SingaporeParadise to be relaxed within tranquil rice field...
Left on 02/21/2013 for a stay in February 2013
The place is surrounded by rice field and have a fantastic view when you open the window from second floor of Villa . It is cooler than Denparsar area as it is in the mountain area. The water in swimming pool is extracted from deep well and very clear.
The staff service is good and helpful. They are always ready to help. I am quite satisfied with the staying experience, although the road is little bit bump and sometimes difficult to find if you are first time to be here. -

We stayed at Villa agung Khalia with our 4 small children in Villa 1. The staff were all consistently warm, friendly and very helpful. My daughter celebrated her 11th birthday during our stay and the staff went out of their way to arrange a delicious birthday feast and celebration for her. We were amazed by the excellent service.
Breakfast was delicious and very generous. The villa is huge, clean and extremely well appointed. The location is perfect, away from the noise and bustle of town but with staff available to drive you in and pick you up. The visiting massage therapist is a gem.
We look forward to returning and in the meantime have wonderful memories to keep! -

Our stay at the honeymoon villa was the real stay that we where looking for in ubud.It had every aspect of the culture surrounding us, the rice fields and its cascading water. The smell of the early morning offerings placed around the villas and the peaceful and relaxed feel of the surrounds. We could have been in heaven if only. The villa was great with open sliding doors that had full view of the fields and a beautiful breeze that blew straight into our room. The giant size timber bed had a slide show of nature at its best. The bathroom was big and clean, the villa had all that we needed and more. Lets also talk about the great pool that we had all to ourselves it was crystal clear and so inviting with our sun lounges and umbrella it was hard to draw ourselves away from this little bit of paradise. We had lunch by the pool it was fantastic and breakfast in the morning was looked forward to. The staff that work at the villa were very friendly and caring. The next booking would be for there giant three bedroom villa these are very spacious for all the family and more. Thankyou for a fantastic stay Natalie and Ed

I stayed at the agung Khalia (villa 1) with my partner, his brother and sister-in-law in august - it was amazing. The service from beginning to end was impeccable. We were given a mobile phone on arrival to call for anything we wanted. From bringing more drinks to the villa, ordering dinner, a massage or a trip out.
My boyfriend and his brother went on a trip down a local volcano organised by Guru which they enjoyed a lot.
The villa itself was spotless and worth every penny, the bedrooms were comfortable, but the real jewel in the crown is the outside pool area and the lounge.
It's about a 10 minute car journey into Ubud town centre, which isn't an issue unless you want wild nights out. The villa is so peaceful (with the exception of the ducks in the surrounding paddy fields!) and really was the easiest place to relax in the world.
If travelling on your own you'd feel completely looked after and safe at the agung Khalia, one of our group is planning when to come back! -

What can i say about Villa aghung Khalia, its paradise. My friends and i after our research on Ta booked Villa 1 .very easily online with Laura. From the moment we arrived we loved everything about it, although we had a bit of a wait at the airport to be picked up it was all explained and all was good.
We were welcomed with a cold drink, and from then on the staff could not do enough for us. It made such a difference to our stay. They would bring our breakfast by the pool every morning and ask about our plans for the day. Everything was arranged for us, excursions for the day and transport to and from any restaurant of our choice at night.
The rooms were all cleaned perfectly every morning and our washing done for a small charge. Our only regret was we only stayed for 7 days, wished we had booked for longer, but we all decided we will be back. -

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We had a lovely stay at the villa. It is very spacious, and could easily accommodate seven people. The service was very good and the owners have thought about many details, such as providing a loaner laptop computer and a cell phone so that you can call the Villa for pick-ups in Ubud. The shuttle service is well manned and we never needed to wait to go into Ubud., although pick up in Ubud depends on traffic volume but did not cause us any difficulties. One thing that is somewhat annoying is that the doors are very heavy, and will loudly slam shut if not left propped open. A lovely place to go to after the busyness of Ubud.

Left on 08/19/2011 for a stay in June 2011
I feel like I don't want to recommend agung Khalia ... I want to keep it to myself and not tell anyone about it. However, that would be unfair to the owner, who has built magnificent villas and employed some great local people. It would be unfair to agung who took us on a walk through the rice paddies and let our kids play with his chickens. It would be unfair to the staff who took us to a largely balinese-only night market for a great meal of babi guling (roast suckling pig). It would not be fair to our friendly drivers like Ketut, and staff like Dewi and Nyoman who made our stay so nice. Or our gardener who came to hand-cut our beautifully manicured lawn with a sickle each day.
The villas are a lot bigger than they look, and the tropical gardens are beautifully manicured. The villas are situated in the middle of lush green rice paddies, only a short drive from Ubud. Drivers are on hand to take you into Ubud and pick you up whenever you want.
Agung Khalia is not a 5-star hotel, but it is a beautiful tropical villa set in loveley landscaped tropical gradens, with a beautiful pool.
The people are beautiful, the villas are superb, the location is great and the value for money is fantastic. Enjoy your stay! -

After much searching on the internet, we chose Villa agung Khalia as the place to stay for a family celebration. We hired Villas 2 and 3 as we needed six bedrooms, and the pool separating the two was reserved for our use.
Laura, who handled all the reservation details, was incredibly patient as we changed our booking back and forth due to different members of our group altering plans and vacillating. She was always friendly and helpful!
On arrival, we were met at the airport by staff drivers in two vehicles for the trip to Ubud. They organised all the luggage for us and produced bottles of cold water for us to drink, which were very welcome as we were acclimatising to the heat from a much colder australia.
On the trip to Ubud our driver was very helpful, answering our questions along the way and making us feel safe in the somewhat chaotic traffic!
Arriving at the villa we were greeted by the manager and other staff members and shown to our villas, where more cold drinks awaited us. The villas themselves were amazing, surrounded by lush gardens within the walls and rice paddies outside. Two stories high, the master suite, living/dining room and kitchen were downstairs and two more suites upstairs with a large sitting area and balconies. Each bedroom had its own bathroom and fans. The master suite had an airconditioner which could be turned on for an additional cost, but we found the fans were more than sufficient to both keep us cool and discourage the mosquitoes.
The rooms were all comfortably furnished and spotless. Staff cleaned thoroughly every day and laundry could be arranged for a small fee. Masseuses could also be arranged to attend personally at the bales in the garden, of which there are several.
Breakfast (included in the tariff) was served in an outdoor dining area overlooking the rice paddies at the far side of the complex, just off Villa 3. Choices were good as was the food itself, and coffee, tea and juice constantly available. If we preferred, breakfast could have been served at our patio tables by the pool, as was lunch and snacks. When some in our group were leaving at 3am for a volcano climb, the staff came a little earlier with coffee and toasted sandwiches, above and beyond IMO :-)
We also had a couple of dinners at the villa, which we enjoyed.
Transport was available all day until 10pm at no cost to shuttle us in and out of Ubud itself, and we were given a pre-programmed mobile phone to call the villa for pickup when we were ready to come back. For a small fee we could have stayed out after 10pm but we were ready to come back by then as we had a baby in our group. Longer trips and tours could be arranged with the staff for a fee depending on distance.
The staff really made our holiday fabulous, the villa itself was great but the staff were all so friendly and obliging, nothing was too much trouble. During meals if baby was fidgetty one or another staff member would smilingly cuddle him and take him for a walk around the gardens so his parents could enjoy their dinner in peace. If we suddenly wanted coffee or a snack, we had but to ask. They also helped with restaurant reservations and recommendations. If only staff here at home were half as good :-)
We were very sorry to leave at the end of our time in Villa agung Khalia, and hope very much to return. Fellow guests in Villa 1 have stayed there several times, I can totally understand why. It was so restful and relaxing there. -

The perfect location for a relaxing holiday. 10 minutes by car from the centre of Ubud and completely quiet and isolated when you return to the Villa. Agung, his family and staff go out of their way to ensure that you do have the perfect holiday. They even arranged fireworks for my son's birthday celebrations. All our excursions were arranged by the staff at significantly lower prices than we were quoted before leaving australia. You will not be disapointed with a stay at The Villa agung Khalia

From the moment you arrive you know you have made a choice to have an unforgettable experience. The Villas are stunningly beautiful, and sparkling clean. The staff is courteous and attentive, seemingly at any hour of the day or night. You are surrounded by hundreds od acres of rice paddies, yet only 10-15 minute free drop off to all the shops, spas and culture of Ubud.
We stayed in the honeymoon villa, which is gorgeous with a nice pool. Villa not much larger than a European Hotel room, with nice Veranda. A little small for us, but attractively priced. Just dont expect a huge living space.
We transferred to villa 1 for 3 days, and it was monstrous. I'm guessing 400sm, but not sure. Pool is huge and clean and inviting! Bedrooms air Conditioned, Breezes flow through the house. Relaxing and spacious.
Agung and "Guru" (Nengah) will take good care you. Dewi (some call her Debbie) serves a basic but tasty hot breakfast with a smile.
Some Ideas:
I asked agung to show me everything about cultivating and harvesting rice. This resulted in an impromptu 3 hour walking tour that started with planting, transplanting, weeding (I tried this in the mud for 15 minutes- wouldn't want to make a creer of it), all the way to harvest and processing.
Most tourists at some point see a traditional Balinese Dance and Music performace. We asked the staff what it would take to have one at the villas just for us. A 2 hour performance with barb b q and traditional costumed dancers, with large bamboo band including percussion set us back less than you would think. We did this the last night as a way to say thank you to the staff.
Also arranged for us was a 1 hour Yoga Class by an amazingly talented woman. Again, right at the villas, and very reasonable.
The Drivers were very good, and we never had to wait. Trips to town were way shorter than we imagined. 15 minutes tops depending on where you are going. We never felt isolated.
Owners communication was also prompt, helpful, and frequent. They really care about you and their staff and it shows.
Some tips:
phone
agung and Guru loaned us a phone so we could call when we needed a ride. I also needed to call the states for some important long conversations, and had spent over 500.00 us on "Resort Charges" in Seminyak. Agung too me to a phone store where I got an inexpensive phone and Sim Card. I could call globally for about 10 bucks an hour. We are new to distant travel, so we had no idea it was that easy. We will be taking this phone to Thailand later this month and just pick up a local Sim Card.
Internet
all Internet we encountered in Bali was slow by our standards, and there are backups and outages regularly. This is not the fault of anyone, it's just what it is. The WiFi here worked very well, and we had no trouble sending small pics or recieving email. Not fast enough for reliable Skype, which you don't need if you have a local phone sim card.
Critters
I read every review here thoroughly before choosing, and saw one that mentioned a dirty bathroom. That's not exactly the case. When you are in the tropical climate, you will see some Geccos. They are good! They eat the mosquitos. They also occasionally leave a little souveneir of their presence. We found one in the bathtub, which initially seemed like a cleaning issue, but after it was explained to us, we just laughed. We love Geccos.
Air conditioner
OK I am a wuss who lives in Seattle, where 70 degrees is warm. After a few weeks I became acclimated to Bali temperatures. Bedrooms are air Conditioned. The air conditioner in the honeymoon suite did not seem to make it cool enough for me, at first. I asked, and the staff brought me a fan- that did the trick right away. Did not have any problem in Villa 1, in fact it was plenty cold in bedroom at night. Note to staff: Either I just got used to not being in Seattle, or Honeymoon Villa air conditioner may be weak and/or need service.
Tipping
Being from america, we would feel bad if we didn't tip. It is not required, and often not expected. We found that, thanks to americans who have come before us, it is expected of us because we are american! :-) And that's OK. What we did in Bali generally was wait until the last day to thank the whole staff with a tip. -

Left on 01/29/2011 for a stay in August 2010
Agung and his family/staff were wonderful and gracious hosts. The villa was spacious with beautiful vistas over the rice fields and foothills. At night under a full moon among the silhouette of the rice fields we heard an elderly gentleman chanting in the distance, frogs, crickets and the soft babble from the nearby streams made the evening magical. Air conditioning was never necessary since the villa is located in the foothills and cool breezes drift down from the mountains. Darren and agung really operate a jewel and the website is accurate and honest. In august 2009, our family with 2 teenage daughters ages 15 and 12 visited the villa and enjoyed the swimming pool, bicycling through the rice fields, Ubud culture and food, and the warm hospitality from agung and his family/staff. This was a "Magical Bali Dream".

Left on 11/20/2010 for a stay in November 2010
We stayed here with our 2 kids (10yrs & 5yrs) from 3rd to 13th Nov 2010.
Plus Points -
1. It was exactly as described by the owner and reviewers online - no deception here. Lovely huge villas, friendly and helpful staff...thanks agung, Guru, Putu, Dharma, Dewi et all :), good amenities, lots of peace and quiet.
2. Great massages in the quaint little pavilion beside the villa with the sound of flowing water in the background.
3. Our kids loved the pool which was well maintained, decent sized with a kiddie pool, lots of pool toys.
4. Breakfast was quite predictable especially since we were there for 10 days, but the always smiling staff and lovely setting of the breakfast tables more than made up for it.
5. We hired the villa car twice for trips to East Bali for snorkelling and then for a trip in and around Ubud -once we were taken around by Dharma, and once by agung- we enjoyed the trips.
6. They provide you with a local mobile phone which you can keep with you and use for the duration of the stay - this was a great convenience.
Negative -
1. It's a good 10 to 15 min drive from main Ubud, so one cannot just saunter out - but the staff is very willing to drop and pick up to and from Ubud so we never felt tied down.
2. Limited lunch and dinner menu at the villas, which by the way has to be ordered 4 hrs in advance for them to get time to prep. We never really ordered in at the Villa - made our own Hot dogs, pastas from packets etc, or drove over to Ubud.
3. Many of the more popular international TV channels were not available like Star World, HBO and other cartoon channels etc, but there were 2 Tv's and 2 DVD players, and a decent collection of Dvd's at the villa, plus there are many DVD shops in Ubud where you can get super cheap Dvd's so we never really had to worry about the kids getting bored.
4. The second last day my son got mildly bitten by Puti the villa dog when he was petting the animal and accidentally stepped on Puti's tail, so not really the dog's fault - they assured us that he is vaccinated, but we got them to drive us to the local clinic for Rabies shots given the high incidence of rabies in Bali, so that was a bit of a downer.
All in all a good holiday, plus centrally located in Bali so we visited places to the N.East, South, S.West from here, all day trips.
Suggestions -
One suggestion we would make is that the owners keep a collection of menus from various restaurants in Ubud who are ready to deliver food to the Villa so guests have that option too.
Also a second flat screen Tv upstairs would be nice - the present one is terribly dinky. -

From the time you are greeted by Agung and his wonderful staff you know you are going to have a great stay and are in safe, trustworthy hands. We have been to Bali many times and have finally found what we consider the best place to stay. Villa Agung Khalia is in the middle of some rice paddies and for the price that you pay you are getting 5 star accomodation at a 3 star price. The villas are stunning and have everything that you need for a comfortable relaxing stay. We come from Perth, West Aust and were a bit concerned about the lack of air-conditioning as we rely on it back home during the hot summer. I assure you that due to the design of these villas (they are insect proof however allow in the breeze) they do not need to be air-conditioned. Also keep in mind that Ubud is cooler than Kuta, Sanur etc. However, if you really want it it can be arranged for you, but take it from us you definitely do not need it, the fans are more than adequate. In fact, we only had ours on low and were extremely comfortable both day and night.
Another tip, if you want to go on any bike riding or white water rafting tours, Agung can arrange this for you. We paid for our tours before leaving Perth via the internet at what we thought was a special price for booking on the net, only to find that Agung could have organised it all for us for a fraction of the cost. Lap-top with net access is also available if you need it at no cost.
Our 8 year old son also had a wonderful time as the staff spoilt him with pool toys, DVD's, books and games and made him feel really special everytime they passed by. We haven't stopped talking to friends and family about the luxury of Villa Agung Khalia and the warmth and friendliness of all the lovely staff.
My husband works in the mining industry and reacons that the Villas would also be great for work conferences.
We are hoping to bring more family members and stay as a group next year as we loved it so much. -

Sometimes the place you view on the Internet exceeds your expectations in
wonderful and delightful ways. Villa Agung Khalia definitely surpasses what
you see in photos. The whole experience made us feel like VIPs- the site,
the warm staff and unrelenting service, and the amenities.
The Villa is so astounding that I got teary eyed at the beauty and even more
amazed that we had the good fortune to stay here! It is modern yet has
tasteful Balinese touches, very spacious (you could have a great party here),
splendid views of bright green rice fields which you can enjoy from several
porches and vistas, a full size pool and even a private Balinese temple
where I too gave offerings of gratitude-for being at this Villa.
The staff is amazing-they keep the place immaculate, are always on site to
help you, drivers are available to take you to town (6mins) or to tour you
around the island all day. The staff is even there when you come home late
at night to make sure all is well. We were lucky to meet the owners- Darren
and his wife and children and that was another highlight. We felt like part of
the Agung Khalia family and staff all the while enjoying 5 star
accommodations at a reasonable rate. Great for families, retreats, groups,
and soon they will add cooking and yoga classes, so you have it all in
exquisite splendor. Terima Kasih to Darren and family and Agung and staff. -

Pros:
Exceptional, this is a 1 of kind experience!
Location, surrounded by incredible rice field panorama yet close drive to town
Architecture, over 5000 sq ft villa, a mansion, new, shaped like a pagoda
Backyard, pool with fountains, koi ponds and huge retreat area
Staff, so kind, warm, attentive, they become friends..staff of over 6 round the clock security
Mobility, the staff with drive you into town anytime and pick u up, a short 8 minutes
If you are looking for a one of kind great experience, this is it! My sister had tears in her eyes upon arriving from the sheer splendor and magnificence of the villa and views. You are surrounded as far as the eye can see with terraced green rice paddy fields surrounding the villas (there are actually 3 in a row) 360 degrees- just breathtaking. The villa is incredible size, modern, with many balconies to take in the views and quiet without the hustle and bustle of downtown Ubud- you can really hear nature and retreat into this sanctuary. Full cable TV, music, wireless internet free and because of its higher elevation location and cieling fans- perfect temperature. The staff makes breafast everymorning, and they are just the best people...and we were lucky enough to be greeted by the owners Darren and his wife (college professors) and children who were visiting Bali in the adjacent villa- they really added value to our stay with great stories of world travel and insights into where to go in Bali.
Ubud, is a hustle and bustle little town with many activities to keep you busy. Feeding the wild monkeys pineapples in the forest, riding elephants, shopping for arts and crafts and general sightseeing to name a few. Lots of place to dine on the cheap compared to the USA- Cafe Luna, Cafe Wayan, Kafe were notable. We had a 2 hour massage every day and one of the incredible number of spas ( only $15 for a 2 hour massage!).

New York, NYA Heavenly Experience
Left on 10/12/2009 for a stay in September 2009
When we first landed, our flight was an hour early and the pickup driver from the villa was nowhere to be found. "Are we screwed?" we thought to ourselves. But as soon as Mr Agung arrived, our experience with the staff members, services, etc. was great and we quickly forgave them for being late (after all, most flights are never early!).
The interior and exterior of the place were beautifully appointed with balinese art. My favorite part of the villa was the pool. We swam in it every morning and night.
There were 3 rooms in the villa that we stayed in, of which we only occupied 2 rooms. All of the rooms were spacious and well equipped. The only things lacking were bath mats and hair dryer in the bathrooms. The bathroom floors could get slippery. The bed was harder than what I am used to, but it didn't hurt my back. The master bedroom is the only room with air conditioning but since Ubud is quite mild in temperature, a fan is usually sufficient to cool the air down.
The services provided were impeccable. Morning breakfasts in the patio were always lovely. We were given several options on the menu and I definitely recommend the banana pancake (Japple). We always left the breakfast table with full stomachs. The shuttle service to Ubud downtown is also very convenient. Mr. Agung is always there to assist you with our transportation needs. We rented the all day car service for usd$30 and were able to cover quite a few of the main attractions on the island in a single day, thanks to Mr. Agung's brother. On our last day, I tried the in-house massage service. I was given the choice to have it outdoors/indoors and I chose indoors because I wasn't too keen on getting naked outdoors. The massage was very good though a little overpriced for Ubud. You must tell her to massage you "not so hard" or you could be in pain.
I would definitely recommend this villa to all my friends visiting Ubud/Bali. I am looking forward to my next visit. -

I have just returned from one of the most pleasurable holidays of my life. The Villa Agung
Khalia was everything that the previous reviewers

Agung and his fabulous staff were exceptional.
Nothing was too much trouble and most requests
(computer access, cooking class, massage, day trips

arranged within a very short time. Agung even
provided a mobile phone for guests to contact the
villa for shuttle pick by their excellent driver or

provided throughout our stay that were much
appreciated by us.
The surroundings are gorgeous, the villa being
situated in the heart of the rice padis of rural

daily. The landscaped gardens are meticulously
maintained and the pool is very clean and
refreshing.
If you don't like the sounds of nature or the
countryside then this is not the place for you. But
if you enjoy a little bit of luxury in beautiful
rural surroundings, witnessing the even tenor and
traditions of daily life of the Balinese, then you
can't go past Villa Agung Khali - a little slice of
heaven on earth. -

This is a stunning location, beautiful, clean, spacious villa, tastefully
decorated. The gardens and pool a tropical paradise surrounded by the rice
fields. You'll ask yourself "Is this heaven?". The staff were fantastic, always
ready to help with all of our requests. We had a wonderful time and hope to
return very soon. A great place to stay for families, a group of friends or a
couple wanting a bit more space. -

Last month I stayed at Villa Agung Khalia in Ubud and this was my first time in Bali. I loved it! The villa was beautiful; all the workers took great care of us; the breakfasts were great!; I really felt at home there. I highly recommend Villa Agung Khalia for anyone who wants to be a few miles from the hustle and bustle of Ubud and be amongst the rice fields but only be a few minutes from town - a wonderful place to stay!

Left on 09/14/2009 for a stay in July 2009
We came to celebrate grandma's 60th birthday and enjoyed staying together in one house/villa, each with our own private rooms. The grandchildren loved the idea that this was a house, and not a hotel, with a kitchen, dining area and living room. Of course they also loved that they had their own swimming pool!
The Villas are run by Mr. Agung's family so there is a great family feel to the place. They come by and performed prayers every day to the small shrines in each villa, which was really great for the kids to see. Family run also means that things move at a slower place, so take it easy and relax!
It was very relaxing to be in the middle of rice fields a little outside Ubud. The nights were cool and the fan was more than enough.
We also enjoyed buying food from the supermarket and cooking in our kitchen. You need to plan in advance though since popping out for food isn't as easy as if you lived in Ubud. A delicious breakfast is provided every morning.
Overall we had an excellent time. The Agung family is charming and they bring the right feel to a relaxing family vacation. -

The villa is situated at the end of a long bumpy road in the middle of paddy
fields. We were surprised by the beauty of the surroundings and the quality of
the villa. Newly built, in traditional style, it is large, spacious and beautifully
fitted out. The pool was a constant delight to the children, and the peace of
the bale-bale in the lotus pond was a favourite with the adults. The beds
were large and very comfortable and for me the ceiling fan in the bedroom
was unnecessary as the building remained cool at night. The children
preferred to keep theirs on. Agung and his staff were attentive and helpful and
did everything to ensure that our stay was fulfilling and happy - they
succeeded - thank you. We will come back! -

This Villa is such a great place to stay in Ubud. The service there is fantastic. From
the owner Mr. Darren Leaver to the great friendly staff at the Villa everyone makes
sure that your taken care of. Darren and some of the drivers at the Villa like Agung
and Nyoman and others will make sure you have a great time and see all that you
want to see. Every morning there is a delicious breakfast from a great cook that will
fill you up and give you lots of energy for the day. The Villa's all have wi-fi access
and are set up great with overflow pools and Bali cabana's for an outdoor massage.
The Villa's are very comfortable at night downstairs and upstairs with just the
overhead fan to keep you cool. The bedrooms and the bathrooms along with the
entire Villa are beautiful and very functional and comfortable. The kitchens are roomy
and well equiped. The refridgerators are filled with water and some beer. One of the
drivers can take you to a nearby market if you need your own supplies. The drivers
were great about taking you wherever you needed to go. Ubud is a great location with
lots of interesting sites and a great central location to see all of Bali. I loved my stay
here and would do so again in a heartbeat. -

A blissful setting in the paddyfields away from the noise and stress of Ubud, yet close enough to enjoy the rich cultural life there.
Our stay at this villa was the highlight of our three weeks in Bali (and far better than the other two).
Everything worked well. The inital emails and help from the owner were very well appreciated. The staff are delightful.
The manager is an asset to the local community (and a very nice chap) - he knows everyone and gets things done. A night out - done, a cooking course - done.
The villas themselves are very luxurious and well appointed. My BIL said that he "felt like a rockstar" during the stay.
We particuarly enjoyed the swimming pool(s) that are ideal for both serious swimmers and for people who just like to paddle. The pools are very clean & well looked after. There is no smell (or after effects) of chlorine.
Inside the villas are cool and exceptionally well "finished" with marble, carvings and art. Ceiling fans work better then aircon because of the high ceilings.
Our thanks to the owner, manager and all the staff.

We have stayed with family (including three children) for 3 days in the villa agung khalia in Ubud. We have experienced a warm welkom by the villa staff and this was extended during our entire stay. We were escorted by Mr Agung during our site seeing trip and got free taxi service to Ubud when needed. The facility is extremely big for our family and we appreciated the space we had and the view. Nothing was to much for the staff and also our kids had the pool and the free Wifi access if we were spending our time at the villa.
We like to recommend the Villa to everybody who likes comfort, view and hospitality. -

We were two families staying at the villa (Villa II and III). We found the location exceptional. It was nice to be out in the middle of the rice fields. This was our third summer in a row to Bali (and Ubud) and we were not disappointed to be a little further out of town. The villas are spacious and everything needed is provided. Agung and his staff were very helpful and always willing to assist us with anything that we required. This is an address I would highly recommend and the price is extremely correct.
The only problem we encountered was our laundry. You need to ask them not to use any bleach since many items were ruined with yellow spots. -

hmmm where to start...okay so you have bali which is a tropical paradise in itself but THEN the Villa Agung Khalia is even more than that. It is a luxury villa that one can refer to as "home" in a very short time.
It is nestled in the rice fields and boasts tropical landscape around and in the villa. As far as the rooms go, it is like having a mini apartment but someone comes and cleans and cooks for you every day! Each member of the crew is super sweet!! I even had a few cigarettes (only smoking on holiday) with a member or two of the crew who readily offered me one of theirs first. In the morning, you can look forward to one of the best breakfasts you will ever have. Especially the banana pancakes. Dont forget!
The rooms are fantastic with a spacious bathroom and a comfy bed. The nights are cool and fresh air is a lovely night time companion. Fortunately, that stuffy drying AC is not even needed at the villa. And during the day there is often a breeze blowing and you can just hop in one of pools to cool off.
On top of all that, the villa is just minutes from downtown Ubud so it is easy to go to a fire dance or eat at what tastes like a 5-star restaurant but that is cheaper than McDonalds!!
Overall, the Villa Agung Khalia made my vacation in Bali more enjoyable times a billion (I am still trying to convince myself it was not just a dream). Please treat yourself to this little piece of paradise that I was so lucky to enjoy. And tell the crew that Kenzie says hi and is planning her next trip to Bali ASAP. -

Darwin, AustraliaParadise in the rice paddies
Left on 07/04/2009 for a stay in January 2009
These villas are beautiful, spacious and very relaxing. The gardens, the pools, and the setting all combine to create a little enclave amongst the rice paddies that is truly away from it all. The service from Anak Agung and the other staff is always helpful and polite and there when required. We travelled with children and they were made most welcome and Agung found local artists to teach them Balinese art and dancing. It's a bumpy ride in to the villas, but that might be the price of seclusion; and the kitchens could do with some additional equipment, but that is only a problem if you want to cook. Otherwise, excellent and cherished.

We spent a week at the Villas, hiring all three for an extended family vacation!! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were extremely happy! The villas themselves were quite palatial - much larger than experienced anywhere else in Bali - or in the world actually! Each of the bedrooms were big enough to resort to for some quiet time, and were supplemented with wonderful living spaces and balconies/porches! We spent almost all our time on the porches, eating and relaxing, watching the kids in the pool!
The kitchens are well equipped and we were able to prepare meals for ourselves - a wonderful bonus considering we had young children with us.
The extra bits and pieces around the villas demonstrated a thoughtful management. Water bottle holders allowed us to buy gallon bottles of water - avoiding the pollution of lots of little bottles. Heaps of toys for the pool kept the kids happy - as did the musical instruments and games available! The adults were very pleased with the provision of mobile phones and broadband wireless internet! Brilliant thinking!
There was not one thing the staff couldn't do! Every request was fulfilled happily and promptly! This was greatly appreciated, considering the relative isolation of the location - one couldn't pop out the door to a shop. The staff replaced water bottles quickly and easily, organised crates of beer and even organised a suckling pig for us!
The isolation of the villas - located in rice fields - is one of its charms - but does mean a rough road trip for the last few hundred metres....this is more than worth it - but might be a bit uncomfortable for some.
Finally, the communication with the owner of the villa cannot be faulted at all! He had a genuine concern for us as his guests and has communicated with us prior to, during, and following our stay. Top notch!
A holiday in these villas is an unforgetable experience, one that we would love to repeat! -

Villa Agung Khalia is one of the best places I have ever stayed. I haven't got one complaint about the place. It was absolutely perfect!
We sent an e-mail through the Agung Khalia website & got a very prompt reply from Darren (the owner) & it was all booked really quickly & easily. We were met at the airport by Agung who drove us to the villa. When we arrived at the villa, we couldn't believe our eyes. It was stunning, set in peaceful rice paddy's with beautiful views. When we got in the villa, we were again amazed. The villa is huge & spaceous has has everything you could need.
Agung & his staff were very friendly & helpful, even offering us a mobile phone to use whilst we were there! Agung took us around Ubud & the surrounding areas & was happy to answer any questions we had & advising us on the best places to go. There was wireless internet at the hotel but we didn't have a laptop with us - no problem, Agung lent us one! The service we received here was fantastic.
The pool at the villa was a perfect size & it was lovely to sit round & relax in the peaceful surroundings before or after a day exploring the surrounding areas.
We would like to thank everyone at Villa Agung Khalia for a fantastic stay & we look forward to returning in the future.

We stayed at Villa Agung Khalia for 3 glorious weeks interspersed with trips to other sites in Bali. The villa was beautiful, spacious, intellegently designed and meticulously maintained. So quiet & peaceful, yet close to Ubud.
The staff were so friendly & helpful(food/laundry/information) & always went the extra step to make sure we got the most out of our Bali stay.
We received massages on the shaded platforms located outside the villa - either poolside or in the middle of the lotus pond. -

We were looking for a week of total relax, yet close enough to Ubud to venture if we wanted to step out. All the staff are excellent. Breakfast was included and staff and food were wonderful. Beautiful view to start the day in the main shared eating area of the complex. Was nice to have our own option of making our own meals also. Agung was wonderful in taking us to shops and letting us know where it was "safe" to eat in Ubud. Was fantastic to watch all the workers in the rice fields and the duck farmers. Just felt like HOME to us. Pool was wonderful and very private for us. It's a large enough villa that we all had our very own privacy when we wanted. Views from the upper level are breathtaking. The staff was very willing to educate on Bali culture if you were interested. Truly a magical experience.

Left on 06/18/2009 for a stay in March 2009
My son and I were overwhelmed with the beauty of
Bali and the wonderful people and culture we were
able to see in our recent visit (March 2009), but
nothing prepared us for the beauty of Villa Agung
Khalia and the kindness of our hosts. The villa is
more beautiful than the pictures on the website.
The rice fields and gardens create a wonderful and
relaxing environment. The Villa buildings are very
attractive, comfortable, and very clean. The pool
is cool, clear and refreshing. However, it will be
the people at the Villa who will make your visit
special. Every one of them made me feel
comfortable and at home in this far away place. Be
sure, this is a great place to be if you want to
see Bali and feel first hand what it is like to be
with Bali's people.
