a great place to spend time... huge pool on lush grounds. We had a great month here and kadek, the houseboy, took great care of us.Get Kadek to make you eggs for breakfast as he makes the best eggs i have had!
Such a lovely big quiet villa and we spent alot of our time out on the verandah enjoying the breezes and stunning views of the rice fields. If you want a lovely quiet and open place to stay then look no further, wonderful! -

Very clean villa with excellent daily service from Kadek our house
boy / man.
The breakfast's were delicious. Indonesians really have a way with scrambled eggs.
Very private pool and verandah area where we felt safe and comfortable.
Just a short taxi ride to central Ubud or a walk if not too hot.
Eve day spa just minutes away is a wonderful day spa that is a must visit place.
We will be returning.

It's probably the best deal you can possibly find in Ubud.
A very comfortable villa with a private pool, rice paddy view and all that for a very reasonable price. I've stayed there twice and will try to stay there again - the only problem being, others have also discovered that the villa's a real treasure, so you have to book well in advance.

There is nothing not to love about Villa Damai! Down a quiet laneway with plenty of privacy, this private villa is a hidden gem. The villa was built only a few years ago but feels so, so homely. The grounds are large with beautiful tropical plants, a great sized pool, two fish ponds and a bure with a massage table and day bed that overlooks rice paddies. The villa is large, open plan with high ceilings, full kitchen, dinning area, four poster bed and day bed/ couch. There are plenty of movies on hand and cable TV too. The bathroom is also beautifully spacious.
The veranda is perfect for a delicious breakfast outdoor.
Kadek is the house boy at this villa, so he will prepare your breakfast and clean daily for you. Kadek is a superb cook (ask him to make you an omelette - you'll be glad you did!). It is clear that Kadek takes great pride in his work.
Although there is no air conditioning in the villa, we didn't miss it as the house stayed nice and cool with it's beautifully high ceilings.
Villa Damai is really perfect for a solo traveller, couple or family with one child as there are no separate bedrooms.
We loved villa Damai so much and are sure you will too. The value it offers is unbeatable.
If you are traveling with a larger group, you could also look at hiring out the neighboring private villas via Ubud Private Villas.
Steve from Ubud Private Villas is a pleasure to deal with and made our trip super easy.
Some favorite eats nearby- Bayu's, Vespa, Kué, Indus, Lala & Lili's.

Didn't seem to be able to leave Ubud...First stay was at a health resort and before leaving found a driver to take us to different accommodations to check out before leaving for a week in Legian. We found Steve (thx Steve) and booked Villa Damai which is pretty well my dream stay, quiet with own pool, perfectly beautiful garden and a wonderful outdoor gazebo with day bed to while away a warm afternoon with the sound of nature all around. We didn't want to leave so back we went to Steve and he found a vacancy In villa Heliconia and was within a fraction of adding more time to stay even longer. The area has the best natural food restaurant (Alchemy) a few minutes up the road. The initial path down to the villas is sufficiently quirky and rundown to cause some fear but significantly adds to the surprise when entering your own private villa within a walled garden. A word of thanks also for the charming and helpful houseboys who made beautiful breakfasts and even more beautiful smiles :) and ended up taking us sadly back to Legian.

Villa Damai is a lovely home away from home. Go there, you won't be disappointed. In fact, you'll book another 2 holidays there in advance so you don't miss out. That's what we did!

We stayed in Villa Damai for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon, the location is fantiasic in Penestanan giving you total peace and relaxation. It is a 15-20 min leisurely walk into Ubud centre (or you can grab a taxi locally for 30,000Rp). The villa is immaculate and the grounds are fantastic - the pool is a wonderful size.
Daily breakfast by the house boy is also excellent with your choice of eggs, toast & fresh fruit. Great service with minimum intrusion!
It is also worth booking the driver for a trip through the rice terraces & up to the volcanic views as these are sights not to be missed (3-4hr 250,000Rp).
Overall a fantistic stay! -

Villa Damai suited us to the ground. For a couple it was spacious, very clean, well set out with all we could want. We went in June but in the hotter months I'd like to have air-conditioning. Kadex arrived each morning and made breakfast then cleaned inside and out, such a delightful fellow. A good position only 15 mins walk to Ubud main and in a very good part of town. Will definatly use Private Ubud Villas next time. Thank You Steve

Our stay at Villa Damai was just perfect. The location amongst the rice paddis is a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Kuta and a great place to recharge the batteries. Ubud town centre is a 15-minute walk away, the local supermarket just a stroll through winding paths and warungs close by.
The villa is well appointed with a spacious bathroom, king size bed, plunge pool and immaculate gardens, which make for a relaxing stay, especially when the room boy cooks breakfast each day and takes care of the housekeeping. Overall, a great place to unwind and enjoy the serenity of Ubud. -

We had the best surprise at Villa Damai. 1. It really is more beautiful than the photos. 2. The team are brill, from booking with Steve and constantly picking his brains to Kedak our host who cooked us beautiful breakfasts and kept our home for a little over a month immaculate. Villa Damai really felt like home, we so enjoyed being part of the local community and wonderful to have the freedom than staying in a resort. Friends we made who came and enjoyed Damai with us were blown away. The locals are a delight, fun and helpful. Damai is a beautiful open plan space both indoors and outside. A delicious pool and stunning garden. The view of the rice fields make the outside space seem vast and yet cosy. Steve arranged our transport from the airport and took all the stress away of getting taxis and finding the villa. The location is great as it is just outside the busy town of Ubud, allowing us to enjoy what Ubud has to offer and the luxury of staying in a peaceful environment. Hiring a car or a motorbike is so easy on the high street 2 mins walk from Damai. We recommend Gerebig for hiring a car, Intuitive Flow for yoga I so enjoyed my yoga classes every other day with Linda the owner. She is an inspiration and her classes cater for the more mature of us and for different fitness levels. Great local restaurants where you can get takeout and we enjoyed many dishes from Bayu who deliver. . You are so close to ricefield walks, the mountains, fabulous restaurants, great shopping. 5mins by bike or 20 min walk to Ubud. Wonderful local dances in Ubud. Tip - get the Ubud little catalogue to discover what is going on. There was a temptation to keep Damai a secret so we can be sure of getting future bookings...but no we have to share this beautiful place. For sure we will be back. A big thank you to the team. Is there anything we didn't like...a resounding no.

Stayed here for 4 nites in February and wished I had have booked for longer.
Looks better than in the photo's...the look on my wife's face was priceless when we walked through the door...we were both blown away !
Situated in Panestanan about 5 min drive or 20 min walk from Ubud...would hire a scooter next trip !
Everything has been thought of here to make your stay as pleasant as possible...even had bug spray + DVD movies if you wanted to waste an hour or two.
Very private location up a long alleyway the villa was very quiet . it was easy to lose track of time...in fact slept in til 9am on 2 occasions !
Kadak was our host during our stay + he came in every day + prepared us breakfast then cleaned the villa to the same standard as we arrived - my wife wanted to take him home !
Used the pool every day along with the bale which was an excellent spot for quiet time for reading a book !
Vsited Bayu's Kitchen , Cafe Mendez + Babu's Warung for dinner which were all excellent within walking distance to Villa Damai !
Treated ourselves to Eve Day Spa on one occasion also which was excellent.
There is a small shop down the alleyway fro the villa which we used to buy drink + snacks - there was another shop + restaurant being built within 100m during our stay.
Booking the villa was a breeze + Steve [expat aussie] was very prompt in returning my emails...no deposit was needed , simply paid a couple of days after we arrived [how good is that!]
Will return again for a much longer stay with family to this piece of Paradise ! -

The place is amazing! We were blown away the minute we stepped through the doors. The pool is wonderful to jump in after long day trips or great to spend the whole day floating in. The huge, shaded daybed was also a favourite place to relax either reading a book, getting a massage or having a nap. Inside the villa is well set out with beautiful yet practical furniture, the stunning four poster bed is enormous and the cable tv and dvd library kept us entertained on lazy days. The kitchen is well equipped although our lovely housekeeper cooked us breakfast every morning and we ordered heaps off the free delivery menu from Bayu's Kitchen so I didn't use it much.
The location is also very good, there is a small shop that sells the basics approx 20m from the villa and also a big supermarket within walking distance (once you have figured out the secret winding pathways in the area which are also very beautiful).
There are also many great places to eat out or have drinks close to the villa.
All in all the place is memorable and we would definitely stay here again. -

Villa Damai is absolutely gorgeous! It looks much more better than the photos can show, it's spacious, clean and very private. We enjoyed it for 2 weeks and would definitely go back again.
The kitchen is fully equipped, the bathroom is huge, sheets and towels are clean, staff is friendly and helpful. The view is amazing with rice fields, palm trees and exotic flowers.
The only problem is that it's a little bit too far from the city centre and you will have to rent a bike or use a taxi service. If you decide to walk, the distance is 30-40 min one way. With a bike around 5 min.

My husband and I spent some time at Villa Damai and we had an incredible time. The villa is very clean and secure and we couldn't have asked for a better place to spend some relaxing time.
The town is 20min walk or 5 in motorbike, but we both like walking so it was perfect as we were not in the middle of the town with all the noise. The only noise in the morning was the roosters that were waking us up.
Susanta, was very nice in preparing our breakfast every morning.

What a pleasant place to stay within easy reach of all the delights in Penestanan and Ubud. The villa is very spacious with a great yard, a large pool just right for cooling off and views of the rice fields from the terrace or bale to relax with. Susanto, the roomboy, looks after your needs and is a charming smiling fellow. There are many good cheap eating places, shops with many interesting items to buy and all within easy walk of the villa, The ability to stroll through rice fields on either side of Penestanan is a pleasure. There are also fantastic spas (Eve Body Treatment Centre for one) and yoga centers to help with the relaxation and pampering. A place to return to for that 'deserved time away'.
