We were coming to Tybee Island for a family getaway, with everyone getting their own accommodations. My priorities were 1. being on the south end, closest to the rest of my family, 2. being in a safe location, 3. paying a reasonable price and 4. having internet so we could work as necessary during the week. I must say 3 of the priorities were met. However, while the location was great, the Guest Suite 2 was bare bones and the internet was pretty much non-existent. I would only recommend this rental for someone whose only priority was having a bed close to the beach and the bar.
The internet provided is an unsecured Wifi. To those not familiar, that means that anyone anywhere can access it. No password is required either so the bandwidth available was minimal to be polite and was constantly dropping off. I ended up having to turn my cell phone into a hotspot (at my own cost) to have a connection that lasted more than a minute or two. In addition, the modem is not located within the unit, appears to be the same for all 5 of the units and is probably located in the restaurant next door. Again, connection was spotty at best and when I could get service, it was only when I was in the two rooms facing the restaurant.
While the Suite had the necessities required, the door was split and the window aC units were sufficient but not great. Tybee Vacation Rentals was fantastic and their service impeccable. As for the price, I was pleased originally until I found out my brother rented a two bedroom condo (four blocks away) that was much larger, had central air and was much better stocked for only two hundred more than I paid. We will definitely use Tybee Vacation Rentals again but will not be staying at Fannie's.Response from Tybee Vacation Rentals - 09/13/2012

For a South End location at a reasonable price, you can’t beat Fannie’s, that’s for sure. It is one of our most budget friendly properties. We are sorry you had some internet issues during your stay and that you found the A/C to be just okay. It’s great to hear that you were pleased with TVR and our service, though. And for a couple of hundred dollars more, you’re right… there are properties with more amenities and we would be happy to show you those as options for your next stay.

Fannies is in the best location on the whole island!!! The rooms was very very clean and very inviting!! It was very private and cozy!!! We will stay here again everytime we come back!!! The only complaint we had was paying for the maid service when we never seen one..I cleaned daily and took the trash out, so we didnt feel that we should have paid a fee...But other then that Fannies is Fantastic!!!

My first trip to Tybee, but hopefully will not be my last -- I wanted an old beach feel -- not too commercialized. This was the spot. Also, since my 2 dogs are my children, it was very important they were welcomed which they were. Wish I were there "right now"!!

We came down to Tybee very spur of the moment for a short family vacation while my husband was home during his mid-tour leave from afghanistan. We didn't have a lot of options for rentals because of the short notice, so I was a little nervous about this place being small for my family. (It was my husband and I, and our three children...6, 3, and 1 month old). When we arrived I was surprised at the space we had! The living room and bedroom were both nicely sized and we never really felt crammed! It was much better then staying in a hotel for sure! The apartment was very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals! My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the balcony at night and listening to the music at Fannie's, however, it was nice because when we went inside it was quiet and the crowds of people at the bar didn't bother us! We were a little nervous about not having central a/C in the apartment, but the little window units and ceiling fans kept the unit cool the entire time. The only complaint that I have is that the futon in the unit was broken. They had maintenance in the room trying to fix for several hours, but they were never able to so my older to kids had to sleep on the floor. :/ Another suggestion is to possibly install a outside foot shower by all the units so people can wash their feet off from the beach...we couldn't find one anywhere!! Overall though, we had a wonderful time and we will definitely be back again!!! Thank you!

I stayed in Fannie's #2 for a weekend in June, and loved it!! Me and my husband have come to Tybee since we honeymooned 6 yrs ago. This is the first time staing with Tybee vaction rentals and will definentaly use them again! Great service, room was what we needed, and it was steps to the ocean. Thanks! A+++

Fannies #2 was the perfect size for my husband, myself, and our two dogs. It was also the perfect location to fill your wagon with beach toys to take a short walk to the beach. After a day in the sun you could either hit the streets and find a great place to eat or grab something to go and have a peaceful night out on the porch. We cannot say enough great things about our stay with Tybee Vacation Rentals. We highly recommend this perfect vacation rental for the perfect vacation!

We stayed over Easter weekend and although the apartment was in a great location and clean, it lacked the comfort for us to be able to say it was a relaxing vacation. The "couch" was a fouton and was extremely uncomfortable. As the only place to really sit in the whole place it was difficult to relax and watch TV or read a book. Unfortunately, the bed was even worse. It made a creaking/moaning sound sound with every movement you made, whether asleep or awake. It kept us up all night for the duration of the trip and badly needs replacing. Being behind a restaurant was fairly noisy as well especially on the weekend nights when they were cleaning and banging at 3am. We aren't really picky people but wanted to rest on our vacation and get a good nights sleep, which unfortunately, we weren't really able to do. If the bed and fouton/couch were replaced we would stay here again.

We had a great stay except for ONE thing. When we booked, we were told that the "cable is out" which made us think it would be restored within 24 hours. Since the island had cable, we had no cable because the bill had not been paid. We would rather that someone had told us that and perhaps given us a discount. It would not have mattered except we had terrible weather and had not much else to do but watch TV.
Otherwise, the place was perfect rental for us. -

The rental was the perfect set up, both inside and the location to the beach. My only complaint is the smell when sitting on the deck. The garbage from the resaurant was causing the smell.

I used to live on Tybee so I know the island well. This property is in excellent location near Breakfast Club and Hunter House ( our 2 favorite places to eat ) and near Tybee pier. Didn't like walking past all the trashcans in back but #2 is the largest unit and we loved it except for porch looking into back of restaurant. Well equipped, clean, and everything worked.

This was our first stay on Tybee and I’m sure to make this an annual adventure. This quaint ‘lil condo was perfect for my girlfriend and I. It was very clean upon arrival and it had an all of the amenities needed for a beach get a way. It was only about a half of a block from the beach and perfectly located for a stumble to the closest watering hole. I would request this condo to any of my friends. Overall, I have a very positive impression of Tybee.

TYBEE Island gave us an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful beach and to travel 20 minutes into Savannah with all its history and great food! We were on a very tight budget so when I found an affordable place that was an apt and took pets, it was a win-win thing. We weren't crazy about our "view" , the back of Fanny's which honestly looked and smelled kind of nasty, and if the place had been full (we were the only people in the building) I'm not sure where we would have parked and it would have no doubt been noisy,but the apt itself couldn't have been nicer, cleaner and with all the amenities you would like to have on a beach vacation, mostly being able to walk out your door (almost) to the beach. We might hestitate to stay in this exact location again, but we would definitely book with Tybee Vacation Rentals again.
