London, United KingdomAuthentic experience of island life in the Venetian lagoon.
Left on 12/21/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Looking to re-connect with the simpler life amidst an authentic Italian community? Recently I spent three autumnal weeks here, sleeping below whitewashed wooden beams and waking to church bells and the crisp early light reflected on the water. The house combines rustic charm with modern amenities (reliable wi-fi) and both aline and friendly neighbours are on hand or on e-mail should you be in need of anything. The island is quiet but Venice is only 45 minutes away by the trusty vaporetto. Yet even on the days when I made the trip, it was tempting to be back for the sunset over the lagoon or early evening Mass, before settling in to cook dinner whilst in the darkness the island went to sleep. Memorable.

United KingdomA rare find in wonderful location

It is extremely rare to find accomodation on the island of Burano and this Fisherman's House is ideal for those who want to escape from Venice for a few days and experience 'local' living. The house is small but very comfortable and spotlessly clean, it has been well appointed (larger cups and a kettle would have been my only wish but it is probably on the English guests who are avid tea drinkers!!! The owner aline is very welcoming and most helpful. An excellent place to stay in a delightful cottage with views across the lagoon, near to all the amenities of Burano - an island which is without doubt the jewel of the Venetian Lagoon.

This place is a gorgeous getaway in the Venice lagoon. The house looks great, we looked around for half an hour, before we unpacked. After getting comfortable, we found that it is stocked with some basic supplies and more than enough tools to do some Italian style cooking (you could go for a recipe from the cooking bible, which is on the shelf) for yourself, if you don't want to go out to eat in one of the numerous restaurants on the island.
We did our travels in September, meaning the island gets quite during the evening when the majority of the tourists go back to Venice city. This can calm your mind from your enjoyable visits to the beautiful and humming Venice city. Once you get a hang off the water bus schedule it is a breeze to get around. But don't forget to point your interest to Burano itself, because you would miss out on its cute and engaging looks.
Aline supplied us with enough timely information and help to get us started, absolutely no complaints there, only praise.
Nothing should stop you to get over here!

ParisA dream !
Left on 05/15/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We stayed there a week last January. We had thought we would have nice holidays in a nice colored island and we discovered a mysterious paradise. I was sure that after three days I would like to go to Venice but I quickly realized I didn't want to move, the atmosphere, the view on the laguna, the light, were fascinating. To stay there when all the tourists are gone is a real experience. We just walked around the island, went to the fish market (a delicious sea bass for 3 euro's), bought delicious fresh artichokes on a small boat and sometimes went to San Francesco where the monks remind you of San Francesco himself. And this house is very very charming. When you go up and down on these elegant stairs you definitely forget it is a small house. And you are jealous of the grey bath room (where you can easily have warm towels)! If I stay one week in a rented house, every detail is important, so I liked the plates, the glasses, the color of the wall (grey), the (grey) marble terrazzo in the kitchen made to measure. And if you stay there with friends you can read outside on a deckchair and they take a nap on the 3th floor and everybody feels comfortable.
