Inside this home all the walls are cedar and there is a striking stone fireplace making the ambiance warm and cozy. The kitchen is open to the living and dining area and is fully equipped for any family meal. Owner is a French trained Chef!

Architecturally exciting and beautifully furnished the ultimate in privacy and luxury. 'Sanctuaire� offers a spectacular retreat with 2 BR, 2 BA, and a *loft with a small third bedroom that has a GYM.

The loft is a partial second floor, reached by a staircase, with a wood-burning fireplace, all leading to an incredible view of the lake. This area provides a television with a comfortable viewing area of the lake as well as the third sleeping space with two twin beds. The kitchen is modern, with every convenience. The house is replete with wood paneling, hardwood floors, oriental rugs, and original art.

One Queen floor futon and Queen roll out bed in the loft allow sleeping for an additional two people, so the house sleeps 8 at capacity. Also- the house is childproofed and we have two cribs!

'Sanctuaire' with approx. 2000 square feet of living space provides for an open and airy retreat, three skylights, and a panoramic view through walls of glass, all giving a tree house ambiance. This exceptional home also features wool carpeting, a beautiful stone fireplace in the living room, and a variety of first class amenities. Be surrounded by fine bed linens.The master bedroom, with wall-to-wall windows overlooking the lake, has a King-sized bed with Sterling and Foster mattress, and a magnificent master bath with a deep tub Jacuzzi. There is a separate guest room with a queen bed and its own bathroom.

A secret path from the house to the lake leads to your use of own pier (and the use of your own 2 boats) and the lake frontage. On more than a forested acre surrounded on two sides by the bohemian groves, with extensive decks, and landscaping designed for year-round beauty. This unique retreat features a spectacular hot tub/spa for 6 that overlooks the lake.

The ideal place is for four-season fun as we are close to several mountains for ski weekends and winter retreats. The lake, when frozen, can be wonderful for snow shoeing and/or skating.

This beautiful home is secluded, yet only minutes drive to the local wineries, Lake Michigan, Union Pier, St. Joseph, Warren Dunes, Grand Mere State Park, Public Golf courses and bicycle and hiking trails and 45 minutes to Saugatuck! Hello and thank you for viewing Sanctuaire Vacation Rental! The Rate above is based on double occupancy (2 people) during the low season. We have three seasons- High Season, Low Season and "Shoulder Season. Rates are based on specific dates and occupancy and are higher for holidays. 2 night minimum during low season and 4 night minimum for holidays. Summers ( High Season)- we only rent weekly- starting and ending on Saturdays. During the high season, weekly rates start at $1999 and go up until $3600, exclusive of security deposit, cleaning fee and taxes.   We stayed at Sanctuaire twice, each for one week. This cabin is truly a treat, and you will do yourself a big favor staying at Sanctuaire, as it is amazing. Having traveled all over the world, and being very familiar with all sorts of lake houses in Southwest Michigan as well as mountain resorts and cabins, this home stands out as being the best.
  Travel reviews are always difficult to compare, what is great for one person is not so great for another. In this case however, it is different. This home is absolutely amazing, and I dare to say that most peoples' own homes are not as nice as this exquisite retreat. To call it a cabin is an understatement as it is fantastic, with everything perfectly fitting, from the views, to the location, decor, cleanliness all the way to a beautiful welcome basket, down to cooking dishes, plates, herbs and anything you might not even have thought of in your own home during a well-planned Holiday. Do yourself a favor, and if you are looking for a great escape, stay at Sanctuaire. I haven't had time to write this review earlier, but nevertheless, with the upcoming Holidays, as much as I would like to keep it as "my best-kept travel secret", this cabin (I would rather call it a Chalet, as they are so gorgeous) will provide for an unforgettable vacation. I know, words come easy, but this comes from a seasoned traveler and it is very sincere. Feel free to contact me for further questions, and Mona, thanks again for everything! It was certainly one of the best Christmas Holidays I ever had. One last note, having all the outdoor privacy and expensive Outdoor Hot tub at Sanctuiare, sitting in it at night when it snows, is the best. You will win back your life.   Relaxing, perfect vacation - we hope to come back!

  We stayed 2 weeks at Sanctuaire. We were 6 people, extended family: 4 adults and 2 children, all hoping for what the property promised, a sanctuary. Even though our expectations were high after looking at photos on the website, we were thrilled on our arrival. The owner, has painstakingly thought through every detail of what you might need or want for a perfect holiday, from modern, fully stocked kitchen and comfortable beds to the extravaganza of a gorgeous hot tub, boats, out door grill, and of course, the Plasma TV with Surround Sound and lots of Dvds(!) We all used the gym which made eating the beautiful croissants and pain de chocolat from the local bakery (thank you Sandra Kays;-) The owner and the local contacts were very easy to get in touch with, and helpful, had we any queries. Our children learned to swim in the lake during our stay and we enjoyed visiting the beautiful farmer markets that were held in different villages in the vicinity. We would warmly recommend Sanctuaire to anyone who wants to enjoy a hasslefree, relaxing holiday. We have nothing to complain about, and our standards and expectations were very high. I just hope it won´t be impossible to book again!

  Classy lake house in God's Country

  Loved our week here for the first time. Clean, sparkling lake and beautifully landscaped outdoors. The home is great- a bottle of wine awaited us, with clean robes, towels, and a fully stocked home. Our family of 4 fit perfectly. If you have trouble managing steps, the ones to the lake or upstairs may be an issue, but the rooms and bathrooms are wonderful.
  Easy communication with owner, and a book of suggestions for the area was a great touch (not to mention almost a house full of floats, fishing items, toys, Dvd's, books, kitchen items like ice cream makers!). There are cheaper lake homes for this area, but none that are more classy.

  Sanctuaire: An Exceptional Vacation

  I have been staying at Sanctuaire nearly every summer since 2000. My last stay was in august 2011. Sanctuaire is secluded and private, yet, close to everything you might want to explore in the area. The home is very comfortable and clean. It is obvious that the owners take great pride in their property. Amenities include very comfortable beds, a washer and dryer, beautiful fireplace, Wifi, satellite TV, DVD player, high-end sound system, and an incredible outside hot tub with a view of the lake. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare and serve a meal. The 3 season room is perfect for sharing meals, reading, or playing board games. The lake is great for swimming, canoeing, or fishing. You can have your morning coffee out on the dock and toast marshmallows at the outside fire pit. The view from the loft will blow you away! The hosts are wonderful people and go out of their way to ensure your visit is relaxing. I highly recommend that you book Sanctuaire for your next vacation, retreat, family gathering, or romantic weekend with that special person. You'll be glad that you did!

  Sanctuaire has something for everyone. The house is cozy, well maintained and attractively furnished. It is well-stocked with kitchen equipment, games, fishing tackle- almost anything you can think of. The lake is sparkling in the sunshine from the moment you awake to the sounds of songbirds and wildlife.
  Nearby wineries beckon as do farmstands with fresh honey, Lake Michigan, antiques and some pretty awesome
  restaurants. Despite being so near to everything, it is also a haven of privacy and remote enough to provide a
  peaceful stay. I never wanted to leave.
