A secret garden on the Grand Canal

Left on 10/26/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This enchanting little house at the back of a large garden on the Grand Canal was a peaceful quiet haven after the crowded and noisy experience of Venice. The living room furnishings were extremely comfortable, a very well equipped kitchen, and neat bathroom were all delightful. The sleeping arrangements are not so satisfactory but dictated by the
constraints of the height of the building - there is virtually no head room for the second bed position. However, it is possible to adapt reasonably well and to keep your head lowered. Making the beds was a bit of a challenge. The mattresses were good but I would recommend that the owners up-grade their bedding. The sheets were small and the blankets were not very clean. And one lumpy pillow per bed is not really acceptable.
However we absolutely loved the position of the house and despite the eccentricities would recommend it to others and would definitely stay there again. Valentina and Rachel could not have been more friendly and helpful in every way - we are delighted to have discovered their company.

      Ciao Sagalass

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your stay at Ca’ Giardino. While I’m so happy you found the apartment comfortable and delightful, I was very sorry to hear about the situation regarding the bedding. Please accept my sincere apologies for this and be assured that I am currently liaising with the apartment owner to ensure that all the apartment’s bed linens, blankets and pillows are replaced with items of superior quality and in sufficient quantity – thank you so much for bringing this to our attention so that we can rectify the matter. Regarding the restricted height of the sleeping area (a little more difficult to sort out!), I do think that despite this being shown in one of the photographs, it would be a good idea if we were to emphasise this in the written description and so am arranging to have this modified. Last but not least, I’m delighted to hear that you would recommend Ca’ Giardino to others and that you’d definitely stay there again – on behalf of myself and the VOV team, it would be a pleasure to welcome you back anytime! Sending all our best wishes from Venice to London.

      Ciao e grazie

A truly magical experience, so befitting a first visit to Venice

Left on 10/29/2011 for a stay in September 2011

The Ca Giardino was a great little piece of Paradise in the midst of the bustling Venice (Dorsoduro district close to accademia). Tucked away between two larger buildings, it was surrounded by gardens and even had view of the Grand Canal.
It is perfect for two or even three people. The appliances and amenities were modern and easy to use - stove, microwave, washing machine, air conditioner, etc. Set up like a loft, the sleeping quarters were on a second floor, so circular stairs could be a problem for some.
      Fantastic inside and out.
Only drawbacks were the mosquitoes (but had numerous ways to get rid of them) and lack of outside lighting for when you returned late at night. A flashlight is required.
Valentina and other members of Views on Venice were very friendly, informative and accommodating.
I would not hesitate to recommend them and would return again without hesitation.

      Wonderful stay in Venice

Left on 11/05/2010 for a stay in October 2010

We just returned from our trip to Istanbul and Venice and were delighted with this house. The location next to academia is perfect. The cafe next door was friendly and convenient for breakfast. The VOV folks provided welcome provisions for first day. The beds were comfortable. The house was lovely. Would love to move there.

Thank you so much for letting us know what a great time you had at Ca' Giardino. To hear that you enjoyed it so much that you would love to move there is fantastic news (and as an aside, should you ever wish to look into purchasing a property in Venice at any stage in the future then we'd be more than happy to be of assistance via our local real estate partner, 'VOV Estates' ). Hoping that we see you in Venice again soon and with our best wishes.

The most delightful place that I ever stayed in!

Left on 10/31/2010 for a stay in October 2010

I booked Ca' Giardino online in May for October 2010. Between May and October any email queries and requests I made were answered immediately and to my entire satisfaction. Daniela (VOV) ordered a Motoscafo to collect us from the airport to Campo San Vio which was timed perfectly and went like clockwork. Rachele from VOV was waiting on time meet us and was a most welcoming, helpful presence. Everything in the apartment was fully explained before she left and her advice could not have been bettered.
All I can say about the apartment is that it was Heaven! The natural garden was an absolute Delight for one who does not care for manicured gardens. The trees and the garden beyond leading to the Canal Grande was an oasis of peace. Both my guest and I loved returning home to it. The apartment was extremely comfortable and most unselfconscious stylish and very well designed. Although virtually just one room, both my friend and I felt one could live there permanently as the design was so clever. If there was a drawback it would be the low ceiling towards the end of the balcony. Also anyone infirm would need care on the spiral staircase. That being said, I hope to book the same apartment when I come again next year God willing!
As far as the area of Venice is concerned Dorsoduro is absolute favourite part of Venice. Out of our private garden door was an excellent cafe run by very nice people and two minutes away was the accademia Bridge with access to San Marco and the Vaporetti. To the south the Zattere and the lovely walk along the Giudecca Canal (with supermarket Billa). The whole area is peaceful and very civilised.
On leaving Venice VOV ordered a Motoscafo to the airport which needless to say was punctual to the minute. Rachele arranged our departure perfectly. Both my friend and I were left with a very warm feeling towards VOV and to the owners of Ca' Giardino for sharing with us their lovely pied a terre in Venezia. Many thanks to both indeed!
