Amala in Sanskrit means purity. During your stay at Amala, you will discover this purity in the surrounding landscape and way of life that surrounds the Villa. The charm of the padi fields of Keliki is mesmerising; and the soft murmur of the river Wos in the valley below calming. To top all this, the enchanting sunsets across the horizon of Ubud are unforgettable.

singaporeQuiet Luxury
Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in January 2011
I've been to amala about 3 times now, and am looking forward to my 4th this July.
Amala is Ubud's hidden gem. Almost literally. Situated quietly amidst endless paddy fields, yet just a ten minutes drive from bustling Ubud town, you get the best of both worlds.
It is also most ideal for big groups of family and friends. There are 4 bedrooms, and a tv room that can be turned into a 5th. The master bedroom, isolated from the rest (making it most special) is generous in size - twice the size of the other rooms - and you get marvelous views of the sunset on the balcony.
I look forward to breakfast every morning - Simple eggs, toasts and fruits, yet delicious because it's all fresh. You can also get the villa staff to stock up on groceries for you (teh botol/bintang beer). Laundry is done daily, efficiently, and villa staff are discrete yet observant. The complimentary bicycle usage is also a nice touch. We spent many evenings exploring the surrounding valleys and discovering little cafes and art galleries along the way.
Another honorary mention - our villa driver (and now, friend), Made. Made is the coolest and most patient driver, and the go-to guy for the best spots all about Bali. He has always made our trips alot more fun and memorable.
Villa amala will always be my home away from home in Bali, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a different kind of vacation stay when in Ubud. -

An extended family group of 10 stayed for 2 weeks. The villa is in a very beautiful location and the villa itself is luxurious. The thing that made our stay so memorable was the wonderful hospitality and the professionalism of the staff. They did everything for us: cooking, cleaning, driving, shopping ... We chose our daily menu and they shopped and cooked for us for a relatively small price. The food was excellent. The driver took care to assist one of our party with a sight problem to cross the busy roads wherever we were. The staff were exceptionally friendly to all of our children. We have stayed in other villas in Bali and the experience does not compare. If you are into walking, ask the staff about the local walks nearby ... these were a highlight.

SingaporeGreat stay at amala Villa
Left on 01/16/2013 for a stay in June 2012
Our group of family friends with 5 teenage boys had a fabulous stay at amala Villa last June. When we first entered the villa, we were pleasantly surprised at how well designed the place was, it was not visible from the main road. The villa stood in the midst of vast open padi fields, the open concept of the villa took full advantage of the beauty and tranquility of the natural surrounding.
The villa came equipped with a driver and car, a great convenience for us to get to town(in10mins) and to travel around during our stay. We had a team of kitchen staff who were there till late each day to attend to our F&B; needs, we felt so much at home at the villa as everything was so well organized and professionally run. Waking up each morning to a pre-ordered breakfast spread was great, throughout the day, we were also served drinks and snacks whenever we requested. The kitchen staff could also do marketing for us for pre-ordered meals, we reimbursed them for the exact amount of purchases without additional charges. Till today, we still talked about the heavenly desserts we had at the villa... the banana fritters and pulut hitam with jack fruits.
The rooms that we occupied were located on 3 separate levels and all rooms were en-suite and spacious. The villa is extremely family friendly, our teenage boys could swim at the lap pool, play board games that were available, watch videos on Wifi in the living room when they were not doing activities outside. For the adults, it was a de-stressing and soul enriching time for all of us, we enjoyed time spent in the dining and living room, catching up on old times in the comfort of the intoxicating cool evening breeze (it was supposed to be a hot month in June!). Amala villa will always be our first choice in Ubud, Bali.Response from Ee Cheng Tseng - 01/18/2013

With its scenic views and commendable service, Villa amala made for a wonderful vacation. From the very hospitable Made (the driver and all-round trusty tour guide of sorts, even accompanied me to climb the mountain), to the villa staff that went the extra mile (ferried me to Ubud Town on his bike in a jiffy), and not forgetting the very authentic Indonesian food that the kitchen staff manages to whip up. Breakfast always proves to be my favorite meal of the day with a meal laid out for you, and views of the padi fields and local farmers. On occasion, you might have a few lost chicks wandering in but that just adds on to the atmosphere.
The villa also accommodates larger groups ( I went in a group of 10), can be scaled down for a smaller family as well. They also have an on-site table tennis table!
I have now been there twice, and will be sure to return again! -

If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and unwind, Amala is the exactly the place you are looking for in Bali. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Bali, you are able to enjoy a side of Bali not many know of. The villa is surrounded by padi fields, so you will be able to enjoy the sunrise/sunset. During the night the sky is covered with a blanket of stars.
The service provided is excellent, the staff are very nice and friendly and they are able to cook a variety of cuisines.
The rooms are quite spacious and bathrooms are very clean.
**The villa is a 5minute drive away from the main area of Ubub, which has the best bbq pork ribs (Naughty Nuri's)
*There is also a trail/scenic route near by which you can take to walk to Ubud town -

Had the most amazing time in the villa with my family and some friends. Its tucked away in the picture Postcard Perfect Padi fields and Perched on the edge of a rainforest. Feels like your very own retreat in the nicest part of Bali - at the same time, its a 5 min drive to Ubud Town with all its amenities. We loved hanging by the Pool and ordering Raki-Madu ( Honey Sake ) from the ever obliging staff and waking up to the serenity of the Lush Landscape.

SingaporeA great place to relax

This is the second time that our family has stayed at amala Villa., and we were not disappointed. The villa is located in the middle of paid fields, so you can spend your day lazing on the strategically located day bed and watch what the farmers are doing. Or if you prefer, the infinity pool is large enough for laps.
If you like more activity there are biking trails and hiking trails from the villa to the surrounding villages. Ubud centre, which in my opinion, is getting a bit crowded is a 10 minute drive away. You can also make it a hiking trip into town through winding verdant trails. So, there's lots of different things to do for everyone in the family.
The staff here are always helpful and friendly , it's always nice to step off the plane to be greeted by the ever smiley Made. The kitchen is helmed by Dian who rustles up terrific meals every day and is always gracious and gentle.
The villa is large enough so that everyone has their own space to do their own thing. I love that we can have massages in the villa. The staff are perfectly happy to arrange for therapists from the nearby spa to come and do treatments for you in the comfort of your own place.
At the end of our stay I always feel we never want to leave. The good thing is that we will always make time to return to this wonderful retreat. -

SingaporeA great experience

Villa amala was a great experience!
What I really appreciated about this place was the quiet, peaceful and scenic environment in and around the property. In addition it provided complete privacy. Something that is so hard to find nowadays.
It is a great place to have a huge gathering. Because it can comfortably fit 10 people, it is the most suitable place for travelers coming in bigs groups such as family or in our case a group of friends.
The staff were great too! They were very polite and helpful. And they always respected our privacy.
I would definitely recommend Villa amala to travelers going to Bali and more specifically Ubud. But more importantly, I would definitely make a return trip.
Thanks for a great time Villa amala and see you soon!
