FloridaGreat house for reunions: Perfect for Pool & BBQ by the beach...
Left on 11/16/2012 for a stay in September 2012
My husband was turning 30 and we wanted to rent an affordable beach house that wasn't too crazy (ie. Daytona style) since we're not 21 any more. :) 10 of us stayed comfortably at the Tybee Tonic (with room to spare). It was perfect for what we needed it for, relaxing with friends and Bbqing by the pool.
Tybee was a quaint and quiet little town so it was nice not to deal with lots of tourists and such. The beach was a couple blocks away but we primarily just enjoyed each others company in the house. The photo made it seem like the dock was in the back yard, but it was a house over. And the marsh is so mosquito-ridden that I can't imagine us using it.
Main perks: it was pretty clean, had outdoor showers by the pool, had 3 bathrooms, had a washer and dryer, and a huge kitchen table for us to gather around.
The 3 complaints I have were:
1) the tvs were small (we were trying to watch the Gator game and one was awkwardly situated in the corner of the living room, the other was a small tube tv.. also it was fuzzy reception?),
2) the pool lights were hard to find and there were no directions of how to turn those on (only indoor stuff), and
3) there was a hefty cleaning fee tacked onto our bill yet they still made us strip down the beds and move all the towels and linens to the laundry room and make sure the dishes were in the dishwasher (which I only thought was ridiculous since there was a maid service fee and I had to go back to the house since my guests left all the linens on their beds). And considering they had that service, our kitchen stuff should have been clean when we arrived. -
Love the beach!
RaleighWonderful location; I never wanted to leave.
Left on 08/08/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Tybee Tonic was 6 blocks to the beach, on a private road--across the street from the marsh, and down the road from the best restaurant on the island, A.J.'s. We traveled with a large group; 6 adults and 6 kids. It was nearly impossible to get the kids out of the pool. Pool is smaller than the pictures, but served the purpose of entertaining the children. I liked all of the places around the house to get away. There were two living rooms on the main level and a screened-in porch. Also, there was a screened in porch adjoining the master bedroom--porch furniture needs replacing. The large bugs did get in the house pretty regularly by day 3--I am not afraid of bugs; but it got really old. I used to live at the beach and this is really normal. I called the realty and they came and sprayed--the bugs did not come back for the remainder of our stay. The walk to the beach is not bad, I liked the safety and privacy that the house offered. The kids could ride bikes and scooters in the street right outside the house. I was not impressed by the dining at Tybee Island. Eat in and enjoy Tybee Tonic! One more thing, the bed in the guest room with the adjoining bathroom has a great bed. It was the first time I've traveled where I did not wake up feeling achy and sore.

The house is nicely decorated, with plenty of room for a group. The great room with kitchen & fireplace was perfect. We enjoyed cooking together & gathering at the huge farmhouse table. We had a group of 9 adults & were never crowded. The location was convenient. The only recommendation I would make to the property managers is to tell the cleaning crew to wipe baseboards & dust more thoroughly. Also, the silverware in the drawers was not clean. This was the 3rd time we have rented through Tybee Vacation Rentals & the first time the house wasn't immaculate. The house itself, however, was very nice. We would rent it again.

Dayton, OHAwesome house for blended family with kids!
Left on 10/14/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We really loved our stay in Tybee Tonic. The bugs were acceptable, especially since you warned us in advance in the contract. My only suggestion is that you clean the pool for those who stay more than a few days. By the end of our week there the pool was pretty nasty. We used it alot and it was so handy. If we came to Tybee again, I would definitely use your services and rent Tybee Tonic. Thanks for a very enjoyable family vacation! We made a lot of great memories there.

Memphis TNFamily Vacation after 11 years!
Left on 08/16/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We loved Tybee Tonic! This was our extended family's first beach vacation in more than 11 years. The kitchen was amazing to cook in...had everything 2 cooks needed. The eating area was incredible for our troops. The kids- ages 3-19 loved to come back to the pool after a day at the beach- they would swim while we would cook. The younger kids loved the outdoor showers. The grill was wonderful- screened porch amazing! Sunsets on the dock beyond incredible. No one wanted to leave. I would say the only drawback to Tybee Tonic is the bathrooms- there is plenty of living space in the house, the laundry area was great for our crew but the bathrooms were small and lacking a bit for the rest of the house. We had the most wonderful stay at Tybee Tonic- many wonderful memories made- and isn't that what vacation, especially with family, is all about!?!

Tybee Tonic is a beautiful house. It took me back in time when life was slower and much less stressful. We enjoyed our stay so much. We loved the pool and large kitchen. We cooked a low country boil and had plenty of room for our large family to enjoy a great home cooked meal. Had a lot of fun riding bikes and exploring the island. Cannot wait to go back.

Taylorsaville, North CarolinaA most laidback experience unlike we have ever had
Left on 07/18/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Really the one thing that made the stay at Tybee most memorable for us was the room we had at the house. The pool in the backyard. Tv's in every room. The "great Room" kitchen/dining room/living room in one. The seclusion of the property. The biggest drawback had to be the bugs!!! Woke up with them, went to sleep with them. I'm sure that may be a norm for the area but it isn't for us. The beach area was great. Not use to all the drinking on the beach that went on but I guess they hide it better at Myrtle. Not sure if will come back or not. Paying over 600 dollars in taxes just for the room was a complete sticker shock. Again maybe the hide it better in Myrtle. Going back and forth to Savannah was a experience. Never went to Savannah the same way or returned. Completely enjoyed Savannah. Looked for coupons in Savannah for the differant things to do. Like buggy rides and tours starting in Tybee and going to Savannah. All in all we really had a good time. Thanks again.

I loved this house and the location on the marsh. The set up was beautiful, and everything was very clean. The large bedroom with the upstairs patio was perfect!! The kitchen was amazing and I love the decor. We had a fantastic week in Tybee, and staying at Tybee Tonic.
We will for sure be renting Tybee Tonic again in the future. -

Sykesville, MDComfortable and conveniently located
Left on 10/15/2009 for a stay in October 2009
Service: excellent. effortless. Upon arrival, we found the lower house A/C to be out of order, but a quick call to TVR the next morning and it was fixed a few hours later, much to our satisfaction.
Likability: high. The house was cozy and interestingly decorated. The floor plan was really well thought out.
Amenities: As kayakers, we found the outdoor showers to be very helpful in caring for our gear and keeping the home clean and free of sand. The dock was very nice at high water, but not useful at low tide (but you already know this). The pool was a bit chilly (it was October), but it felt good in the 90 degree heat (I think it was a record temp).
Location: Perfect. It was well away from the main roads to be quiet and private. It was near to the dock for a few sunsets; close enough to the beach for a short walk to a morning sunrise.
Tybee Island really is a great get-away.
Liked best: The great room.
Liked least: Insects in the pool and entrances to the house (cockroaches...but understandable: GA).
p.s. A squirrel was nesting in the upper screened porch (there was a juvenile squirrel present), chewed a hole in the trim facing the street, and may have at least two entrance holes. This should probably be checked.
p.p.s. We would like to be entered into any contest that awards a free return visit!!! Heck, we would most likely be a return visitor anyway!

Staying on Tybee Island at Tybee Tonic was a great way to end the summer. The island offers many great pastimes and amenities. The house was beautiful and very well appointed. The group of 8 had a great time and plans to return in the near future. It is definitely a recommended trip to anyone who likes sun, warm water and fun!

Kissimmee, FLGreat Weekend Getaway
Left on 05/27/2009 for a stay in May 2009
Tybee Tonic was the perfect tonic for our getaway needs! The house is situated within walking distance of the beach and the downtown nightlife, yet far enough away for us to enjoy the quiet of the neighborhood. Also, the sunsets on the back river amongst the docks were spectacular! The house itself suited our needs for 10 adults and 2 kids. Plenty of room to move around, private sleeping quarters and yet, a big dining area for all to be in together at the same time. The private fenced in pool was a delight and the outdoor shower stalls a fun find!
Our 3 days holiday weekend ended too soon as we really enjoyed this house and Tybee itself. -

Left on 12/29/2008 for a stay in June 2008
We had all 12 members of our family together for a whole week and it was the best time ever! The house is lovely and well located. We were dismayed to have to vacuum up pet hair when we first arrived, since it is listed as "no pets", but, as we were told, the owners had visited shortly before we did and brought their pets along. We loved the pool and the dock area. And with the grill located nearby, we cooked most of our meals and enjoyed a swim. I hope we can take the family back to Tybee in June 09. We will definitely check the availability of Tybee Tonic if we do.
