Murni's Houses are built in a traditional Balinese walled compound. Step through the gate and you enter a world of tranquility, filled with Balinese art, that's just a few minutes' walk from the main street of Ubud. We have 6 different lodgings.
Sawo Apartment 1 is on the ground floor of a new two-storey building - 2 bedrooms with a double bed with 2 mattresses which can be pushed apart on request, en suite bathroom and verandah; and a living room with a Chinese Wedding Bed, a small kitchen and another small bathroom. Private entrance, porch and back door leading to the garden. Option of air conditioning in the bedrooms or open windows.... Fans throughout. Sleeps up to 5 people.
Up to 5 Murni's Big Breakfasts per day included.
US$150 per night, plus 10% government tax and 5% service charge.
For those times you don't want to go to town, you can have your meals on the large veranda, or in the Apartment.
Wander round the garden and enjoy Murni's collection of stonecarvings by Wayan Cemul, one of Bali's most famous sculptors and living treasures. Born in 1927, he is Murni's father's cousin. Cemul produces non-conventional statues that are quintessentially Balinese in character and full of comic playfulness.
Murni's Houses have 220/50HZ electricity, hot running water, flow-through ventilation and are fully mosquito-screened. Included are fans, blankets and a mini-bar. There is day and evening room service from our internationally famous restaurant, Murni’s Warung, just three minutes away.

Just give us a bit of notice.
Note that there is no pool - yet. If you want a lovely pool, have a look at Murni's Villas. You can also use the pools at nearby hotels for a small fee.

The apartments are newly built with excellent amenities, including air conditioning. Staff extremely helpful and work hard to meet every request. Breakfasts are wonderful, and range from bacon and eggs to Bali specialties, your choice. Owners are gracious hosts and the lobby/pavilion is a welcoming place for all guests. Access to area attractions and activities easily arranged by staff. Loved it, stayed 10 days.
More traditional rooms and houses are wonderful too; did not miss air conditioning at all, because generous distribution of ceiling fans kept the house very cool and liveable. Read more
I'm, delighted that you loved your 10 day stay with us and that the breakfasts were wonderful. I hope that you can come back. Murni

An Oasis in Central Ubud

This was our first stay at Murni's Houses, as we usually stay at elsewhere in Ubud. We are frequent visitors, typically spending a month there each year. Our usual hotel is closed for renovations this year, and I selected Murni's Houses after looking at Trip advisor reviews for Ubud accommodation. Murni's reviews are outstanding. We stayed in one of the apartments. There is a choice of different styles of accommodation available - all well priced. The accommodation is very modern, clean, roomy and filled with books, art and small comforts. We were both surprised and pleased with all we experienced. The staff are lovely, the grounds just ooze the best of Bali, and the food and service equaled the best we have experienced in my 20 years or more visiting Bali. We loved it there, and I have already booked next year. This review is simply too short to do justice to the experience there. Fantastic food delivered from Murni's Warung, being close to everything in down town Ubud, a short stroll to Casa Luna, the fireworks on New Year's Eve, the ceremonies happening right on our doorstep, good internet wifi, and so it goes. Murni's is just great value, and enhanced our enjoyment of Ubud. See you next year Jonathan & Murni! Read more

My wife and adult daughter stayed in the Sawo apartment at Murnis. The beautifully furnished, spacious apartment gave us plenty of space for three adults. The professional, gracious staff made us feel welcomed from the moment we checked in. Each morning, we started our day with a scrumptious breakfast. Having the incredible Tamarind Spa steps away from our front door was an unexpected bonus to our week there. Read more
I'm really delighted that you enjoyed your week with us so much in the new Sawo Apatment - and of course that you liked the Tamarind Spa too. I hope that you can all come back soon. Murni

This is our third trip to Bali. In the previous one, whenever we crossed the Campuan bridge into Ubud, we noticed a very tasteful restaurant, Murni's Warung, attached to a store that sold high-quality Balinese handcrafts. When in preparation for our third trip we found out the Murni also offered lodging, we jumped at the opportunity. I'm happy we did because everything has exceeded our expectations. Murni's Houses is a compound located very close to the very heart of Ubud, yet up a hill on a very quiet street, easily accessible if you rent a scooter or a car (never rent a car in Ubud, the streets are impossibly narrow). The compound has many different houses, and we stayed in #1. It has two big bedrooms, each with private bathroom in suite and private terraces. It also has a living room comfortably furnished and with windows that overlook a beautiful garden with Buddhist sculptures. Inside the apartment, there are wood carvings, friezes, and stone bass reliefs, all artistically lighted to enhance their beauty. Outside the house and across the garden, there is an open terrace where asian and Western breakfast and meals are served by a gracious staff. And to top it all, there is a wonderful, fully-staffed spa, right there, in the compound itself. I have to highlight that the staff are so attentive you want to take them home with you. One day, there was heavy rain in the morning. When we opened our door to walk a few steps to the breakfast area, we found that they had left open umbrellas at our door. Such a classy touch. We highly recommend this place. Read more
Thank you for staying in our new apartment. I know that you come to Bali twice a year on your yoga and mindfulness retreats, so your review means a lot. Thank you and looking forward to seeing you later in the year. Murni

It was a beautiful place to stay...the warm welcome and personable staff made it extra special.
I loved the space we called home for 10 nights...it was modern yet had that "Bali" charm I had expected.
It was very close to everything...our daily walks helped keep off the pesky pounds that usually find me on holidays. I loved having the spa right there and enjoyed my luxurious treatments. The girls were fantastic and the tea was delicious!
If I was ever to go back I would definately stay at Murni's again.
The only thing it lacked was a pool... Read more

From the warm welcome on arrival, through the breakfasts and tea times, the staff at Murni's was always smiling and offering ways to make our stay more pleasant. The Houses offer a special ambiance and comfort in the center of a very busy town. Murni's knowledge of Ubud and her suggestions for cultural activities, greatly helped to expand our experiences. And the Spa is a delight...so close at hand.
In short we had a wonderful experience at Murni's and we look forward to our next visit! Read more
