Description from the owner

The 16th century Camozzini Building is immersed in an ancient and peaceful area of old-town Verona known as 'Cadrega'.

Surrounded by other prestigious buildings it is situated in the vicinity of the beautiful, historic church of S.Eufemia, 5 minutes from the Arena, Piazza Erbe and Juliet's balcony.

This elegant residence belonging to several generations of noble families was built on the foundations of buildings dating back to Roman times (original stones are still visible in the cellars). The typical Venetian features have been carefully preserved ,despite small changes being made due to changing tastes over time.

Excellent location - spacious, characterful apartment

Left on 06/08/2013 for a stay in June 2013

The location is perfect for all the sights in the old town. Within 5 minutes you can walk to Piazza Bra, Piazza Erbe, Ponte Pietra and many more.

The decoration of the apartment gives you the impression of being in a Renaissance palazzo while having the comfort of modern equipment. The kitchen facilities are designed to be hidden in cupboards which look like antique furniture when the doors are closed. The design of kitchen cupboards maintained the character of the main room but it would not be easy to cook more than the simplest meal with the limited space. The bathroom is very modern with an excellent shower.

The apartment is somewhat dark during the day and it was always necessary to put the lights on.

Given how close the apartment is to the lively city centre, we found it pleasantly quiet at night and there was very little noise from traffic.

      Perfection!

Left on 05/26/2013 for a stay in July 2012

What can I say, this apartment was perfect. And what makes an apartment perfect is great amenities, attention to detail and a person who really cares about the apartment.

Carlo is not a rental agent, he is the owner of the apartment. The difference becomes clear the second you enter the beautifully decorated apartment. The kitchen hides away in a closet, and although small, it was no problem preparing meals for the six of us.

The bathroom is large and brand new. The washing machine was very useful! The beds (6 of them) were all comfortable.

The location is fantastic. We used Verona as a springboard for day trips to the north. Next time, I would spend a couple of days touring Verona as well. It's a beautiful city.

We would definitely return and have already recommended Carlo and the apartment to other people.

He is a true gentleman and that is reflected in the apartment.

Almost forgot, thanks for the private tour of the opera! My kids really loved being able to play the grand piano!

Thanks again for a great time!

      Stunning, stunning - stunning!!!

Left on 01/26/2013 for a stay in August 2011

I tried to write this review in 2011 straight after our stay, nut couldn't find the apartment on Tripadvisor.
The apartment was fantastic, right in the middle of the old (and interesting) part of Verona. The exceptional use of space was great, with the quirky hidden kitchen and utilities in plain sight. To not spoil the apartment by building walls and losing the wonderful space Carlo had a "wardrobe" made to hold the cooker, fridge and sink (see the photo) as well as a second to hold the utilities.
The apartment had obviously been freshly upgraded to a very high standard, and is part of a palazzo in which Carlo lives and also hosts operatic recitals. Ask him to show you around there are some fantastic frescos. He is a very freindly man and is so proud of verona he is pleased to chat and give you advice.
We tried to return in 2012 as we loved it so much, but it was booked for the week we had in mind. Always a good sign when some wants to return I think.
However we stayed in another Verona apartment (see my review on LE Cadreghe in Verona's historical centre - “Cadreghe-Bravissimo!”), which turned out to almost in the next street. This was recommended by Carlo by the way.
When we returned in 2012 I rang him and he joined us for coffee, at the local bar/cafe.
Superb host and apartment. I have ticked the green recommend button, but that doesn't say how much I would recommend, and that is hugely.

      A most helpful host

Left on 11/19/2012 for a stay in November 2012

If you are going to Verona and prefer to stay in an apartment look no further than Carlo's apartment - Antica Verona 2. It is spacious and comfortable and is very close to Piazza Erbe, the arena and all the attractions of Verona. Carlo is a most charming and accommodating host. Both before the visit and during it he did everything he could to be helpful and made my wife and I feel very welcome. It is so unuual to find such an attentive and courteous host.
We would endorse the suggestions to use the nearby bar for breakfast and also to use the very local restaurants for an evening meal.
We managed to choose a week when there were no operas on in Verona. When we return we will certainly contact Carlo in his Palazzo.

Exquisite; exceeded all of our expectations. Perfect place to s

Left on 10/13/2012 for a stay in September 2012

The apartment exceeded all of our expectations and was the perfect place to stay. A sublime base to soak in Verona and all of its delights. We lived the Dolce Vita for our week long stay. Carlo could not have been a better or nicer or more considerate host; a true "Gentleman" in every sense of the word. The acid test for any accommodation is "would you return?": without hesitation and without reservation, we'll be back. It ticks all the boxes and is fully equipped.

We came to celebrate our Mother's 75th Birthday. She's disabled but the apartment suited our needs wonderfully well because it's on the ground floor with its own access to the street. She loved, we loved it.

Old Town Verona is a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful place to visit. It is small but perfectly formed and a big plus for anyone visting is that there is an enormous amout to do but within a very self-contained area. Therefore, all the sights are within walking distance if you choose this apartment to stay in.

Slightly further afield, Venice is a great day trip in one direction and Lake Garda a great day trip in the opposite direction. I also visited Mantova for a morning. Doing these trips means that I still have plenty to see and do in Verona the next time that I visit.

We feel very, very, very fortunate to have stumbled upon antica Verona 2; an absolute gem of an apartment. Bella, bella, bella!

      Great Location

Left on 10/13/2012 for a stay in September 2012

I had never rented an apartment before so was actually quite apprehensive on my arrival but all fears were soon overcome. The owner Carlo was very welcoming and gave us a good introduction to the property and indeed Verona. The property was I had expected from the photos on show online so there was no nasty surprises. The rooms are clean and well furnished though the kitchen in a cupboard took a bit to get used too. The only downside to the apartment was we shared it with quite a few ants but that was all.

Location was excellent just along from the property in Via Fama there is a nice mixture of shops and cafes this leads onto one of Verona's main shopping streets the Corso Porta Borsari. It is just a short walk to Piazza Erbe and about 10 Minutes to Piazza Bra and the arena.

Perfect place to stay when visiting Verona.

Left on 08/01/2012 for a stay in June 2012

This apartment is the perfect place to stay when you visit Verona. Minutes away from many of the City’s main attractions, it offers a quiet, cool and peaceful residence. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated and the kitchen design is ingenious. Both Carlo and Giovanna are extremely helpful and they provided us with very practical and useful information and even organised a taxi for us. We were very happy in this apartment and highly recommend it.

Friendly owner in the heart of the city

Left on 05/06/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We rented the appartment instead of staying in a hotel because we have a baby and we wanted more space and a kitchen. We stayed in the other appartment, same building, same owner. The appartment was situated in the heart of the old part of the city, close Erbe square. Very easy to visit sites and to come back for some breaks in the middle of the day. The appartment was very spaceous, decorated in antique style, walls were handpainted. Kitchen was well equiped. New shower in the bathroom. Kitchen and bathroom were very clean. Floors a bit dusty some places, but we noticed it only because we had a baby crawling around. Very helpful and friendly owner. It was easy to contact him by e-mail prior to our arrival. He answered e-mails immediatly. Booking process was easy. The owner was waiting for us on the day of the arrival. One the departure day he kindly showed the rest of the building. The building is so historical and beautiful, owned by the family.
