Absolutely Fantastic, beautiful and friendly Home away from Home

Left on 04/20/2013 for a stay in April 2013

This location is such a beautiful hide-away that is within about a 20 min walk of Ubud, (10 mins walk from great restaurants and cafes) but can be reached by friendly drivers who are just waiting to drive you anywhere. It is affordable, luxurious, has the most magnificent garden to relax in/around, and very very friendly staff. If you want somewhere that isn't in the hustle and bustle of a hotel but has the food and surroundings that rival the best, this would be a really great choice.
Just contact the site for directions for drivers - once received they find it easily.

      Lovely stay in Ubud

Left on 02/14/2013 for a stay in February 2013

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Naya over the last few days. We went for my mum's 70th birthday. The rooms and gardens are prettier than in the photos. The people at Naya are lovely...the chef Wayan cooked us many delicious meals (which were much better than the meals we ate out), the manager Nyoman, who is also an artist, explained a lot about Balinese art and culture to us, Made who drove us around in his very comfortable car was kind and super helpful and Jay was very friendly and funny, and bothered to chat with us everyday and make us feel at home. The decor of the place is perfect, not a bit of the gloomy dark wood you see in much of Bali, but very bright and light while still being traditional. The gardens are very lush and they also have an organic vegetable garden. From the main common area there is a view of a paddy field with lots of cute ducks. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Beautiful hideaway in a perfect location!

Left on 02/04/2013 for a stay in November 2012

I stayed at Naya Ubud for a week late last year, I had been recommended Naya by friends and have since recommended this wonderful place to friends also.

These villas really have the wow factor and the location of Naya is excellent, this place is close enough to enjoy all that Ubud has to offer yet quiet and peaceful at the same time, the staff are so friendly and Jay and his team have done a great job of catering for all your needs.

I would recommend taking a walk around the local rice paddies and meeting the friendly locals, there are many great restaurants near by and plenty of nice bars to enjoy a drink or two.

I'm not one to normally write reviews but my stay at Naya was truly wonderful, this place is great for the soul and I am already planning to return!

Thanks again to all the staff, this really is a special place and if you are looking for somewhere to relax and rejuvenate while enjoying amazing Ubud then you are lucky as you have now found the spot!

      Enjoy..

      Extraordinary hidden gem in paradise!

Left on 01/12/2013 for a stay in May 2012

Unforgettable stay I only wished I had discovered it sooner! With so many places to stay in and around Ubud I thought I had seen it all until unforeseen construction next to my guesthouse prompted a move then was fortunate to have discovered Villa Naya. From the start, I knew this place was unique riding off the main road through winding ways of the dreamy rice paddies pulling up to the wild wood wall that looked like more akin to an installation of intentional art, a nice touch that is only a peek into the paradise that lies within.

Stepping into the lush landscape of exotic traditional open air Balinese architecture greeted with the sweet scent of tropical flowers, ambient sounds of water and jungle. Walking from the grand front lounge to infinity edge poolside and meandering around the meticulous grounds. Each building unique from the next offering a swank and cool yet comfortable and relaxing experience. Built eco-friendly with sustainability in mind from the reclaimed materials to the edible landscape. Tastefully decorated with beautiful luxurious Indonesian touches of wood and stone expertly arranged to create the perfect spaces for relaxing, socializing, and getting away from it all. Every detail more exquisite than the next from the bedding, to the lighting, to the layout, the warm hospitality, and all the small touches that make this a truly one of a kind space. It felt open but private and very romantic!

Jay and his staff are exceptional. Friendly, genuine, super helpful, and will make you feel right at home like you are the most honored guest in their home. It was the perfect end to my Bali trip. I left feeling refreshed, inspired and like I had just discovered a precious gem. I look forward to coming back again and thank Jay and his amazing staff for a memory not to be forgotten!

      Simply amazing.

Left on 12/04/2012 for a stay in November 2012

We only had a few days stay at Naya, specifically in the Gladak, with my partner and our 4yr daughter and the experience was indeed amazing.

Jay (who has spent years creating the place) and his new house manager Ludvig are together creating an phenomenal experience. To imagine that people pay often 5 times more to stay in luxury hotels in Bali is beyond me. The space, the quality of the interiors, the grounds, the people, the pool (the pool!) the location are all second to none. And I mean that sincerely, their house sets the standards by which other villa hotels in Bali should aspire to.

Everyone working at the house was down-to-earth/helpful/kind/nice in a human way that big hotels try to achieve through training, but are really just qualities of nice people who should be in the first place. We never had any problems with wildlife in the room, but it's worth noting that in the middle of a rice field you are likely come close to wild life and spiders the kind of which you measure by the size of your hand, but they are all harmless. Something that I really appreciate. Also, very close are a good number of excellent cafe/restaurants with extremely high standards of food, if you are willing to venture on a short walk/ride through the rice field. Worth noting, is that the photographs on Tripadvisor don't do the place justice, check their new web site.

The design and the balance of style both modern luxury and traditional Balinese is effortlessly combined, in to the kind of place you might see in Wallpaper magazine in an article about staying in 'Hidden Treasures' and no doubt will be in the near future.

At the same time, they give guests the feeling of being friends that are cared about, rather than simply another nameless body on a bed with dollars in their pockets.

We felt at home (in the version of home that I only dream about) and it was certainly one of the high points of our trip to Bali, as magic a stay as any stay in Bali could hope to be.

The location can be rented as a whole, or as separate rooms.

      Highly recommended

Left on 11/05/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This was my first trip to Bali. I was looking forward to some time on the beach, but decided to check out Ubud as well. We stayed at the Naya village retreat and it was amazing! It was actually difficult to leave for the beach, so we decided to make a few day trips to the beach (about an hour each way). This worked out perfectly for us because the beach was quite busy and traffic was intense - we came here to escape people and cars. The host, Jay, arranged a driver and car for about $30-40 for the day. We also enjoyed a couple of sunset dinners on the beach - delicious seafood at Jimbaran. Note: do not drive on a Saturday, very bad traffic.

The retreat far exceeded my expectations. I imagined rice fields and tropical gardens, but so much more spectacular in real life. My boyfriend and I with another couple rented the larger of the 3 villas - Joglo. Sleeps 4 people. For 5 nights we were living in a house out of a novel. We enjoyed sunset drinks on the large terrace with big comfy bean bags. The terrace overlooks rice fields and tropical gardens. The bed was very comfortable with nice sheets. Bright, open space. The highlight was the bathroom - I could have spent hours in the bath, looking on to the garden. We had a full kitchen, living room with a large screen TV/DVD player. Felt very luxurious being treated to Balinese massages just outside of our villa at the spa. We spent a couple of afternoons lounging and swimming in the infinity pool. Jay was a nice host, introduced us to some spots in town. We rented 2 scooters between the 4 of us. We enjoyed the restaurants and shopping in town. But I was very happy that we were in the quiet, peaceful and beautiful setting of rice fields and gardens just outside of town. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Naya is the perfect setting to escape to. Ideal location, being just close enough to town but just far enough away from the crowds. The whole property is stunning from the pool/ cabana area to, my favorite, the balcony on the master suite. Romantic is an understatement. I cannot wait to spend more time at Naya!

I stayed there for three nights and loved it! - It is located next to beautiful rice fields, so you feel like you're part of the jungle. If you have the chance, you have to take a shower in the most incredible shower I've ever seen (it's outside !!).
The whole place is completely new and modern and I love all the statues , which are placed inside. If you are looking for something luxury it is defenitely the right option to stay at Jays villa.

This is without a doubt the most beautiful and amazing place I have ever stayed. From the moment you step inside you know you are somewhere special. It is aesthetically breath-taking and attention has been carefully given to every detail. Surrounded by rice fields and Balinese village life yet completely private and enclosed by lush palm trees. When you go, take a stroll in the rice paddies during sunset or take in a traditional Balinese ceremony at the nearby temple. This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, group retreats, a family vacation or even just alone time. It is spacious, open and full of inspiring energy. You get all your creature comforts while staying connected and in harmony with nature. Listen to the sounds of nature and watch the different species of birds from your balcony. I loved the natural stone bathrooms and appreciated the modern kitchen (even cooked a turkey dinner here). The staff is very friendly, helpful and easy to love. After staying here for two weeks I felt refreshed, balanced and found it very hard to leave. By far the most beautiful villa in Ubud, I would happily come back time and time again.

Wow. This place was one of the most gorgeous places I've ever stayed. I spent a week there and loved the environment, the friendly staff, the proximity to town, etc. etc. When I walked out the gate, boom- I was right there in the Balinese village life. Walk into my villa, and all the privacy in the world is mine. Pool is inviting and relaxing. Massages on site! Perfect spot for a honeymoon or a weekend getaway. I felt safe + adored the staff. There are numerous top-quality places to rent in Ubud, but this one tops the list.

The monkeys are no longer here as we were fostering a couple of baby rescue monkeys and have since found them a home with 2 other monkeys so they now have a monkey family. A happy ending
