Left on 06/06/2013 for a stay in May 2013
I stayed in Michael's place for a week in May. Michael is very responsive and was very helpful with adjusting himself to my check-in and out times as well as in giving good tips about what to see and where to eat.
The location is superb, really next to all the place I wanted to visit and so quiet and safe to walk even late at night. I didnt use the public transportation, I just walked everywhere.
I liked the fact that the apartment is light and airy and the bed very comfortable yet give good support. In the street there is a bakery always open and the supermarket is just 2 minuets walking, so you can make a fresh breakfast in minutes.
The washer and dryer were also so handy. There is even a iron and iron board.
I also rented once a bike from the automated bike station in the street, which was fun. In short, the place really made me feel home!

Michael's place is right next to the Naschmarkt, a very good location. The place is clean and comfortable with everything you would need for a short stay. The booking process also went very well. He is very responsive to my questions and always answered at the first possible time. Recommended.

Very practical accomodation, comfy and cosy appartment. Excellent location, with lots of nice restaurants and bars all around. Apartment is equipped with all modern facilities, and in a quiet street. On top of it all, the owner is very helpful and accomodating, I would definitely recommend this accomodation to others!

CanadaYour own little apartment in Vienna!
Left on 11/29/2011 for a stay in September 2011
I travelled to Vienna in Sept 2011 with my hubby and his brother. Vienna is an expensive city to stay in, and booking for 3 adults typically required booking 2 rooms at a hotel. Despite staying only 2 nights and needing to pay an extra cleaning fee, the final cost was still far more affordable. "Room in Vienna" was an excellent find.
Location wise, it is convenient. It is an easy commute either from the Westbahnhof or the Airport, and just a 5 minute walk from the Kettenbruckengasse station and the nearby Naschmarkt. If you are wandering to Innere Stadt on foot, you'll reach the Staatsoper in 10 minutes and Stephansdom in 20 minutes. The area has a lot of ethnic food shops and a few hostels, nothing unsavoury or dangerous.
The accommodations were bright, cheery and clean. It definitely had an IKEA feel to it. On our unit, I believe there were two "apartments". There was shared access to wifi, laundry and a phone. The coded lock on the doors require no keys (just codes) and made us feel very safe. We stayed in Apartment I and liked the space even though we were 3 adults. There was a great double bed, a sofa bed and a small kitchenette complete with cooking utensils and sauces! The only problem is that the bathroom is very cramped in Apartment I, even for one person to use. The pictures on their website are very accurate: http://www.roominvienna.com.
Our only issue was that the building's halls were extremely dark. Going up to the 3rd floor at night was a little uncomfortable. It would be nice if it was lit and didn't require us to find the light switches on the way up.
Overall, a great find. I would encourage others to stay here! Staying here, you really feel like you are living in Vienna. -

The studio was just what we were looking for. Clean and equipped. Michael was really friendly and as quick to help in any way.
The apartment is located about 10-15 away from the city center- an easy walk- and near a great outdoor market that has really interesting kiosques of food, wine, etc. Well priced given that Vienna is a rather pricy city. -

I spent a total of over a month in Michael's apartments and in several different rooms. He accommodated all my needs and was extremely helpful in some personal matters. He went out of his way to help me resolve my problems. His apartments were like a home away from home for me. They are very clean, well situated, and in a safe neighborhood. Michael, his partner Fred, and his cleaning lady, Maria, were among the most friendly and kind people I met on this trip to Europe. Highly recommend.

In this apartment is everything simply perfect and lovely. I stayd the second time in one of the apartments, this time with a friend. The service is still great and the price is still unbelievable for this location! - very close to the city centre, only 10 min by foot. In effect the apartments are in the city centre. The rooms are new, clean, with a shower, very comfortable and they are very nice equipped. In the kitchen you also find everything you need. There I always feel at home ;-)

Berkeley, California, USAConvenient location / Perfect for a family
Left on 10/10/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We rented the entire three bedroom apartment for three adults and two children. First off, Michael, the manager (owner?) offered non-stop assistance, making every aspect of our stay effortless (from getting a crib for our baby to arranging taxis to suggesting local stores). The location was convenient and close to everything. We could walk to most of the historic sights, and the subway was at the end of the block. The apartment, while not the Taj Mahal, was perfect for the five of us, with a full kitchen and bathtub (for the little ones). The bedrooms were huge and if there was something we needed we just called Michael and he provided. There were a couple of quirky features, such as a bathroom light that had no switch (that we could find), coupled with the opaque wall of glass in the bathroom that lit up one of the bedrooms. And a switch in the kitchen that turned on an adjacent bedroom light (causing some confusion to the person using the bedroom when the light kept mysteriously turning on). Not only would I recommend this location, but I would stay there again myself if I return to Vienna.

Left on 10/07/2010 for a stay in October 2010
The apartment has several rooms, so you can meet other travelers passing by. Always a very good way to gather information about city life. The kitchen has all the utensils you need to cook a decent meal every time. Or you can start you day by walking 3 blocks to the main market in town and have breakfast in one of its many stands and restaurants. At 2 blocks from the U station, you are anywhere in the city within minutes. The zone is very safe and calm, but you can walk to the opera house in about 15 minutes. Also, Michael was always within reach by email or cellphone and ready to solve any problems I had. No wonder this place has so many good reviews. So, do yourself a favor and book a room here, you can not get a better deal.

We arrived as a group tour and booked 6 rooms, which were 3 studios in the 6 studio apartment 16, and all of the 3 rooms in apartment 19. Decor and comfort cant be argued as both were lovely. Communication was great and easy with Michael, he was always contactable and very helpful. Location was very important for us and we were only few minutes stroll to the u4, a few stops and ur in the heart of it, but also only 15 minutes walk by foot. The naschmarket area had good clean affordable cafes and bars, service everywhere courtious and efficient, and the food market was fabulous, buy all you need there cheaply if on a budget, and prepare healthy meals from comfort of the apartments . These rooms are between hostel and budget hotel price but have way more comfort than both. Had some very great nights in 'Artbar' nearby. Altogether, in an culturally rich, clean, safe, stunningly beautiful and friendly city, with the apartments added in , it was a very special weekend . Needless to say I will be back with my family in future . And so says the rest of my group. Lots of amazing things to see and do in vienna but I would like to recommend a visit the Sidmond Freud house/meuseum if you have a chance. Also at the apartments dont have more than 3 in the lift as it really doesnt cope, stairs are easy if theres is a larger group. Thats 6 stars from me :-)

My boyfriend Joe and I were staying in Vienna for five days.
The apartment is placed in the very center of Vienna and therefore we explored it mostly by foot or if necessairy using the public transport, the next stop is only down the street!
Michael and Fred have done a great job with providing simple but really nice rooms that, after a long day of strolling around, make you feel at home in Vienna.
Everything is really clean and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need but if you have any problems you can be sure that it only takes a quick phone call and they will solve it!
We had a really good time there which is last but not least due to the friendly atmosphere Fred and Michael created in their guest appartments! -

LondonJust about perfect
Left on 08/17/2010 for a stay in August 2010
My friend and I had a lovely stay here. The price is great for Vienna, and you get quite a lot for your money. The room is not big but has everything you need. The shower's great, and the kitchen's well equipped. And the bed was super comfy!
Only minor downside was heat/noise. It was very humid while we were there, and so we kept the window open but the sound travels really well so you can hear any cars going by really well. But there's not much traffic, and most of the time I think you'd be ok with the window shut and the fan on.
Michael was very helpful and flexible, even letting us keep the room late on checkout day, so we could get changed before heading to the airport.
All in all the best place I've stayed in a very long time. -

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment. It had everything we needed and was in a perfect location. We enjoyed being able to buy food and prepare our own meals. It was like being in your own home and we felt like locals. The walk to the U-bahn station was only 2 minutes. And right by that subway stop was a great little market, Naschmarkt. I really don't think you can find anything as good/convenient for the same price! Thank you Michael for going out of your way to help!

Left on 06/25/2010 for a stay in June 2010
Nice located, clean, cute designed apartments. Except from the Schönbrunn palace, you probably don't have to use public transportation at all. All central-city attractions are at walking distance. Just around the corner of city's famous market, full of fresh and tasty fruit, vegetables and other prepared foods you can buy and take with you, or sit and have a nice meal in one of many small restaurants, in the second part of the market. If you are going to Wien by car, there is (in case of this beautiful town) very cheap car parking, on the Karlsplatz for euro/24h, which is just 10 minutes walking away from the apartment. In total: warmest recommendations !!

The rooms are new arrenged (phone,Internet,..),very nice, clean and warm ;-)).The assistants are very friendly and fulfil your wishes.
Because of the combination of hotel and appartment (with a washing machine..) you can use the appatment also for a longer stay in Vienna; I staid there for nearly three months.
And the best is the location: You stay near at the Naschmarkt and U-Bahn-Station, so you are in 10 minutes in the city of Vienna!
Absolutely commendable!

San Francisco, CAAffordable, clean and convenient
Left on 04/19/2010 for a stay in March 2010
Coming from the United States, and never having
been to Europe, I did not have any expectations
about Vienna and/or these accommodations. The
building is an older part of town, with many Asian
immigrants, but it was totally safe from what I
could see (I arrived in the area around midnight).
The room was clean, and had nice touches like a
very advanced shower unit.
Its location was also convenient, as there are many
supermarkets (Billa down the street is full
service, though there are bigger Billa's a few
blocks further down) and shops along the main
thoroughfare two blocks north. Additionally the
underground stop is also two blocks north, so it is
easy to get to all main regions of Vienna, as well
as connect to the airport train.
One issue I would advise for those who do not know
German, some of the immigrants who are from Asia
only know their own language, and German. Which
caused some communication issues since I only know
English. So keep an eye out for younger Viennese,
as they all know English and can help out.
I would say that I was very happy about everything
at the low price. The only downside is the exterior
of the building and halls are a bit old, but the
apartment itself was totally refurbished, so I
didn't care.Response from Michael and Fred - 04/20/2010
Owner
Hey,
I don´t know of any Asian immigrants in our building, neither really in the surrounding area, as our area is much too expensive for new immigrants to afford, due to the fact that we are alomost at the border to the 1st district.
I guess you ment the many Asian restaurants in the market area, many of which traditional Japanese and Koreans (some of them are really good!). And indeed English is not their strong side, but cooking absolutly yes...
Regards,
Michael -

Excellent stay in Vienna. Very warm welcome by Fred and Michiel. The rooms, although small, are very nice and you probably won't find any better value-for-money apartments in whole Vienna. Juding from the most recent pictures on their site (www.heart-of-vienna.com) the rooms have been renovated and restyled. Well done !
The hosts provided us with adres of the cheapest carpark in Vienna that only locals know.
The apartment is located in a quiet street close to the center of Vienna. The nearest U-Bahn station is only 200m away and offers the best opportunity to explore the city.
Thanks for the memorable stay. Till next time ! -

The appartment was really close to everything interesting! I stayed there for 1 month and could walk to the city center, the Nachsmarkt, the Mariahilf shopping street, the Aqua terra zoo and the things which are further away were easily found with the U-bahn (5 min. walk).
The service of Michael and Fred was excellent, at first I had some complaints about the cleanliness of the room, but these were well taken care of! The washing machine was also a nice extra, all the laundry came out dry! The internet was ok, but the tv could only receive 5/6 german language channels. The walls in the rooms are a bit thin, so you can hear what's happing on the other side, but most of the other guests were quit.
Its a place I recommend -

What a fantastic time we had in Vienna staying at Michael and Fred's apartments. Right next to the metro and the Naschmarket we were able to get anything or anywhere for our short stay within minutes. The apartments are also surrounded by great eating spots from 5 euros for an all you can eat chinese/sushi buffet or a 5 star restaurant. Miechiel and Fred were fantastic owners and were contactable at all times and most helpful with directions or advice. On our last day we were allowed a late check out so we could still do some sight seeing and not carry all our luggage around with us. If you are looking for somewhere comfortable to see the city then this would be a great place for you to do it from. When I go back to Vienna I will certainly be staying here again. Miechiel and Fred really added to our experience to make Vienna that little bit more special.

Left on 12/13/2009 for a stay in November 2009
Michael and Fred, the owners of this studio, did a more than wonderful job of making my stay in Wien comfortable and convenient. While being located in the 5th District, the Naschmarkt is perfect for grocery and getting a quick Sturm or two in between seeing the big sites around town. The Karlsplatz is less than a 15 minute walk and Stephansdom maybe 30 minutes. There is a U-Bahn stop also located less than 5 minutes away from the studio to make things easy.
In the flat, the kitchen has all of the necessities, the washer is always available, and a relaxing environment is present. Each bedroom has a shower, television, sink, drawers, and very comfortable bed.
Whenever there was an issue (heating or general questions), Michael was ALWAYS available for help or accomodation.
There were no issues or problems while I was here for 2 months, and would suggest this place for anyone in Wien, whether in between trips, business, or just a weekend holiday. -

I am Austrian and live in Holland. To visit my family,I was looking for a nice place to stay for me and my partner. Surfing on the web, I found this address in Vienna.
In may '09 we stayed there for 1 week and we had a very pleasant time. We had a warm welcome and our room (light and clean) soon felt like home. The studio is situated in the heart of the city. You walk a few minutes and see all the monuments. Or you can take the metro, at the end of the street.
That's ideal! And in the area there are many cafe's and restaurants and a big market, there's always something to experience! Michael and Fred are very hospitable and helpful. They were concerned when my friend got ill and looked after him, when I had to arrange some things. I thought it was very nice.
We recommend this address to everyone! You get much quality and kindness for very little money!
Find out yourself! You will not regret it!

Left on 12/08/2009 for a stay in May 2009
I stayed at this place for about three months last summer (2009) and it was a very nice experience - a perfect combination of location (easy to reach the Inner City), facilities and people who shared the place. The rooms are clean, cosy and have everything you might need for a week-end or a longer stay. The best thing is that the showers are in the rooms, so you do not need to queue in the morning/evening. The hosts are quite flexible and helpful. This place could be also an option if you are coming to Vienna for a short-term contact or an internship.
