We rented this 2 bedroomed apartment from Grimaldi's. This is a large, bright and airy apartment, with modern furnishings (all from Ikea!). It is about 1 minute walk from the Ca D'Oro Vaporetto stop. Grimaldi's office is at the end of the alley the apartment is in.
Grimaldis were very helpful. They met us from the Vaporetto stop and let us into the apartment when the previous tenants had left so we could leave our suitcases, even though officially we didn't have access for another 3 hours. On the day we left, we were allowed to leave our cases in the apartment hallway from 10am, and collect them at 3pm to go to the airport. So much more convenient than lugging cases around for hours!
The Grimaldi agent who showed us around the apartment lives in Venice and gave us lots of advice about bars, restaurants and getting around.
There is a great (and very popular) little trattoria around the corner from the apartment called 'casa Mia'- great pizzas and pasta at a good price.
There are a few supermarkets very close to the apartment if you wish to cook.
The Rialto bridge is a 5 minute walk away, and St Marks Square about 15 minutes.
The Fondamente Nuove Vaporetto stop to go to the Islands of Murano and Burano, is 5 minutes away too. Overall, we thought the position fantastic.
Grimaldis recommended a bar in St Marks square called Caffe La Vena. Great Bellinis, The rule in Venice is you stand at the bar to drink- if you sit down it costs between 2 and 3 times the price. Bellini's at La Vena cost 5 euros at the bar and 15 euros at a table- so be warned. If you sit outside in St Marks Square many places have a 'cover charge' in addition to the drink cost. Cafe Florian charges an extra 6 Euros a head - but it was worth it for the orchestra, the view and the best coffee I have probably ever had.
Try to get on the Secret Itineries Tour at the Doges Palace- but you need to book at least 2 weeks in advance to have a chance of getting a place.
I would recommend a visit to Burano. it is really pretty with lovely lace shops (but its expensive).
We went to see an opera concert at Scuola Grande Di San Teodoro, in Campo San Salvador close to the Rialto bridge. 25 euros for an enjoyable and entertaining couple of hours of opera classics performed in 18th Century costume.
If I go back to Venice I would stay at Ca Verdi again. -

I spent a wonderful holiday in Venice with my family during the Carnival.
It was amazing!!!
The person who welcomed us and accompanied us to the apartment was very polite. He gave us all the information for our stay.
We reserved an excellent apartment with all comfort.
It was like being at home!!! All the rooms were very bright,good decoreted and above all very clean.
Everything here worked very good. The sofa and the beds were very comfortable. There was also free Wi-fi!!!
The apartment was just a few minutes from the Rialto Bridge and Saint Mark's Square. During the Carnival there is a magic atmosphere specially in those places.
The apartment was located near 'Strada Nuova' where there are many shops and restaurant.
The position is perfect for tourists because it is a simple access to the major points of interest.
I like everything in this place: the people, the city, the Carnival and the accommodation. I hope to come back soon and spend another special holiday in Venice!!
