If you are looking for relaxation and beauty in a remote setting than Casa Manana is the perfect choice. The villa is just as pictured and the owner is as gracious and accommodating in person as she was during the many email exchanges we had prior to the trip. Joyce will happily arrange transport to the villa, recommend local beaches, restaurants, sightseeing options, etc. Our group opted to have massages by the pool and we were not disappointed. Lovely experience in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend that future guests include a visit to Manuel antonio. Amazing beach and surf, friendly locals, and funky beach bars. Wish we had found it sooner than we did. Another must is the beach town of Domenical. Hippy vibe, sarong market, good restaurants. If I had to come up with a downside it would have to be the water problem that occurred the week before our arrival. I am happy to report that full pressure and hot water have been restored. Pura Vida!

Casa Manana was an amazing house and ideal for 3 couples traveling together. We loved everything about this house. The decor in the house was beautiful and so welcoming. Our very first day there Joyce (the homeowner) greeted us with warm banana nut bread. The mornings were wonderful, we would sit around the pool with a wonderful cup of costa rican coffee watching the jungle come alive. We saw macaws, toucans, monkeys, green parrots and sloths. Laying poolside was a favorite of ours as well, the pool was perfect. We would definitely come back and stay at Casa Manana. We are so grateful for the opportunity to have met Joyce and to stay in her lovely rental home. She takes great pride in Casa Manana and truly appreciates her guests. Thanks for such a great experience!
P.S. I Can't forget to mention Daisy and amber the resident dogs, they are both very sweet! -

This property is very well maintained and close to Uvita, beaches, whale tail beach and grocery stores. It is within driving distance to Manuel antonio and Sierpe (starting point for some of the Corcovado tours) We loved our stay there and Joyce is a very accommodating host and worked with us since we had a last minute issue with our travel plans. The house has a open plan for living spaces opening to a pool and patio area and has a fully equipped kitchen, each of the three bedroom has its own spacious attached bath. Joyce was always there to help us when we needed something - make tour reservations, loaning us things we needed if they weren't available like a cooler, rice cooker etc. She is a great hostess and made our stay very enjoyable!

San José, Costa RicaWonderful stay

We stayed six days at Casa Manana and enjoyed a lot. We simply loved the house: its location in the middle of a jungle-beach place, its architectural design with a wide space for recreation, its beautiful decoration, and completeness of its furniture and equipment...All these factors made it possible to have a pleasant stay.
The location of the house can't be better. Surrounded by trees and nature, is situated in a very private area, but at just a few minutes from the beaches and grocery stores. This makes your stay more enjoyable as you have all the facilities and amenities that you can possibly need, but in a very peaceful and quiet place.
Finally, but actually one of the best things we found here is the wonderful care of Joyce. She was an excellent hostess. She waited until we got to the house and received us with the delicious banana bread she made. The remaining days of our stay, she was always there to help with anything we needed.
In summary, our days at Casa Manana were wonderful. Therefore, if you are planning to spend your holidays in a quiet place where you can enjoy the best of nature that Costa Rica has to offer, we recommend Casa Manana. You can be sure that you will love it!

New Hamburg, ONIncredibly peaceful and beautiful house & surroundings
Left on 10/21/2012 for a stay in October 2012
I was most eager to stay at Casa Manana after the rave reviews and also after emailing the owner & her very prompt responses. She truly does have an immaculate place with lush surroundings - both natural and her own planted greenery around the house. The photos don't show the 3-D size of the house -- it is actually much longer than the photo shows. Since we were women alone we wanted to ensure we had a secure place. We truly felt safe; the caretaker lives on the grounds and someone was available 24/7 if needed. There were incredible sounds - toucans daily and frogs at night!! One night we heard some big cats scrapping! The jungle comes alive around 5 a.m. Joyce was a most hospitable and helpful hostess - she really puts herself in to making your time there enjoyable & thrives on your satisfaction as a guest! If you are concerned about the place being open & bugs around - never fear -- it is kept very clean ... the bedroom & bathroom doors are always kept closed and nothing was ever seen crawling in there, except the ants which crawl all over Costa Rica!! It was our pleasure to relax here 6 days & enjoy the pool and many lounge chairs available. Oh there's also a washer & dryer & washline - so no need to go home with dirty laundry!! I have rented from many owners in N.American, but this house was the best stocked in everything that I have ever seen!!

I hope that Daisy and amber miss us as much as we miss them. The dogs, the pool, the sweet family that cleaned everything up behind us, the fully-stocked kitchen, the wonderful beds, and beautiful bathrooms! It couldn't have been better. Thank you, Joyce, for your wonderful house. We loved Casa Mañana as well as that beautiful stretch of the Pacific coast.

BostonAmazing!

Casa Manana was amazing! The house itself is perfect (the pictures don't do it justice and it is even roomier than it looks on the site), especially if you are looking for sun and relaxation. We probably spent much more time in the pool, enjoying the rainforest and all of its life, than we should have on a four day trip to Costa Rica. The house is perfectly maintained and has every amenity you could possibly need (our baggage didn't make it from our connecting flight until a day later, but we were able to get along fine). The small town of Uvita has anything else you might want. Joyce did a great job ensuring we had everything we needed, from food at the house ready for us after our late arrival to tours set up through a local guide or a rental car delivered to us. She was very available before our trip and during our stay at Casa Manana if we needed her. This was one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever taken and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away. There is so much to explore near Uvita, but I wouldn't mind going back and splitting time between Casa Manana and the beautiful, nearby beach Playa Hermosa.
Definitely and highly recommend Casa Manana!

Luxembourg, EuropeIt was a blast
Left on 03/25/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Since it was our first time in Costa Rica we did not really know what to expect and were a little bit anxious as to how it would end up, but as soon as we arrived at the Casa Manana all the anxiety and stress from a long journey just fell off and we knew we had made the right choice. The House itself could not thave a better location, spotting different sorts of Monkeys right from your bedroom window cannot be topped, even though the road is a little bit rocky to get up to the property, the destination is definitely worth it and gives you the feeling of an everyday adventure ( we even made a liitle film of it), midst of a wonderful canopy, open living space and swimming pool right to your breakfast table...it was legen...wait for it...dary. As to the hospitality of our host Joyce, nobody could expect more, never had we anyone who was so concerned about our well-being, checking in regularly if everything was okay, always eager to make us feel comfortable...like having a caretaker in Heaven, fabulous. Located in the village of Cahuita, this property brings you the "Pura Vida" feeling right to the doorstep... We (our little traveling party) could not agree more on the fact that choosing the Casa Manana from Joyce for our stay in Costa Rica was the best we could do and sincerely it was never that hard to end a vacation...would we go back to Costa Rica? Yes, but definitely to Casa Manana again. in a few words: It was a blast Thanks again for the wonderful experience ... we still miss it. Danny & Nathalie

Everything about Casa Manana was wonderful. We loved the open air concept and what a joy it was to wake up in the mornings and essentially commune with nature when we opened our bedroom doors. Beautiful flowers, toucans, geckos--it was always a pleasant surprise to see which animals would be on "display." For those who love to cook (as do we), the kitchen was fully equipped with every appliance and utensil needed to prepare your meals. We loved opening the shutters over the kitchen sink and taking in the spectacular jungle view. The bathrooms were all beautiful with the hand painted sinks and lovely tile work. Scenic murals graced the walls throughout the house. There is a lovely patio off one of the bedrooms that provides a quiet spot to get away and enjoy the natural surroundings. The outdoor living space is large with comfortable lounge chairs and dining area. The pool was one of our favorite spots and provided welcome relief at the end of a busy day. This home was a delight and we would love to come back for an even longer stay. In terms of the location: we loved Uvita (just south of Domincal) and the location was excellent for visiting neighboring Marina Ballena, Dominical, Osa Mountain, waterfalls, ziplines etc. We used Verde Diaimonte for our aTV tour, Osa canopy for the zipline, and Dominical Surf adventures for our rafting trip down the Cota Brus river. The grocery stores are 5 minutes away, and delightful restaurants such as Exotica await you in Ojachal--just south of Uvita. Give this house and location your serious consideration. Joyce, the owner, is gracious and a very helpful source of advice. Uvita is untouched and completely non-commercial. You will feel immersed in Costa Rican culture and beauty!

Wilmington, North CarolinaCasa Manana, Life without walls or barriers...
Left on 11/19/2011 for a stay in September 2011
My husband and I recently had the opportunity to stay at Casa Manana for several weeks. Costa Rica's Southern Pacific Zone is rich with unbelievable flora, fauna and wildlife and this house's unique design marries the amazing outdoors with all the comforts of indoor living, just without the walls. Between watching the monkeys in the trees over the breakfast patio in the morning, or listening to the toucans and parrots calling from the trees over the pool in the afternoon, or discovering all the rare and exotic flowers in the breathtaking flower gardens surrounding the house, it was hard to find a reason to ever go out. But when we needed to go out, grocery stores, restaurants, beaches and every other amenity we needed was literally within a couple minutes drive, making it extremely comfortable. And no 4 wheel drive was needed... We gladly recommend Casa Manana to all!
