On St. Patrick's Day Weekened, our group stayed at Perkys Place and found it to be just the home we were looking for! Far enough away from the crazy of downtown but only a bus ride away if we chose to leave, and steps away from the beach, we were very happy. Such a sweet and quiet neighborhood and adorable turtle pond down the street really added to our experience. The home itself was spacious and well equped for our group of 11, with room to spare! Even the neigjbirhood police were accomadating with allowing our service dog on the beach. The only negatives we encountered were with the staff after our stay. We dealt with several unanswered phone calls and it took weeks to receive our safety deposit, and when it did make it to our home it was for the incorrect amount. We were asked to pay the credit card fee when renting this home, but Tybee a vacation Rentals just could not spring for the same extra credit charge and instead took their time in returning our deposit. We were even unhappy having to pay this security deposit, because although a few people in the group were under 25, many were over 25. Age aside, our group consisted of 8 Respected United States army Officers and yet we had to pay a huge safety deposit. We just wanted to be treated as adults but because they did not consider us "families" we were treated as children, along with a later check in than previously told. Overall, we had a great weekend but I have a bad taste in my mouth considering this rental company at the moment.

At TVR we never like bittersweet unless it refers to chocolate and we deeply regret the experience you had with your group's security deposit. With St. Patrick's being highly popular in Savannah filled with many overly exuberant, celebrating guests security deposits are a necessity in managing the conditions of our owners' properties. We in know way mean them as a reflection on any individual guest's behavior. We do invite you your to stay with us again should you stay on Tybee for next year's St. Patrick's!

This was a great place for our three families to spend New Years- House layout is ideal- Kids had the "den" as their pad. Very roomy bedrooms and love that each has it's own private bath. Would love to stay here again!

The house is great. The location is average. We found ourselves driving to the other side of the island (10 minute drive and $4.50 per day for parking) for better beach access. Having no pool access stinks more than I can explain.
Cost is 25%-30% higher than what we paid at other destinations and the experience is not worth the additional cost. The positive of Tybee is easier access to stores/shops.
Check-in and check-out were easy and we appreciated the follow-up call after check-in. -

We stayed at Perky's Place in late July 2011. There were two families in the house - four adults and five kids ranging in age from 10 to 18. We had plenty of space and the accommodations were perfect. The short walk to the beach meant we could easily walk back to the house for lunch or take it with us. Love the location and private beach access. And, with the exception of a few jellyfish stings, there were no complaints. I would suggest that the house have an additional supply of toilet paper, paper towels, and dishwashing detergent for renters. Thanks

We stayed at Perky's Place July 16-23,2011. We were on a family vacation with our 3 grown children, their spouses and grandchildren ages 5 and 3. Perky's Place is absolutely beautiful and very well appointed. Each of the four bedrooms has it's own bathroom and 3 of them are attached. Each bedroom also has it's own TV. There is a nice den/ playroom that the kids enjoyed. Toys, games and loads of books for your enjoyment were included. We go to the beach almost every year and this was absolutely the nicest and cleanest rental we've ever had. Perky's Place is beautifully decorated. The residential neighborhood was great and everyone was friendly. We went into Savannah twice and found the city charming and the drive was easy. No back ups driving from Savannah to Tybee either, which is typical in some beach areas. Now... For the cons... Perky's Place is close to neighboring properties. That in combination with "thin walls" can make it noisy at times. It is part of a duplex and I'm sure I could hear the people in the other half turnover in bed at night. It is pet friendly but the yard is very, very small and not fenced. Tybee Island does not permit dogs on the beach at any time and has a fine of about $300. If you decide to drive to see other parts of the beach, you have to pay to park everywhere. The North Beach is very undeveloped and beautiful but the water never appeared blue, I assume because of the Savannah River. While we were there, there was an abundance of jellyfish. We also saw 2 stingrays and a small hammerhead shark caught by someone fishing from shore. Water pressure in showers is not very good and water does have a slight sulfur smell. Two burners were not working properly on the stove. Property was advertised as 30 yards to beach. There were two ways to get to the beach and both were much farther than 30 yards - this is my major complaint. This is why I
marked "no" for property being as advertised. -

Perky's Place was quite nice. Seven of us stayed quite comfortably. We were a little disappointed that it was the river, and not the ocean, that was within walking distance. The numerous jellyfish in the water and on the beach were a huge negative. The restaurants were excellent, with the exception of aj's Dockside. We also enjoyed the ice cream at the Sugar Shack.

There were eleven in our group...four of which were teenagers. We had plenty of room and no one ever got bored! Lots to do on or near Tybee, from jet-skiing to shopping and hitting restaurants to just flat out enjoying the beach. This house is located on the much less busy north-end and we loved that aspect of it! Plus, it's located right near the inlet-side boardwalk from which you can see tons of turtles!! Also, if you're traveling with a pet, it's very, very close to the dog park!
A personal recommendation: plan a day to see Savannah and be sure to make a reservation at Paula Deen's restaurant (The Lady and Sons) before you go. You'll be glad you did. Btw, lunch menu prices are significantly more wallet-friendly than dinner time.
The only down-side (and it's small stuff) is that the property is located in proximity of a permanent resident and sadly we found him to be on the cranky side. He called the property office twice on the same day to complain that our towels were drying over the balcony railing. Seemed like pretty nit-picky stuff to us, but nothing to negatively affect the trip. Just a word to the wise, dry your towels out of sight...or just shake the sand out and then use the dryer. -

My family recently spent a week at Perky's Place. My parents, sister, her husband and their 18 and 20 yr old children, my brother his wife and their 7 and 12 yr old, and my husband and I. We would not have changed anything, except maybe move the home a little closer to the beach! The house was more then we could have ever expected. It was exactly as the pictures showed it to be. We had an awsome time and are hoping to plan our next trip there soon! We can't wait to go back! For a large group this house is perfect!

Loved the house. Very clean and comfortable for about eight people. The pull out sofa and the futon were not practical for adults. They would probably have been fine for children. However, we had all "older" folks and those who were assigned those sleeping arrangements were not very comfortable. Other than that, it was a great place to stay. We chose it because of the number of bathrooms. I would definately stay again and would also recommend it to family and friends. Thanks for everything. Connie

A group of my friends and I rented Perky's Place for a weekend in June. It was conveniently located right across the street from the beach. the inside was perfect. Plenty of room to sleep and hang out. Highly recommended!

Great vacation home! Perfect location! Perfect beach
We rented Perky's Place from Dick and Perky last year (April 17-22) and we had such a great time. The home is roomy with plenty of space to share with children. My three children especially liked the bonus room with all the games, it was a private get away for the them. What we like is it felt like a home but durable enough so that having children around was not a worry. Also, the beach at this end of the island was never crowed and we loved all the turtles. We are planning on returning next year.
