen we felt the stove was hard to cook on and really needs replaced & the bathroom door was missing a knob. But the staff was excellent to us. And we would have like to stay and never come home. We both would love to move to Savannah or Tybee some day soon and will be back next year. Thanks so much Tybee staff good job!

Loved the Savannah Beach and Racquet club. Condo was very clean and comfortable. Very peaceful and quiet. Loved sitting on the deck and watching the dolphins. Liked the fact that the pool closing time was strictly enforced. The only negative thing I can say about my visit was the fact that we only recieved 4 washcloths, and that was suppose to be for 4 people for the entire week.

Enjoyed location, condo could use a few upgrades.

Left on 08/08/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Nice location and area. We enjoyed walking on the beach and being away from the touristy areas of Tybee. We did go to the Lighthouse public beach area when we wanted to get in the ocean, the bay area is not for swimming. Accommodations were ok, could use a few updates in the bathroom and the kitchen, specifically the oven. We chose not to cook anything in the condo because the vent fan did not operate. Only complaint was the bed was not comfortable at all, but we know this could be true at any rental.

It’s so peaceful to enjoy the quieter North End location of the Beach & Racquet condominiums. As for the swimming, you can definitely swim right there in the bay and many folks do but the ocean is just a little further down if one prefers. We appreciate your feedback regarding the property itself and will certainly share this with the homeowners as we are always working to continually improve our guests experience.

      enjoyable!

Left on 05/27/2012 for a stay in May 2012

The condo was great, a little small for the four of us, but none the less it had everything we needed. Bedroom was a little cramped, it was like sleeping in a submarine! But overall it was what we needed, we don't usually stay in a condol, but usually in a house when we visit Tybee, so for us a condo is a little small and not very 'homely' but it had everything we needed! I would like to see a map of the amenities of the building, we did ring Tybee vacation office to see if there was a washing machine on site and were informed there was not! Low & behold we found one on site, so I think a map of amenities would be helpful. The worst thing we didn't like was the gate!! Having to use our card to get in and out each time! Finally I would really really like to see some recycling going on!!! In this day & age there is no excuse for not reclycling. Everwhere there should be somewhere to recycle your plastics & paper!! So please find a way for people to recycle and come up to date with the rest of the world!
      Tybee is the best!

Service from the rental service was awesome. Great on the phone and very helpful and friendly at check in. The condo was clean and cozy just what we were looking for to relax and we could see dolphin and shrimp boats on the river from our deck. We liked the location on the water and the quietness of being away from Savannah

The people on Tybee are kind and fun! Everyone was very warm and helpful. My husband had a massive stroke the day after we arrived. I was alone three weeks while he recovered enough to go home. The lovely islanders really made the difference.

When we first walked in we were thrilled with how cute it was. Yes some furnishings have seen better days, but it was very clean and comfortable. We had a great time. Great value for the money. The only gripe was that the exit gate doesnt open for a motorcycle! Oh and no wireless but discovered at the end of our stay that we could get it off our deck (it faced the pool and they had wireless there)

      Old but Clean

Left on 07/28/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We were disappointed to see that it was so old. However, it was clean, and that made it better! You should let people know that it is not on the ocean, but on the river! (However, the ocean is a short walk.)

      Disappointed

Left on 07/28/2011 for a stay in July 2011

The owner of this rental unit needs to do a lot of updating from furniture to decor to appliances. The unit was clean. That's about the best I can say. Prints on the wall and decor made the unit feel very "70's" The master bedroom bed was so uncomfortable and the room was so small that we actually put the mattress on top of the pullout sofa and slept there all week. When we arrived we had a toilet that wouldn't flush. I also am quite certainly that the person cleaning this knew because there was toilet tissue in the toilet when we arrived. Shower was a "bear" to turn off and on, the hairdryer provided had a horribly bent and melted plug on it...serious electrical hazard. The shower curtain in the bathroom was missing two shower rings on the end which caused water to spray into the floor when you showered. The holes in the curtain weren't torn; just missing the two rings (which would cost nothing to replace). The light in the bathroom had to "warm up" before it would shine bright enough for you to see it.

As far as Tybee Vacation Rentals, the staff was exceptionally nice throughout the entire process of booking, the week of the stay and the checkout process. I only have two negatives 1.) I accidentally threw away the 2nd key that was provided because I didn't even take it out of the packet. I had to pay $10 for a new key, which I think is a bit much to charge 5X the amount that a new key actually costs. 2:) A lot of directions were given for the checkout procedures with the consequence of an additional $30 cleaning fee if not completed. Yet, the air return vent in the hallway had so much dusked just "caked" on it that it was disguisting.

Though the staff was extremely nice, I would hesitate before renting from this company again because of the run down condition of this unit that I was told was "wonderful". We were able to go into a unit managed by another company and it was modern, updated and beautiful. Checking into that one for next time!!!

Response from Tybee Vacation Rentals - 07/28/2011

      Tybee Vacation Rentals

      Manager

The properties we managed are owned by private individuals and decorated based on the owners taste and budget. Pictures of all of our properties are provided on our web site so there are no unpleasant surprises based on décor. Although we prefer our guests never to find any problems during their stay occasionally issues do arise that we may have over looked in our inspection process. The issues you mentioned could have been quickly and easily addressed by a quick call to our office. We do provide 7 day a week/24 hour maintenance service so our guests get the services they expect from a professional property management company.

The key fee may seem exorbitant at first glance, but when you consider the time and energy involved in replacing a key it all adds up. There is first the phone call by one of our staff to you to see if you could mail the key back, then there is another employees time and gas to go to a hardware store to have a new key made, that same employee takes the key to the property to assure it works properly before handing it over to our front desk staff to tag it and store for the next guest. It’s not a difficult process, but it is time consuming and important for the next arriving guest.

Our notes on your call state that you did originally discuss one of our newly updated properties with an agent, but then your dates changed to the week of the 4th and there were limited properties available. In the future when making travel arrangements for the week of July 4th we would recommend doing so months in advance. This way you will have a much larger selection of properties to choose from as it is a very busy time for all beach rental companies. It is important to us that we set the correct expectation of the property to our guest at the time of booking. I question if the word ‘wonderful’ wasn’t originally discussed in the conversation regarding the original property and dates, as a larger selection of properties were available. The property you did eventually stay in was clean, close to the bay and offered a pool. The maintenance issues were minor and could have easily been addressed to your satisfaction if only we had known.

Like all rental companies we have some truly beautiful properties and some that are great for the budget conscience who simply want a place to lay their head at night. What really counts is the people in the company you choose to use and the how responsive they are when you let them know there is an issue. If we were given the opportunity, I feel assured you would not only consider returning to us, you would recommend us to your friends, family and anyone else that would listen! We sincerely do appreciate you taking the time to comment and we hope you will reconsider your decision.

Tybee Vacation Rentals staff was wonderful and the Savannah Beach & Racquet were just as described. We wanted to be near the beach, but not far from our friends on Wilmington Island - this was perfect. Our unit was ready ahead of schedule; a plus for us after driving nearly 11 hours! It was clean, comfortable and convenient.
