A modern and sunny apartment with a garden in the Dorsoduro district. Venice, Veneto - Venice, Italy
Additional Location Information
The San Barnaba neighbourhood is situated in the Dorsoduro district where city living is enjoyed at a relaxed pace. A short distance from the Gallerie dell'Accademia, the apartment is in the student district where the Academy is divided among different palaces and there is a myriad of colourful outdoor cafés. Both San Barnaba and Santa Margherita have a flurry of cafés and restaurants that stay open late. Campo Santa Margherita is always bustling—shoppers in the morning, kids playing ball after school, and students who flock to the outdoor cafés in the evening. Both squares are surrounded by a typical Venetian maze of narrow streets and canals.

The apartment is very comfortable; nice bathroom, practical kitchen. The garden is amazing--lovely place for breakfast, cocktail hour.
The location is fantastic--the neighborhood is away from the tourist hours, nice restaurants, families, and real life. The sleeping loft was fine for us, could be steep for some.
All the arrangements were handled perfectly. We would definitely go back.

As we were arriving at the apartment late in the evening Locappart posted the keys to us. We were a little apprehensive as were concerned we might not find it, but the instructions were great and we found it with no problem. It was only a short walk away from the water taxi, which was useful as we had luggage with us. The main door opens onto a private patio, with a lovely little rose garden and outdoor seating. The apartment itself is very spacious and cool, which was brilliant in the hot Venice climate. The new air conditioning unit worked a treat. We were met the following morning by Locappart staff who was very friendly and gave us some suggestions for places to visit. The apartment is decorated with lots of modern art, which was a nice change from the normal drab apartment decor. It is located very close to the local square, which has plenty of restaurants to choose from and supermarkets. It is a good location as you are close to the amenities, but are not stuck in the main part of town, which was very busy. It's only a 10 minute walk to the centre (or you can hop on the water taxi). Dorsoduro is a lovely part of town, filled with many little art studios and galleries.

A bit hard to locate from the map provided, but this is Venice so maps aren't much use anyway! We were met by the agent outside the property, who showed us round and explained everything well.
The apartment was nicely furnished and well maintained, with a private entrance into a walled garden and patio doors into the apartment. Big open-plan main room with all the usual bits, a small kitchen but we ate out all the time. Upstairs was the bedroom on a mezzanine, and there was a compact bathroom at the back.
The location is brilliant, just a minute off a busy square with several bars, cafes and restaurants, and about 5 minutes walk from a couple of water bus stops, no problems getting around. Despite that it was really quiet and we were never disturbed in the night by any noise.
It's near the student area, so there were no big tour groups about and local prices were very good. There is a supermarket almost on the doorstep, but that was being refurbished during our stay (Oct 2011). The next nearest was 10-15 minutes walk.
