Colorado, USAGreat Location... Condo and building - not so much
Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in January 2013
The unit and building itself is in desperate need of updating. At night, the building was very noisy – not sure if it was the heating equipment or what, but you can hear some machinery all night long. Sound insulation was also non-existent and you can hear everything from your next door (or upstairs) neighbors to every little sound outside.
The bathroom was brand new, which we appreciated a lot. The main bedroom was not too bad either.
The rest of the unit was old and outdated starting from the kitchen with the stove similar to what you can see in “That 70s show” to the countertop made of wood. Green colored and probably original cabinetry were also a sore sight. Fan above the stove wasn’t working either – wasn’t a huge deal, but it’d be nice to have it.
The fireplace in the middle of the living room, which, I assume, can be considered “a cozy touch”, was a in reality a trip hazard with sharp edges taking space in not so large room. The wind was blowing through the windows as if there were not there. Luckily, the heater worked very nicely and could compensate for it if you stay away from the windows. While a leather couch in the living room was a nice touch, putting a sleeper there would make so much more sense! In our situation, it’d save some of our party sleeping in the “spare room” which wasn’t really well designed to be a living quarter.
The “spare room”, which was probably a mud room at some point, has a double bunk beds with the space barely enough for the stairs to climb to the top bed. The stairs were not even attached to the bed making climbing up or down a dangerous endeavor. Lighting there (along with power outlets) looked strange to say the least. Two lights attached to the bed (one on each level) none of which we managed to turn on and the outlets next to the ceiling probably left there from original design. They even managed to install a small old CRT TV on the bottom level with the remote control somehow on the top level tied by a cord. The sliding door in the “spare room” was very purely isolated so whoever was sleeping on the bottom side of the bunk bed was always cold at night.
I can’t remember the last time we were given an actual key to the room instead of the magnetic card. In fact, there were two of them – one for the front door (with another building entrance on the other side always open and not requiring the key) and one to the room. It always amazed me how places charging significant amounts for rent don’t like to invest in upgrades – it’d make our lives much easier if we hadn’t had to keep opening the door with the key (the way it’s designed you can’t easily do it with one hand) and propping it open with the brick conveniently found next to it when loading and unloading the car.
I can only say good things about the front desk that tried hard to accommodate us the best they could and even offered to weather seal the sliding door in the spare room when we complained. They also had hard time finding the password for WiFi but eventually found it and it was working relatively reliably.
Would we rent there again? Probably not. As much as we loved the location – 5 min walk to the new gondola for skiing and literally around the corner from the heart of Vail village, the price for the condo was too steep for what you get.Response from Christiania at Vail - 01/14/2013

This unit is not part of Christiania Lodge. The Christiania Lodge is a very nice Bavarian Lodge. This Villa Valhalla unit 11 is part of the Vail Village Collection.
Thank you so much for your review... The owner of this unit is always open to recommendations. We will pass along...

Colorado SpringsA wonderful stay in the best location in Vail!

This is a very nice place for two people with a couple of kids. The location cannot be beaten. You are right in the middle of the village, close to shops and great restaurants from high end to pizza and Mexican food. You are about a block from the VistaBahn! Plus, you have a heating swimming pool right out your back door. Service from the Christiania is first class.

My husband and I were visiting our daughter who lives in Denver; thought we'd take an overnight trip to Vail.
Check-in went smoothly; Liked the quaint feel of the condo, but windows and blinds were not only dirty, but windows were difficult to open. Had to open them because it was a hot day and didn't find out until we were already there, that the unit had no air conditioning. In that case, screens should be put in so windows can be left open to let air in. It definitely is an older unit, but I was aware of that before we rented and because of the price and only for one night I went ahead. If we were staying longer, I would most likely rethink staying there unless unit was renovated and kept spotless (kitchen was very clean though). However, the location was wonderful; we were right in Vail Village so appreciated being able to walk around there. Thank you. -

DenverGreat location, Great Price, Needs New Bed!
Left on 06/16/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The staff at the Christiana was great- very polite, helpful, and responsive. The value of this place is good, given its location to the Village. I expected the place to be a bit rundown and in need of updating, based on the price, and it was. However, the bed is unacceptable- the mattress is in desperate need of replacement and my poor husband spent two sleepless nights constantly sliding into the dip in the center. Otherwise, we enjoyed our visit.

Our stay at this lovely unit was very nice. The place has a very homey feel and we enjoyed the fireplace and liked having the flexibility of the kitchen. The pool was very nice as well. The one negative I have is that the unit is noisy. Some young people who had clearly been drinking somehow got into the building after midnight and made quite a bit of racquet in the hall way. Traffic driving by was also heard in the early morning. Over all we did enjoy our stay.

Boston, MAGreat location!
Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in February 2011
This condo is in a perfect spot in Vail Village, very close to the Vista Bahn lift and the center of the village. The bathroom and kitchen are a bit dated looking, but all appliances are relatively new and in good shape. The "sleeping loft"/2nd bedroom was a bit tight for our two teenage girls, but we were there to ski, not to hang around in the bedrooms. The master bedroom is nicely furnished. Access to the 4-season outdoor pool through the 2nd bedroom is very easy.

NY, NYA stellar Vail experience. Snow, sun and fun!
Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in February 2011
The Christiana lodge and their warm, knowledgeable and gracious staff made our Vail experience amazing. They couldn't have been more kind or helpful. After a day of mountain play nothing can beat the Christiana's private hot pool or their on-site washing machines. My daughter's favorite thing was the bunk bed in her all so cozy bedroom that overlooked the pool--or maybe it was that the lift was only steps away from our door. Couldn't ask for more.

We loved the big hot pool! The staff was super friendly, esp the reception desk (all of them). Place is very conveniently located-- a stone's throw away from the lifts and the shuttle. Cheap parking also. It's a few blocks away from the clubs, bars and restaurants in Vail Village, so you can actually soak in the pool first if you want, before going for your apres ski drinks at Vendettas!

Great location, close to ski lifts, shopping and food. Nice cosy condo. Fireplace is a plus. Only complaint was the electric base board heat couldn't keep the condo warm. Although the high temp for the day was -9 f. Even the 2nd day at +10 f condo barely made it to 60.
