Description from the owner
Luxury apartment, duplex, , 5 rooms, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, Separate kitchen, living room, 3 separate bathrooms. The three bedrooms have one double bed for each bedroom - the apartment can therefore accommodate 6 persons in total, in three double beds. Total surface 140 m2.
It is a very quiet, sunny place, that we renovated with passion, respecting the original conception, materials and colours, and decorated with love (I have there much furniture that I brought back from the various missions in Asia and Africa, and the Venetian gifts my wife and myself received for our wedding).
The apartment has a nice view on a canal, it is f...Read more

Additional Location Information
Located in Cannaregio, quiet, typical Venetial neigborhood. All amenities (shops, market, restaurants, bars, ATM, swimming pool, pharmacy) within 500 M radius.
Cannaregio is the northernmost of the six historic sestieri (districts) of Venice. It is the second largest sestiere by land area and the largest by population,
The Cannaregio Canal , which was the main route into the city until the construction of a railway link to the mainland, gave the district its name. Development began in the eleventh century as the area was drained and parallel canals were dredged. Although elegant palazzos were built facing the Grand Canal, the area grew primarily with working class housing and manufacturing. The history of the Ghetto of Venice is particuarly fascinating. When on March 29th, 1516 the Government of the Serenissima Repubblica issued special laws, the first Ghetto of Europe was instituted. It was an area where Jews were forced to live and which they could not leave from sunset to dawn. The area was closed by gates watched by guards and up till now the marks of the hinges are visible there. Jews were allowed to practice only some professions: they were doctors, because they were the most prepared and able to understand Arab writings, money lenders, because Catholic religion forbade this practice, merchants and "strazzarioli", ragsellers. However, Jews held successful positions in the city such as merchants, physicians, money lenders, and other trades. The Ghetto existed for more than two and a half centuries, until Napoleon conquered Venice and finally opened and eliminated every gate (1797): Jews were finally free to live in other areas of the city.
In the 19th century, civil engineers built a street named Strada Nuova through Cannaregio, and a railway bridge and road bridge were constructed to connect Venice directly to Mestre. Today, the areas of the district along the Grand Canal from the train station to the Rialto Bridge are packed with tourists, but the rest of Cannaregio is residential and relatively peaceful, with morning markets, neighborhood shops, and small cafés.

Redwood City, CaliforniaA fun, relaxing, historic, place to stay.

We stayed a month here. We were pleasantly surprised to find the apartment just as was advertised, and more. The historic apartment had been restored and renovated by the owners. We felt like we were in an exotic place, and we were...Venice. The apartment included a large beautiful fireplace in a spacious living area with dining table which was perfect for entertaining or relaxing during the day or evening. The location was right on a canal in a quiet, charming, sometimes bustling, italian neighborhood. The apartment was just above a wonderful restaurant, with many other great restaurants near by, as well as other shops in the Cannareggio district. We were in walking distance to a grocery store and water bus station, and a nice walk to all the main attractions. The owners were very and gracious towards us. They were easy to reach any time we had questions or concerns. This apartment was a large part of the wonderful experience we had in Venice.

We took a water taxi from Venice airport right to the door of the house. No trekking luggage over bridges. We were met at the door by the owner's brother who gave us the keys and helped us carry the luggage up one flight of stairs. He explained whatever we needed to know. The kitchen was already stocked with some basics such as coffee, sugar, milk, bread, butter, eggs and fruits. There was also a baby crib for our 19 month old grand-daughter. We easily walked to supermarkets, restaurants and to St. Mark's Square area. All very convenient. On our departure, we were helped again to bring all the luggage downstairs to our water taxi to the cruise port.

We had a wonderful time in Venice staying in this apartment. For starters, you can park by the windows and watch the people and the boats for hours. The restaurant below is very good and the staff even better-they turned out to be our friends during our stay. The neighborhood is super.
The apartment is although a bit quirky, like lots of rentals can be. Everything was as listed although one of the beds was very short and not especially comfortable. Also, we never could use the wifi- something wrong with the passcode or something, but we didn't pursue it with the owner...after all, it is Venice and there is plenty to do without using a computer.
All in all, the apartment is super- could do with some new beds and pillows, but that is always a problem with rentals. -

Wonderful vacation in a charming home located in a very strategical position! My husband, my little daughter and me stayed there for one week in february during carnival days. The house, wondefully restored, is big and comfortable and the athmosphere inside the house is really magical. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms! You can sleep beyond ancient and magnificent chinese doors, or in a romantic oriental bed, earing water whispering coming from the canal. Otherwise you can choose the ultra romantic underroof. The living zone is huge (with two very big sofas) and comfortable. You can also light your fire in big and old-fashioned camino. But what's really worth the stay is the strategical position: La Sensa is located in the Ghetto, few minute walking from all the most strategical position (railway station and San Marco, for instance). A very magical vacation in the most beautiful city in the world lived, staying in a house that makes you forget you have to go out to live the magic!

We stayed there 9 days with 4 kids from 14 to 5.Very nice location, in a very venitian part of the city, quite and away from the crowed places.
Beautifully decorated. Very comfortable. All you need for six people, including wash and dish machine, what is very valuable if you stay more than two or three days. Three bedrooms and two very nice bathrooms. A modern kitchen totally equiped. The view on the little canal, in front of the house, in the morning or in the evenning is just great. The restaurant just below is quite.
Mr. Regnaulf is very willing to make your stay comfortable and was for example very helpfull when I had a little internet access problem. This is an rental I would certainly recommand. -
