Additional Location Information
The Trout Lake Suite is perfectly located at the entrance to Trout Lake Park (or "John Hendry Park"), a beautiful 65-acre green space in the heart of Vancouver that has something for everyone - a playground, lake and beach for kids; a walking path and picnic areas for romantic getaways; an off-leash area and dog beach for pet owners; and a brand new community centre and rink for sports-minded travelers.
It's an urban oasis that’s perfect for walks, runs, picnics, play or quiet downtime – and makes for a wonderfully scenic route to the shops and restaurants of Commercial Drive.
And every Saturday from May until October, you can also take a stroll through the legendary Trout Lake Farmers Market, where you can pick up fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, cheeses, baked goods, prepared foods, plants and gifts from local growers and producers.
A short walk, drive or bus away is Commercial Drive, one of the most vibrant and colourful neighbourhoods in Vancouver – and a favourite for residents and tourists alike.
Located minutes from downtown and lined with an eclectic mix of coffee shops, fashionable clothing stores, independent book and music shops, award-winning restaurants, produce markets, a movie theatre, and favourite live music and theatre venues, Commercial Drive – or “The Drive” as locals call it – is often described as Vancouver’s Greenwich Village, and wins comparisons to Paris’ Rive Gauche for its stylish, bohemian flair.
Ranked one of the 10 hippest neighbourhoods in North America by Utne Reader, and used as a backdrop in the Oscar-winning film Juno, Commercial Drive is also a close-knit community that welcomes people of all colours, creeds, languages and ages, and from all corners of the world.
Because it’s home to much of the city’s Italian population, you won’t have to travel far to pick up an authentic pizza or a perfect espresso. In summer, it’s also where you’ll find outdoor markets and vibrant summer street festivals – but there are always plenty of quiet corners where you can cozy up with a latte and a great book.

Left on 06/18/2013 for a stay in June 2013
We wanted somewhere to relax when we had tired ourselves out exploring Vancouver and this suite was absolutely wonderful. It was clean, quiet at night and it had everything we needed. Jen and Jean were super friendly hosts who gave us tips of things to do and how to get around. The skytrain station is just a few minutes walk away and from there it's quick and easy to head into the city. We also enjoyed spending lazy evenings in the park across the road.
I would recommend this suite to anyone and would love to stay again if I ever have the chance. -

When we set out on our month long holiday we were a little concerned as we had never stayed in holiday rentals before.
Trout Lake was certainly an excellent introduction to this type of accommodation.
The suite was lovely with a private entrance and a sunny welcoming interior. The suite was well equipped and the owners had taken great care in stocking the unit with everything a person might need.
The unit has a great location across from a beautiful park and the surrounding community is filled with interesting shops and restaurants with character. However, the best part of our experience was the owners themselves. They were extremely accommodating and very interested in what we were doing. They had numerous suggestions of things to do, places to go and things to see.
All in all this is a great place to stay and it will certainly be our destination when next we visit Vancouver. -

We wanted to park the car, see the city and still have some place for the big dog to exercise. This is the place for all of those things. We loved the location - it's 10 minutes from downtown - and the accommodations were lovely and quiet. Trout Lake is across the street and a great friendly dog park - Moose had a blast meeting his Canadian counterparts. Homeowners Jen and Jean provided great suggestions on sites to see and transportation options. Walking distance to public transportation, great restaurants and shops. And you couldn't ask for more gracious and kind people to work with. Stay here if you want to experience the city from a comfortable, quiet environment with a beautiful 65 acre park across the street.

Very very nice place and very very nice host. Jen is very accommodating and thoughtful. Always ready to assist but more importantly, not intrusive. Everything you need is in their house, it's very clean and well-maintained. We also appreciate that she gave us some freshly baked goodies for Christmas. This will be our home in Vancouver. Will definitely stay there again if I go back to Vancouver. And will definitely recommend this place to friends.

If you are looking for a home away from home and an adventure in a fabulous city, look no more.
The apartment is cozy, with lots of light, great fireplace, a well stocked kitchen if you are here for the long haul (we were here a month). The owners are respectful of your privacy but available should you need anything. It sits across from a beautiful park and community center (great for kids and dogs). Transit is nearby and takes you into the city within minutes, but the neighborhood itself is arguably the most interesting in the city. I would stay here again in a minute...oh, and ask Jen to make you some cinnamon roles. -

Left on 03/15/2013 for a stay in January 2013
This is the place that we will definatly recommend to our families and friends. A real "bijou" with all the facilities that your holiday requires ! We just couldn't imagine a better place. Warm, trendy, safe, clean, cool designed, perfectly equiped and the cherry on top of the cake is the kindness of the owners, Jen and Jean. They know how to help you and they are very reactive. The basement is very well positionned, 1 minute walk away from a bus stop, 15min away from the center of Vancouver, right in front of a park just to go for a walk, of a community center to go ice skating, very close to many restaurants and for those who'd like to have nice breaky out of the house, 200m away from the very friendly "Lybie's cofee" place. Ow, and guess what, on the evening you have a wonderful view on the ski runs !!! Yes, it's kind of a dream, eyes opened ! We will definatly go back !

My husband and 19 month old daughter stayed at Trout Lake suite for 3 nights on-route from australia to Edmonton in December 2012 and had a lovely stay in Vancouver at Trout Lake suite. The suite was very well appointed (and I am fussy!), warm and inviting and even had some lovely Christmas lights up to celebrate the season! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Vancouver and would definitely stay there again if we head back to Vancouver.

Nanaimo, BCOur New Favourite In Vancouver!
Left on 02/04/2013 for a stay in January 2013
This suite exceeded our expectations and we plan to make it our home base in Vancouver whenever we can! We have two small children (ages 4 and 3) and Jen and Jean welcomed them with teddy bears, balloons, crayons and an assortment of colouring books, activity books and stickers. It made the kids feel so special and welcome, and our whole family really appreciated the gesture. It has been said before in other reviews, but it is the truth-staying at the Trout Lake Suite really is like staying with family.
We stayed for three days in late January, 2013, and even in the rainy days of winter we were so impressed with how light and bright this unit is. The large windows and colourful art really made the place cheery. The bed, cot and couch were all extra-comfy and the kitchen had everything a person could possibly need-even measuring cups and spoons. The bathroom is small (as is ours at home) but it never felt cramped due to the happy décor and excellent use of space. There were plenty of big fluffy towels and lots of places to hang them up.
The location is one of the big draws with this place, and as we expected our kids were delighted by the proximity to the park. We spent hours at the playground and walking around Trout Lake with friends. The community centre had tons of activities going on and it was such a fun atmosphere. We can't wait to return in the summer-the suite will be so handy for trips to the farmers' market and music in the park. Also, there is an additional playground going in by the community centre-even more fun for our kids!
We did most of our own cooking or ate at the homes of friends and family, but we did pop in to the nearby coffee shop, Libby's. The staff was so friendly and our coffees and Panini sandwiches were perfect.
We are so pleased to have found this gem of a vacation rental so close to Commercial Drive, so family-friendly and so much like a real home. Thank you Jen and Jean-we will see you again soon!

We have loved our home away from home! The hosts are wonderful people who have a fantastic knowledge of Vancouver, were always willing to help and were sweet enough to put a couple of personal touches for our daughters 2nd birthday.
The suite had everything we needed for our week's stay, from a well-catered kitchen that enabled us to cook every night to a toy box with outdoor equipment and coloring books and crayons.
Its location was perfect with a short walk to the Skytrain, buses, supermarket, cafes and laundromat. Being right across the road from a park that had a lake and children's playground was perfect, and our daughter spent many happy hours playing in the sand and paddling in the water.
We would highly recommend this suite, and will definitely stay here again, in part to enable us to catch up with Jen & Jean again. -

My sister and stayed here in august of this year and really enjoyed ourselves. The rental was very well kept and provided all that we needed...internet, kitchen supplies, comfortable furniture, beautiful setting, etc. We enjoyed having the park across the street and easy parking right in front of the house. Very convenient. Jen & Jean were very gracious and we would definitely consider staying here again on a return trip to Vancouver.

This apartment was the last stay of our amazing round trip in Canada and we could not have spent these days any better. We really loved the apartment!. The owners are friendly and very helpful. The apartment itself is bright, quiet, clean and comfortable. It is located near downtown (few stops by public transport and also easily accessable by car) and right across a lovely park. The Commercial Drive nearby is ideal for shopping and relaxing. All in all, this apartment is the perfect option for a stay in Vancouver with a great value for money. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay at the very convenient condo. Well located, close to everything.
We appreciated very much the help Jen and Jean provided.
The internet amenities are excellent; the computer is provided; no need to bring your own.
Most usefull, provided by Jen, all the links of things to do and visit and where to eat. We were there for seven days, mid-august 2012, we never had a boring day.
Thank you Jen and Jean for letting us enjoy the condo.

Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Great location for getting to anywhere in Vancouver. The ground floor apartment had every possible thing you could need, comfy furniture, beds, plenty of towels, fridge freezer etc (no dishwasher however). Jennifer and Jean, exceptionally friendly hosts, even supplied all the toiletteries you need. The apartment was also very, very clean and quiet so after a very busy day you always managed to get a good sleep. We took our laptop as there is free internet access at the apartment. The neighbourhood is also "funky", Commercial Drive around the block, Whole Foods, MEC and beaches are within about 10-20 mins drive and makes a great end to a busy day watching the sun going down. Overall we could not recommend this apartment more, we all thought it was perfect and if we need to find somewhere else in Vancouver again this will definitely be the place. Great value for money!

Friendly communication. We were really catered To as a family with a 5 & 9 year old with toys, coloring books puzzles and movies. Even an extra Teddy in case one was left at home. There was also a jar of freshly ground coffee as well as other staples like sugar, salt, oil, vinegar and mini chocolate bars for those late night sweet cravings. The suite was clean, comfortable and bright. A lovely little garden sitting area out in front was very relaxing. The park just outside the front gate was great! The park hosts a most amazing summer market on Saturdays, it was a real treat and a fun way to spend our day. Everything we needed was close by. I would say this is a perfect home base for anyone exploring and visiting Vancouver with kids and a pet because of the wonderful park just outside the door. That is what we loved. There is even a year round ice rink right across the street. We also really loved the friendly and welcoming feeling we got when we booked the suite and arrived to see what care was taken to make everyone feel at home:)

I spent the first week of July 2012 in the apartment and loved it! The owners, Jen and Jean, are very friendly and helpful, and were there immediately if I had any questions or needed anything. The apartment is newly renovated and is very bright, comfortable, and quiet, and is in an amazing location right across from a park and brand new recreation centre. It is easy to get to downtown and to the ocean. The things I liked best were the amazing service, that it felt very comfortable, clean and safe, and the location is perfect!

This was the first time I have ever travelled out of the U.S., and stayed at the suite with my mom and 3 children. The Trout Lake suite was so wonderful, and perfect for our travels. We stayed 3 nights, and everything we wanted to see was within 20 minutes of the suite. It was so nice to be able to go out all day, and come back to the suite and fix dinner for my family, and then put on a movie for the kids as they wound down for the night. Jen was amazing, and was so helpful, kind and accommodating. It felt like we had known her for years!
The suite was so perfect, and even accommodated the 5 of us comfortably. It was so special too that Jen left color books, crayons, and balloons to welcome the kids and help them feel at home. Jen helped show the kids where to take out the trash, and gave us a map of all the local attractions, and told us the best places to visit based on our travel style.
When we left, Jen and Jean were there to say goodbye, and wish us well on our journey. The location was perfect with the park across the street, and it was like staying with friends, but yet having the privacy of our own suite. We were definitely spoiled, and will not stay anywhere else but here when we travel to Vancouver again. Thank you so much! -

We have just returned from a 3 day stay at this wonderful spot. My husband and I feel so fortunate to have found this "gem" of accommodation. The suite is immaculate, bright and comfortable. Jen has done a wonderful job in making her guests feel that they are truly in a home away from home. The location, close to all city transit, is perfect in that a stroll around Trout Lake which is across the street, definitely rounds out the Vancouver experience. On street parking is a bonus! Any future tips to Vancouver to visit family will be booked around "availability" at this place.

Trout Lake Suite is the perfect accommodation for a short term stay. We loved the area with its beautiful mountain view. Access to downtown tourist destinations was just a Skytrain ride away. The suite was well appointed with the comforts of home as well as the hightech needs of today's world - a beautiful Mac computer and wifi. Jen was available if needed yet completely unobtrusive. We will definitely return and will recommend it to friends.

Our three-night stay in Vancouver was greatly enhanced by getting to stay in Jen's cozy unit. It was clean, bright, and modern, and fully equipped for condo living. The location right across the street from the brand new recreation center and ice skating rink was a huge bonus (we brought out skates), and the park/lake is wonderful for walking. The light rail into downtown is within easy walking distance, and there are plenty of artsy-district shops and cafes of every ethnicity in the neighborhood. Perfect location. Best of all was Jen's gracious and generous attention (fresh flowers, puzzles, books and goodies for our child), and her expert advice on things to do in Vancouver. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else next time I'm in Vancouver.

I travelled very far (from Taiwan) to visit one of our adopted dog-Cidaq, a 3-legged husky. I took him on a short break to stay in this beautiful suite which is near Trout Lake Park. The host Jen and Jean were very helpful in giving all the assistance and information to ensure our pleasant stay. The suite was elegantly decorated and conveniently located near the shopping area. Why staying in a hotel when you have an affordable home-away-from-home that makes you feel at ease like your own real home? Whether it is for a solo traveller or a family, this is a great choice!

Left on 02/12/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Jennifer and her husband were super accommodating and lovely to work with. We wished we could take advantage of more of Jennifers recommendations! There's also a nice selection of brochures and Jennifer was always available over email to give directions and advice about getting around town. The suite had everything we needed for a week long stay. My husband stayed on for a while longer and appreciated the kitchen and computer to use. Trout Lake Park is a great place to spend a sunny Vancouver afternoon and the suite is right at the entrance.
It is a bit of a walk to the "main" part of Commercial Drive, which from what we could tell was past the train station, but it's not bad. Also right at the train station was a grocery and drug store, which was convenient. It might be worth noting that if you're not much of a walker, there's a bus you can take, too. We love to wander a city so it was honestly no problem for us. We had a rental car as well, and parking was super convenient right outside the suite, although we only used the car once to get to Grouse Mountain (which we found out later is totally accessible by public transportation).
We stayed in January, which is an admittedly cold time of year, but there was a "fireplace" and space heater that warmed the place up nicely.
Overall a great value! -

We stayed for almost two weeks in this fantasic property in June 2011. The property went above and beyond our expectations. The home is clean, well kept and everything is provided for you, all you need to do is sit back and enjoy. Our main reason for staying was to sell up everything before relocating back to australia and the owners helped us more than we could ever have hoped. They even gave us ideas on where to go to watch the Stanley Cup finals. It was close enough to walk to the skytrain or enjoy a beautiful walk in the park. I highly recommend staying here for a wonderful vacation!

I look forward to returning to my new home away from home whenever I come back to Vancouver.
