Cosy family cottage ideally situated for shops and countryside

Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was clean and warm and well situated for what we wanted to do.
There were a couple of niggly things - the showers on the corner baths were impossible to use and there was no garden area. That said, though, we would rent this place again.

      Great location

Left on 12/01/2011 for a stay in October 2011

We had a really good stay and the location of the cottage in town next to pubs and shops was great.

      The only downside was

      a. there was some dried blood on one of the bed spreads
      b. the configuration of the dining area is very tight

      ...but everything else was fine.

      Overall, satisfactory

Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in May 2011

In the heart of Ullverston, five of us (plus dog) stayed in comfort but for the following two items:

both shower hoses kinked which prevented them from working satisfactorily which was extremely frustrating.

      Would definitely consider revisting.

Pans provided were very small for thew size of party.

Only room to park one car, although other spaces easy to walk to.

Old reviews do not reflect the property now

Left on 06/27/2011 for a stay in June 2011

read all the reviews before booking this accommodation so felt reassured we were getting value for money and comfort. How wrong we were, the cottage was clean with comfortable beds, but they are the only positive comments I have.

The one sitting room smelt of smoke from the chimmney so could not sit in there. The mugs were all tea stained so brought our own before we could have a cup of tea.
The hand held showers in both bathrooms did not work, the en-suite one was plastic and all bent so could not even get any water out of it, unless my Husband stood there holding it for me, also the hand rails and soap holders were hanging off the wall and supply of toilet rolls was very poor.
All in all in need of a full makeover.

Excellent accommodation with a great location.

Left on 12/05/2009 for a stay in June 2008

The Old Bake House is an excellent holiday cottage. The accommodation is very clean and very well equippe. It is very spacious and has a great location in that its in the centre of town. The owners are very friendly and very helpful, their local pub being a few minutes walk away.

Ulverston has plenty of places to eat and shop as well as not being to far from local walks.

We had a great time and can't think of anything we didn't enjoy.

The accommodation and pub are dog friendly which was great.

      A REAL HOME FROM HOME.

Left on 12/02/2009 for a stay in July 2009

From the very first minute that we arrived, we could tell that every detail had been considered by the owners. It is a very tastefully decorated cottage with LOADS of room within. Even down to salt & pepper being provided ( a small thing I know, but it just shows how much they care). The owners are a very short walk away and were very welcoming without being intrusive. We even had another brief visit during our stay to check if everything was to our satisfaction (it most certainly was). Ideal as a base for the Lake District and everything that you need, shopping-wise, is just a short stroll away. Very easy to get our keys when we arrived and equally easy to drop them off on our (far too soon) departure. We, as a family of three found this cottage ideal, comfortable, roomy and clean and would recommend highly to all. Any downside? No not in my opinion - it was pointed out to me when we arrived by the owners' son that I might have a tight squeeze parking my car. It has a short driveway, but I have a Passat Estate and managed to park it in the drive - the family had to get out first to allow me to do this, but this is not a complaint, just pointing out that the owners had advised me beforehand about it. Wish we could go back tomorrow.
      Bill Wright.
