This house has amazing views it's the perfect size for multi family vacations. But the bad news is it has not been well maintained. The door handles to the front door was rusty and tricky to use. When opening the main deck door the handle often would fall off on to the ground! We went in December so we turned on the heart. The upstairs bedroom was stifling hot the first night and then freezing cold all the rest of the stay.The gas fireplaces did not work, maintenance came out and could not fix. We got one working but turned it off when it emitted a strong gas smell. The dish washer was missing a start button, sometimes you could get it to turn on sometimes not... Here's a small list of things not found in the house hair dryer, cutting board, iron (they did hv an ironing board)
The best bedroom called the King suite had a double bed! One of the king beds downstairs was really uncomfortable. I still really liked the house as the rooms were really large and had beautiful bathrooms and views. However, they should tell people that you can't swim at that part of the beach. There are signs every wheres warning of under water hazards. A ten min. walk does take you to a swimming beach. We did complained to the rental company but not only did they not offer any compensation but they didn't seem particularly interested. I would never use them again.
There is an elevator however I'm not sure a wheelchair would fit in it.
Kitchen was amazing 6 burner stove top that worked great however oven took twice as long as normal to cook a roast.Response from Oceanfront Cottage Rentals - 01/22/2013

The Stairway To Heaven rental property is a lovely home located on the bay side of Tybee Island. There are several areas that do have under water jetties which are very sharp and dangerous rocks, which help with erosion on the beach. Due to this, there are signs posted that mark where the jetties are located and to alert people of the dangers. Beach goers can walk 10 - 15 ft away from these signs and have a safe area to swim. The home is not advertised as having working fireplaces however, we do make every effort to accommodate requests to have the fireplaces turned on. As a newer built home, this property features hurricane doors through out and as such, they operate differently.
There are directions posted as to how to correctly operate these doors however, if not followed then the doors and handles may not work. -

We knew we wanted oceanfront for our annual "Aunt Weezie Getaway"! We knew we needed an elevator and a good kitchen for multiple cooks! We knew we needed comfy beds and plenty of bathrooms! We never dreamed we'd find such a lovely, clean home as "Stairway" for our group of 8 ladies! Loved having the garages to load and unload out of the elements and the elevator was the best! Tho the weather was crappy, it didn't matter! We were all cozy in front of the fire while the wind and rain howled outside! We loved watching the wild surf after the storm; there were great views from almost every room. The huge, very functional kitchen island was simply to die for and the hub of activity during prep and clean up of meals! At one time, we has 4 of us in the kitchen without running into each other! We fell in love with the upscale frig and gas range!! The great room and kitchen was the hub during our stay...playing games while watching the ships heading in and out of the harbor! Everyone appreciated their own bathrooms and comfy beds...nice linens everywhere! We loved having bedrooms on different floors! The sitting area on the mid floor, in front of another fireplace, was a quiet spot to hang with a good book. On the downside, we were disappointed that there were limited pots, pans & serving pieces in a home of this caliber. Other homes I have rented in the past were equipped with upscale cookware and dinner ware. This deficiency affected the meals we prepared till my cousin brought pots and pans with her! The Oceanfront staff was great during the booking process over the phone and the check in process was smooth. Traveler beware: I arrived very ill and asked about a doctor or an urgent care facility. The staff pointed out one across the street from the office. I suggest that they alert visitors to the fact that an office visit is $150 and they do not accept insurance!

This home was very comfortable. The views are breathe taking. Every evening we sat and watched to dolphins play. We actually stood in the water with the dolphins swimming around. Our grandaughter that was 2 1/2 at the time always asked to go back.
