This is a 3 bedroom/2 bath Main House and a separate studio Guest House loft with another bathroom. You can rent either one, or both together. Please note: When the MAIN HOUSE is booked on the calendar, the GUESTHOUSE may still be available. Please inquire.

You can rent either one, or both together, and sometimes in the off season, you can rent one or two bedrooms in the main residence.

This spacious architectural home is the ultimate Venice hideaway. Located in the heart of Venice, on a quiet tree-lined street, the famous Abbot Kinney and Marina are just steps away. Designed by noted architect, John Porter, with vaulted wood... ceilings and plenty of skylights, it’s bright and airy, and totally relaxing… In one of the best areas in Los Angeles, California, it's no wonder renowned architect, Frank Gehry, has chosen to build his own home right down the street!

Stop by the French Market Cafe for coffee & croissants, then stroll 15-20 minutes through the scenic canals to the beach. Enjoy a dinner cruise or watch the street performers on the boardwalk.

The Main House has a fully equipped kitchen that opens to a private deck, perfect for a BBQ and al fresco dining. Set in tropical gardens with mature palms, and giant birds of paradise, the deck is a tranquil setting. Indoors, you can cuddle around the cozy fireplace. Sit under the orange tree in the tropical garden and, great for a picnic or sitting by the fire pit.

In the Main House, each of the three bedrooms sleeps two; 2 queen beds and 2 twins that can made up as a king or as two singles. There is also a trundle day bed upstairs, a queen aerobed or couch available to sleep up to a total of 10 guests.

In the Guest House, there is a queen bed and a modular couch that can be put together to form a double bed, with a memory foam pillow topper. There is also an aerobed to sleep up to 6 guests.

Many say this is their favorite place; we have lots of repeat guests!

Three night minimum on the weekends.

AMENITIES

Amenities include: free wireless internet, off street parking, tropical gardens, firepit, BBQ, fireplace, plasma TV, cable, DVD, washer/dryer, a large deck, and an espresso machine! Linens and towels are provided.

ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS, MINUTES AWAY

You'll find the world-famous Venice Beach Boardwalk on the beach! On Abbot Kinney Blvd. there are plenty specialty shops, excellent restaurants and trendy art galleries. Just north in Santa Monica, Main Street is fun; there's the Farmer's Market, the Santa Monica Pier and Amusement Park, and the hip Third Street Promenade with shops, restaurants and movies. Just south in Marina del Rey you can take a cruise, enjoy water-side dining, and take the Flyer over to Santa Catalina Island.

It's close to everything: the canals, shopping, the Venice Boardwalk and the white sandy beach, where you'll find volleyball, biking, basketball and just about every outdoor activity, including the famous Muscle Beach. Or, head to the water for swimming, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, shelling and deep-sea fishing.

  We felt very welcome when we arrived, little things like a filled fridge & coffee after a long flight can make a big difference. The house itself has a small floorspace, but it is so well designed and full of light that it seems a lot larger then it really is. The photos on tripadvisor don't do it justice. You can sense it is a well thought-out house. Also, the location is perfect: in a very quiet suburban area yet still close to Venice Beach. Jane & Kirsten, you were very helpful and are very hospitable. Thank you.

  what a treat to stay in our very own artist loft for two weeks while voting for the academy awards. With the beautiful skylights creating a light airy space all through the day and the areas for sleeping eating and relaxing divided off in a nice way we felt totally relaxed. Our son and his girlfriend who live nearby would stop by often when we were there because they just enjoyed the space! The amenities such as CD player,TV, were very accessible and they had many wonderful CDs of,which to listen...plus many wonderful books to peruse.
  Easy parking and abbott kinney is a wonderful area to shop and eat and we even took the available bikes to the canals. The proximity to everything could not be better. We liked this area of venice so much better than the Venice beach...(it's close enough) There was only one complaint and that was that the kitchen sink is too small but I solved the problem by bringing a large plastic bowl (get one at the 99 cent store nearby)and that worked fine. We hated to leave and will be back again next year!!

  Sarah and I would love to come again sometime as a special treat. Your loft is beautiful - so spacious and comfortable. It's a real home and we appreciated having all the little extras. It was great to use the bikes to cruise to the pier and the beach. Your street is sheltered and peaceful. The neighbours are smiling and friendly. You have a vast and varied CD and book collection. It really is an oasis. We'll tell our friends.

  Hard to describe in words the wonderful feel of this place...it truly is a gem. It is close enough to the beach and canals to bike to, yet far enough away for tranquilty when needed.   My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. Jane was very nice and welcoming, and the house itself was exactly how I imagined a Venice home to be - architecturally stunning, light and airy, surrounded by a lush tropical garden. Great interior decor too - lots of interesting paintings on the walls! This house has none of that hoaky vacation rental feel - It's all done very tastefully and stylishly.   Beautiful, light, very elegantly decorated, and most of all, comfortable. Everything i wanted in a holiday hideaway. Really close to Venice Beach, which was fun. Loads of great shops nearby too. Coming from London, where you pay stupidly high prices for dingy holes, I was really impressed with how much space i got for my money. I was also very appreciative of the swift responses to all my queries. So, thanks Jane for all you help. Will come again. And soon!
