      Peaceful

Left on 04/06/2011 for a stay in August 2010

We had an excellent week, the weather was reasonable and the windmill welcoming...but...all those stairs were killing and not for the faint hearted and anyone with health problems. The neighbouring farmers (eggs, merguez sausages, tomatoes and lamb ) were very friendly and helpful. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

      Great Holiday

Left on 03/21/2011 for a stay in September 2010

A very tranquil and relaxing spot close to a number of good day trips (Vouvant Forest, Ile de re, Puy du Fou). Drove from Calais in a day, just about do-able. Bring a bike and some board games. Accomodation is not going to suit everybody but certainly makes for a rememerable experience.

      A unique relaxing holiday

Left on 03/20/2011 for a stay in July 2009

A fantastic, unique relaxing holiday in an unusual holiday rental.
The silence of the countryside only broken by the local sheep entering the fields surrounding the windmill.
The local villagers were friendly and there were facilities to purchase fresh eggs and meat.
Great location. we visited in a restored Triumph Spitfire so had great fun in the local area and surrounding countryside.
An excellent way to experience the real France.
Romantic for couples. A great place to stay with loads of places of interest and beauty near by.
Would recommend to others and would like to think we will return in the future.

      Tranquil Escape

Left on 03/20/2011 for a stay in May 2009

This was possibly one of the most relaxing weekend getaways I've had for years. Located close to some great spots, like vouvont and la rochelle. Staying at the windmill was incredibly quiet, in a field just out of the main little town. The closest neighbour was a charismatic cow with a excitable calf. The place is quirky and nicely decked out. The only issue was that it felt and smelt a little damp, coming from the kitchen on the ground floor, but was ok after we put the heating on. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from it all.

Response from Sally Herbert - 03/20/2011

This was my first booking and the windmill was still 'bedding in', hence the slight damp smell.... since then an electric air vent and more heating has been added along with many other improvements! I am also letting the mill year round so it will benefit from being opened and aired regularly. I thank you for your comments and hope to be able to welcome you back again sometime in the future.

Enchanting windmill in quiet rural setting

Left on 03/18/2011 for a stay in August 2010

Good quality accommodation in a lovely rural environment.
Everything that you could think of in a self catering let is provided, both inside and out. An idyllic and quiet area of France with good beaches nearby as well as superb restaurants in nearby villages.
