Description from the manager

Originally the cottage was built as a garage, it was also thought to have been used as servant’s quarters for a neighboring home and was left vacant and neglected for many years, most recently being used as a storage building; it was completely renovated and decorated with the help of local designer Jane Coslick and most recently updated in 2012. This little adorable 1950's honeymoon cottage offers eclectic furnishings, antiques, tile floors, and an I-pod docking station, and is so quiet and comfortable you may not want to leave! Located mid-island near the marsh; 3 blocks away from the back river beach where you can watch sunsets, go f...Read more

      I love Tybee

Left on 06/05/2013 for a stay in May 2013

I love the location of the sea biscuit cottage. For the most part is was peaceful, until evening. The neighbor across the street has birds, quail, i believe. It was unbelievable the racket they make. We had to close the doors and turn on the air conditioner to block out the noise. But, the new furnishings in the living room are great. A new shower curtain is desperately needed in the bathroom!

      Perfect island getaway cottage

Left on 05/21/2013 for a stay in May 2013

We could not be happier with our experience at The Sea Biscuit. It was everything I was hoping for and more. The cottage is set back on a very treed lot, making you feel secluded, even though you there are houses on both sides of you. The screened porch is adorable and the a amentities were great. The gas grill was brand new and the landscaping was very well maintained. Definitely bring your bikes, as it is centrally located and you can get anywhere you want within 5 minutes. Great stay; can't wait to go back!

Curl up on the two-person couch and enjoy the coziest of Tybee I

Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in January 2013

Set amongst the stately trees, this little cottage is just the perfect getaway for two. Nicely appointed, with full kitchen and outside grill, it is convenient to the main drag and the beach. Quiet time of the year (except for New Year's fireworks at midnight 12/31), cool weather and plenty to see and do (Savannah just 20 minutes away, Fort Pulaski, Fort Screven, the lighthouse, the beaches and waterways). Wish there were more time to stay.

Great cottage, but its mustiness can trigger allergies

Left on 10/16/2012 for a stay in October 2012

This is a delightful cottage on a quiet street set back on the lot. Its kitchen is well supplied though completely lacking in any basic condiments such as salt and pepper.

The cottage used to have a dehumidifier which for some reason has been removed. While there is no visible mold or mildew, the cottage reeks of it somewhere and it's strong enough to trigger allergies in sensitive people like myself.

The mold might be in the window air conditioner. Wherever it is, a dehumidifier should help.

It would be a big help if there were some way to get the conditioned air into the bedroom. A fan could help.

Perfectly quiet, cozy, and relaxing time at the Sea Biscuit Cott

Left on 10/10/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We greatly enjoyed our time at the Sea Biscuit Cottage! We were looking for a small, quiet spot near the beach, where we could be undisturbed for our week-long vacation. We really couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay.

The Sea Biscuit Cottage was the perfect size for just the two of us, and contained all the supplies we needed for our stay. We enjoyed the screened-in porch many mornings, while drinking our coffee, and also found the grill extremely handy. It was quiet around our cottage, but there were many destinations within walking distance, which we took advantage of.

The staff of Tybee Vacation Rentals was extremely accessible to us the entire time, but they were also very sensitive to our privacy, which we greatly appreciated.

It was such a wonderful trip, with great memories, thanks in part to the ease of working with Tybee Vacation Rentals. We will be back!

      Quaint but Musty.

Left on 10/03/2012 for a stay in September 2012

The property was as cute as it is pictured, but a couple of things could improve it. The window unit air conditioner had a very musty smell as did the kitchen sink and bathroom. It also was not very efficient at cooling. There is no washer or dryer and no maid service offered. So we paid for extra linens as we stayed an entire week and only one linen package was provided. We would have been glad to pay for a maid service midway though our stay to freshen the place up. We had a few palmetto bugs, only once inside. but the screened porch was a common site for them. while it was a good value, I probably would not book this property again. The interior, while cute decorated, seemed tired from use, such as mattresses and upholstered pieces. It is also a pretty lengthy walk to the beach, and we found it better to drive and pay for parking than walk each way with chairs, beach bags/towels etc in tow.

We can't say enough wonderful things about Sea Biscuit Cottage and Tybee Island! This quaint, charming cottage had everything we needed and them some. A very short walk from the beach, Sea Biscuit Cottage reminded us that it's all about quality, not quantity. The eclectic, yet classic decor makes you feel like you're in an actual home, welcoming you from the moment you walk in the door. We will certainly be back!

This is a great spot for couples. We loved making breakfast here and eating it on the porch listening to the birds sing. It was very peaceful. You are so close to everything but yet feel so far away tucked back into the trees. It was just what we needed.

Special shout out to the manager (Amy I believe is her name) who came to our rescue the first night of our stay when we locked ourselves out! She came to our rescue within 20 minutes after our call! Thank you sooo much!

Just a note: Maybe you could put a power cord for the appliances so that we wouldn't have to move things around to turn them on at awkward angles.

      Cute except for the cockroaches

Left on 06/03/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We were supposed to stay 4 nights. 1st night my fiance killed 3 huge flying cockroaches. The next day we called Tybee Vacation Rentals and they told us cockroaches were "to be expected" since the cottage is close to the marsh and located in a forested area. I had to call three times to make sure a fumigation was going to take place before our return. 2nd night we sprayed with Raid ourselves and we must have stirred them up...about 25 baby cockroaches crawled out from under the bed and up the head board. Then one huge cockroach flew out of the corner in the kitchen to be killed in our sink. Another died on the floor. It was all too much. We have pictures but since Tybee Vacation Rentals refunded all our money we can spare you...

Cute cottage but too many bugs

Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012

The cottage is a very small place in a good location, both of which we expected. Unfortunately, the number of bugs was beyond our expectations. Better cleaning and bug treatment are needed, especially at a rate (including taxes and a cleaning fee) exceeding $200 per night. Also, spend a few dollars and get a new air condoning unit.

The Seabiscuit cottage was a quaint and relaxing. I loved the shabby chic decorating. It was so nice to be able to go back to the cottage every day to just relax. We took daily runs around the island and then went down to the beach to listen to the ocean. The sunsets on the back bay were gorgeous.

On Tybee I thought the accomidations would not mean much. I thought the best attractions would be out of the house. We changed plans once settled into this adorable cottage. We walked to the market and used the fully stocked kitchen to prepare our meals. We were able to bask in areas of sun and shade within the yard. We ended up not getting out as much as planned because our Tybee cottage was paradise.

Small but has everything you need

Left on 04/09/2012 for a stay in April 2012

The Sea Biscuit Cottage was nicely furnished, the bed was comfortable and in a very convenient location within walking distance of a few restaruants, the river and about 10 minutes to the beach. But there is absolutely no privacy here, so you should share this cottage with a really good friend, spouse or partner. The door to the bathroom is just a bi-fold door, so it blocks out no sounds and the small bedroom, though large enough for a bed only, has no door, so no privacy there either. Although, it was nicely furnished and decorated, the lighting in the main room was inadequate for reading.

The weather was kind of cold the second and third days there, so we turned off the air conditioning. When the air was off, the cottage smelled really musty.

I loved the cute screened porch, but the gnats out there prevented us for enjoying that. It would have been nice it the owner had furnished some kind of bug spray, so if you stay there, make sure you take some. In fact, take everything you need, since this place didn't even have salt and pepper.

      Fun, Adorable Cottage

Left on 03/07/2012 for a stay in February 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed at Sea Biscuit for a romantic weekend get-away. We just fell in love with this little cottage. It's unbelievable the way the space is used (about 400 sq.ft). The location is great; very peaceful and quiet and within walking distance to some great restaurants - especially a.J.s Dockside (loved, loved, loved the shrimp and grits!!) We loved every minute of our stay at sweet little Sea Biscuit and I was almost in tears when it came time to leave. Even if it rains you will love being in the cottage; you can hear the rain on the roof and the wind through the palms and it's like being in your own little tropical rain forest! This is our second experience with Tybee Vacation Rentals and they are absolutely top-notch. We had a plumbing issue on a Saturday morning and it was promptly fixed. There have been wonderful welcome bags with gifts each time we arrived at a TVR property. My family and I just returned from a family weekend at Pawley's Island and the rental agency we used there could learn a lesson or two from Tybee Vacation Rentals..I can't imagine renting from anyone else on Tybee. We can't wait until the next time!

Left on 10/31/2011 for a stay in October 2011

The cottage is too cute! It's just right for 2 people and the decorating scheme is very quaint. 5 minute walk to the beach, 15 minute drive to Savannah, lovely homes around you, a great restaurant (A.J.'s) a 5 minute walk away, who could ask for more?

The only thing I would change is the futon - a bit uncomfortable, a small loveseat would be a better fit.

Great cozy retreat tucked away from busier areas of Tybee Island, but still within walking distance of the action. Loved the screened-in porch to relax with a beverage. Only negative is that the yard doesn't have much grass, so with our 20 month old along, she really couldn't run around outside. Would love to go back soon!

The cottage is small, which we knew, but the furnishing do not live up to the price. The futon is uncomfortable and the bed is hard and leans to the center. The sheets were horrible. The worst part was Saturday after dinner we came in to find a roach in the kitchen area. The 6 blocks to the beach are easy to walk. The front screen porch is nice, as well.

Nice and welcoming service at the check in desk which was followed by a great wk end staying the sea biscuit. Perfect cosy cottage for a couple. Air conditioned and well catered for cooking meals indoors or out as their is a bbq outside fully equipped. A spot for your car is allocated right outside the cottage to so parking is no hassle. Only slight problem is the $65 cleaning bill that's added to your bill when you have to take out all the trash and clean everything but the bed and linen yourself. I think that should be scrapped otherwise everything was perfect no complaints at all. Had a great stay

      Charming, whimsical, relaxing, convenient

Left on 07/20/2011 for a stay in July 2011

I fell in love with Tybee at Seabiscuit cottage! So convenient to the strand and restaurants, esp. by bike, the only way to travel on Tybee! Quiet, clean, adorable, and TVR was so friendly and easy to work with. How I wish I lived closer so I could visit often! We will be back to Tybee someday! I visited with my mom, and the cottage is perfect for two. I hope to come with my kids some day, so we will have to stay elsewhere, but we will definitely use TVR. Tybee is casual but not gritty, upscale but not pretentious. It's perfect. The four star review on comfort relates to the air conditioning unit. If you stay hot, it would not cool enough for you. But we were there in July, so in cooler months this is likely not an issue. I would stay here again for sure! Bring your bug spray! Biking helps tremendously with the gnats; we did not notice them at all on our bikes. Enjoy!

      Our new Vacation destination!

Left on 06/22/2011 for a stay in June 2011

My husband and I absolutely loved the Sea Bisquit Cottage. It was just big enough for the two of us to relax and enjoy our 6 night stay on Tybee Island. We had everything we needed to live comfortably and feel right at home. The location of the Cottage is ideal for walking to the beach at night or eating dinner after a long day in the sun. We enjoyed working out at the local Ymca and spent one night walking across the enitre island itself. We loved being able to walk to our destinations instead of having to drive and pay to park. The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful and sitting out on the screened in porch in the early mornings was a delight. Almost everyday we traveled into Savannah and fell in love with the rich historical aspect of the city along with the friendly people and lovely atmosphere. The local restaurants were fantastic and we tried something new everyday. Our favorite dining experience was aj's on Tybee Island. We loved the short walk to the restaurant and the food was excellent. We waited a little longer just to have a seat out on the deck to watch the sunset on the water. All in all we made some memories that will last us a lifetime. We hope to come back to the Sea Bisquit Cottage soon and look forward to the gracious hospitality we were shown. Thank you so much Tybee Vacation Rentals for a lovely vacation!

      A Charming Bohemian Getaway

Left on 05/24/2011 for a stay in April 2011

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Seabiscuit Cottage for a week and loved it. It's the perfect place for a couple's little bohemian getaway. Set way back from the road, everything we needed was there, including all the electronics and kitchen stuff one would need. It has a few quirks, like how everything has to be a little bit smaller to fit in a space this size, but nothing subtracted from the charm of the cottage.

I think our favorite part was the screened-in porch where we were able to relax for long periods of time and watch the surprising variety of birds, as well as some squirrels, play in the yard.

My opinion is that the Seabiscuit is for couples, or even an individual, with a bohemian sort of mindset. Basically, it's more charming than fancy. Anyway, totally recommended.

The Sea Biscuit Cottage was adorable. Check in was very easy. The location was great - we were able to walk to the business areas and local restaurants. The cottage was charming, cute, small but practical, and everything was in order. There are space heaters in the winter and a window air conditioning unit for the summer. There was plenty to do and we did the following even in December - lighthouse tour, rented bikes, rented kayaks, hiked along the beach, restaurants, bars, casino boat, and nearby Savannah.

We have never stayed in Tybee before, but needed to find a place to stay so we could attend a friend's wedding. We found "Sea Biscuit Cottage" on VRBO and decided to book it. We weren't really sure what to expect, but were thrilled to find the Vacation Rental office clean, easy to get to, organized, and very friendly!

We LOVED our little cottage. It was absolutely perfect for the two of us. We had everything we needed and were very comfortable. The welcome bag that was left for us was such a sweet extra touch! And I couldn't help but notice how truly clean everything was. Not just tidy, but very well kept.

We were close enough to everything and felt very safe in the location. I love how the cottage is tucked back just far enough that you almost miss it if you blink as you're driving by.

Especially, I like that I felt as though I were really being treated to a vacation. I didn't get the impression that I am just another tourist, but another owner (at least in my heart) of that little home. Tybee Vacation Rentals could not have done a more superb job in making our stay more enjoyable. I have absolutely nothing bad to say. :)

      Cozy Getaway

Left on 09/14/2009 for a stay in August 2009

We rented this cozy cottage for a weekend getaway
and used it as a base to see Savannah, bike around
Tybee, etc. It is small, but the decor is cute, the
location is good and it was a perfect size for just
the two of us. We didn't use the outdoor cooking
facilities, but it would be a great place to cook
      out (but beware the mosquitoes!).

The staff were very helpful, especially as we
booked this very last-minute, and even being right
in the middle of a movie set (Tybee is the location
of some Miley Cyrus movie, apparently) was actually
      kind-of fun.

If you're looking for something expansive or beach-
side, this isn't for you, but if a quiet, cozy
getaway that's still close to amenities is what
you're after, I would recommend this cottage.

Peace & "Quiet" Among the Cicadas & Mosquitos

Left on 09/02/2009 for a stay in August 2009

One of the best decisions I've made when looking for a place to stay out of the beaten path was going to Tybee Vacation Rentals (TVR). I was treated courteously, given lots of information, and help in finding accommodations that were within our budget. My husband & I had already spent several days in downtown Atlanta in a hotel and just wanted a place to rest & recuperate. Sea Biscuit Cottage was perfect - had all the amenities, located in a quiet neighborhood, was within walking distance of the beach and the shops & restaurants, and had its own unique charm. I had forgotten how loud cicadas can be but we soon got used to them and actually enjoyed their "music." It would have helped us to be reminded of the mosquitos so that we could have come prepared (they seem to be especially attracted to me) but a quick trip to the IGA for repellent helped. Overall, the service from TVR staff was excellent with good follow-up on email reminding us about check-in times & procedures; very friendly and accommodating as well as very clear instructions about what was expected from us. We will definitely contact TVR again when planning another visit.

My Mom and I came to Tybee for a long weekend. We picked the Sea Biscuit based on recommendation. We absolutely loved it. The cottage is perfect for two., my Mom enjoyed getting up early and sitting on the porch. I just liked the comfort of it all. I would suggest for a romantic getaway or a casual stay. LOVED it.

The Seabiscuit was as cute and cozy as could be.There was much attention to detail both in decorating and practicality. I especially loved the screened porch in the mornings and enjoyed watching the birds and squirrel while drinking my coffee. The cottage was comfortable and adorably cute and the location was convenient. Also, the staff at TVR was helpful and courteous. I want to go back soon!

      Great Little Place For TWO!

Left on 06/30/2009 for a stay in August 2008

We enjoyed the experience of staying in this Little refinished Garage. In fact so much that we have booked another place just like it on the other end of the island. We have been vacationing to Tybee for over 7 years. This by far was our Favorite stay! We were close enough to the Beach to pack a cooler and the wagon provided and walk. Plus the grocery store was also within an easy walking distance. I have to admit I will probably miss the location and convinience this year. I don't know if any trip could have been so laid back and relaxing!!

the cottage was cute as all get out the island was great very nice people all over that said the down side
The cottage was dank and musty ansd when you ran the dehumidifier it dumped heat into the room instead of being vented outside and the ac unit was older and pretty noisy when it ran those were the only complaints tho. Inside and out the cottage was cute and well set up the screened porch was very nice.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay at the Sea Biscuit. The cottage is an older one set back on the property under trees. It can feel a bit musty at check in. We have forwarded your response to the owner. We appreciate the feed back and hope you will stay with us again.

      Perfect Setting for 2!

Left on 05/22/2009 for a stay in April 2009

We just spent a wonderful week at the Seabiscuit and had a fabulous time. This is
the first time that we stayed in a cottage instead of a hotel -- and it was perfect. We loved leaving our car in the driveway and riding bicycles all over the island! The pictues didn't even do it justice. When we pulled up in the driveway and stepped out of the car for the first time we instantly felt relaxed! We'd definitely recommend this perfect little cottage. I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE the paper lanterns on the screened in porch! All of the little details of the decor were so interesting. I could go on and on! It is just absolutely PERFECT for two people! We also loved reading the guest book that was in the living room with all of the people who had stayed there in the past's experiences and resturant reccomendations! I cannot wait to come back to Tybee!

We loved the Seabiscut. It was clean, warm, and inviting. I don't think it could have been any nicer!

We had a wonderful vacation and plan on returning the first chance we get!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the SEA BISCUIT cottage, all though, we did have an issue the 3rd night we stayed. We were invaded by large bugs, that even invaded our bed. This was a frightening experience.

I would stay there again, only after fumigation.

We had been talking about Tybee for several years, and this was our year. We loved it! The Cottage was cozy, quaint and very nice. The decor was beautiful and it made you feel so at home. The Cottage was in a perfect location, good for walks to the beach and the back water, walking into town or just strolling the island. It was as "cute as a button!" I recommend a visit and a stay to Tybee Island, and I do recommend the Seabiscuit for your stay, especially if you are looking to have the perfect, romantic vacation! We ran out of time before running out of things to do!

      The Perfect Little Cottage

Left on 11/18/2008 for a stay in November 2007

My husband and I were looking for a place to spend 3 to 4 days for our 10th wedding anniversary that was within a couple of hours drive from where we live. We found it at the Sea Biscuit Cottage in Tybee Island, GA. It was just as cute on the inside as on the outside and the most perfect place we could have asked for: quiet, within a few blocks of the ocean, and with all the amenities we could have asked for. When we arrived there was a bottle of champagne along with a card wishing us a happy anniversary. That was such a nice touch. When we have the opportunity we will definitely stay there again.

      Cute Cottage...But.....

Left on 11/18/2008 for a stay in April 2008

My husband and I have stayed on Tybee several times before, but always on the beach side of the island. So, we decided to give the other side a chance. When we saw this cottage on line we fell in love with it. Both the cottage and the yard sold it for us. The cottage was perfect but the yard was a big disappointment. It didn't measure up to what we saw in the pictures. The furniture was rusty and the adirondack chairs were broken. The umbrella was also non-functioning. They also promised a wagon and beach chairs. Wagon rusty, beach chairs, not so much. Maybe they have replaced them sense our visit. I would ask first if this one of the reasons why you would chose this site. Also the gas tank to the grill was empty. We had to fill it before we could use it. All though they did reimburse us by check. Any way the cottage itself was fabulous!!!

I stayed at the Sea Biscuit Cottage. I brought tons of stuff with me but when I got there found everything I needed and didn't even have to unpack some things from the car. It was my first vacation by myself. I would highly recomend the cottage to a couple. It was very romantic and cozy and very private and in a quiet neigborhood. I would definitely stay there again but I will bring someone with me next time.

      Our cottage getaway

Left on 11/18/2008 for a stay in March 2006

My husband and I really enjoyed the privacy of this place, and the warmth of the cottage. The screened porch was great, it was cool out when we went but we enjoyed sitting there with a glass of wine, and it's only a few seconds from the beach, just a drive across the street basically. It was just what we needed and we'd certainly stay there again.

      Great Weekend

Left on 11/18/2008 for a stay in August 2008

We found this place after searching other options for a weekend rental on Tybee. The Price was right and although it was a little bit small, we didnt come to the beach to sit in the house all day. Its perfect for a couple going on the cheap. The only complaint would be to have a more comfortable couch. The location was great, just a short drive or stroll to the beach. It is in a quiet area and was very private considering that there are houses on either side.

We'll be staying here again when we come back!
