Ubud is a piece of Bali worth spending some time in and Villa Shanti is seriously worth basing yourself in if you are looking for somewhere that is stunningly presented and cared for.
Located high on a ridge away from the traffic this Villa would have to be on of the most charming I have stayed in. The staff are fantastic and very enjoyable to have around. It's about a 15 minute down hill walk to the centre of town along a picturesque country road and a quick taxi ride back.
This Villa is well suited for 3 couples and also has an additional bedroom with 2 single beds if required.
Great value for your money! -

Villa Shanti was exceptional Villa accommodation. From the moment you walked through the beautiful gardens into the Villa you immediately felt completely at ease, calm and relaxed. This Villa is more like a house! It has 4 big bedrooms with ensuites, 2 adjoining bedrooms downstairs off the gorgous pool and 2 upstairs. The huge middle balcony overlooks the gorgeous green rice paddies and the 3 house boys are there to serve you breakfast and attend to your every need. We ordered in takeaway most nights as we didn't want to leave the tranquil atmosphere. A good idea would be to arrange a driver for the length of your stay as it is quite a walk down to the main street.

Just returned from a two week Bali trip with seven friends, 8 days of which we spent in Ubud, Villa Shanti. The location is perfect...a walkable distance from town and far enough out to be away from the hustle and into the village life. Absoulutely stacks of room for a large group...4 bedrooms with four big bathrooms (none any better than the other). A football field of living space and everything you could need (except maybe for a clothes drying rack). All this plus your own pool, glorious gardens, great artwork and the most amazing views over the rice fields.
Eight women travelling together could be filled with alot of needs and be a little daunting for those having to meet those needs, but enter Putu, Made and Nyomen. These three guys looked after us like we were royalty and always with a patient smile on their face.
If you're looking for a special place in Ubud then you just found it -

We were lucky enough to have 2 nights at this beautiful villa. The views were sensational, the house exceptional and the staff professional. It was the absolute highlight of our 3 week holiday. Rest assured, we will be back for more.

My wife and I stayed and Villa Shanti for 5 nights in mid January and did not want to leave...literally. The house is beautiful, situated on rice terraces and a short walk to town. The staff is amazing and you can order food to the house that is also cheap, and healthy. The house is decorated with beautiful pieces and designed with a unique combination I would recommend Villa Shanti to anyone planning a trip to Ubud!!!

My sisters and I recently had a three night stay in Villa Shanti. It was pure heaven. The setting is just beautiful – overlooking the rice paddies in the peace and quiet. The villa was secure, spotlessly clean and well kept. There are 4 large, comfortable, air-conditioned bedrooms. The staff of 3 are wonderful. There when you need them and in the background when privacy is needed. They will arrange transport, order in food – whatever you need. Breakfast was quick and served beautifully.
The villa has plenty of sitting areas – both indoor and outdoor. Fully equipped kitchen. The pool is super clean and overlooks a stunning setting of rice paddies.
The villa is situated a bit of a walk from Ubud town (especially in the heat) – but transport is readily available.
We loved our stay in Villa Shanti and would recommend it, and look forward to returning one day.
Would be perfect for one or two families or for up to 4 couples.
Just beautiful!!! -

Seattle, WashingtonWithout a doubt, the most relaxing and amazing place we've ever
Left on 10/20/2011 for a stay in June 2009
My wife and I stayed at Villa Shanti for our honeymoon and it was amazing. The owners arranged to have a driver pick us up at the airport and even after some crazy flight changes and delays he was there when we arrived. Going to the house we weren't really sure what to expect but when we got there it was unbelievable. There were staff at the house 24/7 that helped us with everything we needed, the house was so huge we didn't know what to do with it all, and it's entirely furnished with amazing local art and artifacts. Just walking into the front door you walk over a coy pond which you can look out at from the master bedroom and there's patios, a meditation gazebo, day bed on the roof, and pool that all look out over never ending rice patty fields. The most interesting and delightful part for us though was the outdoor bathrooms. The master bathroom is outdoors surrounded by bamboo and has 2 showers and 2 massage tables which we made good use of (one phone call and 30 minutes later you're having a massage). The hot tub in the bathroom downstairs was also great for relaxing in.
One of the staff members was around in the morning and made us a light breakfast and was a big help with arranging our day plans. After breakfast we'd be surprised to find that our bed was made, all of our clothes were washed and folded, and all of the curtains were drawn, etc. It was a little difficult to talk to the staff and our driver because of the language/culture difference but it worked out well enough. The villa had a guide to local restaurants, sights, entertainment, etc that was very helpful and was stocked with interesting books and information on Bali.
The local Ubud area is fantastic -- full of local artists, handicrafts, and great restaurants. We walked into Ubud a few times and it's only about a 15 minute walk from the house. Visiting the other areas on the island we definitely found Ubud to be the most relaxing and interesting and the house was close enough to Ubud to experience all of it but also far enough away to get the relaxing silence and tranquility that we were looking for on our honeymoon.
This was definitely the best vacation we've ever taken (which I admit might be biased since it was our honeymoon), we've recommended it to all of our friends that have had plans to visit the area, and we're really trying to find the time to make it back soon!
