Rockville, MarylandGreat Place to Stay
Left on 04/18/2013 for a stay in April 2013
This was a very nice condo that was close to the beach. I stayed here with my two teenage kids, and it was great. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped. If I return to Venice Beach, I will rent this condo again.

VancouverBrand New, Tasteful, and Great Location
Left on 04/01/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This unit is even nicer than the photos indicate. It is tastefully contemporary and it feels much larger than its stated 680 sq.ft.. Everything is new and you can tell that Ray, the owner, didn't skimp on the furnishings, bedding, and appliances. The layout worked well for our family of three. The bedroom is private and has a very comfy king bed and lots of closet space. My teenage son claims that the sofa bed in the living room was comfortable. Although we only made breakfasts, the kitchen is really well stocked if you want to cook a nice meal (and has a pleasant eating nook that seats four) . There are plenty of fluffy bath towels supplied as well as beach towels. Internet connection was great and the unit has two large flat screen TVs (though there's so much to do, we rarely used them).
The location is awesome: just 2 blocks up from the beach and steps away from Washington ave. where there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance. We rented bikes at Perry's, on the beach at the end of Washington, and enjoyed exploring Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Marina del Rey, and the Venice canals. I actually preferred this location to being right in the hub of Venice Beach, which is fun to visit, but a bit loud and frenzied as a place to stay. Ray's unit is on a quiet street and it is a very serene place to come home to after a day of sightseeing.
It was very easy booking through Ray. He is prompt in answering inquires and provides thorough instructions with respect to the unit and access. He lives in the unit upstairs so if you have any questions or concerns, he is easy to contact. The unit contains a large assortment of brochures about la attractions which is helpful. One thing Ray might consider is to prepare a small info guide with his own recommendations on restaurants, grocery stores, local market days, attractions, etc. (useful for guests and gives a personal touch).
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this rental, and if we visit la again (hope so) we will definitely book Ray's unit. Thank you! -

ReykjavikExactly what we wanted
Left on 03/24/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Had a great stay here in February and would definitely recommend it. The unit itself suited us perfectly, the location was great and the unit really had absolutely everything we could possibly need. A few minutes drive to a late night supermarket was definitely useful for us and the location was great for going for a jog as well. Santa Monica is walkable from here, but the stroll takes a good while. As previous reviews have mentioned, the owner, Ray, is a great host and we found him always both helpful and happy. If we get the chance to travel to la again for a break, I'm pretty sure we'll want to stay here agin.

Helsinki, FinlandExcellent value for the price, helpful landlord, perfect locatio
Left on 11/09/2012 for a stay in November 2012
I travelled alone, stayed for 5 nights in November.
As I do not like hotel rooms, I always try to find an apartment when travelling. This one was perhaps the best ever, and excellent value for the price.
"Best ever" because of the personal service before and during my stay. Among others.
I did not test the tub, but everything useful for me worked perfectly:
- the TVs (two of them, with sports channels and everything - and landlord Ray even helped me to find the channel with the match I wanted to see!!),
- the kitchen (with complementary coffee!),
- the Wi-Fi,
- the bed (bed linen 100 % Egyptian cotton!!!),
- the safe,
- the phone,
- the washing machine and the dryer (you do not have to bring your own washing detergent with you).
Ray even let me borrow his nephew's (if I remember right, it was his newphew's) hippie cruiser bike, (without which I wouldn't have made it to my destination on time one busy morning...)!!
And yes: it's just a five minute walk to the beach :)
The wooden floor and the furniture, the decoration etc. is made to please anyone who likes the Northern European style.
P.S. I did not notice until now: the apartment seems to be closest to Marina del Rey and Venice, not Santa Monica, according to Google maps. It did not bother me, though, as I chose this one because of the recommendations and the location - by looking at the map. -

seattleWhat a great place
Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Ray the owner has made this a top quality unit with all the fine furniture and finishes.
No detail is left out, from the comfy bed to soft towels fully appointed kitchen. This place has the quality of a five star hotel. Great location, walk to the beach and restaurants.
The only problem and I am sure Ray will address it is. The next door neighbor must be afraid of the dark... They left their bathroom light on all night and since the buildings are very close and our bedroom window is only three feet from their bathroom window, we had a bright light shining in our bedroom all night. -

Manchester, UKGreat place to spend some time
Left on 09/10/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We stayed here for 4 nights. There were 3 adults and a 3-year old in our party. The place was great for what we needed. It's only minutes walk away from restaurants and the beach. The place itself has been really tastefully funished and Ray has thought of everything...literally! The kitchen is great to cook in and has pretty much every gadget you need, there's a cute patio and BBQ. The double bedroom has a great comfortable bed and plenty of storage space.
The only downside for us was that the sofabed was really just an occasional bed - we ended up sharing the lux bedroom by having 2 nights on the sofa and 2 nights in the bed as it didn't seem fair. Also, although Ray does have a cleaner and it was definately clean - personally I think she does him a dis-service as we all had really dirty feet from walking about when we'd really just got there and the oven hadn't been cleaned from the last occupants. This isn't a reflection on Ray however as everything he's done, he's done really well and he wouldn't really know that his cleaner could be doing a better job unless he'd walked about barefoot.
All in all this is a great place and we would definately stay here again.Response from RJ Pages - 09/10/2012

Thank you for letting me know about the floors and oven.
I will make sure that these 2 items are not over looked in the future.

LakewoodA complete jewel
Left on 08/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Just spent a wonderful weekend in MDR and they stay would not have been complete had it not been for this awesome condo and the owner Ray. The rental unit itself was clean, well maintained with updated furnishings (stainless steel appliances, spa tub, leather couch, extra thread count sheets-even "the good" toilet paper!) and artwork throughout.
The owner, Ray, really thought of everything and every detail was accounted for (blanket for the beach and even provided 2% milk for my morning coffee!).
The unit has a "garden apartment" feel to it and despite being just a short stroll to the more busy area of Washington Square the place was super quiet and private too.
Didn't sleep on the pullout leather couch but the king size bed was super comfortable.
The lighting is mostly on dimmers and it's little touches like that-that really make the difference.
