TRANQUILITY. SERENITY. SOLITUDE. BALINESE NATURAL BEAUTY. We strive for hassle-free. Villa Beji Sari is a luxurious private and secluded single villa property located 10 minutes south of Ubud in the cooler foothills of Bali. Beji Sari sits above a rocky stream overlooking terraced rice paddies and forest. Beji Sari means "Sacred Water" in Balinese language. The sound of gently splashing water fills the property and local wildlife like iridescent blue kingfishers, egrets, and gliding lizards reside peacefully. The villa is traditional Balinese architecture and appointments, but with all modern amenities. It contains an eclectic collection of a...Read more

Beautiful, Relaxing, Peaceful
Left on 06/12/2013 for a stay in May 2013
This Villa really does deserve all of the fabulous reviews that it gets. It is a truly beautiful villa where everything is thought of ...including a fabulous selection of Dvds, computer and wifi.
The 2 Ketut's and 2 Wayan's were the most beautiful hosts. They were there for everything that we needed and more but often remained out of sight ...which we tried really hard not to let them do!! We loved chatting with them, joking around and just enjoying their company. I felt so blessed to spend some quality time with them. We travelled with a 12 week old baby and a 7 year old with disabilities and my girls were just as loved by the 2 Wayan's and Ketut's as they were by us. The wee girl was often being whisked off for cuddles while I ate my breakfast.
The pool was stunning, the views beautiful and the sounds of roosters in distant villages and the creek below were so soothing.
There were just a couple of things that I felt travelers should know.
The villa is a good 15-20 min drive from the heart of Ubud. This is both a fabulous thing and sometimes a little annoying. It's fabulous to be away from the hustle and bustle and the hosts are happy to take you into town and back twice per day, free of charge. It's never a problem for them. But you really have to plan your day/evening meal out to remain within these 2 trips or pay to have a driver for extra trips if you're a 'go with the flow' kinda person. Also, it would be really great to have the villa's location written out on a card that can be given to driver's coming back from Ubud. It was very difficult to get anyone to settle on what the actual address of the villa is and that makes it hard to barter for the cost of the driver.
My mum and dad stayed in the bottom room of the villa and felt that it was very damp. There is a dehumidifier but it becomes very stuffy and the smell of mothballs is quite strong.
Breakfast was ok but not fabulous. We ate out for breakfast on a few occasions but to be fair we had been having the most amazing balinese breakfasts known to man for the 5 days prior to arriving at the villa. Our family all feel that breakfast is our favourite meal of the day so we were a bit disappointed with breakfast ...but didn't have the heart to tell Wayan because she is just such a wonderful lady and I didn't want to offend her. They really are that special :).Response from Beji Sari - 06/15/2013
Owner
Melissa: Thank you for posting this review, our first less than perfect one. We do appreciate this feedback and strive to address specific areas where guests express less than complete satisfaction. We perhaps need to obtain a more powerful dehumidifier in the lower suite. Thank you for putting your view on breakfast in the perspective of something quite extraordinary before arriving at Beji Sari. We do put a great deal of effort and expense into offering a wide variety of freshly prepared and served dishes. While we make no pretense of world class cuisine, we are nonetheless quite proud of these offerings and know they are quite far above standard in the realm of complementary meal. All that being said, we constantly modify and improve that menu, and we shall do so with more than our usual enthusiasm thanks to your feedback.
Do come back and see us.

Bury St EdmundsA wonderful return to Bali
Left on 05/30/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My husband and I stayed at Beji Sari for 12 nights with our two teenage daughters in early april. We first visited Bali 25 years ago on honeymoon and promised to return for our 25th wedding anniversary. We wanted to find somewhere special and found it at Beji Sari. It was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The house was beautiful and the gardens and pool stunning, but above all else it was the amazing service provided by Ketut and Wayan that made our stay so memorable. Wayan produced a fabulous breakfast every morning and Ketut would be ready to take us into Ubud and pick us up whenever we needed. If we didn't want to venture out for lunch or an evening meal they were more than happy to source a meal locally and serve it on the balcony. Nothing was too much trouble although we rarely needed to call on them as the house had everything we needed. The service they provided made our stay so easy. From Ketut picking us up at the airport with a coolbag of cold drinks and cold flannels, to arranging a car and driver for day trips. They were both attentive but unobtrusive and their dedication to their job and Beji Sari was obvious.
One thing we had been looking forward to was using the bikes to explore the surrounding area and paddy fields. When we arrived there were only two bikes available but by the following morning another two bikes were ready and waiting for us. This is an example of the service you can expect at Beji Sari.
There is little that can be added to the other glowing reviews on this site other than to say if you are looking for a beautiful and special place to stay with impeccable service, then look no further because you will find it at Beji Sari. Thank you Kevin, Ketut and Wayan for providing the perfect place for our 25th anniversary. We couldn't have wished for more and Bali is as beautiful and special as we remembered.Response from Beji Sari - 06/02/2013

Dear Lesley & family: Thank you so much for this kind review. You again highlight the stars of Beji Sari, Ketut & Wayan. They do love hosting guests and work very hard to ensure your experience in their hands is as positive as possible. And thank you for having us consider the bicycles. Your need and desire for 4 had us look at the condition of our bikes and prompted the decision to acquire 2 new ones immediately. We take aim at complete satisfaction for your holiday experience. We understand and take quite seriously the reality that your time with us is very likely a rare and hard-earned break from the rigors of professional and family life at home. And the biking in the local area is a deeply enriching experience that introduces our guests to all that is special about Bali and its people.
It was a pleasure to meet your lovely family and we do hope to see you again.

Left on 02/15/2013 for a stay in December 2012
This villa is located a short drive out of Ubud and overlooks a small river valley with rice paddies on the other side. We have three children and there was plenty of room for all of us...the children stayed on one floor and we used the other. Nice decor inside, open air bathroom, lovely pool and everything was extremely well kept and attended to by the on-site hosts, Ketut and Wayan. This young couple are villa's greatest asset. Wayan presented a lovely breakfast each morning with a big smile. Ketut was only too happy to drive us wherever we wanted to go. They would bring our things undercover when the afternoon rains came and were out.
we visited the Bird park on one day...just after lunch it teemed with rain. We rang Ketut to pick us up. He was already waiting in the car park before we called. Thats indicative of the service they provided.
Ketut, if your'e reading this...the boys still think about you when we play certain music in the car.Response from Beji Sari - 02/20/2013

Catherine: Thank you very much for this considerate and kind review. About 1 in 4 of our guests trouble do so, and we do appreciate the effort. As many have before, you identify the real stars of our villa -- Ketut and Wayan. Rest assured they share in the rewards of their extraordinary and genuine service. Reviews like yours always remind of us of their value in this enterprise. While we are very proud of the physical Beji Sari, Ketut & Wayan give it its soul for our guests. Again, thank you!

I friend just asked me if I knew anywhere good to stay in Bali and I remembered I had not written a review about Beji Sari. Of course I told him to stay with Ketut and Wayan in Ubud! This villa was one of (if not the absolute) best places I have stayed. The pool is magical, the villa itself so well decorated, but the staff are what make it truly special. Ketut and Wayan were the best hosts, even letting me play with the beautiful dachshunds when they found out how much I missed my puppies. I still dream of Wayans mie goreng. Thank you for having us Kevin. I can't imagine there is a better place to stay in Bali.

Kate: Thanks so much for this great review. I do adore my two dachshunds and appreciate you mentioning them. I love this breed because they have such individual personalities. In this case as distinct as Lady Gaga (Tami, the black one) and Margaret Thatcher (Susi, the brown one).
Thanks for giving us a try, and do come back!

We stayed at Beji Sari as a family group of Grandmother, Mother, 2 children aged 4 and 10 and the villa was ideal for us all.
The villa is beautifully furnished and very comfortable, there's a great supply of Dvd's, internet, comfortable beds and sofas, an amazing indoor/outdoor bathroom upstairs, and verandah dining that looks out onto the beautiful garden and pool and to the jungle across the river that runs below the villa.
The location is great, a car and driver - the amazing Ketut- is included for trips into Ubud and many tourist attractions. You can order meals in if you don't want to leave the villa, and we spent many nights enjoying our evening meal on the verandah.
We spent a lot of time in the pool, absolutely gorgeous! The pool doesn't have a shallow end suitable for younger children however this didn't prove a problem especially as Ketut helped us find some pool 'floaty' toys locally.
We can't say enough about the Villa staff. Ketut and Wayan were always available when we needed them, whether for driving us to and from town, the zoo etc, helping us to order in and bringing meals etc. They are lovely people and we really appreciate the way they looked after us.We always felt comfortable, safe and secure. The breakfasts they served were delicious - breakfast on the verandah, another highlight. You may be lucky and see a crocodile (small )resting on the river bank below in the cool morning - we only saw one but it was quite exciting!
Airport pickup and return is included, and this, along with the inclusion of a car and driver was a real bonus to us.
We loved our stay at Beji Sari and we would thoroughly recommend it.

Shae and family: Thank you so much! You have highlighted the real stars of Beji Sari -- Ketut and Wayan. We are so proud of this couple and the genuine warmth and caring they give our guests. They effectively manage the villa (and my house across the ravine) independently, as I am absent most of the time. Rest assured that they are rewarded for their hard work and dedication to this enterprise. They are priceless and key to the success we are enjoying with this villa. They have been with us from the finishing of construction several years ago and we think of them both as members of our family and stakeholders in the business of hosting guests like you. We are conscious of actually being hosted guests by the Balinese and consider Ketut and Wayan representatives of this treasured relationship, and we strive to ensure they reap a fair share of the financial benefits derived from it.
We do hope you come back and visit us!

The many other reviews on this site do justice to the appointments of Beji Sari (gorgeous pool, generous rooms, fantastic views) and how beautiful the surrounds are. They also use superlatives to describe the service offered by Wayan, Ketut and their extended team. As people have said, Kevin, the owner, is extremely helpful and generous with his time and advice. I can't add much more, except to say that if you want to go to one of the most beautiful places, be amongst the most beautiful people on the planet, be treated like a special guest and part of their family, then don't hesitate. Just do it. Make that booking and enjoy a holiday that you won't get to experience anywhere else. We had tears before we left. We've promised to go back soon.

Thanks, guys! Very much appreciate these kudos on the villa, the staff, and Bali in general. Totally agree on your assessment of Balinese people. The way they live ought to instruct the rest of us -- natural beauty and art key to their lives and relationships. Smiles rule at Beji Sari, and pretty much the whole island. Of the many resorts I have visited over the years, none approaches the genuine warmth encountered in Bali. The pride and confidence in their way of life is something extraordinary. That you seem to appreciate this is indeed rewarding for us at Beji Sari -- we aim for you to do so. The woman who brings the offerings to our temples and homes twice each day is not simply show -- this is essential to the innate sense of peace and harmony to a place (the villa in this instance) that the Balinese take quite seriously. They would consider the villa spiritually out of balance if we did not do this daily routine.
Please come back and see us again!

Left on 12/17/2012 for a stay in December 2012
Having just returned from a 4 night stay at Villa Beji Sari with my family all I can say is: Wow! This is the best villa I have ever stayed in; it's simply wonderful.
We loved the house and the pool and the garden, everything really. The house is on two levels with a huge bedroom/living room upstairs (+ toilet/shower) and a smaller but beautifully furnished bedroom, with a study and shower room/toilet downstairs. The furnishing is stunning, quality artworks abound. Also the house has a great library of literature to enjoy, as well as a collection of Dvds and CDs to use.
The best thing for us though was the garden. It is spacious, immaculately kept and has views onto the jungle and the stream and even paddy fields. And last but not least the pool is stunning.
And the icing on the cake is the service. Ketut and Wayan are great hosts. They will treat you like family and can be relied on to help you with any issues. They will even go get you food for lunch/dinner if you cannot drag yourself away from this paradise villa. I couldn't fault the service nor the villa in any way. A perfect stay. I'd give it 6 stars if that was possible. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!Response from Beji Sari - 12/18/2012

Robin & family: Thank you so much for this generous review. It is rare we get short notice bookings such as yours, and your experience affirms our confidence in the "ready to go" state of the villa and staff. We especially appreciate the remarks on the landscaping... when we priced professionals for this job we decided against their services and in favor giving it a go ourselves. What does not grow well on Bali?! So while we are pleased with our own efforts, it is greatly reassuring to read of the pleasure you also found in those. Same goes for the interior decorating. This is furniture and art we have acquired over the years in Indonesia, and knowing that it "works" is great. Once again, many thanks!
We look forward to seeing you again.

What an amazing place Beji Sari is. From the moment we arrived we felt like it was a tropical home away from home. Everything was exactly as described. The pick up from the airport was hassle free, the beautiful infinity pool was hard to leave and Ketut and Wayan were very attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Being an avid gardener, I found the landscaping and surroundings to the villa were beautiful and really set the scene. The fit out and furnishing of the villa were also exceptional and very comfortable. My partner and I hired a motorbike and really enjoyed riding around the local villages and experiencing more of the real Bali, away from the hectic coastal resorts. We had a fantastic time and will be back for a return visit for sure!

Eileen: Thank you so much for this kind assessment. Especially for pointing out what can be gained by biking locally. We are indeed located in a village representing the "real Bali". This is what I find irresistible about most of the island away from tour attractions -- the extraordinary peace and beauty of ordinary, everyday village life: temples, offerings, traditional dress, the devotion to artistic pursuits, and despite paddies being a completely human footprint on the landscape, are nonetheless of extraordinary natural beauty. You indeed "hit the nail on the head" with that comment. Thank you! And do come back. Cheers, Kevin

We had hoped the pictures online were not enhanced as sometimes seems when you actually visit a place. Absolutely not in this case. Beji Sari is as beautiful if not more so as the online pictures. The pool was our saving grace in the heat and to have this place all to ourselves was a plus. Our friends stayed upstairs and we were down. Either location was luxurious and we were all happy with our suites. Wayan's breakfasts were amazing and a wonderful way to start our day.
Our hosts Ketut & Wayan were the perfect compliment to the villa. They seemed to know what we needed or wanted at any given moment. From picking us up at the airport or the daily trips to Ubud they were cheerful and accommodating. If they couldn't do it themselves they found other people who were equally as helpful. By the end of our stay we had three new friends (our driver ,Wayan, was a favourite as well) so thank you Wayan, Ketut & Wayan for making this the most memorable of experiences. I hope I can return to my Shangri-La soon!Response from Beji Sari - 11/09/2012

My Husband and I stayed at beji sari for 4 nights and wished it had been a month. The Villa is unique and inviting.I remember the first moment we stepped into the Villa. I felt like alice in Wonderland!
The outside bathroom has two basins and the biggest shower head I have ever been under. It was like being under a relaxing waterfall.
The couple who looked after us were Ketut and Wayan. Whenever we needed something they were there to help us out. But most the time we just wanted the place to ourselves. To feel like we were the only ones in this beautiful villa surrounded by tropical forrest. It was the perfect place to stay and complemented our daily visit to the yoga barn .

All the other reviewers have used up all the superlatives to describe Villa Beji Sari! We had a fantastic stay from the minute we arrived. We've traveled a fair bit and in our experience it's rare to find good value accommodation which exceeds your expectations, but this did. Our jaws actually dropped when we arrived at the villa. Our children are 9 and 12 and they slept downstairs. They loved the pool, as did we. I wouldn't recommend for families with very young children because of the steep steps and infinity pool, but it is an adult's delight. We really appreciated the 'no plus plus' approach. Thank you to Ketut and Wayan for looking after us all. A holiday we will all remember.

Kylie & family: Many thanks for this kind review. Well, you found a great unused superlative in 'jaw dropping'. This is exactly what we hope and aim for. Please do come back again.
We agree with your assessment on small children and warn in our information pack that Beji Sari was not designed with their special safety needs in mind. We welcome families with small kids, but we do advise them to maintain close vigilance because the pool and steep edges on the property are not barrier protected. Kids below age 8 or so would need supervision for their safety.

My family (3 adult sons) spent 4 wonderful days here. The ambiance immediately placed us in a relaxed, vacation mood - there is a gentle flowing stream, green paddy fields, an infinity pool that reflects the morning sun. Everything is so gentle - the Balinese offerings, flowers at little corners, the way the furniture and plants just seem to be together. I really liked the bathroom, with the orchids! The Staff is just supreme - so sweet, polite, they can whip up a good meal and so discrete. Its a magical spot. I loved every minute of our time there! We will definitely go back again.

Thank you, thank you! This is what we aim for. So happy you had a great time. Ketut & Wayan are our secret weapons in this endeavor. They are the best of Balinese hospitality -- happy you are there and not afraid to show it.
And a special thanks on your kind words on the breakfasts. Some may say anything free tastes especially nice, but we really do try to make that meal superlative. What we offer has been thought through and tested. We want that meal to do exactly what you expressed. We have added a terrific banana smoothie (no added sugar) and a ham & cheese jaffle. These are my personal favorites.
Please do come back. Almost all of our guests have been as terrific as you and your great girlfriend -- simply taking in the peace and beauty of Beji Sari and understanding this is what makes it special.

One word that we could express as we arrived at the villa. Spectacular!!!
The view overlooking the creek, the natural atmosphere, the villa interior and exterior...spectacular! (on the inside, the master bedroom and the outdoor bathroom are beautifully designed. Very well done.)
The villa location is pretty secluded from the center of Ubud, yet it is only 15 minute drive to the heart of the town and free shuttle to the drop off point at the center of Ubud is provided by the villa owner. This is part of all other services from the Villa that we found good value for money.
We would definitely love to make our return to the Villa for a week escape.

Anita: Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words on the decoration of Beji Sari. This means a lot to us. We did not hire a decorator for that important task, but took it on ourselves, so your praise is very reassuring. The villa contains the art and furniture from our lives rather than a shopping spree. Each piece has a story. The danger in that is a decorating scheme beautiful to us but odd or just plain "jelek" to those unfamiliar with the history. See? You have put our minds to ease.
And please do come back. I would love to meet you next time.

My wife, teenage daughter and I have just returned from a wonderful 10 day stay at Vill Beji Sari.
Booking accommodation online is often a bit of a gamble - it is not until you arrive that you know if you have made the right decision. However, Beji Sari exceeded our expectations in so many ways. It made the perfect base for our explorations, and was such a delight to return to each day.
It was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the main centre of Ubud. The villa is very well designed and maintained. From the pool overlooking the gorge and paddy fields, the big open terrace that made up the dining area, the comfortable bedrooms, with beautiful spacious bathrooms, the comfortable living area with large screen TV and vast DVD collection, the quiet and private library with many interesting books, Villa Beji Sari was absolutely gorgeous
We also very much enjoyed owners dogs. They are delightful pets, and very loving, always welcoming us back when we arrived after some time out. I hope we did not spoil them too much!
Another reason why our stay was fantastic was the very warm and hospitable service staff of the villa. We hugely very impressed by the service we received, and were looked after impeccably by Ketut and Wayan. They are both so friendly, nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile. Breakfasts were a real highlight - my daughter loved Wayan's pancakes, and I particularly enjoyed the Indonesian breakfasts.
Villa Beji Sari made our departure from Bali a very hard thing to do. We wished we could have stayed longer. We had an amazing time and would very much like to return in the near future. We feel we have only touched the surface of Ubud.
We would like to thank the owners for allowing us to share the amazing oasis they have created. My wife commented that we had found Shangri La.Response from Beji Sari - 07/26/2012

Ross & Family: Many thanks. Reading of your experience is indeed reassuring that our efforts have created what we envisioned entering into this venture. We do hope you return, as do Tami, Susi & Blackjack, I am sure :).
You properly cite the real stars of your stay, Ketut & Wayan. Your kind feedback and that of others impels me to give them a raise. They have become superb caretakers that I am proud to have as hosts at Beji Sari.
Warm regards,

It was the most relaxing place to stay, and the caretakers were absolutely lovely. They were available anytime you needed anything at all and greeted you each time with a smile. They organized scooters for us and we got to enjoy riding up to the mountains. Breakfast was brought to us each morning on the balcony, it was really relaxing. A holiday yet homely with everything you need.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat.Response from Beji Sari - 07/26/2012

Dave: We are grateful for this generous review and your assessment of Ketut & Wayan (Bagong, too). As I am an often absent owner, these people are key to the success of each visit, and your feedback is a great reassurance that things are going as hoped and planned. Please do come back and visit us. Perhaps we can meet you next time.
Warm regards,

Everything from the time we arrived at the airport and were met by our driver (arranged by the villa) until the time we departed from Bali was absolutely amazing. The entire property is the very model of tropical perfection, from the pool to the architecture and furnishings/decor in the spacious guest rooms. The unique showers are really fun as well! The staff are extremely friendly and serve a delicious breakfast every morning and are never more than a bell ring away to tend to any request (including helping to arrange for drivers and excursions during your stay). Can't recommend this place highly enough and would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!

Kabul, AfghanistanThe most relaxed I have ever been!

From the minute we were met at the airport by Ketut everything was taken care of. This villa was amazing. Ketut and his wife Wayan seemed to know exactly what we needed when we needed it. Away from the craziness in Kuta, Legian and Seminyak. A car was available to take us to the beach at Sanur or into Ubud for shopping or dining. It was hard to leave the villa. It was just that peaceful. Our own pool, the sound of the river below and the quiet evenings on the veranda with drinks. The owners were there one night and invited us over to the main house for drinks. An amazing evening. Ketut arranged for scooters we rented to be delivered to the villa and we were close enough to ride these into Ubud and all over the area. Great time. Glad we found this one!
