We had an incredible time staying at Christiana Lodge. Our beds were very comfortable, the service was great. Our only trouble was that the door was hard to lock/unlock. But we loved all of the details such as the bath robes in the rooms, the snacks in the lobby, the tea in the fire room. We also loved the outdoor hot tub pool and getting to sit there and watch the stars and the slopes. The location was great, very central in the Vail town and near great restaurants. Overall, it was fantastic!
Does someone know where our room is?

We arrived late evening to receive incredibly poor directions from the night desk clerk, to our 2-BR unit across the hall from the Coldwell-Banker real estate office, about 3 blocks from the main lodge. After finding a parking space in the separate underground structure, which itself is about a block-and-a-half from the main lodge, and requires 2 different codes to get in, depending on whether you drive or walk into it (2 different doors), our party of 4 found ourselves lost in the middle of Vail Village, lugging our baggage, and had to call the clerk on the phone, only to receive additional incorrect directions. He insisted that if we walked as far as the Coldwell-Banker sign, that we had gone too far, when in fact the entry is exactly where the Coldwell-Banker sign is displayed. After travelling the entire day to get to Vail, this misdirection added another 45 minutes to the trip. They could easily print a map and written directions to handle this. The unit itself was comfortable, a large 2 BR apartment with cozy furnishings. The TV in the master bedroom didn't seem to work - something was off about the way it was hooked up to the cable service - the TV in the living room was fine.
Stay somewhere else in Vail Village

We stayed in Plaza Lodge unit 4 the last weekend in June, and found it to be nearly uninhabitable. The unit (3br, 3ba) was well equipped, and although somewhat dated, the furnishings were all high quality and everything worked. The unit is not airconditioned, however, which was a huge issue on a hot summer weekend, and which the management failed to mention during several advance phone calls. Running the fans full time made it warm but almost bearable at night, but it was an oven during the day - so much so that we couldn't be indoors. The location of the unit was terrible. First, although it's in the heart of Vail Village, it's in a pedestrian-only area, so we had to drag all of our stuff two blocks through town to get there. Second, this unit is located on top of a pizza restaurant, so the entire unit smelled constantly of pizza, and the floor of one of the bathrooms was hot to the touch because it was over the pizza oven (and this was on an already-hot weekend...). The master bedroom windows open onto the pizza place's second-floor outdoor dining area, so we had folks eating (and drinking, quite clearly) six feet from our bedroom window (which we had to keep open in order to run the fan) until almost 2 am. For about $350/night, there are much better places to stay in Vail!
A great place to stay in Vail

This is my third stay at the Christiana Lodge and as always the accommodation was excellent and the staff very helpful.
Overpriced , shabby lodge in Vail
Left on 03/29/2013 for a stay in March 2013 | Bill Krissoff
I stayed in a dingy, shabby, partially sub-basement room at the Christiania last week. The room was dark, cramped, poorly lit. The queen bed mattress was in major need of replacement. The sofa bed in the sitting room was totally unsatisfactory. The bathrooms had been remodeled and were okay. There was absolutely no sound-proofing in the building and I could not sleep each night because of guests in the room above. Very poor value for money- $275 on nite and $325 the next.
The breakfast buffet was quite good however and the staff were helpful and friendly. The location is very close to the main gondola at Vail.

The Christiania is a very friendly lodge, for me it is my second home and I am made to feel at home by everyone who works at the lodge.

We've been visiting the Christiania every summer for 13 years. We've even chosen the same room the past 5. We always enjoy our stay as the room is always in excellent shape, the weather is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. We've almost always visited in the summer but skied once in the winter as well. The Christiania is a great destination with unparalleled access to everything Vail has to offer.

The Christiania at Vail is beautiful with all it's colorful flowers and European style deco. It's cozy, very clean, my room was a home away from home, I loved it! When we arrived for check-in we were greeted by a very friendly man that was at the front desk and also on our check-out. They were very helpful with directions. I will for sure make reservations again when I am in Vail.

Christiana is a very nice little place to spend some time, and in May, the avalue was exceptional. Vail is wonderful to be at any time of the year, but May is much nicer and quieter than winter or summers. The hosts made us fell very wlecomed and looked after all our needs. I ll definately return.
a nice place to be

The queen bed was a little too small and the mattress was uncomfortable. The unit felt a little small.

We've done a week long get away to the Christiania every year for the last 10-12 years. We usually go in august but we did go for skiing once. We always love the experience. There is no better location in Vail. The staff is always wonderful.

We love the Christiana and have stayed there several times before. The only complaint we had was that neither DVD player worked (there were 2 in our suite). My children were disappointed. But other than that, everything was wonderful.
