Bali Thrive Retreat
Queensland, AustraliaAmazing!!
Left on 10/28/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We stayed at the Villas for one night as we could not get accommodation at the hotel in Ubud that we had booked into for 6 nights following.
We had the best night's sleep and woke up to the spectacular backdrop of Balinese jungle dropping off to rice paddies below with mist rising off them. The Villas have beautiful gardens with a gorgeous infinity pool.
The staff were attentive but unobtrusive and made the whole experience wonderful.
I wish I had known how gorgeous it is there as I would have booked for longer. I would love to take my family back and stay, but it would also be a great place for couples, a group or wedding.Response from Murni - 11/10/2012

UKMore than just a holiday...
Left on 07/05/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Over the last three years, we have stayed at Murni's Villas with family and friends four times, and each time it just seems to get better.
Obviously, the lovely villa itself, the gorgeous surroundings of the gardens and the view of the valley, the infinity pool, and the fantastic food and service from Made and all the staff, are a big part of why we keep returning.
But more than that, we feel that staying at Murni's has allowed us to experience a side of the island that is perhaps less accessible to the typical visitor to Bali. Whether this has been discussing wildlife with Su Made in Murni's Warung after an informative birding walk, a chat with Murni herself (accompanied with a durian personally selected from her garden), learning traditional Balinese dance on the balcony of the villa, or being invited to local temple ceremonies by the friends we have made here, we simply feel that we have had more than just a holiday.
We cannot recommend it highly enough.

28970Good times at Murni's
Left on 02/07/2012 for a stay in January 2012
My wife and I stayed at Murni’s Villas for the first half of our week in Bali. We stayed in a beautiful, spacious house with a very tropical feel and with a veranda that has a commanding view over terraced rice patties. We were served great Indonesian meals (one of my favorite cuisines, I admit) on our veranda by polite, eager-to-please young women. The grounds are beautiful and full of strange, exotic statues and odd buildings. There is an infinity swimming pool (I think they are called) which my wife and I swam in every day.
The only drawback is that we were a bit isolated and Murni and Jonathan happened to be in Bangkok. We would have loved to hear about Ubud and Bali direct from them, though they do have a book they wrote together about Bali, and that is available. This is a great place for honeymooners, overworked professionals and anyone else who needs to depressurize from the stress and tensions of daily life. We could get cars and drivers to take us anywhere we needed, to the volcano, to Ubud town, to beaches, to wherever.
Having visited and checked out Murni’s Houses in Ubud, just off the main shopping street, we decided to spend the last 3 nights of our pre-paid week in town where we could walk to museums, shops of every type, dance performances, Hindu temples, restaurants, etc . Murni’s was nice enough to let us change our plan without any extra expense. The house that was available was a 2-bedroom, once again very spacious and lavishly decorated, a beautiful bathroom (half inside, half outside) full of plants, and a big front porch. The Tamarind Spa across the way was splendid. My wife Suzie’s 3-hour spa session started with a rose petal foot bath, then a 75-minute massage, an exfoliation, and yogurt rub down. She comments: “After showering off, I stepped into a round bathtub of hot water floating with rose petals. I wish I had asked my husband to take a photo. I didn’t want to leave the bath, so my gentle, quiet attendant let me have my facial while in the bath. All the time there was delightful Balinese music playing.”
Back to me: We plan to go back to Ubud and we might well once again divide our time between the villa and one of the houses in town. It was a perfect vacation. We are drawn more to mountains and to local culture than we are to beaches, which tend to all be pretty much the same.Response from Murni - 02/16/2012

Thank you very much for such a detailed and glowing review of the Villas, Houses and Spa. I'm delighted that you and your wife enjoyed everything so much and that it was the perfect vacation.
It's a pity we missed each other - I hope that next time we'll be able to spend some time together.

Murni's villas are an exceptionally beautiful, peaceful and friendly place where one can completely relax and enjoy the best of Balinese hospitality.
Murni and the staff are attentive to the guest's every need, from quiet relaxation to ambitious tours of the area. The villas are located in a beautiful setting that captures the essence of Ubud and Bali, perched above rice terraces with beautiful views.
Meals are available should you wish to dine at the villa, and they are carefully prepared and cheerfully served by the staff.
Staying at Murni's is a very special experience that balances the best of the peace of the Ubud countryside and the amenities of Ubud

Canggu, BaliAmazingly tranquil and extremely comfortable

It is quite some time since I stayed at Murni's Villas although I have sometimes made short visits and not stayed overnight.
The luxurious accommodation is on a par with many other butfar more expensive villas but what impressed me the most were the personal attention from Ibu Murni and her staff and the stunning location. The villas are just a short drive north of Ubud but the climate is far cooler and the air is so fresh.I was there to work on editing a book and I can't think of a nicer environment in which to really focus and concentrate.
I mustn't forget to mention the food as this was simple but of outstanding quality.
Overall; this is great place for rest and relaxation.Response from Murni - 08/25/2011
