The cottage is situated in a rural location one mile from Matterdale, on the coast to coast cycle route, located mid way between Keswick and Penrith, 2 miles north of Lake Ullswater. We had an amazing stay at Mell View cottage in Matterdale. The cottage is just gorgeous, clean, tidy, well equipped, warm and cosy. It is set in a beautiful location and close to all amenities. Would definatly recommend and stay again. Many thanks!!

Lovely cottage. Beautifully clean. Good info except we arrived with no bedding for sofa bed, missed that bit of info. Was no problem though. Super location. Enjoyed visit

One of the best cottages we've stayed in. Very clean, well-presented and equipped, warm (underfloor heating and a wood-burner!)and comfortable. The only things missing were oven gloves and a tea-cosy! Cottage is very light with windows back and front, and there are lovely views even from the bathroom! The red squirrels who visited the garden were a special treat! Ideally situated, only 15-20 mins from shops at Penrith/Keswick, yet still only an hour or so to the wilds of Ennerdale, Eskdale, and Wasdale. There are lovely walks on the doorstep, if you don't feel like driving. Definitely one to re-visit!

This is the 2nd time we have stayed in this cottage,it is not too far from Keswick,yet is set in a wonderful quiet location,it has excellent facilities throughout,my only criticisms would be the small freezer box in the refrigerator,OK if you are eating out all the time and the complicated heating system controls.The decking outside overlooking Great Mell Fell is excellent on a fine sunny evening for watching the sun go down with a large gin & tonic.

Enjoyed our stay. The heating was set a little high for us!Only thing it lacked was a shaver/toothbrush recharger point.We would definitely stay here again if in the area.
