Description from the owner
Going 8-10 minutes north of world’s famous art destination town of Ubud lies a 4 bedrooms villa known as Villa Sebali. This 4 bedrooms villa is exactly located in Sebali village, Ubud. This village is one of Balinese villages in Ubud still with its traditional ambience. This atmosphere can be genuinely experienced through the surrounding views and neighborhood of the village itself. This private villa is surrounded by the vast rice paddies that turn lushly green right before the harvest time and brightly light yellowish color during the harvest time. Both the naturally beautiful surrounding and its neighborhood present the absolute comfort...Read more

Bustling Ubud and Villa Sebali are only ten minutes apart, but they are different worlds. The very spacious villa on the edge of the pretty, traditional village of Sebali is a luxurious haven from which to enjoy both the peace and the delights of Bali. The views from the house are of lovely rice terraces and, in the distance, spectacular Mt Agung and the dramatic mountains towards the north of the island. We have been careful to be environmentally sensitive - green - with many eco-features. The villa has a lovely garden with organically grown fruit trees and vegetables, and its own rice fields.

We spent 10 wonderful days in Villa Sebali - a beautiful and peaceful setting; and spacious, light, comfortable and well-designed house. But it was the friendly and attentive staff - the manager Dewa, housekeepers Wayan and Ngurah; cooks Ketut, Ayu and Wayan; and the gardening and security staff - who made our holiday special. Some memories - lounging by the pool with an endless supply of cool drinks, delicious meals, exquisite daily flower arrangements, organised trips and in-house massages, transport on demand into nearby Ubud for shopping, galleries and restaurants, and many interesting conversations with Dewa about Bali and its culture. We also enjoyed the walk along the ridge into Ubud, and walking through the village and local rice fields. Thank you for an outstanding holiday.

We booked this villa for a stay of 9 nights- parents, son (31), daughter (28) and friend (32) and we all wished that it would have been more...The villa is very beautiful and spacious, very well kept and tasteful decorated. Beautiful garden, lotus ponds and swimmingpool with balé. The house is situated in the small village of Sebali and surrounded by ricefields. The whole staff - from manager to cook to housekeepers and gardeners- is so nice, unbelievable. In short: it is an experience that we all will never forget!!! They were always there when needed, cooking very delicious meals, driving us to Ubud etc. , arranging restaurants for lunch, visiting shops, advising for motor rentals and trips, making up the rooms perfectly, decorating the table and beds with flowers etc. and taking care all the time. On the other hand we had the idea to live in our 'own' house and we all felt very much at ease...We all were sad to leave...it was really a once in a lifetime experience for which we are very grateful.

From pickup at the airport to our final farewell, our every comfort was considered by the wonderful staff of Villa Sebali. The suites are luxurious and totally in keeping with the country setting, with high thatched roofs, beautiful balconies and wonderful views . The garden is spectacularly landscaped. Aya and Ketuk provided delicious meals for us, and our toddler grandson was treated royally. Enjoy being close to the real Bali.

We were on a family holiday. Me, my wife and our three adult children plus two of their partners. Had come to Ubud via Cangu and Gili T and already dizzy with delight at how perfect the holiday had been. Finding Villa Sebali was either dumb luck or benevolent providence. All we we were looking for on the net was decent accommodation for seven either separately or together. Villa Sebali popped up on tripadvisor while we were in Gili. The photos looked great, the reviews very positive. We booked. Other reviews will tell you about the gorgeous garden, the huge rooms, the soothing and tasteful decor, the artwork on the walls, the garden sculptures, the open to the sky bathrooms, the perfection of the infinity pool. What I want to tell you about is Dewa, your host, and his staff. Try writing what you would want from a manager of a villa like this, a cook, a gardener, a driver, room maintenance, help with visiting attractions and getting around. Then go to Villa Sebali. You will get everything you wished for and more. Beautiful people, beautiful smiles, beautiful souls. And great cooking. Go there. You won't be disapointed.

What an amazing time we had at this absolutely wonderful piece of paradise - we had our honeymoon at Villa Sebali and took with us our adult children and 6 month old grandson. The staff looked after all of us every minute with such fabulous smiles and gentleness we were all blown away.
The meal they cooked for our arrival night which also happened to be my daughters birthday was incredible - rivalled any meal we had in any of the restaurants we visited. Highly recommended that you ask for a meal to be cooked for you at home during your stay!
The separate bedroom villas were ideal - fabulous sizes with enormous outdoor bathrooms - our honeymoon suite upstairs had 3 balconies and views straight across to Mt agung - what a spectacle. The gardens and infinity pool were magical. We also had a private gamelon performance given to us on our first night plus 3 massage therapists visit daily! How spoilt were we. Add to that the car which was available to take us wherever we wanted to go and whenever we decided to go!
We loved Villa Sebali - a true Balinese paradise - you could not wish to stay any place nicer that had everything going for it at a reasonable price for a large group.
Stay hello to everyone there from us - until we return!!! -

Left on 02/14/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We recently had the great good fortune to stay at Villa Sebali, Ubud and we loved everything about it. The house itself is located just outside Ubud and is surrounded by paddy fields and tropical vegetation, with unspoilt views to the distant sacred mountain. Villa Sebali is beautifully decorated, comfortable and immaculately kept; the staff are all delightful and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The lush garden is well equipped with loungers, sun shades and shady places to sit and relax, and the infinity swimming pool is great. All the bedroom suites are lovely, but we were particularly happy to be on the first floor in a huge, luxurious room with verandah overlooking the garden and pool, and a large indoor/outdoor bathroom/shower room.
We enjoyed delicious breakfasts which included a wide variety of tropical fruits and locally produced yoghurt and honey; light lunches of salads, cheeses and fruits; then in the evenings excellent three course dinners featuring fish, chicken and various Balinese delicacies. One evening the staff laid on a very special romantic dinner for us on the verandah, which they decorated with dozens of candles and garlands of woven grasses and flowers suspended from the rafters. The table was covered with leaves and exotic flowers and the food was utterly delicious - very spoiling!
Overall we thought Villa Sebali was the most wonderful place to stay. It was really like being in paradise -everything was perfect!â€

I loved the ambience of Villa Sebali in its beautiful position overlooking classic rice terraces. I slept like a log in the generous, comfortable bed and, in the evening, before the delicious dinners, I sang in my shower along with an accompanying bullfrog in the lotus pool. I was extraordinarily well looked after by quiet, unobtrusive, smiling staff and came home feeling I had had a very special holiday.

I have such happy memories of my stay in Villa Sebali - I feel comforted and cosseted and so safe there. Cared for by the charming, smiling and welcoming team there is nothing to other to do than to lie back and luxuriate...
e.g. struggle out of bed about 7.30 and sink onto a lounge bed next to the pool, even before I'm settled there is a smiling member of staff proffering a freshly squeezed juice, or a cup of tea. Then maybe a swim in the pool?
Next is breakfast: fresh fruit or locally made western bread, yoghurt and local honey, or an egg or pancakes or, or... and finally a "Bali coppee?" that's coffee to us but it sounds better with an Indonesian accent!
Then plan what to do for the day: a guided walk of the local temple and rice fields by the resident village artist? the elephant park? guided cycling and whitewater rafting? visit the local zoo? visit the silver markets? visit the volcano? have a massage? relax by the pool under a brolly and read, or do one of the really difficult jigsaws, and recover from breakfast?
In the evening the staff go to great efforts to present a special dinner - or your can choose what to have. They dress the part too, by wearing gorgeous silks or cotton outfits always with a flower behind the ear. It is fun as a guest to dress up a bit for dinner and makes it a lovely relaxing and elegant evening. Or you can go out for the evening to one of the excellent local restaurants 20 minutes away in Ubud.
Made and his staff give 100% attention to your needs and requests - I was really well looked after

My wife and I spent a week at the Villa Sebali with friends in March 2011. A delightful experience. The villa is on the edge of a small village with a sweeping view across vivid green rice fields sloping down to a jungly ravine. The villa is spacious and luxurious, combining modern building quality with Balinese features such as thatched roofs, and with the wonderful taste (furniture, sculpture, paintings) of the owners. It is laid out around a central garden that leads to an infinity pool. Below the pool is a water garden fed by a stream and full of lilies. Floating in the infinity pool, we could admire the flowers and trees and spy on visiting herons and chameleons. The staff at the Villa Sebali were terrific: friendly and attentive: we were fed very well indeed. To compensate for the calories we walked two or three times all the way to/from Ubud along a ridge-top trail. We also took a hosted village/jungle/rice field walk and rode bikes from the top of the volcano. And of course, there was shopping, eating out, gallery and temple visits...A wonderful, relaxing holiday. What was best about it? Beautiful location, house and garden and charming attentive staff. What was worst? No complaints whatsoever.

Villa Sebali looked good in the pictures but the reality exceeded all expectation. A beautiful house, designed in a traditional style with great attention to detail. All the bedrooms were very comfortable and well appointed, but we stayed in Sky which is very special and has a magnificent terrace overlooking the pool and garden. Great bathroom with open air shower.
The staff were delightful, and looked after us really well, always polite and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble and meals were excellent.
Loved the floral decorations which were changed daily and always looked so professional.
The pool was a joy, especially the view over the water garden below.
The villa is surrounded by rice fields, giving the impression of being in the countryside but in reality Ubud is not far away and has some interesting places to visit and good shopping if required.
We had some serious rain during our visit which curtailed sighseeing. However the villa is well equipped with plenty to do even on a wet day and lots of comfortable places in which to curl up and read or just relax
What's not to like? We hope to return. -

How does one describe Paradise? I stayed at Villa Sebali in January 2008 and January 2009 and hope to stay again.
Starting with the ambience: one is greeted by a view of the 'infinity' pool surrounded by lush vegetation with typical rice paddies beyond. The beautiful villa is built on the Balanese open plan style with luxurious comfort. The staff were lovely and the meals, often local recipes, were delicious. I particularly liked the Balinese tradition of daily floral decorations in my ensuite and accompanying the meals. My stays have persuaded me that this corner of Bali is a soul-replenishing experience. -

The sight/site was inspiring from the moment we arrived..lush tropical surroundings, perfectly manicured.
The sounds of the birds and insects bought us back to nature.
The water in the pool felt like velvet, not too harshly dosed with chemicals.
The taste from the kitchen was sensational and so many perfect dishes to chose from.
From the fragrance of the frangipani to the aroma of the cooking, the smells were delightful.
What more can l say? ..Oh yes, the staff were amazing, nothing was ever too much trouble!!
You must go there!!

Villa Sebali is a relaxed and luxurious home, set in stunning countryside.
The traditional style and open plan design allows the ground floor of the house to flow seamlessly into the beautiful garden where there are plenty of birds and butterflies to be seen and places to lie and read.
Furnishing is traditional and comfortable and rooms spacious. The view from our balcony was spectacular and we loved the bathroom where our shower and bath were open to the sky.
The service was tailored to individual interests and requirements and the staff were unbelievably helpful and obliging.
The food was lovely and always beautifully presented. We walked to Ubud down a green path and found lots to buy, eat and do there. -

Left on 09/29/2011 for a stay in April 2010
After mnay years of prompting, my parents finally persuaded us to visit Bali now that the children (9 and 11) were old enough to deal with the long journey from the UK.
We stayed with them at Villa Sebali, and it was evertything they had promised. (declaration of interest: My parents own the Villa).
The villa is beautiful, and very well placed to explore Ubud and the rest of Bali.
The food was simply wonderful, and the children loved every meal. The staff were uniformly excellent, from the discreet yet attentive service in the villa, to the gardners showing the children the garden and taking the time to play ping pong with them when the adults wanted to lounge by the pool.
We certainly hope to visit the villa again in the future.

I have stayed at Villa Sebali three years in a row. The staff is exceptional. Ayu and Ketut are better cooks than at most fine restaurants in Ubud. The rest of the staff are also very sweet, sincere, helpful, and competent. The location of Sebali perfect. We loved our almost daily walks into Ubud along the Champuan Ridge. I highly reccommend this villa. My family and friends loved our time there.
