With spectacular views of the sea from the pool and the many terraces, this hillside vacation rental on Italy's Amalfi Coast offers comfort and a garden setting from which to enjoy the scenery. This Amalfi Coast villa is also a convenient location for day trips to the towns of Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Capri, and Sorrento. In an area where parking is difficult to find, the villa rental includes parking spaces for two or three cars. This villa on Italy's Amalfi Coast is great for families or groups of friends. And don't worry about grocery shopping until you're ready... This rental comes stocked with provisions for a couple of meals, so all y...ou have to do is arrive and relax!

[550 m2] Surrounded by green olive groves, pine trees, and many other Mediterranean plants, Villa Potenza has terraces on three different levels [five levels total, from the parking lot to the pool] covered with violet bougainvillea pergolas, outdoor furniture, marble tables, and garden seats providing very comfortable seating areas for al fresco meals. More paved terraces and gardens planted with pink and red geraniums, are situated around the property. The swimming pool is located at the third and lower level, and is surrounded by a spacious terracotta terrace with 12 lounge chairs, 2 showers, and a shaded area with dining table and chairs for 12 people. There is also a barbeque area. The rental villa is accessed through a remote-controlled gate on the road level which opens onto the parking area.

[250 m2] From the parking area, there are 4 steps up to the main entrance of this villa on the Amalfi Coast. This older villa has spacious rooms and high ceilings, and each bedroom has a TV and a wall safe.

Main villa: There is a lounge area which leads to the spacious master bedroom with TV, en suite bathroom with Jacuzzi shower, and sliding iron shutters opening to a lovely balcony with blue printed tiles, sun lounges, and sea view. There is access to another terrace on the other side [50m2] with garden seats, terracotta floor, outside lighting and geraniums overflowing from large terracotta pots. There is a spacious sitting/dining room with terracotta floor, open fireplace, sofas for 12 people and French windows with sliding iron shutters opening to the terrace which has built-in seating, blue and yellow printed tiles, wicker chairs and sea views. There is one double bedroom which can be made up as two twin beds, with TV, white and yellow tiled floor, and two windows - one with sea view and the other opening to the outside courtyard with pine trees, garden seats, terracotta floor and outside lighting. There is a small double bedroom with TV and French windows. Along this corridor there is also a bathroom with Jacuzzi shower, green tiled floor, and a window to the outside courtyard. The third double bedroom has a sofa, TV, pink tiled floor, and a panoramic window. There is a bathroom with shower and sky-light. There is a fully equipped kitchen with 8 ring gas stove, American refrigerator with ice maker, a wine fridge, and a wooden table with 4 seats. French doors opens onto the terrace with a round marble table with 12 seats and a barbecue. There is also a utility room with washing machine and two sinks.

Guesthouse: There is a separate guesthouse with 2 bedrooms - one double bedroom with wrought iron bed and en suite bathroom with shower, and one twin bedroom, also with en suite bathroom with shower. Both bedrooms have a TV, white and blue tiled floor, windows to the back of the house, and blue French doors opening onto the terrace.

Villa la Potenza is located along the coastal road about 3 km from the center of Amalfi. The two nearest restaurants, which can deliver food to the villa, are situated about 300 m away from the villa. A communal staircase approximately 400 steps from the villa, leads down to the Santa Croce public beach, located directly below the villa. The Santa Croce beach has 2 restaurants, as well as umbrellas and lounge chairs for hire. Shops, banks, post office, and bars are situated in Amalfi. A bus stop marked SITA on the main road just 50 meters from the villa will take you to Positano, while another stop 200 meters from the villa goes to Amalfi. Amalfi is 15 minutes away and Positano is 35 minutes away. Ferries and hydrofoil leave daily from Amalfi to Capri [1 hour], Positano [20 minutes], Ischia [2 hours], and Salerno [1 hour]. The services operate only during the summer months. A rental car is recommended when staying in this Amalfi Coast vacation rental. Blue SITA busses cost about 1-2 euros, depending on destination. Stops are marked with a blue and white SITA sign. The small internal bus [orange mini-bus] of Positano is marked by a brown FERMATA sign. Driving times are: Ravello to Amalfi, 15 minutes; Amalfi to Positano, 30 minutes; Positano to Sorrento, 35 minutes.

Available amenities: Central heating, air conditioning, telephone, satellite TV [English channels] in all bedrooms, CD player, hair dryers, washing machine, and barbecue. There are screens on all the windows. The swimming pool [4 m x 8 m] has 2 showers, and is open from May 6 - October 28. Housekeeping is provided for 6 hours every day.

Arrive & Relax: Stocked with enough food to get your group through Saturday night and Sunday, this property allows you to show up, drop your bags, and settle in without a hassle. No searching for a grocery store after that long flight, and no worrying about Sunday store closures. You can deal with the details later... after a meal and a good nights' sleep! Arrive & Relax provisions include:

* Dinner: Tomato sauce, olive oil, and pasta

* Breakfast: Fresh fruit, eggs, and corn flakes

* Lunch: Olives, cheese, prosciutto, and bread

* Beverages: Mineral water, orange juice, coke, milk, coffee, and wine [red and white]

* Extras: Sugar, salt, butter, jam, Nutella, napkins, and toilet paper

Extra Services: Additional maid service [€10 per hour] and babysitting [€10 per hour] are available on request. Cook service is available on request for dinner only [180 euros plus the cost of food]. The shopping, cooking, serving, and cleaning will all be included in the cost of the dinner. Generally for a 12 person dinner, 2 people will need to be hired: the cook who buys and prepares the food and the second person who sets the table, serves the food and cleans the kitchen at the end of the dinner. Cook service needs to be requested at two months before your arrival date. It is also possible to have the kitchen stocked with groceries before your arrival for an extra cost.

  Overall, we strongly recommend this villa because of its comfort and beauty and also because of the excellence of the people associated with the villa and the lovely help we had while we were there.
  
  The views are spectacular. The villa is very comfortable and well situated for day trips as well as walking. Another review stated that the noise was a problem, but we did not find it to be so.
  
  The Amalfi Coast is beautiful and a perfect vacation spot for a family. There is a great deal to do and see. The variety of choices of activities is such that whether you are very adventurous or very laid back, you will find activities to enjoy.

  Very good except for the rain.
  
  The views and outside appointments - pool/spa/bath, terraces, were excellent. Good off-street parking. The maid was superb, going out of her way to help.

  The entire Amalfi Coast Area was amazingly beautiful, and this villa is placed perfectly to see all of the area. The beach access was just next to the villa, with 380 stone steps down to a rocky beach with great little restaurants. The villa itself was stunning, sleeping 12 easily in comfort. All amenities were thought of, including a built in wine cooler with a selection of wine. Both the housekeeper and the gardener were friendly and very helpful. This was one of our favorite vacations.

  Traffic noise from the Amalfi drive at all hours.
  
  Amazing markets and small towns, the beach, the private boat trip to Capri. This area of Italy has an amazing feeling of it's own that was great to experience.

  The outside view and landscaping were beautiful.
  
  The rooms and kitchen were pretty basic. Make sure the pool is filled before you go. We arrived and the pool was empty and we couldn't swim in it because the water was too cold.

  If you are travelling from the U.S., be prepared for a unique and different beach vacation. While we enjoyed it very much, we didn't think that the villa or the Amalfi Coast were as luxurious as most very high-end Mexican resorts or home rentals.
  
  The view is incredible and the staff was great. Also, the close proximity to the beach was very nice, however the beach may be difficult to use for an elderly person or someone who has troubles climbing many many steps.
  
  The showers were small. There are lots of bugs and ants if ANY food is left out or crumbs on the floor. I had problems getting the phone to work.

  The villa is in excellent condition. The pool was very refreshing after a day of trekking. Our wedding could not have been more wonderful!
  
  The gardens were absolutely incredible...thanks to wonderful Gerardo! He did the flowers for our wedding...fabulous!!!
  
  One of the rooms was a lot smaller than the others. This led to some problems with equity on splitting the costs.
  
  The Amalfi Coast is one of the most beautiful places that I have traveled n the world. Ravello is charming and Amalfi was bustling and fun.

  Enjoyed Angela and Gerardo. Would rent a villa again and would visit Amalfi and that coast again.
  
  The veranda off of the living room and the big round marble table off the kitchen.
  
  The mildew smell that was present in the villa; the kitchen too small; the table couldn't seat everyone; the shower stalls in the bathroom. Those were cheap-looking and downgraded the authenticity of the interior.

  The property worked very well for a large group. Lovely setting and very clean, comfortable, and staff could not have been nicer. Enough space in case you wanted to get away from it all. The pool was quite lovely.
  
  The property is located on a curved part of the road, so noise was obvious. One thing we had to get used to was the church bells right behind property that chimed every hour, on the hour - all night!!. Also, the traffic started at 6:00am with beeping horns, which was heard in the main part of house that was close to the road. However, we understood that most properties on the Amafi coast are built up the cliffs, and Italians love to lean on the horn. Maybe that's why the bells chime on the hour - to warn them of the curves in the road!!

  We've rented 6 times in France and Italy. I would say the bedroom and bathrooms were much better than average. The service at the house was amazing. The view is unbeatable. I'd just warn people about the noise---it's not like sleeping in Tuscany or a more rural area.
  
  The views, the many places to sit and relax, and the staff - Angela, Gerardo, Antonietta.
  
  It is noisy at night. The beds are comfortable, the night air is beautiful, but the windows face the road. The cars, motorcycles, and people noise go onto until quite late.
  
  Each of the towns is wonderful to visit - the beaches, the piazzas, etc.

  The view, the pool, the location is very central for exploring, nice wine cellar. The staff was very helpful.
  
  The beds are softer than we like, and the kitchen is not well equipped to cook for 12 people. I love to cook, and wanted to cook every night.
  
  Many good restaurants within 30 minutes especially, La Paranza... Drives around the area were deliriously enjoyable, yet scary. Biaggio, the taxi driver from Atrani, rocks. He will take you anywhere!

  The staff. They were excellent. The villa itself is very nice, while the location is probably second, for me. Very close to Amalfi and close to Positano.
