The apartment is roomy and stylish, and situated in a delightful area of narrow lanes, bridges and canals, yet within easy reach of major churches, museums and the necessary shops.
Two minor caveats. The advertised 'view' from the window is deceitful. The canal does not come that close. Was the photo taken during a flood? Or has the canal very recently been partly filled in? Despite the promise, there was no safe in the room. Or if there was it was well hidden.
The only major drawback was the promised meeting with the agent on arrival. When I booked I was told to ring a certain number after we landed at Marco Polo, and that the agent would then be waiting to meet us at San Stae vaporetto stop. I was always afraid that this number was incorrect, and before we left home I twice emailed to question its accuracy. I was assured that the given number was correct. However when I rang repeatedly from the airport I was told that the number was incorrect. We made our way to San Stae where we were lucky to meet an agent for another group. He kindly pointed out the incorrectness of the dialling instructions we had been given, and he then phoned our agent. Nonetheless we still had to wait ages for her to turn up with the keys. And when she did it was virtually impossible to speak with her as she was almost permanently on her phone or conversing with a passer-by outside the window of the apartment.
My impression was that although the owner of the apartment had created a handsome ambience, the agents were extremely cursory in their service to us. For example, although the flat lay within such a maze of tiny lanes that it was very difficult to find one's way around for a few days, there was no MAP in the flat and NO indication of where exactly we were. Nor was there any advice about where we could immediately find somewhere selling provisions, etc. A weekly cleaning of the flat was promised, but on the due day the cleaner did not appear. I had to make a telephone complaint to the agents to get this put right for the next day. The agents never contacted us to check if we needed anything, etc.
So although I recommend the flat I suggest you find a different agent
