Cities such as Marburg, Giessen and Fulda are 45 km away; Alsfeld with its half-timbered houses only 15 km. In the immediate surroundings, one can go swimming, fishing, hiking and biking.
The Hoherodskopf is an excellent place for hikes, walking, summer toboggan runs, cross country or alpine skiing or sledge rides. Bird park Schotten, Steinau adventure park and the puppet theater presenting Grimm fairy tales are also well-worth a visit. At the Niddatalsperre reservoir, one can go for a swim, use a pedal boat, inline-skate or enjoy the bird show at the bird of prey station Ermenrod.
Facilities:
A larger TEGUT supermarket (for groceries) is just 700 m away; two general practitioners and a dentist are available if some incident needs a quick treatment so that the vacation can go on undisturbed.
