Description from the owner

Down a quite lane among the rice fields, under the palm trees is our Balinese home, a secret haven. Split over 3 levels, pool and tropical gardens up to wooden deck which offers amazing volcanoe views probably the best in Penestanan kelod.

Having worked in Bali for 11 years, the aspects of Balinese living that first caught our imagination remains in our thinking and our home reflects this, with fan cooled rooms, open dining/living areas, daybeds and bamboo blinds.

Vistors have remarked on the Swiss family Robinson feel to the recently added decks, both which offer lovely views of the rice fields and surrounding volcanoes, ideal spo...Read more

Sally love your beautiful home in Bali thank you for sharing it. Have stayed in many villas in Ubud and would have to say villa Intui is my favorite, would love to return one day. Miss my daily talks with Putu he is such a pleasure to spent time with and loved that he would come every day to do offerings,Putu takes such pride in looking after your villa and always happy when his working. Most days we had Balinese friends come and they all felt very comfortable at villa Intui. You have the best pool in Ubud, have never been able to swim first thing in the morning but did most mornings. As you know last year was a sad time for me in Bali, was so nice to return and enjoy time with our friends in your villa. Suksma Sally.

Nice Villa but not during the wet season!

Left on 01/19/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We stayed at Villa Intui early January, which is the wet season so this review is based on such weather condition - wet and very hot humide. The villa itself is very pleasant and comfortable to stay, however the location might not be ideal for young children under 5 yrs of age.

To get to the villa from the main road, you have to walk down a narrow, uneven pathway, dodging motor bikes and workers wheeling heavy wheelbarrows. It is not a problem if the weather is dry but when we were there, it was torrential rain daily, so navigating the narrow path with a baby in arms, dodging puddles of water, motor bikes and other people was a nightmare especially at night when you also have to manage an umbrella as well as a torch because the path was very dark.

The upstairs apartment is the nicest of the two and has a good wifi reception and a great view of the garden from the front balcony and a lovely view of the rice field from the back window and verandah. It's nicely and comfortably furnished. Filtered drinking water was provided.

The downstairs bedroom was a bit dark with the windows all covered up, it's time to replace the bed with a new mattress and mosquitoes' net like the ones upstairs. On my first night, I was bitten alive by mosquitoes because 1) the net had a few holes in it 2) the net material was too thick for the breeze from the fan to penetrate so you had to leave the net open at one end to let the breeze in. However the wonderful Putu, solved the problem by swapping it with a lighter mosquitoes net from a day bed upstairs. Also the wifi does not work downstairs.

Even with the bad weather, we managed to use the pool frequently to cool ourselves. It's a great size pool, clean and perfectly set in the beautiful garden.

I can imagine this villa would be a very pleasant place to stay had the weather been better. It was great welcoming gesture to find milk, coffee, tea and fresh fruits organised on our arrival. But what made our stay pleasant despite the weather was the kind and helpful service provided by Putu. He made sure we were comfortable, and whenever there was a problem he was very willing to solve it successfully. Putu is also very knowledgeable about the area and gave us a many good suggestions where to eat, supermarket, ATM etc... he always putting himself out to make sure that we were ok. He kept the villa clean and well serviced.

I was also very impressed with the whole process of making reservation, Sally was very quick with her replies and confirmation.

I would recommend this property during the dry season.

      Hi Isabelle,
Thank you for review, i understand that Bali isnt that great in the rainy season Jan-Feb but nowhere is pleasant in the rain when you are on holiday and when it rains in Bali it really rains.
Wifi in a 3rd world country isnt great all of the time, we have a top range
provider and the conection has to be on the top of the roof. I cant see that it is too much of a problem to use the upstairs for wifi as thats where the desk is situated.
Regarding the downstairs room, it would seem dark on a wet rainy day,
however on hot sunny days its a great place to retreat to as its lovely and cool. I was unaware of the mosquito net and the mattress and will instruct Putu to purchase new.
I feel that really it was the weather that let you down, not our villa and hope that you come back and stay again in the dry season.
      Kind Regards,
      Sally

      Look no further

Left on 11/16/2012 for a stay in October 2012

From the very first email I received from Sally to the day we waved goodbye to Putu our experience with not only organising our stay at Villa Intui but actually being there was faultless.

Having never been to Bali before Sally was so increadiby helpfull and was always so promt in answering my many questions and gave us a lot of advise and suggestions which made our trip run so much more smoothly.

My husband, daughter (14yrs) , son (12yrs) and myself arrived in the evening and were picked up from the airport by Basuki who drove us to Penestanan where we were greeted by Putu on a motorbike. Basuki stayed with our luggage while Putu loaded up our suitcases a couple at a time (some were very heavy as we had taken a lot of clothes with us for Putu to give to people in his village that could use them) and after pointing us in the right direction down the path that would lead to the villa headed off on his motorbike to take our luggage while we started the walk down the path. On his way back again from another load he directed us to the villa. (I will just comment here that if you are arriving in the evening make sure you pack a flash light in your hand luggage as we didnt have one and the path is quite dark and not very wide so it would have been nice to have had a torch handy). The pathway seemed quite long that evening, but in the light of day you soon realise it is a lovely stroll to the main road and you get to talk with the locals along the way, and feel a part of the day to day activities along the path - everyone is so friendly we came to really look forward to the walk.

After Putu had given us a tour of the villa, made sure we had everything we needed, and had lite some mossie coils he left us to settle in.

The villa is amazing (the photos dont do it justice) our kids shared the ground floor bedroom so they had easy access to the pool where they had a bathroom of their own and a kitchen that we used most of the time as it was easily accessible from the pool area and lounge areas downstairs. My husband and I shared the upstairs bedroom where which has a fantastic covered balcony off from it with a writting desk, day bed and table and chairs that overlooks the pool, garden area and lots of palm trees along the pathway. This was our faviourite place at the end of the day to sit and talk, watch a movie or just watch the world go by.

Im not a huge lover of pools as I get so cold, but this pool is made from natural stone and is one of the nicest looking pools I have ever seen, and the water was perfect (cool enough to cool off but not too cold that you didnt want to stay in for more that a couple of minutes!!!

As I have said, the walk along the path was a lovely experience, and we really miss our daily walks along it.

As for Putu, well, he is definately the icing on the cake. He could not be more friendly or helpfull and we all really looked forward to seeing him every day. He loves to share his knowledge of Bali and their way of life and will sit for hours talking to you about it. One day I told Putu I wanted to go on a bike ride tour - Putu offered to organise the hire of bikes himself and we went on a brilliant ride with him through the streets of Ubud and down a beautiful track that wound its way past rice fields and led to an amazing cafe you just have to try called Sari Organik (it would also be a lovely walk along the track as well) where we all stopped for lunch.

In the evenings we would just head out along the pathway or to the main road choose somewhere to eat. If the kids were really tired (we were out most days exploring the area) we would simply organise something (usually pizza) to be delivered to the villa.

Putu gave us a mobile phone to use while we were there which we just had to top up credit which was a blessing as I had a lot of trouble getting my phone to work in Bali. He had programmed his and Basuki's phone numbers in there so you felt very safe and secure knowing you could contact one of them if you needed to.

If you were wanting somewhere to stay that you werent going to have to interact with anyone and just wanted time to be alone to relax then please dont be put off by what I have written about the amount of time we spent talking to Putu, just let Sally know that you would prefer to have a lot of time to yourself and Putu would simply come in each day to do what he needs to do, make sure you have everything you require and leave you to it.

We would not hesitate to stay at Villa Intui on our next trip to Bali, it is so easy to get to everything from its location, but far enough away to allow you to really feel you are a part of the 'real' Bali

Our biggest thanks again to Sally and Putu for making our first trip to Bali a wonderful family holiday that we will never forget.

      Fantastic Villa

Left on 10/08/2012 for a stay in October 2012

All of our dealings with Villa Intui went so smoothly, with Sally providing some great information prior to our arrival, and Putu doing whatever he could to make our stay enjoyable. A lovely roomy villa with great spaces for the four of us (2 adults and kids aged 10 & 12) to hang out and each do our own thing - our son loved watching dvds on the tv, our daughter hung out and made use of the wifi and I loved sitting in the comfy window seat overlooking the rice fields and reading. We all really enjoyed the lovely pool and it was a great spot to cool down after being out and about in Ubud. Beds were really comfy and everything was super clean. Putu was brilliant, it was lovely to chat with him about the Balinese way of life and he arranged a yummy breakfast for us one morning from a local warung which was delicious! The fresh fruit, bikkies and tea and coffee were a lovely touch on our arrival, too. The location was great, an easy, mostly downhill walk to Ubud or we often caught a taxi from the corner shop, just 30,000idr to Ubud centre. We ate a couple of times at the Roundbar near the villa, very funky place and great for brekky. We really enjoyed the walk thru the ricefields past other villas to Villa Intui, kids enjoyed watching the ducklings playing in the water channels and we all enjoyed practising our Bahasa greetings to everyone we passed. A little shop near the villa was great for stocking up on soft drinks, Bintang and snacks - only a couple of hundred metres away. A great place to relax, Villa Intui was perfect for our family of four but would be excellent for two couples or families travelling together. We would definitely recommend this Villa for those wanting relaxation and privacy on the doorstep of bustling Ubud. My only very small gripe would be to maybe include Putu's number on the rental agreement, as I had this with me but not the Paypal receipt that had the number on - my fault and easily rectified with access to wifi to view the receipt, but I had assumed it was on the agreement I had included in our travel docs. We had a bit of trouble finding the villa on our arrival without the number as it can't be seen from the road.

Our little oasis amongst the rice fields

Left on 09/27/2012 for a stay in September 2012

A little paradise in Penestanan, only an easy 20min stroll into Ubud. We loved it so much that we extended out stay from 7-10 days. My kids(10&7) had an absolute ball. They enjoyed swimming, building cubby houses on the 2 decks, catching tadpoles, spotting fireflies in the rice fields, reading/playing their ipods on the daybeds, visiting the local Hindu temple during a ceremony, calling out 'Pagi' or 'Apa Kabar?' to all the friendly locals or 'Jalan-jalan'(just walking) to the many taxi drivers who wanted to give us a lift, watching Putu make his daily offerings, zooming around Ubud on the back of Putu's scooter (their highlight was riding thro the Monkey Forest). I loved my own little yoga retreat on the top deck. The beds were very comfy altho their was no internal access to the bedrooms (1 up,1 down) & the kids got a bit scared sleeping on their own, so there was alot of bed and daybed hopping. Villa very well equipped, very clean & nice Balinese furnishings. Beautiful tropical garden, good size pool (no pool fence, so not recommended for wee ones to stay here), very private. Sally made it easy from the start to book our stay & always responded to my many ?'s promptly. Gentle Putu was awesome, the kids adored him (Taj just wanted to hangout with his lovely family in the kite shop all day), he always went out of his way to please us. Thank u Bazuki for driving safely down the potholed, narrow, rickety bamboo bridge, cliff hugging amed Coast. Excellent, v.cheap laundry mat down the pathway. Nice, cheap warung next door to laundry. A few local rest/cafe & 100's in Ubud. Our faves-Naughty Nuri's, Ibu Oka, Casa Luna, Dirty Duck (our splurge on Smoked Duck) & lots of Warungs tucked away down alleyways. Bintang Supermarket $3-4 taxi ride, good for last min. souvenirs or when you're tired of haggling prices at local market (sometimes cheaper or I am not so good at bartering!). I highly recommend Villa Intui & will definitely return, hopefully very soon.

We had such a great time at Villa Intui last time - we just had to come back. Basuki the driver was waiting for us at the airport and whisked us away for the trip to Ubud. The villa feels like a home from home and we felt relaxed and comfortable from the first minute we got there. All the amenities are great, everything works and of course there's that amazing infinity pool.Putu the villa manager looked after us so well - he even arranged a motorbike for us from the second day. Nothing is too much problem to Putu ! Thanks again - we'll be back !

A very sweet Villa tucked away down a quiet pedestrian path, among the rice paddies. On arrival we were met my friendly Putu, who took care of us during our stay at Intui! He settled us in on arrival& made us delicious breakfasts:) He answered all our questions and set us up for our Bali trip!
The villa is very spacious, with pretty Balinese styled decor! The garden is a delight with a good size pool!
It was only a 10 minute walk into town. I liked having the privacy of the villa, tucked away in the calm area but having the option to be in the hustle and bustle which was round the corner! Best of both worlds:)
Would definately stay here again, highly recommend!

      A hidden Oasis!

Left on 07/24/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Intui, with its tropical garden, refreshing rock pool and ample lounge and living spaces to sprawl out and relax in.
A hidden Oasis; the villa is tucked away amongst the rice paddies and we enjoyed watching the local villagers go about their daily tasks from one of the various day beds or balconies.
Despite feeling far away from everything, the villa is walking distance to great local restaurants/ warungs around the lovely Penestanan area which is a little quieter than Ubud(check out Yellow Flower on a Sunday for a delicious Balinese buffet dinner!). It's also close to some great rice paddy walks (along the ridge behind the Tjampuhan temple and along to Sari Organic cafe) and it wasn't far from Ubud centre whenever we wanted a dose of action and more great restaurants - Casa Luna and Indus are favourites. I also liked being so close to Cantika spa in Penestanan - my favourite for traditional balinese massages and all natural beauty treatments!
My partner loved zooming through the rice paddies on the scooter to get to the villa, but I still prefered to wander through on foot and take in the surrounding village sights and sounds - especially the ducks and children flying kites!
The rooms were nicely furnished in lovely Balinese furniture, very clean and spacious - we had everything we needed and more. The rooftop deck served as my personal yoga space which was pretty special too.
Putu was wonderful in making us feel settled and safe, and we enjoyed our daily chats with him about Balinese life. Admittedly, we felt a little greedy as the house is much too big for just two people - so we will definitely be coming back with friends next time.
We can't fault any part of the Villa or the service we received - right from the booking stage and all during our stay. A big thanks to both Sally & Putu :)

My sister and I on the top deck! Pete exploring the rice paddies right outside the villa!

      Baik Sekali - "Excellent"

Left on 06/25/2012 for a stay in June 2012

If you want to have a holiday where you get an insight into Balinese village life, including some very traditional rice padi farming, then Penestanen is the place. Villa Intui had everything we could have wished for. The downstairs apartment was convenient for our older friend who has difficulty with stairs, and our upstairs apartment and balconies was as described and pictured on the website.
But it was the people and the daily life around us that made our stay amazing. We watched rice being harvested, then ducklings being agisted on the cleared padi. There were several houses under construction, and we watched all of the materials being ferried past our villa via shoulders, motorbike and wheelbarrow convoys. The owner of the closest house under construction was very happy to invite us in for a close look at the construction methods and a coffee and chat.
Our breakfast (brought in each morning by Made) was brilliant - recommend the omelette, and the banana pancakes. Sensational fruit, as well as toast. Our laundry was collected and dropped off by Wayan from Ricamalusa's laundry - great rates. And ladies, don't go past the D'Omah Spa - you walk right past it - my friend and I had a wonderful massage and pedicure there. In fact, I think because we made the effort to spread our business across all of the little warungs and services up and down the path, by the end of the week, it took us 10 minutes longer to do the walk as we had to stop and have a little chat with everyone along the way. Beautiful people. We ate several times at the new little cafe right at the top of the walkway as well. Good food.
My favourite time was watching the sun rise behind Mt agung from the upstairs balcony, and having a coffee as I watched the locals start their day. There was always something to see. I also loved the geckos, frogs and lizards that shared the villa with us. Leave your alarm clock at home - the hundreds of roosters in the valley do an excellent job with early morning wakeups! (although you tended to not notice them much after the first day).
Finally, Putu, the manager, made us very welcome, and was very happy to answer our endless questions about Hindu culture, the local customs and ceremonies, plants, animals, and village lifestyle. His beautiful ceremonies when he placed offerings around the villa were spellbinding to watch. He is a lovely person, and was very conscious of our comfort and enjoyment of the villa. He met us at the top of the path when we arrived, and took all of our luggage down on his motorbike. Too easy.
Don't let the walk to the villa from the road put you off - with the healthy local diet and the walking I lost 2kg in a week!! We are not motorbike people - but that is the mode of transport to go for here if you are. If you want to do more extensive shopping for anything, jump in a taxi at the top of the path, and ask to be taken to the Bintang Supermarket - not far, very large, you can get anything there, and has the advantage of a BDR aTM that is happy to dispense R2,000,000 if you need larger amounts of cash. (Don't walk it - very dodgy narrow road with no footpaths and steep hills.)
All in all, we had a brilliant time. Recommended to anyone who wants to have a closer look at Balinese daily life.

      View of rice fields

Left on 06/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We had heard much about the rice paddies of Bali, and chose this Ubud home as it is located among rice paddies. The house has many charming features and a lovely pool. Walking in the rice paddies was an enjoyable experience. We ran into many friendly people from the local area including artists.

The upstairs bedroom is roomy and has a study/TV area in the partially covered balcony. The downstairs bedroom is smaller, and the living/dining space is in a verandah overlooking the pool.

The pool area is very pretty, and we spent much of our time there. The house is sunny and pleasant in the day. I felt the lighting could be improved to make it more cheery at night. The bathrooms are clean and spacious, with a functional decor.

The house is a 15 minute walk from the main road through a path through the rice paddies. It might make it easier if you have a motorbike/scooter rental during your stay.

Putu, the friendly caretaker organized laundry pick up and food delivery (on days we didn't go out), and it was pretty convenient. He made healthy breakfasts for us everyday, and was a rich source of information on Ubud and Bali.

Thank you for your review, Im glad you had a great time in Bali.
      Putu certainly enjoyed your stay.
In response to the lighting and i said in my email to you, we had very bright lights in the house when we first purchased it and then realised how many insects were attracted to them.
We have kept a few lights bright, kitchen and bedroom, but as we use Villa Intui as our home some of the year we certainly realise what a problem insects can be.

      Kind Regards,

Villa Intui is located in the middle of a rice paddy about 1km from Ubud main. Convenience store within 200 metres was very handy for us(Bintangs) & the kids ( lollies). Quiet & peaceful with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in and a lovely view of the volcano in the distance. Great pool and spacious surroundings & the loop walk thru the paddies was a highlight!

Villa Intui: a vacation from your vacation

Left on 05/15/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Our family of four stayed at Villa Intui for about two weeks in april/May and it was a huge factor in making our vacation a blissful experience. We've been to Ubud before (this was our 4th time) and stayed in a variety of places and this was by far the best accommodation we've ever experienced there.

Having been to Bali several times before, our main focus on this trip was relaxation. The villa was perfect for that, with a great clean pool that was not too small and many areas for lounging around during the hot afternoons. It is not accessible by car (it takes a good 5-10 minutes to walk to the villa from the parking area) but that was perfect for us, as it was very quiet and private.

Putu the manager was a huge help to us from the moment we arrived. He came twice daily to clean in the mornings and turn on the lights/mosquito coils in the evenings. He arranged for us to have breakfast delivered to the villa everyday and took care of having our laundry done, among many other things. He was very conscientious in assuring our comfort at all times. He was great with the kids and they loved to sit and chat with him, as did we.

The village of Penestanan is a bit of a trek from Ubud. We couldn't even consider walking in to town, as I had sprained my ankle severely two days before leaving for Bali, but that was not a problem, as there is a taxi service just at the top of the little road to the villa. We were very glad that we were staying outside of town, as Ubud has become a lot more developed and crowded since the last time we were there 10 years ago.

At first the walk to the villa from the parking area seemed a bit far (more so because of the ankle I'm sure), but it felt shorter every time we did it until eventually we didn't even give it a second thought. Ultimately we were glad for the walk, as we got to say hello to many of the local residents on our way in and out every day.

I would highly recommend Villa Intui!

Beautiful, relaxing escape with great service

Left on 05/05/2012 for a stay in March 2012

My stayed at Villa Intui for a week in March 2012. We were four people, from ages 3 to 65. We all had a great time, and recommend it wholeheartedly.
The house itself is very nice: attractive, clean, and well-appointed with everything we needed. The pool, landscaping, and multiple decks with village and paddy views are beautiful. It was such a great place that we often found ourselves torn between staying or going out.
Two things to be aware of: first, Bali is lush, and with all the plants and growing things come insects. While the villa is very clean, like most houses in Bali it is not airtight, so guests need to be careful with food and need to be ok with other living things around. It's a small price for the benefits of being there.
Second, the villa is outside Ubud. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the main road, and from there another 30 minute walk (or 5-10 minute taxi) to downtown Ubud. The path is a very pleasant walk and a nice way to see a bit of village life. There are two good restaurants out at the road, and more on the way into town. For us the location was good for the peace and quiet and clean air in the village... and it certainly didn't stop us from going into town when we wanted to.
Sally was very helpful before and during our stay. Her local caretaker (Putu) and driver (Basuki) were great, and made a good visit really special and memorable. We cannot say enough about Putu especially - very friendly, helpful, and just a great pleasure. We hired Basuki for airport transfers and to take us around for several days, and found him friendly, helpful, and a safe and reliable driver. Putu suggested several places to visit (all good) and occasionally accompanied us, which added a lot. (They also took us to a local hospital when my mother hurt her arm, and stayed to make sure everything was clear and we were well taken care of (which we were).
I can't recommend Villa Intui enough. We would stay there again, and have already recommended it to friends.

      Lovely holiday

Left on 04/14/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We stayed at the Villa Intui for a week over Easter 2012 with our 9 month old baby. It's very well situated among lovely rice paddies. The location couldn't be more perfect - slightly outside Ubud so you can escape from the hustle and bustle and also walk in if you want some action. We also really like Penestenan and the area is great - lots of lovely walks in jungle gorges. The house is lovely - the pool gorgeous. We found it a little hot with our baby (he got bad heat rash) so it might be worth picking the time of year if you go with a little one. I think the fans are adequate for adults but it wasn't quite cool enough for a baby in the heat. Not to let that put you off if you don't have a baby - this is a really great find of a place. Sally, the owner, was fantastically helpful in organising our stay and Putu, the house manager, was great - very friendly and helpful. I will be recommending it to friends

I can not speak highly enough of Sallys house in Ubud. We were picked up promptly at the airport by the driver that was arranged for us. We were met at the house by Putu, the manager, who looked after us during our stay, quietly and unobtrusively. The house itself is roomy, clean and tastefully decorated. Of course the highlight for us was the infinity swimming pool, where we spent a lot of our time, very refreshing when it gets a bit humid. There are 3 beautiful shaded balconies to relax in, one on the roof which gives great views of the rice fields and the volcanoes. We want to go back as soon as possible !

Left on 02/13/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Have stayed at Villa Intui for two nights along with my wife and two friends. The only thing that we regret of is that our Bali vacation was planned in advance and it was not possible to spend few more days in this gorgeous place. The villa itself is very stylish. It is designed in unique way that combines both typical elements of Bali architecture and comfort and luxury of western design. You can feel that every small detail and each element of the villa as well as garden and pool are were very carefully selected by people with very good sense of style and understanding of what a chill out place shall look like. The property is located aside of the busy center of Ubud, which helps you to fully dive inside the unique atmosphere of Bali country life. In the mean time some very nice restaurants, shops and spa centers are located within short walking distance from the villa. Sally offered great help in organizing our transfer and in providing valuable information about Ubud. We also received great support from property supervisor Putu and driver Basuki. Both gentlemen were very friendly and helpful. We are definitely looking forward to come to this wonderful place again!

It was beautiful here, even better than the pictures and description. The villa was so spacious with lots of outdoor areas to sit on 3 levels. Putu took good care of us. We can see why your guests said they didn't want to leave once they stepped in there. We felt the same! A little piece of paradise- so well equipped, lovely furnishings, not to mention the infinity pool where we spent a lot of time. We enjoyed the ambience of the house as well as the rural surroundings. The little path leading to the center of the village was picturesque, giving you a feel for daily life in Bali. It was a little uneven in places so might prove a little tricky if you were not sure-footed. It wound past rice fields and ducks as well as other homes. The village and nearby Ubud had lots of good places to eat, spas and lots to see. It was the most relaxing, restful vacation ever. We can't wait to return! Sally, thanks for being so gracious and helpful in answering our questions before the trip.

Sally was wonderful in providing clear instructions to reach the house, and it was excellent.

The house is really well maintained, with beautiful flowers growing in the garden. The near by rice fields came to life during the rainfall, and walking around them was really relaxing.

There is wifi to keep in touch, and there are a lot of movies to relax with.

Special mention for Putu, the manager who was really helpful. My parents grew very fond of him within three days, and he was really a great help and friendly to the core.

Will recommend staying at this place. Just go :)

      A Beautiful Sanctuary...

Wow, what can I say? The moment we arrived we immediately felt at home. What a beautiful place to wile away a few lazy days! Let me start with the amazing Infinity pool which creates a sense of peace and tranquility. 2 lovely bedrooms (1 up 1 down), each with it's own bathroom and kitchen. Not only does it have a great indoor/outdoor living area but also a lounge upstairs to watch your favourite dvd's or spend the evening gazing at the fantastic vista - paddy fields all around . Very private (you wouldn't know the villa is there as it is tucked away down a little side street) and a short stroll along the rice paddy fields. Ubud township is close by where you can experience some amazing little restaurants and shopping of course!
Our stay would not have been as magical though if it had not been for the amazing hospitality of Putu the property manager. Nothing was a problem for him and he was always so helpful and kind. With his great sense of humour and friendliness we all got along so well and had a lot of laughs together! We miss you Putu!
Being a travel agent I have stayed in dozens of hotels the world over and this place is really something different and special. Cannot recommend it enough. Next time in Ubud it will be the place to stay (if I can get a reservation!)

Villa Intui - What a Fabulous Villa - You won't be disappointed

Left on 10/17/2011 for a stay in August 2011

In august I had the pleasure to stay at the Villa Intui for one week. Sally was just lovely when I arranged the accomodation. She gave me many tips on good things to do while I was visiting & arranged to be picked up & dropped off at the airport for a reasonable fee.

When I arrived at the Villa, I thought Wow! Talk about a tropical oasis! Honestly, talk about value for money! To get the same quality accomodation in australia would cost you so much more. Villa Intui is my little secret that I am more than happy to share with you.

The facilities were clean, lovely & I felt spoilt. Putu would go out of his way to arrive in the morning & make breakfast, tidy up & have a chat. I felt guilty & made my bed in the morning & Putu made it clear that he was more than happy to do this & for me not to worry about it. Yummy fruit for breakfast. It was always a pleasure to speak to Putu. He would also come by in the late afternoon to turn the lights on & light some mossie coils. The pool was just lovely & the view was amazing. The Villa was right in the middle of the rice paddies & it was lovely to walk along the paths in the rice paddies. Also, the locals were lovely & friendly, always interested in who we were, where we were staying, were we having a lovely time etc. Honestly, after a week, I felt like I was settling into the neighbourhood. It was a 15 min walk into the middle of Ubud. We did a few trips & Putu arranged for Basuki to drive us to some lovely temples etc. Basuki was so lovely, & we had many giggles & laughs together.

Can I just say, Ubud is awesome.

In summary, we enjoyed our stay. I had a tear in my eye when it was time to leave. One week was just not long enough & Putu & Basuki made our stay very enjoyable & I will be back in 2012.

When we walked through the gate into Intui Villa it almost took our breath away! Big smiles all around, we instantly felt utterly privileged to have four nights here! Anyone who is lucky enough to discover Intui will only have their stay in Ubud enhanced by such comfort, authenticity, and luxurious privacy. Even more special was to have Putu's company, his interesting commentaries and assistance with anything we wanted...what a special guy! Thank you for everything Putu! The infinity pool was fabulous - and we spent many great hours lazing in it, reading and enjoying the sun. With three levels to enjoy, stunning views of the Volcanoes and paddy fields and wonderful Balinese furnishings - it couldn't have got better! Great location to the markets/restaurants and central Ubud whilst offering a peaceful sanctuary not too far away from the hustle and bustle. We will return (if we are lucky enough) again and again! We highly recommend Intui to anyone who appreciates privacy and that homely touch - perfect for families, couples and as a Photographer I couldn't think of a better place to be inspired. Truly magnificent and so reasonably priced. Belinda, New Zealand (Photos to come)

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in August 2011

My husband and I met in Bali at the midway point of his 6 month tour in afghanistan. We found Villa Intui while searching vacation homes on FlipKey for our stay in Ubud area. Villa Intui is only a short distance from Ubud in the quaint village of Penestanan. We couldn't believe our good fortune as we entered the gated grounds of this beautiful villa. We were immediately charmed by the lovely infinity pool and surrounding garden area. The home has old world character with equisitely carved wood accents and minimalist Balinese style. It is located among rice fields where you awake to the Bali sunrise and drift off to sleep to the melody of frogs and geckos. The best feature of this villa by far is the wonderful charm and caring personality of Putu, the property manager. He looked after us from the moment we arrived and we learned so much about the Balinese culture from him. We would not have had such an incredible experience had it not been for this man. Each day he catered to our needs bringing fresh fruit and making arrangements for whatever we wished to do. We are so thankful that we happened to find our Utopia at Villa Intui and our very special friend, Putu. We strongly recommend this vacation home to anyone who truly wants to experience the Bali culture at it's best.

Obviously it depends what you are looking for in some where to stay but for us this was close to perfect, away from the main bustle, in the village surrouned by rice paddies yet a reasonably quick trip to the centre of Ubud when needed. Pool and garden are amazing, bedroom very good, bathroom and kitchen aren't quite as amazing but still very functional. While the views are amazing be prepared for reasonably loud noise from the wildlife during the night. Also, you need to be aware that it's a 500m walk to the road, or a quick motor bike ride, was a nice stroll but a torch can be helpful at night time. Really great value, helpful service, I would highly recommend.

It was our good fortune to spend time at Villa Intui last year - a delightful "get away" property, restful and peaceful. We were upstairs so enjoyed the great outlook over rice fields, bush and across to the mountains... this was before the pool and deck additions.
The house is situated on the edge of the small village of Penestanan which has a small number of shops and restaurants where we ate most evening - we weren't there to cook! Easy access down to the much larger town of Ubud.
We were royally "looked after" by Putu who went the extra mile to make our Bali experience really great... highlight rides into town on the back of his motor scooter!
When required we had the services of Bousaki (a friend of Putu) who was a delightful young man, well informed on local matters and a very competent driver.
The men enjoyed numerous interesting walks; the ladies had the most fantastic massages at the house by Jro. She has a small silver shop opposite Putu's shop in Ubud where he sells great kites... I am looking at one on the wall above my computer.
We had a really wonderful holiday at Villa Intui - one which we would be very happy to repeat, any time.

I thought I had died and gone to heaven

Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in September 2010

This is not the place for those who want the luxury and services of an International hotel. Rather it is for those who want comfort, privacy, interaction with the local people,:to eat Balinese food at inexpensive cafes, and enjoy the homely atmosphere of this relaxing and charming place. The willing services of the Balinese caretaker.and a driver when needed, makes he difference between a holiday, and a never- to-be-forgotten experience.

A great place to chill out

Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in June 2011

On arrival at the airport Putu was there to greet us and help us get settled in. He also told us where we could eat locally and also in Ubud. We also had a couple of good takeaways which he recommended. We had a great time in the pool which always seemed to be the right temperature, went for walks and visited Ubud. The accommodation was great as you could always find a quiet place to read. Everybody had a great time and we didn't want to leave.

      The Perfect Bali Experience

Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in October 2010

This house is in the perfect Bali location. We had so much fun getting to the house on the motorbikes. Riding through the rice fields - what an adventure!! Of course, don't worry it you aren't keen on the idea of riding a motor bike - a gorgeous local will, no doubt, help with transport.
The house is located near enough to Ubud to be very convenient (we went out for dinner every night) and, at the same time, far enough away to feel wrapped up by the magic of Bali. The area where the house is located has a wonderful village feel with many smiling, friendly faces.
The house itself has everything you need - comfy beds, a little kitchen, a good sized bathroom, and great cushions to do some serious lounging. Everything is decorated with elegance but not over the top - just enough to make you feel right at home. Of course, the best part about the house is the fantastic swimming pool. We were in the water from dawn to dusk - and sometimes a midnight swim too. It was wonderful to be reading a book on the veranda and then, when taken by the fancy, plunge into the crystal clear water.
This house was perfect for our family and we hope to return again and again.
