Heavenly!
Another wonderful two weeks at Villa Mimpi enjoying peace, quiet,
beautiful gardens and Putu's big breakfasts! Everything we needed to make our holiday special was available at the villa but we could also venture out for walks amongst the ricefields, meals in the many local restaurants or massages at a dozen different spas all no more than a short walk away.
I would recommend this villa to everyone, specially those seeking a
romantic haven away from the real world.
Easy to book and great to know that the villa is exactly as advertised.
Can't wait to return to beautiful Villa Mimpi!

We stayed at Villa Mimpi between Xmas and NY and really couldn't fault it.Its a beautiful villa with gorgeous gardens and views across the rice fields. The delightful Putu was very helpful and cooked us yummy omelettes every morning as well as helping us to organise taxi's when needed.
Locals were very friendly. We were able to order takeaway meals from nearby cafes, which was an added bonus when we didn't feel like venturing out. We also had a local woman cook for us one night and deliver the meal. It was superb and really cheap considering she was feeding all 5 of us.
Kids loved the pool and being able to feed the fish in the pond.
Was concerned a little about it being 300m down a lane way. This didn't prove a problem for us and the villa supplies umbrellas and torches. Putu carried all our luggage to and fro on the back of his bike which made arriving and leaving very easy. Taxis in and out of Ubud cost $2-$3 and are much easier than walking as the road is very narrow in parts.
All in all, a delightful stay. Hope to one day revisit this very special villa.Response from PrivateUbudVillas - 04/30/2013

Villa had excellent amenities including the beautiful pool. Sun decks also came in really handy when the weather got warmer. Someone comes to clean up in the morning as well as prepare breakfast. Loved the sound system as well as the book collection! Rooms were clean and air-conditioning worked fine. Only small complaint was the poor design of the showers, the rest of the toilet would get a bit wet during the shower, but it wasn't a big issue.

Stayed with two friends for 3 days and wish we could have stayed longer, it just wasn't enough time at this beautiful villa. Loved the terrace for breakfast or just sitting watching the locals go about their daily activities. Lovely gardens and pool, bedrooms and bathrooms modern and well equipped. Had some really great walks along the pathways leading away from the villa, just exploring the country side. Even though it is down a path there are a couple of little shops very close for you to by drinks and snacks and lots of small restaurants on the main road of Penestanan. Many thanks to the wonderful Putu for making out great omelettes and cleaning up our mess everyday.
Will I stay here again, yes I am already planning my next trip and it will be for at least a week.Response from PrivateUbudVillas - 12/05/2012

Hi Vicki - So glad you enjoyed your stay at the villa - we do hope you'll be able to return and let Putu cook you omelettes again! Many thanks for your great review.

Left on 10/20/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Just back home after spending 9 days at Villa Mimpi. and would have to say that it was probably the most relaxing 9 days we have spent anywhere! The villa is fantastic. What you see in the photo's is exactly what you get...no fancy photography or staging to make the pics look better than the reality. In fact the pics dont do it justice!
The villa is spacious, beautifully furnished with wonderful Balinese furniture and decor, but with all the mod con's that you want. The garden is just beautiful. Flowers and plants with such vivid colours, and each day there was something new to discover. Loved the little pathway through the garden, felt like a little private jungle. And at night watching the fireflies was so cool.
Putu was just lovely. He made breakfast each morning, fruit and eggs scrambled or poached. Yummy!
Penestanen is a lovely little village just outside of Ubud, and the people are just lovely. Each morning as we had breakfast on the little terrace, the farmers and people working in the area always said Hello...or as they say Selamat Pagi. We loved exploring the surrounding area, from walking through the rice fields and down the little lane ways throughout the village. Everyone was welcoming and friendly and we just loved it.
There are some great warungs in the area...Bayu's Kitchen, Bubu's (ayam goram manis is to die for!), Warung Mendez and the little warung at the top of the laneway (sorry cant remember the name) all offer great food, including delivery. If you want to grab some cheap cocktails and have a few laughs, the guys at RoundBar at the road entrance are great. They have a happy hour from 4-7pm, and they are great to have a chat while having a drink at the bar or at one of the street tables watching the world go buy.
If you want some great summer dresses and shirts and not pay a fortune, but want quality still, pop into Wikan on the main road of Penestanen (head towards Ubud). Cant remember the owners name but she is lovely and fun to haggle with, as I said to her "good price for me and good price for you!".
Also if you want a really reliable, honest taxi service, go to Nyoman at the Beadworks shop, head towards Ubud and the first little shop around the first bend. The lady organises the taxi as well as owns the bead shop and she will give you a great deal on both taxi and in her shop. We used them all the time when we were going to Ubud or to the gym, and if you want a return trip just let them know time and they show up and wait for you. As I said very honest and very reliable.
If you want to indulge in massages and treatments, Eve's Spa just behind Bayu's Kitchen is the best! We went 3 times and each time we left feeling so good and relaxed and the price is great. Our last day before heading the airport we had the 4 hour spa package and I honestly dont remember ever feeling so pampered before!
As you might be able to tell, we had the best time staying at Villa Mimpi... not only was the villa just beautiful but the people around also make it perfect. We desperately needed a relaxing holiday and we couldn't have asked for anything better. The only thing I didn't like...was having to leave!
Thanks Villa Mimpi and also Steve for making the booking so easy.Response from PrivateUbudVillas - 10/29/2012

Just returned from Indonesia having spent the last week at Villa Mimpi. Bliss!
The Villa is full of Balinese character, beautiful garden, pool and an open terrace with views over the rice paddies and where one can relax and just watch the world go by.
You are near enough to the busy tourist town of Ubud with it's many restaurants (Melting Wok is a must)about a 20 min walk, but the quiet village of Penestanen has it's own restaurants, spas, art galleries.
Putu does a fantastic breakfeast fresh fruit, eggs and cleans and tidies up the villa and garden.
Yandera can collect you from the airport and take you where ever you want. He's a mine of information and good company. Try his 'Jungle trek'
Hope to return.Response from PrivateUbudVillas - 10/29/2012

We can most certainly recommend this accommodation to a couples or a family. Everything one needs is on hand, elegant comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms surrounded by tropical gardens, private pool, set on the edge of a small local village overlooking traditional rice paddies.Books, TV, DVD, compact sound system, fully equipped kitchen...all of this in tranquil peace and quiet. Even a smiling Balinese house boy to cook, clean and shop, he is only to eager to please. The Villa is on the outskirts of Ubud, just 15 minutes walk to the centre and there are also restaurants and little local shops nearby, A super market just 10 minutes away. Hire a bicycle or as we did a little motorbike and everything is within 5 minutes. This accommodation is fantastic value for money and will certainly make your stay in Villa Mimpi a memorable one. We will most certainly return.

Villa Mimpi was a very nice place to stay at indeed.
Everything is just as it is in the pictures and we enjoyed our stay there. The little garden was very nice with beautiful plants and flowers. There was also a good selection of Dvds to keep us entertained at night.
The only thing that was a bit worrisome was the little pathway leading to the villa. It's a bit dark at night and because the villa is right at the end (it opens up to beautiful rice patties in the morning and is a wonderful sight to behold) it was a bit scary for me to walk alone by myself at night. Also, it would have be better if there were mosquito nettings in the sleeping area. I'm a mosquito magnet! Otherwise, a great stay with a lovely host. The food at the restaurant was also very good.Response from PrivateUbudVillas - 09/08/2012

We're very happy you enjoyed your stay at Villa Mimpi, and thank you for your review. If you come again you don't have to be fearful walking the path at night - take one of the small LED pocket torches provided when you go out - and be happy to know that the local men sitting along the laneway are the security for various villas! The walk is well worth the view from the terrace overlooking the ricefields! Hope you can visit us in the future.

Villa Mimpi was going to have a lot to live up to. We had just left a magnificent Villa in Kuta, and so our next Villa was going to be under extreme scrutiny.
So what was the result? The owner of Villa Mimpi has a lot to answer for - we loved Villa Mimpi so much that we forgot to see Ubud. After leaving Ubud our driver asked us "Did you see the Palace?" Nup. "Did you see the traditional market?" Nup. "How about the monkey forest" Nup.
The fact of the matter is that I find it difficult to relax, but I managed to relax at Mimpi. The pool is great, the sun lounges are relaxing, there are Dvds provided, the kitchen area is so convenient, and there is a great elevated lounge area overlooking a rice paddy where I spent hours reading my book, sipping a bintang.
Even our teenage daughter was happy to just relax at the Villa - we offered her some tours, but nup, happy to relax.
There is even a washing machine you can take advantage of to save having to send your laundry out.
Each morning a young lad named Putu comes to prepare your breakfast - he's very friendly and does a great job.
So what else to do in the vicinity?
We spent time wandering the small winding paths which reveal all sorts of interesting eating places. One of those paths leads you to the Bintang Supermarket where there is also a great Warung for having very cheap and delicious Nasi Campur.
Warung Mendez is close by the Villa and on Thursday nights has a BBQ goat leg that can not be missed.
We had two dinners in the Villa - a local lady cooks for you for 30,000 IDR per person and the food is delicious. You'll find her details in the info booklet in the Villa.
As you walk the path to and from the Villa the locals wave and say hello which is nice.
And for the one tour we did - we walked up to the nearby Hotel D'Omah and they were happy to book it for us.
If you are concerned at being away from Ubud centre, you need not be. There are lots of eating places near the Villa, and in my opinion it's a much nicer area than the touristy and traffic clogged Ubud centre.
So do yourself a favour and spend some time relaxing at Villa Mimpi - and make sure you allow enough time to really unwind.Response from PrivateUbudVillas - 07/26/2012

We are so delighted that you found the true essence of Villa Mimpi - a place to relax and un-wind from life on the 'outside'. You even discovered the small winding back path to our favourite warung Makan-Makan close by Bintang Supermarket!

We live in a world of words but I cannot find one to describe the peace and tranquillity we experienced at Villa Mimpi. It is truly a splendid haven, clearly built and furnished with thought and love. The birds, butterflies, gekko"s and dragonflies busy in the garden were a constant delight to watch and our interaction with the locals from the terrace was an experience we will never forget.
The Villa was serviced by a wonderful young man Putu who was willing to help us with everything we required or asked of him.

Left on 05/11/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We literally just returned from our stay at Villa Mimpi. This villa is located in the village of Penastanan, about a 10-15minute walk to the main street in Ubud. For someone who doesn't cope with too much relaxing, I was a total convert - I didn't want to leave the villa at all! Wi-fi was fantastic, the private pool was welcoming, the private terrace overlooking the paddy fields wonderful, the rooms were beautifully made up and comfortable and the bathrooms the perfect mixture of Balinese decor but modern conveniences. There was a good selection of Dvds for us to watch (my husband did) and local warungs to deliver food. We also asked a lovely local lady called Made to cook us homecooked meals for us which she delivered to the villa (details in the Villa's 'handbook'). Air-conditioning was available in the bedrooms, but I didn't need it.
Our idea of Ubud was paddy fields, a slow pace, being somewhat secluded and Villa Mimpi offered all that and more. Penastanan is a nice village with enough facilities to not feel like Robinson Crusoe. And the walk to the villa that someone highlighted as a negative - I actually really liked it!
As a final note for anyone going with young kids. The pool is unfenced and there is only a small bit (maybe 1/5th of the pool) that is shallow enough for a young child to play 'safely'. This was not an issue for us. The kids knew not to jump in and our 4 year old, who is not a proficient swimmer seemed happy enough to play in the shallow end.
All in all, a fantastic villa and we'd highly recommend this place!Response from PrivateUbudVillas - 05/21/2012

Equipped with everything that you need for a comfortable, relaxed stay.
Located at the end of the service road next to a rice paddy, the villa provides us with a quiet stay with lots of privacy. The viewing platform which overlooks the rice paddies provides a place for us to relax with a magnificant view.
Putu, the house boy, really makes our day every morning with his bright smile when he comes over to make us breakfast.
Something which we did not like was the dark, uneven service road and the lack of signage to the exact location of the villa.

Sadly our time at Villa Mimpicomes to an end today but we will continue our sojourn on a beach somewhere in australia. Villa Mimpi was truly paradise in paradise! Putu served a beautiful breakfast of our choosing each day and the Balanese people in the village were always more than happy to help us whenever we were in search of an adventure or a quiet walk.
The wet season has lingered longer than usual this year we were told but everyone is confident that with Nyepi, the wet will give way to the dry for another year. Villa Mimpi is well appointed to handle the tropical Balanese environment. We particularly enjoyed sitting out on the rice paddy terrace enjoying breakfast, afternoon nibbles and evening meals. The private pool is a welcome reprieve we enjoyed several times each day.

BrisbaneVilla Mimpi, my ideal holiday!
Left on 02/26/2012 for a stay in February 2012
I have recently returned from my second visit to Villa Mimpi! Having just stayed 9 nights, and previously staying 10 nights, the most disappointing part of my holiday was the day I needed to leave! Villa Mimpi is nothing but a beautiful, peaceful and tranquil getaway and I would be perfectly happy if my whole holiday was spent within the confides of this Villa of dreams! Every single aspect of my stay was perfect. Putu, the lovely houseboy, was incredible! He was meticulous with making sure the Villa was as fresh looking each and every day of as stay as it was the day we arrived! He was only too happy to assist with any questions or requests we may have had and his omelettes were delicious! The sweetest thing of all was on Valentine's Day when after we enjoyed our yummy breakfast, Putu presented each of us with a single red rose! I could tell it made his day as much as it made ours! If i was asked what the best part about my holidays to Villa Mimpi were, I would struggle to answer. Each aspect of the Villa is gorgeous and holidaying here allows me to unwind from a busy western life! I'm having withdrawals already and I will most definitely be returning to visit for a third time! A million thank you's for another wonderful holiday!!!

Have just returned from our second visit to Villa Mimpi. This location suits us to a tee!! You are able to do as little or as much as you like.
Relaxation was a prime plan for us this time and it is a perfect location to do exactly that.Sitting on the terrace watching the world go by or just reading listening to the flow of the water.
Many long hours were spent enjoying the awesome pool both day and night. The pool lighting during the evenings is spectacular!
Putu, our house boy is a true gem. To see his smiling face every morning was great. Nothing was ever a problem to him.We really enjoyed the fantastic eggs he prepared for us each morning which were cooked however we requested.
Everything in the Villa has been very tastefully designed and it is a pleasure to relax there.Feels so comfortable.
Many places to eat close by and we loved visiting Eve's Spa which is a short walk away.
Without a doubt we will visit Villa Mimpi again ! -

Our stay at Villa Mimpi was a highlight of our time in Bali. We loved the exquisite furnishings and open-plan style of the villa, which opens out onto a beautiful garden and swimming pool, perfect for relaxing on hot Bali afternoons. The centre of Ubud, with all its shops and restaurants, is just a short walk away yet the villa has just the right amount of privacy and seclusion. A favourite was the viewing platform where we were served a delicious breakfast each morning whilst we enjoyed the view over the rice paddies. The bathrooms also deserve a special mention; they are beautifully designed and the showers are fantastic! This is the perfect accommodation for a stay in Ubud. There is not much to add that hasn't been described already, other than to suggest that Villa Mimpi probably has the best bathrooms in Bali. Shower heads as large as dinner plates over mosaic pebble floors is not something you see everyday in South East asia. This place needs to be experienced to be believed. Villa Mimpi is absolutely stunning. The accommodation itself is immaculate and very tastefully put together. It provides the perfect balance between complete privacy, with perfectly secluded rooms and pool; and being able to watch the world go by on the beautiful viewing platform that overlooks the rice paddies.
The location is highly convenient, a short walk from the centre of Ubud (and many different Warungs/Restaurants), but far enough away to leave the hustle and bustle of the busy streets far behind.
I would highly recommend Villa Mimpi to anyone traveling to Bali, and would stay here again in a heartbeat! -

Left on 12/12/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We booked into heaven but then upgraded to Villa Mimpi. Situated in a quiet part of Ubud - Penestanan - Villa Mimpi was such a beautiful retreat after a long hot day sightseeing. The pool got a real workout in the heat, the living area was good, the bathroom lovely (with a walk in wardrobe/storage area) and the bed was sooo comfortable. The highlight though was the terrace where we had breakfast each morning (served by Putu the House boy). There is a great view over the rice paddy (see photos) and it was a really good opportunity to talk to the locals as they passed by.
A special thanks to Putu the House boy - who helped us on several occasions (even taking me on his bike to Ubud for shopping) and his breakfast omelette is delicious. Thank you Putu.
This is truely a fantastic Villa that would be hard to beat anywhere. Do yourselves a favour and book now.
Tip: Do the Banyan Bike Tour and dine at Bridges Restaurant in Ubud (easy walking distance). -

Left on 10/25/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Villa Mimpi Bali is the most peaceful and relaxing holiday destination.
Villa Mimpi is sparkling clean and completely fitted out for a relaxing stay. From arrival to departure my entire stay was fun and stress-free.
Each day we enjoyed a refreshing morning swim and breakfast served by helpful staff.
We took advantage of many activities around the village including spa treatments, bike riding, hiking and wandering through the rice fields.
We enjoyed the local restaurants and even had dinner brought to the Villa by a lovely local lady a few nights.
In addition to massages, shopping, swimming and eating there are charity opportunities to take part in.
There is a helpful package of information in Villa Mimpi to make sure that you don't miss any of the many activities and charitable organisations in the area.
Villa Mimpi is a perfect holiday experience. There are so many activities and foods to try I will be going again. You must stay for at least a week and go back often.

Villa Mimpi's open floor plan is luxury accommodation, incorporating Balanese art and culture in its decor. Enjoy the refreshing breeze as you sit on the terrace patio overlooking rice fields. Read a book relaxing in the garden Bale or take a swim in the pool after a walk in the village.
Villa Mimpi is a retreat from the hustle and bustle while being close to markets, shops and resturants.
I enjoyed it all, and would love staying again!

Great place to say in a wonderful and friendly village within walking distance of Ubud. Beautiful, Quiet and very private. Excellent terrace for great views over the rice fields and a good place to watch the locals. The owners have thought of everything including the free use of a local mobile phone. Also were able to change breakfast requirements to suit - one of our party needed gluten free and this was easily catered for. Used the recommended driver Yandira who took us to some amazing places and was very informative. Can't wait to visit again.

I took a week off from work in February and then again in June to stay at Villa Mimpi and it is easily the most relaxing holiday that I have ever had! Fresh fruit salad brekky, a private pool, crisp white sheets and free wifi when I needed to check on what was happening at home. I will definitely be back!

We stayed in Villa Mimpi from 10-17 July 2011. We were first impressed with the open plan living and lovely surround gardens. This villa has two well appointed bedrooms both with ensuites. The owners have gone to a great deal of trouble to make you feel welcome. The house boy Wayan was fantastic- he attended to all of our needs and is such a wonderful addition to this style of life. His cooking breakfast each morning was a bonus. Living in this villa is a must for anyone, couple or family wanting a break from city living. Each morning we had coffee on the platform that overlooks the neighbouring rice fields. Each morning we were greeted with smiles and 'salamat pagi' (good morning) from the locals on their way to work. We did a 3 day art course in our villa and this fantastic. Emi was a true delight and so helpful. Forget about cooking- 'Bayu's Kitchen' is just up the track and they are the best ever local restaurant. You really can't go wrong by spending some time in this special peace of Bali.

Villa Mimpi is like walking into a dream. We couldn't have experience the magic of Bali in a better place. From the lush beds to the beautiful decor, it is clear that a lot of thought went into incorporating the best the island has to offer. Our favorite moments were playing mancala under the pagoda and enjoying our morning coffee in the breakfast nook enjoying the daily balinese life go by. It was hard to leave but we will most certainly be back.

Villa Mimpi is a real paradise! Certainly worth the 10mn walk through the rice field to get to it : pretty landscaped garden, amazingly peaceful and ideal location with a magnificent view on rice fields, all necessities within walking distance (restaurants, spas, car rental, laundry,...), and a very house boy.
The house is in an impeccable state, wonderfully decorated as well as perfectly functional. We loved having breakfast by the pool, sunbathing on the weaved deckchairs, napping under the gazebo !
Last but not least the book with tips on the villa and recommendations of restaurants, spa,... was most helpful.
We can't wait to go back

Left on 05/03/2011 for a stay in May 2010
Villa Mimpi looks out over rural rice paddies with distant views of Ubud. There are many pleasant walks available including for the more determined walk through the fields and across bamboo bridges to Ubud. The villa is beautifully designed combining the benefits of a private secure compound with a shady garden and pool with an external seating and viewing platform. The two airconditioned ensuite double bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and private. While the open sided Bali style lounge/dining/kitchen is a delghtful departure from the more formal western styling used in so many villas. The pool was well designed and positioned being immediately adjacent to the living areas. It would be difficult to think of any improvements. A perfect holiday location.

Our stay at Villa Mimpi was absolutely delightful in every repsect. It is a serene, peaceful, aesthetic, patch of paradise in Bali, away from the noise and bustle of Ubud yet only a 20 minute walk or ten minute bike ride into Ubud. The views across the rice paddies from the elevated terrace gave us a real feel for the life and beauty of rural Bali. The tropical garden with pool, and open living area give a feeling of spaciousness and connection to the outdoors. I would highly recommend Villa Mimpi to anyone who loves beauty, serenity, and who is looking for a delightful Balinese villa holiday.

Villa Mimpi was an amazing space, giving us luxury, privacy, perfect peace and the opportunity to live in harmony with the people who live in this beautiful land.
The best parts of our experience were the ease of transfer from flight to the villa (perhaps a late night arrival might be a little bewildering for a new visitor to Bali) by Yan Dari your trusted driver, the wonderful service provided by your houseboy (loved the breakfast) and the tranquil setting of the villa, pool, garden which is magically blended into one space. Thanks for the information booklet and the tips therin.
The local Warang's (restaurants) were amazing, particularly when they delivered, and the 'terrace where we had breakfast and afternoon drinkies gave us all the entertainment we needed with the community walking and riding past as they went about their working day.
Thanks for the many Dvd's too.
All together a magical place, thanks for the experience. -

Villa Mimpi is a most beautiful Villa in rural Bali, away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, yet close enough to walk, cycle, or commute by vehicle into Ubud and surrounding villages, and the rural country-side. The serenity and shear beauty of the tropical garden; the view from the terrace over-looking rice paddies; the spacious open living area and pool; Balinese decor, furnishings and garden sculptures all contribute to the beauty and relaxing atmosphere of the Villa. The staff were exceptionally polite, gracious, and bent over backwards to provide anything we needed. The standard of room service was also excellent. I could have stayed there forever! I highly recommend this Villa to everyone, and will be recommending it to all my friends and relatives.

Villa Mimpi is a dream. I want to build a house at home and reproduce the beauty, harmony and balance this beautiful villa presents. Some days we did not want to go anywhere because we were so happy to just be here.So new and clean - so delightfully furnished and our "butler" was so helpful and friendly. Great breakfast, charming gardens. I could live here in villa and be very happy. The Balinese culture is one of peace harmony and balance and everyone we have met has re-inforced this.At the end of the day my face aches (in a nice way) from smiling and laughing so much., I hope I can return very soon and enjoy another visit to Villa Mimpi and Ubud.. Downside - can't think of any at the moment.

This was my 4th trip to Ubud, but the first in the area of Penestanan. Villa Mimpi is tucked away in a shady spot surrounded by rice paddies. To sit out on the terrace eating a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, fresh bread & a cooked breakfast if desired, whilst taking in the visual treat of watching the rice grow daily, the water system changing & the endless movement of workers & bikes below you, is one of the most relaxing holidays I know.
One of the important things for me was being able to use my new iPhone, in readiness for a longer European trip. The internet (wifi) was excellent & strong - I was able to skype without any interuptions. The only minus I could imagine for some folks was the 300 metre walk to the main road - for me that was part of the charm & feeling of being 'out of the way'. There was always something to see & locals to greet. The walks around the rice paddies are clearly marked on the map & are a must if you want to immerse yourself in the 'real Bali' life. Good cheap restaurants & beauty parlours abound. How can you go past an hour's massage at Eve's for just $8! The pool was perfect to cool off in with plenty of ledge room for a Bintang beer! - Heaven!!! -

Left on 04/04/2011 for a stay in February 2011
The villa was everything that was promised. The facilities were on the whole supberb as regards the bedrooms, ensuite amenities, kitchen, living area, and of course the beautiful deck overlooking the rice fields. The young man who cooked our breakfast and cleaned was efficient and charming. In fact we had wo young men as they were in a state of transition and they both were equally accommodating. There was supposed to be w-ifi and at times there was but it was extremely sporadic in the 12 days we were there, and expect that it has been remedied now. It would have been nice to have had cable TV but that is something that most people who come to this kind of setting are anxious to escape so for many this would be a non issue. We were extremely pleased with the Villa Mimpi and would highly recommend it to anyone holidaying in the Ubud area and would not hesitate to return.

We met friends here to start a few weeks in Bali. We didn't want to leave. Wake up to incredible breakfast, walk into markets, beers in the pool, dinner delivered...
Have been to Bali many times, stayed many places, and this is the best Villa we have come across by far. The attention to detail you see here is not something you will get often in Bali. Very secluded, private and quiet. Highly recommended...

The service was wonderful, from being picked up at the airport and taken to Villa Mimpi (arranged by taxi previously) to being returned to the airport at the end of our stay. The home I loved, the fact that I could sleep with the doors wide open to the garden and pool and eating and cooking with no walls to spoil the view and it was so private. The fact that I could lock the gates and just be, in peace and safety. To sit out on the rice paddy viewing platform platform and watch the antics of the ducks, and watch how the locals lived their lives, to have so many people smile and say hello...To be able to walk everywhere, loved the little paths that linked up the communities it is only a short walk to many and varied restaurants, a nice walk to the supermarket, not far from the centre of Ubud and entertainment. Great to be able to go to a different restaurant every day and not expensive, great to be able to have a pedicure or manicure or massage just a short walk away.. If you didn't feel like walking it was only a short walk to a taxi . I loved the fact that we could walk from village to village down these little paths and there is so many wonderful art galleries to be seen. Gee what did I like the best about villa Mimpi, loved the feeling of being in another world when you closed the gates and least of all was the fact that I was only there for 2 weeks.

Absolutely perfect choice for our second honeymoon! We could retire privately behind the villa walls and shut the world out, or throw open the terrace doors and watch village life being played out around the rice fields in front of us.
Daily service was excellent and discreet, everything we needed was provided and the fresh fruit and eggs for breakfast were delicious.
Highly recommend this villa for a romantic getaway. -

From the moment you walk through the traditional gates and see before you the sparkling pool, beautiful open living Balinese style villa, and lush gardens you know you are "home". The villa is beautifully furnished with locally crafted furniture and paintings by local artists. Lying in the Bali thatched hut beside the fishpool is highly recommended, but the " piece de resistance" is the rice viewing terrace, where you can relax and reflect on life Bali style as it transpires around you. The rice fields in all their stages of growth, or when they are flooded and reflect the world around them, have a magical appeal to the senses. The owners of Villa Mimpi have created a haven of peace and beauty. We love Villa Mimpi!!

I have stayed there a number of times whilst in Ubud and would certainly go back - it is my favourite place to stay.

Brisbane AustraliaA Hidden Tropical Paradise
Left on 03/11/2011 for a stay in November 2010
Villa Mimpi is a magical oasis in the artists' village of Penestanan just a few minutes taxi ride or 20 minutes walk from Ubud. Everything about the villa exudes tropical luxury from the lush gardens to the recycled wooden carved furniture, the large sparkling pool just a step down from the open living area and the thatched gazebo with its primitive carvings. Best of all is the large terrace accessed through antique carved doors which perches above the rice fields - a perfect place to eat breakfast or we loved to just sit in the evenings as the sun set and watch the people return home after a busy day in the fields
a roomboy services the villa every day, starting by preparing a generous breakfast of fresh fruit, eggs, coffee etc - then he makes the beds, cleans the house, vacuums the pool and sweeps the lawn!
There is a laundry with large automatic washing machine, a western style kitchen with a convection microwave and gas cooktop , Everything we needed was provided - unlimited drinking water so we didn't have to buy endless plastic bottles, pool towels - you name it, they'd thought of it.
We travelled with friends and this villa is ideal for two couples or friends - the beds in the second bedroom can be either two singles or zipped together to make a king-sized bed. I'm planning on returning one day soon (I hope) and having a "girls" holiday - all those spas, beauty treatments and art galleries are just calling...
