Description from the owner

Our offer is for a modern flat refurbished few years ago. It's located in the Sestiere of Dorsoduro, on the first floor of a typical detached Venetian house. Close to it stands the church of San Sebastian and the house overlooks a large Campo (typical venetian square) where children can play.

To enter the flat you have to pass through an entrance hall which can be used just by another flat and where there is also a cellar. In the flat there is a living-room with a double-bed couch, a large bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom whit shower.

The flat is really bright and, differently from most Venetian flats, it has windows overlooking...Read more

    Additional Location Information

    The surroundings
The flat is next to the church of St. Sebastian, its overlooks a "Campo" (small square). It is in Sestier of Dorsoduro, one of the six boroughs of Venice and one of the liveliest. This borough is inhabited by local people all year round. It is the seat of the architecture university. Not far from here stands "Campo Santa Margherita", one of the most pictoresque squares, always full of students and young architects. ("Bar Rosso" and "Caffè Duchamp" are well known meeting places).
This square offer the possibility to go shopping in a supermarket, a take-away pizza and a little library. Close to the square ther's also a Jazzclub.
As the square is far from the typical Venetian channels, children can play here freely. In case you accept our offer, we would be glad to recommend you some typical restaurants.
A one minute walk from the flat, there is the "Zattere" a long promenade on the Giudecca Channel. In the sunny days, you can seat there, read books, sunbathing and let your children play freely. There you can find as well a cheap supermarket, where we normally do our shopping. On Zattere (250 meters from home) is one of the few food supermarkets in Venice. The Billa, which also sells prepared meals and only to be heated by microwave.
Now let's speak of the artistic side of Venice as the city is an artistic surprise. Just to start, in the church which is near to our flat, there are paintings by Tiziano and Veronese and some valuable sculptures of the Renaissance period.
After few minutes walk from our flat you reach the museum of the Accademia and the Guggenheim Museum of modern art.
If you get to Venice by train or you reach "Piazzale Roma " - Rome square -, you can get to our flat after a ten minutes walk or by boat "vaporetto". Take the one that stops in San Basilio.
Within minutes you can visit the Scuola di San Rocco and the Frari Church with the "masterpiece of the Assumption" by Titian and Tintoretto at the School of Campo San Polo. The apartment is close to restaurants elite as well as traditional restaurants Venetians quality / price ratio very good, also close to one of the few supermarkets in Venice that sells food meals ready to heat up just as well as quaint shops and laboratories of Venetian glass.
    The apartment is located:
    - 10 minute walk from Piazzale Roma, the goal of buses and cars
    - 5 minutes walk from the vaporetto stop of San Basilio
    - 30 meters from the canal Rio San Sebastian, where motor boats can dock / taxi also from Piazzale Roma.
    - 10 minutes walk from the harbor where all the cruise ships dock

      Great accommodation in Venice

Left on 03/18/2013 for a stay in March 2013

My husband and I stayed in Sunny House for 4 nights in March 2013. It's a great little home away from home. It is right next to San Sebastian in Dorsoduro and just a few minutes walk from San Basilio vaporetto station which is served by line 2. Just a few steps away from the vaporetto stop is a Billa supermarket and there is also a bakery close to the flat where you can get fresh yummie stuff for breakfast. Remember to ask Sabina to point it out to you when she meets you on arrival. Giorgio, the owner, answered my e-mails very promptly and arranging the rental was very easy. Note that cleaning goes on top of the rental price and you're in charge of cleaning the kitchen yourselves. There could also be some extra costs if you arrive in Venice outside of the normal "meeting" hours which may be charged unless you have specific other arrangements. So it's best to check beforehand. Everything is in the terms and conditions though, it all felt very honest. There were no unpleasant surprises for us when we left and got our deposit back. After booking we arranged meeting Sabina who met us at the vaporetto stop and showed us the way and the flat. It was very clean when we arrived and it's a brightly furnished, functional little place on the first floor. It had everything we needed. There were even a couple of pairs of wellies in the cupboard just in case you experience flooding while you're there. If Wifi is important to you do make sure before you book that it is available as there was no wifi when we were there. They were trying to install it on the day we left for the next guests. There is free wifi in lots of restaurants and bars but if you need it at home, do make sure. The kitchen was well equipped and there were even things like oil, vinegar, salt and pepper in the cupboard which was great. You may spend a long time looking for cutlery and knives etc. They're in the two little drawers on either side of the kitchen table!!! The bathroom was also very clean. It is tiny by the way, so when you use the loo your legs go under the sink. But then everything is tiny in Venice. There was a comfortable double bed and we slept very well. There was also another single bed in the bedroom, so the place is ideal for a couple with a child or three friends who know each other well enough for two to share the double. The couch in the living room may possibly pull out to become another bed judging from the description, but there was only the two of us so we didn't need it. Another positive thing we noticed was that the hot water was really hot and the heating very efficient. In the flat is a folder with useful information for tourists both in Italian and in English and we tried two of the places which Giorgio recommended (San Trovaso and the Pizza restaurant down on the Zattere) and found both restaurants to be great. The square was very quiet at night, no screaming party goers to keep us awake. I am glad we booked Sunny House and didn't go into a hotel. We had our own little home in Dorsoduro.

Un appartement clair et calme, tout près de lieux animés

Left on 04/24/2012 for a stay in March 2012

      Very nice place

Left on 04/23/2012 for a stay in April 2012

The apartment is very well located, close to the water buses, shops and not far from the lively campo santa margarita the evening.
The place is very quiet and spacious, the room is large and the lounge comfortable. We were with two children (one five and the other 18 months) and found the apartment very nice. We enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen to prepare meals.
We were very well received. We will not hesitate to return if we go back to Venice.

      Very nice apartment in Venice-Dorsoduro

Left on 04/19/2012 for a stay in April 2012

The flat is light and airy and tastefully furnished. The kitchen is well equipped and great to cook in. The house is situated in Dorsoduro, one of the original parts of Venice with a pleasant and quite atmosphere and dominated by locals. It is a short distance (4 minute walk) from the apartment to the nearest vaporetto stop S.Basile. From there you can catch regular local transports to the center of Venice. Near the stop there are two restaurants and one supermarket. We had a lovely, enjoyable stay at Sunny House, and will definitely return again. We also will recommend it to all of our friends.
