This close to the sea, “nautical” is naturally the theme. Watch the sun rise and the sun set from your private deck while the cool east wind breeze makes you smile; you know you are in your own paradise.

“Nestled in the Gulf of Honduras and washed by the water of the Caribbean Sea”, Islas de la Bahia, [The Bay Islands] are made up of four larger islands, Cayos Cochinos, Roatan, Guanaja, and Utila and over 60 small islets and cays [pronounced keys]. These tropical islands are located in the western Caribbean, off the northern coast of Honduras. All of the islands have something different and very special to offer visitors.
Utila has eleven neighboring Cays, but Suc Suc, [also known as Jewel Cay] and Pigeon Cays are referred to by locals simply as “The Cays”. Suc Suc was settled by Joseph Cooper, his wife and their six children in 1836. Their journey was not one of religion or political need, but for the potential of prosperity. The Coopers discovered 2 Americans farming here upon their arrival at Suc Suc Cay, Mr. Samuel Warren who subsequently married a daughter of Joseph Cooper, and Mr. Joshua who never married. Later in history, small numbers settlers from United States, England, Germany, Switzerland and other places helped to improve the population of the Cays and Utila. Today Suc Suc and Pigeon Cays, [locals say upper and lower Cays] are connected by a bridge allowing everyone easy walking access.

We stayed in the top floor apartment in May of 2012. The apartment was very clean and well maintained. The 360 deg views of the Cayes, Utila, and the mainland were amazing. Always a cool breeze out on the patio. It has a well stocked, full kitchen.
The Cayes are remote, but there are a couple of small stores where you can buy necessities. People on the Cayes are very friendly towards tourists.
Victoria and Henry made sure we had everything we needed.
There is boat access (Taxi) to Utila Town and access to scuba diving. -

Victoria and Henry Karpinski were amazing hosts. The accommodations in the penthouse were actually...breathtaking. Everything inside was clean, orderly and practical to just live and relax. The views were incredible and beautiful blue, green, and coral colored water views from every window and decks! The restaurant one story below was so convenient to grab a meal or snack then come back upstairs and relax.
The kayaks and snorkeling equipment you can use while staying with Henry & Victoria are a fantastic way to get out and do some adventure time. The sea life is incredible and taking the kayak a short distance will take you to deserted sandy beaches.
Thank you Victoria and Henry for a fabulous vacation! I will be sure to tell my friends and family to come visit! Mariners Landing, a short ride across the sea was terrific and would love to help find some buyers for your beach front properties. Henry's construction work was top-notch and your design work on layout and decorating was fabulous! Keep up the good work...

Victoria & Henry were just awesome hosts. We were greeted by a pre-arranged taxi driver @ the airport, then Henry greeting us @ the boat landing to get us to Harbor House. It's a 5 mile boat ride so even if you took a regular boat taxi most people in town know Henry & Victoria so you just tell them "take us to Harbor House...staying with Henry and Victoria".
The Penthouse was perfect. Huge King bed, fresh towels/linens, & fully functional kitchen. Every window & door faced the water so no shortage for wonderful views of the 360 degree horizon & multi-colored water views. Step out of the living room to a wonderful deck to eat, drink & be merry w/ the captivating Caribbean life. Large walk-in shower was great (remember you are on an "island" so please be conscious of water usage!). Henry & Victoria live steps away in their home so quite nice to knock on the door if you have questions, need something or for getting equipment for water adventures. Reef the dog is so cute! Snorkeling/Kayaking were fabulous & just right off your dock if you want. Sandy beaches just a 15 min. kayak ride away. There are a couple stores on the cay or just have lunch/dinner @ the restaurant downstairs! Yummy fishburger sandwich. The upper 4th level will have a deck soon that will capture true 360 views and you can sunbath with privacy! Can't wait!
We just found out that Harbor House is for sale for only us$395,000. That includes this newly refurbished penthouse, the new restaurant on the second floor & then the first floor has a living guest suite w/ a bathroom, & a couple more rooms to create an office or a store front. Cool set up for play, work, & living!
Henry also took us to their other opportunity for land & homesite development @ Mariner's Landing on Utila...just a short boat/kayak ride away. Prices for home site are just $39K and up! Henry is a contractor & showed us some of his incredible work.
Definitely a yes for this Caribbean adventure!
