Marietta, GaDelightful Vacation Home
Left on 11/07/2012 for a stay in October 2012
This house is clean, spacious and has good location. By the bike trail and close to the beach. The house was well furnished but a couple of things you should know before you rent. The downstairs bedroom does not have a closet or a/c or heat vent. Also no electric outlet in the downstairs bathroom. This should be no problem if kids or teenagers are staying there... but could be a problem for granny. We were lucky and it did not affect us as our adult niece and spouse were very flexible.
Nightlights might be a good addition but we came prepared so no one was stumbling around at night.
Tybee Island is a perfect place to stay yet be near Savannah but not fight the parking problems. Super resturants near-by. We really enjoyed The Breakfast Club and The Sunday Cafe. Uncle Bubba's was good too. -

Left on 10/17/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Stayed at Lily Pad during PirateFest, didn't really affect our stay as we were by the lighthouse and didn't have a need to go downtown. But, if I'm there at that time again, I certainly will. The house was clean and practical. The porch was the best place for early morning coffee and late night chats. Very special place and will stay at Lily Pad again.

Savannah, GAGreat location
Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This house is in the perfect location for Tybee! It is on the north part of the island (i.e. family friendly) and is a couple of blocks away from the lighthouse and beach. The neighborhood is quiet, North Beach Bar & Grill is right around the corner (Delish!), a great playground and there is a cute coffee shop (Jitterbug) very close. Although we live in Savannah, we will be vacationing in this house again! Did I mention it was pet-friendly? (On a side note, the house is not perfect. The couch is not comfortable, the skylights have plywood over them...that being said, this is Wayyy better than any hotel)

Left on 07/12/2012 for a stay in June 2012
The main reason that I could not give this an "excellent" rating is that I as a 70-year-old I found the house a little far from the beach for schlepping vast quantities of chairs, shade, towels, water, etc. and once I got to the public access parts of the beach, I found it to be too crowded for my tastes. That's the crabby old woman in me talking...the younger generations loved every minute of it!! We all loved Lily pad, though the street level bed room did get quite warm at times, given the level og heat we were having during our stay. That issue needs to be addressed some. time. The staff people we dealt with were terrific, coming quickly to fix wireless problems and answering questions about restaurants with good info. If we come back to Tybee, we will definitely be in touch with TVR.

Cleveland, TN / Chemnitz, GermanyQuiet and dog friendly Gateaway Rental on Tybee Island with view
Left on 06/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Rental House is conveniently located 2 blocks from the ocean with direct view to the lighthouse of Tybee Island.
Dog friendly, but due to holes in the backyard fence, we could not let our 2 dogs run. But two dogparks are located within a 2 minute walk down the street! For dog owners be aware that no dogs are allowed on Tybee Island Beaches! But otherwise very dog friendly - can even bring your four legged friend to the outside areas of restaurants!
Very quiet and clean property, which needs some maintanance work on the ceilings - had water stains in both upstairs bathrooms and in the living room. The master bathroom had received partial repairs, but looked unfinished.
This home is ideal for 4 people and dogs. The house has another bedroom on the ground floor, which is very dark and located next to the sewer fan. Therefore, the smell was sometimes unpleasant downstairs.
Overall, very nice relaxing stay at this property. -

Left on 06/06/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We arrived on a hot, busy, holiday weekend. My wife, a discerning, experienced traveler, was impressed with the seamless check-in process from the moment she entered TVR. "The Lily Pad" was immaculate and the spacious, open concept of the property enhanced our family interaction.. There was plenty of room for our group of six adults and one child. The fenced-in backyard provided our grandson and dog a place to romp in the Sun. The "Pad" also provides ample deck, porch and screened in patio space to accommodate everyone's preferences. It is located in a quiet, friendly neighborhood within walking distance to the beach. We will return.

Decatur, GASooo relaxing!
Left on 05/09/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Our three day vacation in Tybee Island was more relaxing and enjoyable than the 9 days we spent in Fort Lauderdale! The Lily Pad was everything we hoped it would be. Cute, comfortable, great location, clean, and no surprises. We were a group of 6 adults and a one year old, and we had plenty of room and privacy. The downstairs queen bedroom was plenty cool enough, even when it was high 80's outside. There is a bathroom for each bedroom, which worked out great. Plenty of towels. Five minutes to the beach. The lighthouse is so close--and so beautiful at night. We were able to go out walking in the evening (and the middle of the night when our one year old had trouble sleeping!) and the area was safe and well-lit. On our last day, the baby was napping when we were supposed to check out, and TVR was nice enough to accommodate us for the extra half hour it took to get him up and the crib packed.
The only complaint we have is with regards to the "supplies" that we have come to expect at rental homes. We rent a home like this, either at the beach or in the mountains, at least twice a year, and we have never had this problem before. There was only one coffee filter provided, one pack of laundry soap, and one pack of dishwasher soap. No salt and pepper. The kitchen utensils were minimal (and I mean minimal). There was a welcome packet with a beer koozie and some cheap coffee, and sugar/creamer packets. For the same price, they could have provided enough dishwasher soap for our three day stay, and some coffee filters, which would have been a lot more useful! I would suggest that if the rental agency and/or the owner is unable to provide enough of these kinds of supplies to last for the guests' entire stay, that they should spell that out--and list the model of coffee maker so guests know what kind of filter to bring. -

I thought the cottage was great. Two things could use improvement - you advertise a screened in area but it has several large tears in it and it is very dirty. The second thing is a good exterminator treatment would be good we had a few cockroaches, spiders, etc.

Boise, IdahoI would not call this a 3 bedroom vacation home
Left on 09/25/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Prior to our stay, we confirmed with the rental agency that the 3rd, downstairs bedroom was going to be comfortable to sleep in for our vacation. We were concerned because it doesn't have aC and we needed to have all 3 rooms to fit our family. The rental agency stated the room is very cool without the aC and that a box fan was available just in case. There was no box fan in the house and the room was so hot the first night it made it impossible to use. We called the rental company the next morning and there were no apologies and we were told if we needed a fan, we could come get one from them. Very frustrating!
In addition, the carpets in the bedrooms and stairs and the rug in the living room were very dirty - covered in dog hair. This made it very hard for us since we had small children who wanted to play on the floor.
That being said, the living space upstairs was roomy and accommodated our large family of 4 adults and 4 children nicely. Just beware, depending on the time of year you travel, do not consider the downstairs bedroom to be a viable option. -

Jonesboro, LA (recently moved to Quitman, LA)Too Many Rules and Fines/Some Things Diodn't Work
Left on 08/01/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Nice 2-story house, but: no air condition on the bottom floor; central air didn't work when we arrived; cable didn't work till the last day; bolt lock would not work on the first-floor patio; poor locks that could be opened easily (with a finger) on the first floor patio; reading the rules on the barbque pit were enough to encourage us to forego barbequeing; Enough rules to choke a horse; intimidation through possibility of fines.
For $300 a day, we could have gotten a suite in a nice hotel with daily changing of sheets and cleaning in the rooms. It's safe to say that we won't be back. [I'm sure this won't make it any review of The Lily Pad.]
Oh, and read FlipKey's terms of agreement as well. -

Left on 07/05/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The home was just what we wished for! We had a great vacation and always felt happy.
The only thing we thought that might help would be a possible stager time at check-in. We felt rushed and did not really have a chance to go through the information that was given us in front of staff. Staff was wonderful and we would like to thank you for all that you do. -

We were very pleased to find such a nice, pet-friendly property at the last minute. The location was great, and the accomodations were first rate. The only 2 things I would recommend changing would be the internet to wireless, and a window unit in the downstairs bedroom. Thanks for a great stay!

atlantaNo A/C or heat in third bedroom!
Left on 07/09/2009 for a stay in May 2009
We were very disappointed that the third bedroom in this house did not have any venting for air conditioning or heating. Even with the fairly mild weather at the time of our visit, the heat and general stuffiness of our downstairs bedroom (which really feels like a basement) was pretty awful. We were excited to discover a small oscillating fan in the room, but it turned out to be broken! We ended up sleeping with our one little window open and listening to the HVAC (just outside the window) cooling the upstairs part of the house all night!
To be fair, TVR did offer us a chance to switch to one other house, but the floor plan of that one was bad for our particular group configuration, and we weren't offered another choice.
As consolation, TVR gifted us with...a coupon for a pizza place? No reduction of fees, not even an offer of a discount for our next time! We've stayed at TVR places several times in the past, and expect much better. I was pretty surprised by how poorly this was handled.
The upstairs of the home is cute and overall lovely (though the bedspreads on the twin beds are pretty stained and scuzzy- our kids refused to sleep with them). Well equipped kitchen, nice common areas.
Just please, PLEASE, do something about that bedroom downstairs- or at least price it more accordingly! Several nights of terrible sleep in a hot, stuffy room is not our idea of a vacation!
Response from Tybee Vacation Rentals - 07/13/2009

We are very sorry that you were disappointed with this property. Lily Pad’s price is set based upon its specific amenities and is one of our most popular homes due in large part to its affordability. The bedroom downstairs does not have an AC vent, but the downstairs hallway and bathroom do. This is actually the first complaint we have had on this bedroom, most guests report that their stay is comfortable. We have edited the properties description online so all guests are made aware of this before they book the property. We apologize that the fan in the room did not work, it has been replaced along with the twin bedspreads.

We have stayed at the Lilly Pad twice.Very relaxing, and we had a great time each visit.Located in a very quite neighborhood and minutes away to the beach, lighthouse and other points of interests on the north end of the island. It was great to view the Tybee Island Lighthouse with a cup of coffee from our deck each morning.
This house was nicely furnished and more than enough room for the three of us adults. The large fenced in yard was great for our little dog.Being a pet friendly property was a major reason why we chose the Lilly Pad, and we hope to visit again real soon.

Jamestowon, NYBest Rental Ever
Left on 11/20/2008 for a stay in April 2007
We have been going to Tybee in April and October for ten years. This house is by far the best rental ever. Location is everything, and the Lily Pad is near the lighthouse on a quiet side street near the secluded north beach area of the island. This area of the coast is perfect for shelling, watching the dolphins, and observing the ocean-going frieghters entering and departing the Savannah River. Traveling with us were our adult daughter and her husband, and the private downstairs bedroom and bath were perfect for them. Upstairs is a spacious open area from which you can gain access to the bedrooms and bathes. There is an upstairs deck overlooking the lighthouse. In the basement is a screened in patio area for hot summer nights. Our dog Spanky says the best feature of Lily Pad was the fenced in back yard where she could romp around without the scrutiny of the dog enforcement folks. Plenty of off-street parking, too. A wonderful accommodation which we hope to return to very soon.

This is a very comfortable home near the lighthouse and the beach on Tybee. The decor and furnishings made the home feel like a "home away from home." It's an easy walk to the beach and on a quiet side of the island which is nice for families. We will be back to stay there again!

Left on 11/19/2008 for a stay in June 2008
We have been coming to Tybee Island for 3 yrs now and we always rent the Lily Pad. We love the house, we can walk to the beach and not worry about having to pay for parking, sit out on the porch at night and have a beautiful view of the lighthouse, and we are able to bring our dog. Its location and proximity to everything is perfect. Unfortunetly our family has grown and now the house is to small and we will have to choose a bigger one.We are going to miss the Lily Pad but would highly reccommend it to anyone.

Left on 11/18/2008 for a stay in July 2007
The house was comfortable and was nicely decorated.
I was surprised to learn upon arrival that the third bedroom and bathroom were on the lower level, and felt like they were in a basement.
There were a few issues that were addressed quickly and professionally by the rental agent TVR. The AC unit died and TVR had the plumber out within an hour, and we were nice and cool by evening.
The house is on a fairly quiet northside street, and was about a 10 minute walk to the beach (loaded with gear).

The staff was very friedly and accomadating; even more than what you'd already expect from a region known for its friendliess and hospitality. The property was excellent and we did not want for anything. I will be using this company again in the future.
